I came in for lunch for the AYCE. The service is good, but it's awkward. They kind of just stand around waiting for you to call them. Feels like you're being watched. Or maybe it's just because I dined in alone. Inside is neat and nicely decorated. I ordered a number of things, but everything wasn't good. I would even argue that all of the food isn't fresh. If you just want sushi, that is a safe bet and I would absolutely come again just to eat it. It's not the best in the world, but it's fresh and tasty and they have a good selection for $40 AYCE. The crab Rangoon is very fresh! I don't know how they prep these or if it's so fresh because it isn't prepped and frozen, but I ordered it 4 separate times. I would come back and try more food items like fried rice, ramen, etc. Would not order again: Beef Negimaki - very tough beef and weird seasoning Spicy beef empanadas - not very fresh, the empanada shell seemed refried after being frozen. Some parts of it were too hard to eat. Bleh. Thai basil - it was broccoli, string beans, onions, and chicken pieces with a weird sauce. I assumed it was fried rice, but no. I sent it back. Kimchi - the taste was OK, but it wasn't very strong in flavor and looked like added some "kimchi juice" on cold wet cabbage. Rock shrimp - not fresh AT ALL. Dirty shrimp in tempura batter with lazy sauce on top. Happy it was only a few pieces because it was so poorly made Tempura - I got shrimp and again, the quality was not that great. Would order again: Sushi Kani salad Crab Rangoon
The sushi was pretty good decent quality. The appetizers though were amazing with abundance of variety and great quality especially the beef. A bit pricey in mid $30s but honestly could be my new go to AYCE sushi as long as they keep up the quality especially with appetizers too. They also have a sashimi version for $10ish upgrade if you prefer. Only main complaint is not the cleanest dining area especially with sticky tables.
Had dinner here with a large group of 10. We had the sushi sashimi buffet. Service was fast. Food was decent -with a huge menu to order from for an all-you-can eat 90 minute sashimi buffet. It was a lot of fun trying out all the menu items. Ambiance is very casual of course, so glad I wore those stretchy pants! I wish the buffet menu came with dessert though, but I did improvise and order a fried banana off their appetizer menu as my sweet ending.
Brooklyn has no shortage of AYCE sushi spots, and most of them are pretty average. Let's be honest, when you go to these places, you're not expecting fine dining--you're just hoping the food is decent, you get your money's worth, and that you won't regret it later. I usually hit up Sake on 86th, which is chaotic to say the least, so Rakuzen was a much-needed change of pace! From the moment you walk in, the staff greets you, refills your drinks, and checks in throughout the meal. The service alone makes this place stand out compared to other AYCE sushi joints. Plus, it's spacious, so you're not packed in like sardines. There were a lot of people dining when we went, including big groups, which tells me this place is definitely popular. As for the sushi, the quality was great--way better than what I've had at Sake. I'll definitely be coming back and hope it stays a hidden gem!
I love sushi. I'm not saying this is the best sushi but it's pretty good as AYCE sushi restaurant. A lot of selections and they also have sashimi. They also have a wide variety of hot appetizers which I love. Shrimp tempura and the short rib is one of my favorite. Don't sleep on the mozzarella sticks. It's a weird combo but pretty good. You mark your order in a paper and just check off what items I want and how many. The servers are very helpful. They fill your water pretty quickly and come often to the table and ask if you want to order more. We ate on a Friday night and we were able to grab a table fairly quickly for four.
I wanted to update my review since I had came back yesterday and really enjoyed my experience this time around. I came around 12pm on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy since most people were likely celebrating Chinese New Year at the parade in the neighborhood. I got sat quickly and I immediately noticed that the "sashimi" menu option was no longer provided. Last time I came, I tried out that menu but unfortunately did not think it was worth the extra $10 as the fish did not really taste fresh. This time around, I ordered a lot of sushi a la carte and I was really happy to see such nice cuts of fish and even the smell of them vastly improved. They also tasted really delicious and I ended up ordering 3 more rounds. My favorite was the salmon and white tuna. They were nice cuts that tasted fatty and not slimy. I think I will continue returning here, but I may choose to go at earlier times where it's less busy. Perhaps last time it was just a matter of the supplier but I look forward to my next visit here!
