Lovely wine bar in the heart of Midtown :) I've passed El Viñedo several times, as it's right next to the parking entrance for the Fox Theater. I was eating Dinner with a friend at Cypress Street Pint and Plate and we decided that we wanted to hangout a little bit longer, so my friend led me here. The same Fox parking lot has tons of parking available with regular street parking rates that won't break the bank (as long as there's no show that night!). The entry is gorgeous, and is a delightful taste of what is to meet your senses what you step inside. Featuring modern steps and beautiful hanging chairs that line the front windows, it's truly a first impression. The staff are friendly and happy to answer any questions (I had several so I thank them for their patience!) The interior is just as beautiful as the patio, and has plenty of outlets available for working or charging your phone. The cocktails and wine list are to die for, as is the guava pastry. I have tried the empanadas (chicken, spinach, beef) and they are pretty good, but I LOVE the chicken sandwich! I get it about 4 times a month. I work in the area, so I call in my order and its usually ready within 10 minutes. Typically picking up my food is a pleasant experience but today (12.4.25) was a little off. I ordered my food at 1:56pm and then got a phone call at work that lasted approx. 15 minutes. At 2:11pm I head over to the restaurant. When I got to the restaurant my food was not ready even though it had been about 20 minutes since I placed my order. No big deal, I sit at the bar and wait for my food. After about 8 minutes or so I look up from my phone and there are 2 employees, and someone dressed in street clothes having a conversation and see a food container sitting on the counter that was not there before. I waited for a break in the convo (no more than 30 seconds) and ask if that's my food on my counter. The employee looks up from his phone and says, "yeah it just came out". I respond, "no it did not because I have been looking at it since y'all were here laughing". He doubles down and says he just came from the back with it and now his tone has changed as he is processing the transaction. I don't believe I was being rude I just wanted my food. I have now eaten my food and am still thinking about this interaction. Why would he put my food down on the counter if he sees me there waiting?! I will be back because as previously mentioned, I love their chicken sandwich, and the lattes are pretty good as well. My receipt says my server was Jaden B. I am not sure if that is the young lady or young man working at the front, but this interaction was with a young man that may be a relatively new employee with a short afro. read more

This restaurant was close to our hotel in Midtown and received very remarkable reviews on both yelp and Google so we decided to check it out. Our server was extremely generous and explaining the vibe of the restaurants ingredients and his opinions on the selections, and some of the common preferences from other customers. So yummy! I only ordered arepas which are Venezuelan style. I love that they have so many options and have a 2 for $15 deal because that was plenty for lunch. This place was packed for a Wednesday lunch. While they did have a little back up, the staff was up front and kept apologizing. The owner was really nice to speak with also. TL;DR: Not bad for Midtown, but you can find much better Latin American food and drinks outside this part of the city. In general, would pass, but if you're going to visit, grab a guava pastelito and an arepa! Loved the service and the location, but El Vinedo Local is rated way too high for the food and drinks that come out. Most recently, my friends and I ordered a Guava Pastelito, a Peaches and Cream Latte, and a Cafe Con Leche. The Guava Pastelito is consistently good, but the other two drinks were both underwhelming. The Peaches and Cream Latte had more of a bourbon vanilla flavor to it, which would've been fine if it wasn't so strong and artificial. The Cafe Con Leche was better, but it tasted weaker in both coffee and sweetness than I'm used to for this drink. read more

