Had the 3-wing crispy chicken with collards and red beans with rice. The batter was nicely spiced and deliciously crispy. Collards had a small kick, a nice tang and small surprises of meat. Red beans and rice were exceptionally tasty. Washed it all down with a large Randy's Strawberry Lemonade. Might be salty for some, but honestly, good soul food is! Ordered most of the same items: Chicken Wings, Mac & Cheese, Red Beans & Rice, Catfish, Yams, Collard Greens, and 2 orders of Gumbo Fries. Today's experience was definitely different than Saturdays. I understand that each order is prepared in the order received - understandable. I placed my online order at 11:50 with a pickup time of 12:30. At 12:55 I called the restaurant to inquire on the status and was informed that it was being packaged up and it would be a few more minutes. No problem. Went inside and informed they were completely out of all lemonades. I was offered a slushy in its place. Not ideal but since I'd already prepaid online I took the slushy. Arrived home and we sat down to eat - ALL of our reactions were the same, the food was OVERLY salty!! I'm not talking about "oh, it's salty" it was "OH IT'S SALTY!!" I came here on a Thursday at 6PM, right before closing time and it was basically empty. The interior is very well decorated and I liked the vibes. I ordered a Randy's best to go. I believe that they give you multiple meat options and I chose to get 3 wings. It is a bit confusing how this combo works since there are variations to it. They told me that it would take 15 minutes for my order to be ready, so it's probably a good idea to order ahead of time. Anyways, the food ended up pretty good. The waffle tasted like it was made of whole wheat for some reason. The skin on the chicken was crispy like a potato chip. It's very different from KFC or Popeyes. It's still great chicken - but just wanted to highlight that the fried chicken that comes with the chicken dinner is much smaller than the pieces of chicken that come with the "chicken and waffles." I walk in today at 6pm and an employee tells me I am "too late". Yelp says they close today at 7pm. I'm not sure why I was turned away at 6pm. The sweet potatoes are smothered in a rich spiced nectar, reminiscent of mulled cider. Excellent. The red beans and rice is hearty, firm, and mild. Really good. Good vibes all around. Clean.