I've been coming to this restaurant since it first opened, and at the beginning, the food was amazing. The portion sizes were generous but well-balanced, the service was fast, and the quality of the ingredients--especially the fish--was top-notch. It used to be one of my go-to sushi spots because of how fresh everything tasted and how well-crafted the sushi was in terms of fish-to-rice ratio. However, over time, things have declined significantly. I'm not sure if it's due to COVID, a management change, or new sushi chefs, but the quality has taken a noticeable downturn. When I visited recently, I was shocked by the amount of rice they now serve with each piece of sushi. It felt like they were padding the rolls and nigiri with excessive rice to make up for using less fish or meat. It wasn't just a small difference--it was to the point where each bite felt unbalanced and unappetizing. One of the biggest disappointments was the scallop nigiri. I remember when they used to serve a whole scallop per piece, which was flavorful and had a nice, delicate texture. Now, they give you only about 1/4 of a scallop, but they double the amount of rice underneath. It's a clear downgrade, and it makes the dish feel like a filler rather than a well-crafted sushi piece. To make matters worse, if you don't eat all of the rice, they charge you extra per piece. This policy feels unreasonable, especially when they are clearly overloading the sushi with rice instead of properly portioning it. Another frustrating thing I noticed is that when you order one appetizer, they give you a massive portion meant for 6 people to fill you up before you can even get to the sashimi or higher-quality food. For example, I ordered one kani salad, but they brought out six platefuls of it, making it obvious that they were trying to stuff customers with cheap fillers. And just like with the rice, if you don't finish it, they charge you extra. It really feels like they are prioritizing saving costs over providing a good dining experience. While I will say that the service remains good, that alone isn't enough to justify coming here anymore. The food quality has dropped to the point where it's just not worth the price. And I'm clearly not the only one who feels this way--the restaurant used to be packed every day, but now it's often nearly empty, with only one or two tables occupied. That's a huge red flag that regular customers have noticed the decline and have stopped coming. At this point, for what they charge, you're better off going to a regular buffet--you'll likely get better sushi there for the same or even a lower price. It's disappointing to see how much this place has changed, but unless they fix their portioning and return to their original quality, I can't recommend it anymore.
This place was very empty when I went on Friday around 4 PM. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted. I had placed an order online and was picking it up, so they checked my order for me and then told me to have a seat first because it wasn't ready yet. Once my order was ready, they asked me to double check my order, which was correct. As for the taste, the sushi was very delicious in my opinion. However, the sushi rolls would break apart as I pick it up, so that was quite disappointing. All in all, I would try this place again because it tasted pretty good.

Came here after a hot day at Coney Island. For AYCE sushi, this place is pretty nice, in my opinion! It wasn't busy when I arrived and the staff were very nice and efficient. The rolls themselves were fresh and tasty, and for appetizers being included and the wide array of options, the price is worth it in my opinion. I would very much like to come again to try more!
This is one of those all-you-can-eat places where you have to manage your expectations a bit before coming. Don't expect the best service or the highest quality of food. Know what to order and what to avoid. It's Chinese-owned (I believe), has a very casual atmosphere, and you basically get what you pay for at just $25ish per person. There's bound to be some hits and misses, but either way you will be walking out so very full. Let's start with the bad. I would not recommend the Spicy Kani Salad (not fresh; I can make it way better at home) and the uni (just don't even try it). We're also not fans of cooked sushi rolls (rolls that do not have any raw fish) so we didn't like the 8 Avenue Blvd Roll. That's more personal preference, so we felt like we didn't have to order that one. Now for the HIGHLIGHTS: Seaweed salad and shrimp tempura were pretty solid. Highly recommend the Yuzu Miso Salmon sashimi app. As for the sushi a la carte and rolls - eel cucumber, spicy tuna crunch, spicy salmon crunch, ikura, scallop, yellowtail... all good. I'm curious about a lot of the items on the "appetizers" section, which include an extensive list of hot cooked foods (rice, noodles, dumplings, proteins, etc.) - some of them seem very questionable so I wouldn't risk it but there must be some things that I didn't get to try that must be good too. Overall not a bad spot especially since AYCE sushi options are so limited in Brooklyn!