We met a friend here for Sunday brunch. She lives down the street from the restaurant and had never dined here before, so it was a first time experience for all three of us. We walked from her nearby condo, so I am not sure where or if parking is available for this restaurant. The dining area has outdoor terrace seating with umbrellas plus an indoor dining area with a large communal table. We chose to dine at the communal table due to the heat and humidity. The interior is beautiful and there was a musician playing Spanish guitar and a comfortable sound level. The music was fantastic!! The menu has a lot of great options that span different Latin cuisine. The food plus wine and cocktails menu have a great variety of options to please everyone. Mark ordered the daily special of a chicken sandwich with a side of fries. He said it was delicious. I ordered a chicken salad arepa and a vegetarian arepa. Both had fantastic seasonings and they were delicious and generous portions. My friend ordered a salad with grilled seafood added and it was fresh and delicious as well. We ordered a bottle of red wine that paired well with all of the food. Service was attentive and friendly. Bathrooms are in the building lobby and were clean and spacious. 5 Stars for a phenomenal lunch and really great service. Don't miss out on the pastelito! Alex welcomed us in and took care of us throughout our meal. The restaurant is located inside an office building, with an outdoor entrance. We took our seats at the end of a communal table and I was immediately wishing it were later in the day so I could grab a glass of wine! Dishes we loved: - Guava pastelito: The star. These run out early, so get them as soon as you're seated. Though every dish was really great, this dessert hit the spot and it was one of the better pastelitos I've ever had (and I grew up eating them in Miami). - Ceviche de camaron con chifles: This is a shrimp ceviche and the sauce was fabulous. There was a Peruvian ceviche option, but the shrimp were calling my name! - Empanada criolla: A traditional Uruguayan beef empanada. Having never had an Uruguayan empanada, I was stoked to see it was baked (similar to its Peruvian cousin) as opposed to fried an oily. It was VERY GOOD. - Pabellon with chicken. This rich rice dish was served on a drizzle of salsa rozada (pink sauce) and that along with the plantains gave it the tangy, sweet/savory combo I love in Latin American dishes. A winner! If you're looking for a nice spot to eat, this is the place to go. The food is fresh, cooked to perfection, and delicious. Worth every penny. Every single dish we ordered was exquisite -- from the arepas for appetizers to the ceviche to the main dishes. The wine selection was phenomenal too with many options. I came on a Tuesday night and it was not too crowded. Our server Alex was attentive and very helpful with suggestions. We had a great experience and I will for sure be back, whether with friends or family or for a date night. The best spot to park is street parking if you can find it. The Arepa's that come with the meal was great, the slices of Avacado was fresh, and the beans and eggs were amazing. The beef was tender and filled with flavor and good fat in every bite. I ordered this through GrubHub, the containers came in cute little togo boxes with a sticker to seal with the restaurants name on it providing a flare of care into the package. I appreciate this when ordering food togo. I usually don't go with Venezualen food within the perimeter but this was a pleasent surprise when it popped up on my Grubhub. 10/10 would order again. read more

Absolutely fabulous Uruguayan food. The Guava Pastelito is to die for. Buttery, flaky pastry with a light, sweet, jammy guava filling. They said they only make 12 a day, so get there early to secure the pastry your heart desires! Ceviche was beautiful, cappuccino perfect. We chatted with our waiter, Alex, who was very knowledgeable about the surrounding neighborhood, parking lots, and wine. It's a gorgeous building, light ad bright during the day, perfect for brunch. It is not easy to find a casual-fine dining spot in Atlanta featuring Latin cuisine, even in the restaurant-dense dt/midtown. So I am glad to discover this place when I wandered around midtown. It's a small restaurant with nice decor. In the middle of it there is a long communal table which is good for meeting new people, and it is surrounded by some small tables. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with different menus. I only tried their lunch menu, on which there was a wide choice of empanadas and arepas. The spinach&mushroom empanada had a dense, creamy filling. The arepa pabellon (pulled beef) was basically a small sandwich on tostones, stuffed with lots of beef and cheese. I also tried the pabellon platter. It's layered with rice, beans, beef, cheese, garnished with herbs on top and served with plantains, and it tasted delicious. Service was fast and I really like their e-bill payment method. What I dislike was the size of the dishes. Definitely too small (for one) considering the price! Even on the days when I didn't exercise I still needed to order 2-3 dishes. And it would be if there could be more side dishes like bread, arepa and side salad. read more

