We were heading up to Ballarat ghost town and knew we better get some breakfast before entering no mans land. We ordered a veggie omelet, potatoes, sour dough toast, and a short stack of pancakes. The omelet was more than enough for us two and the pancakes made us full. The food was very flavorful and we left happy. What a great place to eat in Lancaster the meal was very hearty. I had the tuna vegetable sandwich with onion rings. The tuna sandwich had fresh tuna, fresh avocado, fresh red onions, and fresh cucumbers, very good.. It was delicious. My sister had bacon toast and oatmeal. she really liked the place. Also it's very wholesome a lot of senior citizens seem to walk in the door and they seem like regulars. If I lived out there, I would probably go here often. read more

In town looking for a new breakfast spot, Jackie's has some great reviews, glad that we stopped by. We ordered their chorizo eggs and hash browns with toast. Plenty of food, the chorizo had great flavor added to the nice home made spicy red sals, it hit the spot. My dad ordered their eggs, hash browns and sausage. He also enjoyed his meal and fast service. The menu is huge, each page has a variety of food options. It's a small cafe, the interior is a bit outdated. I got the chorizo and eggs and it was ok. They lacked flavor, same with the hash browns. Service was ok, it was a bit strange because when we said we were ready to order the person attending our table was like I'm going to break and walked away and got someone else to take our order which they were also confused with the employee mid conversation. read more

I really like diners. I call them "greasy spoons," but trust and believe that if I am ever served a "greasy spoon," you would be in a diner with a hysterical woman! Jackie's Cafe is not such a place. It looks on the older side, but it's clearly clean. The good was hot and yummy and I'm a big fan of the coffee. I was there during the week and it was not at all busy. My next visit will be on a Saturday and I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the wait. I definitely recommend this charming "greasy spoon". lol read more

So I've been here several times but this is my first yelp review. We have family from out of town so we decided to come here for brunch. There's open dining and you can sit anywhere. They do have larger tables for bigger parties. For starters there's plenty of parking outside and that's always a plus. We usually come during the week but we came on a Saturday today and it was busy as usual. It's a perfect diner for families. I ordered my usual veggie omelette with their amazing potatoes. I also got a side of corn tortillas. My husband ordered the eggs Benedict. My family ordered omelettes, pancakes, and more. Our server was Jackie . STEPH JUDGEMENT: Good, homey diner breakfasts. We were passing through the area and were hungry for a good breakfast--Yelp app to the rescue. We were quite early so there was no wait for a table. I got my customary coffee (ok) and water while perusing the menu. The hubby decided on the Swedish pancakes and I on the Vegetable Benedict. The pancakes came out curiously covered in runny, separated butter, which we didn't quite care for, especially with no whole lingonberries with bursts of tartness to counteract all the richness. It was more like a jam. The pancakes themselves were fine, though. I really liked my veggie Benedict--it had good hollaindaise and poached eggs, and lots of veggies. The hash browns were not quite as crispy as I would've liked them, but at least they had hash browns, which are surprisingly hard to find. The service was good and we thought the prices were reasonable. Wouldn't be averse to stopping here again in the future! read more

My man ordered eggs Benedict with corn beef hash which I have never liked corn beef, he says said it was thee absolute BEST ever! I even took a bite and I kid you not, it was indeed delicious! And for those of you (like myself) who me who enjoy hollandaise sauce - theirs was literally probably in the top 5 easily of all time! Go there... Walked into a nice little hole in the wall diner greeted upon walking in was told to sit anywhere. The menu is definitely different with soufflé omelettes and not your typical plating. Unfortunately, the waitress had a hard time hearing, and we kept having to repeat ourselves on what our selection of food was. But the worst part was the pricing two plates and one kids menu item and two coffees brought us to a total of 70+ dollars for plates of food that were really lackluster and mediocre at best. My first time at Jackie's. Got there when they opened, very friendly. Knowing the history, and how genuine and warm Jackie is to her patrons who recommended her place made me want to try it. The food was ok, was expecting the herb potatoes to have more flavor. Some of the potatoes were overcooked, seemed like they were scraped from the bottom of the pan. The corned beef hash was alright, a little burned but good enough to eat. The eggs came out perfect. I may have to catch them on one of their better days, and try something different on their menu. Normally I would give the breakfast restaurant a good review. We have eaten there many times. The last time we had a nice breakfast and left happy. I later found that they charged me twice for that breakfast, it showed on my account, I am still trying to get the double charge resolved, I would think they would have seen that when they closed their books for the day, its very disappointing. Sometimes it's just nice to go out and sit in a comfortable American coffee shop in an old booth that's been worn to comfortable seating and have a nice breakfast but without expecting a gourmet delight. So we decided to stop by Jackie's again as it had been a while and Mr. Picky ordered the eggs Benedict while I went with the California Patty and onion rings. They only do breakfast and lunch here, and yes, lunch is available at nine in the morning. All the Floor staff were nice. If it's included great, otherwise we also always order a side of their carrot walnut cake because, well, it just tastes yummy :-). (Usually but not so great today.) On his Eggs Benedict, Mr. Picky said in future he wanted to remember to tell them he didn't want Canadian bacon (I don't know why), but that he needed three eggs because they were pretty small. On my California Patty the onion rings were nicely done but the patty itself really needed some extra flavor help which was not fully resolved when I added the thousand Island dressing and ketchup to it. Also, the carrot walnut bread wasn't as good as usual -- somebody forgot to add enough sugar to it and something was off but I'm not sure what ... normally it's amazing, so that disappointed us both. On our last visit we both ordered the Mexican Papas with the addition of two poached eggs ... The black beans were bland, and we both felt that it wasn't bad, but that we probably would not order the dish again. Today was better. It is a comfortable, down-home spot to hang out and just know that it fills up early on a Sunday if you're looking for breakfast. read more
