Jax Donut shop in Orange, CA makes the standard traditional donuts. Did not spot any specialty gourmet donuts at their shop the Saturday I dropped by. Service was kind. The shop was pretty clean, and they had a couple of tables for folks to sit at and enjoy their treats which is what I did. Purchased two donuts. One was my all-time favorite donut which is the Boston Creme donut. The other flavor I chose was their Orange donut since their shop is in Orange, CA after all. Their Orange donut has a nice citrusy flavor to it. Their Boston Creme donut was pretty good. Took a couple bites before I bit into any custard filling. Would have liked more filling inside it, but I still enjoyed the treat. I am not in the area too often. If I were, though, then I'd be a regular at Jax Donuts in Orange. read more

For a cheap donut, this place is good. I've had it twice and both times I was surprised. The glaze is always great, it is super soft and fluffy. Hands down the BEST butter croissants you will ever have. I've gone lots of places trying many different butter croissants and Jax has the best! Buttery, flakey with a nice crust. Its just like any other donut place you've been too. The reason for the 3 stars is because theres two women who work. If you show up on the day were the smaller framed of the two ladies works, lets just say you're in for a headache. She has a super weird way of how she wants you to order and if you don't she looks at you like your stupid or claims she cant understand you. Its seriously the weirdest thing. I asked for a strawberry smoothie with boba recently, her response " what number?" I said not number a strawberry smoothie. Her response " what number and pointed at the chart of smoothies" The number she was referring to was like #10 for a strawberry smoothie. I was so sad when I drive up and walk in intending to get some yummy boba. I ask the guy if I can have a thai milk tea with boba and he tells me.....THERE IS NO BOBA!!! This donut shop doesn't disappoint. It has good fresh donuts plus other pastries and special combos like croissant with ham/cheese, coffee & a donut for $3.50 or so. Not the healthies breakfast but there is nothing nutrional about donuts either way. Donut shops are known for being a cash only establishment and the same goes here. Its nice and clean with plenty of tables to sit down. I like that they have different designs on some of their donuts. I don't frequent this place often, but the few times that I have, I have not been disappointed. When the owner is there (very sweet, petite lady), she has hooked me up every time! In the past, I have purchased a half dozen donuts for $4, and she threw in like 3 extra donuts because it was an afternoon. (A dozen donuts costs $7.) Oh, I think paying cash is the key. They accept credit card, but I think there is a $5 minimum. Some of our favorites are the cinnamon crumb, glazed, chocolate with nuts, and chocolate with maple. They typically have a great variety that includes some funky flavors, but after a few attempts at being adventurous, I stick with the "regular" flavors. E.g., I tried a blueberry one since that was the craze in Irvine/Tustin a while back, and Jax's tasted gnarly. The only drawback is that the donuts go stale fairly quickly. Even though my husband, son, and I love donuts, we are never able to finish a dozen in a day and a half, which is why I end up getting a half a dozen now. I guess that means they use less preservatives than, say, Winchells, though, so perhaps that is a good thing. read more

Jax is your typical mom and pop donut shop with the usual fixins. What's great about this place is they also have great breakfast sandwiches that they make fresh and for a great price. My favorite would have to be their bagel breakfast sandwiches. Their is something a little different about their bagels than other places. It has a spongy, chewy texture and consistency that I love. This was just a very quick stop before the day got going. Big chains, like duncan donuts, and krispy kremes, dont really do it for me. I prefer the mom and pop donut shops. I was in for a pleasant surprise at this place though. I can honestly say this place kind of stood out because the donuts were creative. More creative then your typical mom and pops donut store. Due to how the donuts were decorated so much which swirls and the like there of. It was my first official time trying a glazed blueberry donut. The pleasant combination of a fruit with anti oxidants and dangerous levels of sugar did me justice. After washing it down with cranberry grape juice voila there you have it. If I am relocated in this area for work. I will frequent this place more to see the creativeness in their donuts. read more