The empanadas were the highlight of the trip. I've never been to Georgia before and wanted to try this due to good reviews. Walked in at 3:30 and the server we started with was nice. By 4 we got our food and a different waiter. The empanadas were really good. The arepas were barely warm but the beef had okay flavors. What soured the trip is we asked to have a hot chocolate warmed up and were told no. Felt like they cared more about people drinking. Sad since this will likely be the only trip I make to Georgia. My friend and I were the only two people when we entered the restaurant on a Monday evening. We were asked where we wanted to sit and chose a cozy spot right inside the patio doors so we felt like we were outside without having to sit on uncomfortable metal chairs. The ambiance was nice, casual and trendy. Our orders were taken quickly and food arrived soon after. I ordered a glass of Laura Hartwig Carmenère which was delightfully poured with the server allowing me a look at the bottle and a taste before pouring a full glass. It was sublime. I had initially intended to go study at a coffee shop across the street but when that was closed I schlepped into El Viñedo and was a little taken aback at how it actually looks kind of fancy/upscale inside, in all the best ways! It still has some cafe vibes but I could see it transitioning into a really nice intimate dinner date place at night. I was seated immediately and I actually thought the service was really good, the guy who brought my food out and checked on me in between was so sweet! I got the spiked cafe con leche, which I did get a little buzz off of, so naturally, I loved it! The empanada was creamy inside and delicious. We came on Sunday, having made reservations for brunch. When we arrived we got lunch menus. They don't serve brunch and breakfast ends at 10:30. That was unclear online and rather disappointing. We had a communal table reservation and were seated at a small table at the corner. A pleasant surprise. However, it was a windy day and the fire door kept opening and the breeze hit us hard. I put my jacket back on. Our hot lattes got cold real fast given the wind. The host came by later to say they're working on turning up the heat. The wind caught them by surprise. Other than that, we were left disappointed. - Chai latte - good cinnamon flavor though a bit too sweet for hubs - Matcha latte - clean and no sweetness, allowing the matcha flavor to come through - Chicken empanada - it was okay, a bit on the greasy side from being fried - Vegetable aprea - tasty and well presented--on smaller side - Olimpico de Miga - A complete miss. Basic white bread, chopped up boiled eggs, ham, and lots of mayo. It looked like a sad school lunch sandwich with the crust sliced off - Guava and cream pastry - Small, good guava flavor, a bit too dense/hard Service was slow and not particularly attentive. I received the check and some things were cleared away, but not all the plates. I looked up from taking care of the bill and was about to grab a drink of water and noticed the glass was gone. My daughter and I shared an order of the Yucca fries and the Camaron. Everything was fresh, but honestly a bit tasteless. Dear El Viñedo, Thank you for serving such delish dishes (I had the Arepa Vegetas and the Empanada Espinaca) and the Ensalada Gaucho to share. The Arepa has a tasty sauce that is spicy enough to offset the sweetness of the frijoles and the Empanada was just creamy enough to not set off my lactose intolerance. The salad was . Loved everything about Vinedo. This is a great stop before going to a show at the Fox Theater. Service and timing of food coming out was excellent. Staff was very attentive and the mood & ambiance of the space was a great vibe. I had the Arepa Reyna Pepiada, Empanada Espinaca y Mongoes con Queso, and the wine flight. I recommend ALL 3. I have a Venezuelan spot that is my standard for Reyna pepida and Vinedo definitely equally delicious. If you plan on ordering more than one glass of wine the wine flight is definitely a better option. I enjoyed all 3 featured wines. I loved everything about this restaurant! The service, the food, the wine, coffee, and especially the ambiance! I hosted my book club meeting here and they sat us at the communal table! It was a long table conducive to large gatherings. Our server did his best to get everyone's orders taken expeditiously and did so graciously! I do think he needed a little help but he got it done! Kudos to him! I ordered the Victoriana Ceviche!!! Hmmm mmm! I loved it! So much so, that I wanted MORE of it!! My gf ordered the Chicken Pabellon and said it was delicious as well! My husband and I were blown away by this small gem in the heart of midtown. The ham, cheese, and egg arepa and spinach and mushroom empanada stole the show and were the most delicious bites I had during my three-day stay in Atlanta. The main attraction is the food of course, and for lunch I had the Empanada Espinaca y Hongos con Queso (spinach and mushroom tossed in béchamel, fresco cheese) and Pabellon with pulled beef. The empanada shell has a nice crisp, light taste and balances out nicely with the spinach, mushroom, and cheese. Nothing was too overpowering or greasy. It works as an appetizer or a light meal (doesn't hurt to get another empanada, of course). The Pabellon with pulled beef is a platter of rice, black beans, fresco cheese, and pulled pork with fried sweet plantains and salsa rozada. This was also delicious and everything works well with each other. The plantains help with balancing the seasoned flavor of the pulled beef, and the salsa adds a little bit of creamy tang. I'll definitely have to come back for their Lomo Saltado for dinner. read more

One of my favorite spots in Atlanta I've probably been to El Viñedo Local 30+ times and it's amazing every single time. Hands down one of the best casual places to eat in the midtown! The service is always super fast, friendly, and just makes you feel really welcome. Food is great -- portions are the right size, everything tastes awesome. Their lattes are seriously perfect. Some personal favorites: the Ensalada Gaucha is super fresh and flavorful, and the Ceviche de Camarón con Chifles is absolutely delicious -- bright, citrusy, and refreshing. If you're into pastries, the guava pastelitos are good, but personally I'm all about the dulce de leche ones. We picked a random coffee stop on our way to a nearby hike and are so glad we went here! I was looking for a coffee shop but also wanted something light to eat this came up on my search. I was able to find parking on the streets, luckily because it's near the Fox theater so parking can sometimes be a little difficult unless you're willing to pay for a garage. This restaurant is located inside of a apartment building. It has outdoor seating, It has seating in the lobby of the apartment building and then it has its own seating on the inside I was helped as soon as I got it even though I needed to get someone's attention. My understanding is that in the daytime they do have bar seating and you can come in and just order what you want and go. In the evenings they only have table seating. I chose to sit outside in the lobby because I wanted to sit on the sofas. I was given a menu and silverware. A waiter took my order. My food came pretty quickly. Everything tasted wonderful. I highly recommend everything on the menu that I had. And I can't wait to go back again and try more things and bring more people with me. It's definitely going to be a place that I would stop at to get coffee and food again. read more