Came after work around 5ish! Very busy street they're located on but I always liked the sushi here and staff is pretty friendly when they're not busy. The portions for food and appetizers are very small so take that into consideration! I do recommend the Shrimp Indonesia Rice It's a must have everything I come here!! They also have alcoholic beverages (bring your id!) I tried the peach Bellini for the first time and it was great! Nice date idea + Indoor and Outdoor dinning. Don't eat here unless you have a stomach of steel. I ordered the platter for my family where we were so excited because you got to choose 10 of your own rolls. The minute I bit into the tuna roll, I smelled feet. I kept chewing as I thought it may have been a fluke and ended up having to spit it out. Some of the fish in the platter had gone bad, so we tried to pick out rolls that were already cooked and found the rice was too wet, so the entire roll fell apart as soon as I picked them up with chopsticks. The rice itself was also rather warm so I'm assuming they made it new without giving it time to sit. There are so many other sushi spots you can go to that are better, cheaper, and safer. In my opinion Rakuzen is one of the better AYCE sushi spots in Brooklyn. However, the quality of the sushi is inconsistent and depends on how busy they are. The appetizers have been consistently good thus for. From the appetizers I'd recommend the grilled sanma, shrimp tempura, pork katsu, siu mai, and kani salad. If you're ordering from the dinner menu the kalbi beef is also extremely tasty. The sushi sometimes comes out warm which isn't to my taste. I do like their eel avocado and spicy tuna rolls. TLDR: Usually good food. Quality of the sushi dips when they're extremely busy. read more

If you're looking for an All You Can Eat (AYCE) that serves French fries, this is the place!!! my friend and I came here for a birthday celebration and we loved it. The service was really good and the foods came out at a really good pace. we had the salmon sashimi and it was reallyyyyy delicious and fresh. the drinks are also BOGO. I've been missing AYCE since Covid and was so happy a friend recommended Rakuzen. The AYCE sushi is outstanding and fresh. Cute place and the servers are very friendly. I took away a star because I got my order and I think they forgot about my husband's since 20 minutes lapsed and there was still no food. I asked the server and she made sure we had it fairly quick. Drinks are buy 1 get one half off but we didn't have any since we were driving. For Brooklyn the parking was pretty easy since there was no lot, I would definitely return too. The allure of all you can eat sushi is so appealing when you're hungry, but unfortunately the price keeps getting higher and higher, even over the course of a few months. There isn't a special lunch price, but at least they don't have separate prices for weekends and holidays. Unless you can really eat a ton, you might be better off going to a regular sushi place and feel satisfied with your meal than feel obligated to stuff yourself into oblivion with food. The best part is that the service here is very fast. They are attentive and bring the food out in the order that it is ready so you can start chowing down within a few minutes of handing over your selections. Everything tastes good, and they have a good variety of items to choose from. Drinks and desserts are available as separate purchases. I opted to get the green tea cheesecake with ice cream and was saddened by its small size compared to my friend's 3 scoops of ice cream. The cheesecake was served warm on a warm plate, which melted some of my ice cream. While the texture was nice and creamy, I can't really say I got much green tea flavor from the cheesecake. Was this the best meal I ever had? Definitely not, but I didn't have any complaints. The bonus is that if you eat enough, you'll feel full for a long time afterwards. read more
I've gone to Rakuzen a number of times in person before ordering out. The service there is pretty good, and I wouldn't say its expensive for ayce. Anyway, this review is for their takeout. I had gone the night before to pre-order multiple party trays for a company party. If you're not looking for anything fancy, you can simply get their platter a, which is 10 classic rolls for $40. The rolls are tightly squished together, so a few did tear apart when we came to eat them. Their platter d was pretty good, having sashimi and sushi plus 4 classic rolls and 2 special rolls. The price is also decent for what you get. Everything appeared fresh, with no reports of poisoning. If you're on a budget, you can definitely consider to order party trays from your usual sushi buffet, like this one. BTW! The server was very kind to bring out my order as it was a lot and heavy. She was going to walk with me to my car, bless her. read more
This place deserves a better rating, and it can happen, starting with this review. Sunday night, and people are waiting on seats. Their AYCE menu includes all the basics, soda, beef ribs, ramen, and beef empanadas. Service is quick. Food usually takes a while on busy nights, so don't order next round until everything from your previous order has arrived completely. I've had double orders come together, still killed it. Some of my favorite items: Takoyaki, Beef Ribs, Crab Rangoon, Spicy Mango Roll, and Tako Salad. Price is okay, they recently raised it, unfortunately. There are also items on the bottom of the menu which can be ordered one per paying adult -- Uni, Salmon Sashimi, etc -- so get your money's worth! read more

