This place was an alright donut shop. Come here if you're looking for above average crafted donuts. I do think that the mom and pop shops are a little better, but this place does pretty well. I was going to the Spectrum next-door. I didn't have breakfast or lunch and I was craving for a glazed old fashion doughnut so I stopped in next-door to Randy's donuts. Unfortunately they were out of what I wanted however, I saw the square cronut glazed and decided to give it a try... It was absolutely delicious basically inhaled it. It would've been so good with a cup of milk, but I finished it off with my water. Service was quick. Location was clean, cute and quiet. I would definitely come back here. This is a very good and reliable donut place that always has a great selection and the people that work here are always eager to help. For some reason this location never seems to be very busy although I do visit fairly early in the morning, but they must do pretty good business because I see lots of racks of donuts and it is very rare that I don't find The one that I am looking for. Although they certainly have some interesting special donuts I always like to go with the traditional things such as cinnamon rolls and apple fritters which they do a very nice job with. Horrible. Ordered over two dozen several days ago. Explicitly wrote to check in with lobby on order. Received notification that delivery was made. Contacted lobby - no delivery. Found out that delivery was dropped off in front of building - who actually does that?!? That's the least of my worries. The only contact number was the store, so I called them. They were the ones who told me that the delivery was left on the curb, but they could not do anything about it. I asked for number of delivery service - they claimed not to have it. They said they'll look into it and get back to me. I found the web site for the delivery service. According to site, if you have any problems with delivery, you should... CONTACT THE STORE. This is for management and the CEO. The girl working today had amazing customer service and kept a smile on her face despite being by herself. I did order a sausage and cheese muffin but I got a croissant sandwich instead (I didn't mention it because she was already drowning and frantically working) AND I had to wait over an hour for my box of coffee because she was so busy and spilled the box of coffee so she had to brew another one. When I finally got my carton of coffee it was too full and didn't fit in the box and I had to help her put the hot bag of coffee into the box after 5 minutes of her trying to figure out. The inside of the place was super clean, and we were greeted by an employee. They had a great selection of donuts. My favorites are the cake donuts, so I made sure to pick one of each. When I think of Randy's Donuts, the iconic gigantic donut atop the original location near LAX is what comes to mind. It's the "go to" location after landing in Los Angeles or as you're getting ready to leave the area. Initially, that was the only location to get some of their delicious donuts. However, in recent times, Randy's donuts has expanded their locations throughout Southern California. This particular location is in the city of Santa Ana. It's conveniently just off of the 55 freeway on 17th Street. Randy's donuts is in a small shopping center but is situated closer to the main road. There is plenty of parking as the lot is quite large. When we first arrived, we honestly thought that it was closed. Chairs were on top of tables and it looked pretty empty. We didn't see a lot of people inside, so we almost didn't go in. However, as we were looking through the window, we saw some people in the back. So, we walked in! As soon as we stepped inside, I was feeling a little disappointed. They didn't have a large selection in their display case. They said that they were pretty much fresh out because it was Father's Day. I was definitely taken aback because they were only 4 hours away from closing. I figured that they would have made more donuts, but we still chose a couple from what was left. We got an old fashioned glazed donut and a chocolate bar. They honestly didn't look too appealing. But, it was going to come down to the taste test! I took one bite out the glazed donut and surprisingly, it was pretty good. It melted in my mouth. It had the perfect amount of sugar, not making it too sweet It was actually quite light and fluffy. I had to take a second bite to make sure that I wasn't imagining this. It was really good! My husband had the chocolate bar donut. Again, it didn't look fresh and we really went sure of how it would taste. Just like the glazed donut, it was light and fluffy. It tasted like it was freshly made! The frosting on the donut was really good. It didn't crumble when we took a bite. Overall, I can say that Randy's Donuts lives up to its reputation of selling delicious donuts. I have been to the original location and the donuts are just as good as the ones that are served at the Santa Ana location. I would advise people to come early so that you have more to choose from. If we are passing through, I would definitely stop by to pick up a few more donuts. read more

They never have enough donuts.. never the good ones.. don't bother coming after 2pm.. every time I've come they have half empty donut shelves and they are always ready to close when they still have a few hours to go! So finally I gave Randy doughnuts a try to see what the hype was all about. I realized when I saw the giant doughnut that I've seen at universal studios. They have some unique doughnuts I don't know if it was due to late afternoon but the doughnuts lacked flavor, were a bit on the greasy side and the texture was hard. I tried the churro doughnut I do not recommend the churros were hard and tasteless. The place was empty no other costumers were there but it was abit dirty floors were sticky. Terrible oily donuts. Tried the crondy (croissant donut). Took 3 bites and exchanged it for a plain sugar donut. Took one bite and gave up. The oil in the fryer is too old and I think too cold so both donuts were extra oily and sour/bitter. Also had the ham cheese croissant which was also extra greasy but tasted good at least. Bottom line is that Randy's is already pricier and for as bad as it was it's a definite do not go. read more

Came for the grand opening festivities. There wasn't a whole lot happening... in fact, it was kind of slow. No wait. But lots of donuts! A table of what seemed to be employees was taking up one of just two tables outdoors. My son had a cherry iced donut which he loved and was unique. Strong flavor. I tried a lemon old fashioned. Really good consistency and flavor. I like trying stuff I can't get just anywhere. And... for the grand opening, everyone gets a free glazed donut. So, that was cool. A solid franchise for this area. Despite not being a donut fan, Randy's is the one spot that keeps me coming back. I was excited to have one in my hometown and they luckily had the jalapeño cheese and ham croissant which has always been sold out at their LA locations. However it looked like my Boyf and I got the last 3 croissants they had in stock and it was only 10:30 in the morning. We also tried the chai tea latte which was yummy and tasted of cinnamon and sugar and was creamy. Definitely less of a tea latte and more of a sweet drink but was still enjoyable. Their ham and cheese croissants are some of my favorite ever and their donuts are exceptional. Everything I've had here I've enjoyed. I will say I felt bad for the one worker who was having to be the cashier as well as make all the drinks and package the donuts. She seemed to be overwhelmed and while there weren't many of us waiting, she was having to run around to fulfill orders which didn't seem fair as Randy's is generally a popular place and needs more workers. If you're looking for your old-school, traditional doughnut flavors; this place makes them the best! You'd think they'd all taste the same, but somehow Randy's Doughnuts are SO much better in texture and flavor. They have the best apple fritters, not just because they're huge; but also because it has a better "brown sugary" flavor that's slightly caramel-y. They do have other flavors that are less traditional, which the cinnamon cake and brown butter (?) are my favorites. The guy that works there (maybe the owner of that location?) is SUPER nice and friendly. Love the fact that Randy's is now down the street from me (again)! I'm an LA girl and grew up with the original one being close by. If you love yeast donuts then you will love Randy's. I love Randy's raised donut rings, they are fluffy, pillowy, big, and fried to perfection. It doesn't matter what really comes on top of them, but there are so many different options. Some of my favorites include Nutella, Smores, and the Jumbo Donut Holes. Randy's will cost you a bit more than your local mom and pop donut stores. A premium s'mores donut is $3.75. It's $5 for 12 big donut holes. I feel like Randy's has more oomph and flavor than some of the average local mom and pop shops where their donuts can be less dense and pillowy than Randy's. Steer clear of the churro donut because the churros on top are super stale. I came in at about 4pm on a Saturday and during their downtime their staff is in the back prepping so they might not serve you right away. Can't wait to come back! read more

I love donuts. In fact, I haven't met many donuts I don't love. Unfortunately, these donuts are just mediocre. I went out of my way to check this place out because I remember seeing the giant donut and people talking about how good they are. Not so much. They do have some huge "novelty" those donuts which would be cool to bring to a party or something but the two I tried (matcha glazed raised and cinnamon twist) were just "off" - they smelled of old oil and the icing was hard and just crumbled off. The guy at the counter was very friendly but didn't offer much help when I asked for recommendations... Prices are a little higher than some basic donut places but lower than the higher end shops. So F'n good I can't speak for others but everytime I come in, I get some of the freshest donas. I've been about 5 times and never had a stale donut! Their version of a cronut definitely has the flavors but not your typical layered tall cronut. Melts in your mouth. I've had an assortment but ultimately my favorite is the crumb yeast raised donut. They have it in cake donut form too but the yeast way is bomb. It's like a coffee cake without the density. So good and the crumbly top is exquisite. Service is straightforward and solid.