I'm a huge fan of AYCE sushi spots but this place is a mess. I completely understand how difficult it is to operate a restaurant especially given the current craziness going on. My group and I arrived at 6pm with a reservation and were promptly seated outside. By 7pm they were adding more tables and there was a crowd waiting to get in. But the sushi was bad. Every piece of fish was warm. They use plain white rice instead of sushi rice, so every roll and piece of sushi fell apart when picked up. There's nowhere near enough staff. We got someone else's order, and we heard the same issue at a few tables next to us. The food also took a long time. The hand rolls I ordered had huge chunks of fish, sloppily cut with the tissue still inside. You get drawn in from the really cheap price per person, but then leave disappointed. read more

8/19 review We were the first party at the restaurant that day. Good amount of outdoor seatings under a tent. Food The Kalbi Beef was really oily, some has all fatty parts, the taste was okay. Spicy kani salad - good. Pork Gyoza - not that good. Fried Rock Shrimp - okay. Salmon Sashimi Appetizer - good. Takoyaki - okay. Yuzu Salmon Miso - good. Fried Cheese Wonton - I'm not a big fan Miso soup - average. Special rolls Salmon Lover roll - good. Golden Mango roll - okay. Double dragon roll - good. Server was attentive. You get what you pay for and boy was I shocked at the consistency from my last trip in 2014. Price: Has gone up slightly over the years but for the amount of food you can order, it's a steal. I mean....it's AYCE. Quality: This obviously is not omakase at Shuko but for the price, it's not bad. The rolls could have more fish and less BS but there's something for everyone. More importantly, I didn't feel like garbage afterwards or the next day. Overall: Good spot for AYCE and you get your money's worth (if you are a big eater). Would recommend and revisit. Would be nice if dessert was included in the AYCE but I guess you can't have it all. read more

This is probably my favorite all you can eat sushi place right now. We went in for dinner around 6:30. Not so busy at this time. The servers know little English but in places like this you don't really need to speak to the servers. The sushi servings are small which I personally like because it gives me more room to try out other interesting rolls. Which I really like. Yes the portions are small but it's all you can eat just order more One of my favorites would probably be the volcano rolls which I highly highly recommend and the Tobbiko sushi. What's not to like about it? Is all you can eat sushi buffet.. The food is good, sushi is fresh and the service is really good. Our waitress kept coming to refill our soda & tea. But when it get busy and if you have big party like we do sometime they forget some of your order. All you need to do is just remind the waitress and they will let the kitchen know. We took a chance with this place because of the good reviews. This place is no where near what all the great reviews mentioned, fish are not fresh at all. It made my wife feel nauseous and upset her stomach. We let the manager know, and she wanted to charge us $10 for unfinished food! How would you like it if someone charge you extra for food that was not good? And make you sick. We rather pay extra 10 dollars than finish that CAT FOOD. Will not come back. The waitress chased me out the restaurant and yelled at me in an Asian language for leaving without putting a tip on the check ( I left her cash on the table, she hadn't seen it yet), I didn't appreciate her vulgar attitude. Stumbled upon this establishment and decided to have dinner here. The prices looked reasonable and the pictures seemed appetizing. When I stepped in, I was immediately greeted and seated. I noticed that on warm day, with temperatures exceeding 85 degrees, there were only a couple of paltry fans for air circulation. That should have been my first clue to leave. I understand that AYCE restaurants should be held to a different standard than that of traditional ones, but Rakuzen is quite possibly the stingiest place I've ever been to. Their "special" orders (ie: sashimi platter, yuzu salmon, yellowtail jalapeño, etc) are limited to one customer per meal. What is the point of calling yourself AYCE when it's only S(ome)YCE? It's a ridiculous rule, and that alone will deter me from coming back. But if that's not enough for my fellow Yelpers, then here are some more observations: The appetizers and rolls reflect their business ethos: unorganized and miserly. -The "mussels" we ordered were cold and had unmelted bits of cheese (at least that's what I hope it was). -The takoyaki was all batter; if you're lucky maybe you'll find the thinnest sliver of octopus in the center. -Some of the rolls were so un-uniform, I seriously doubted the legitimacy of these "rolls." How do you screw up something that involves putting ingredients together and cutting them? -The fish/uni was not fresh, and the cuts were so small that I could probably have used them to feed dolls. If you're really set on having AYCE sushi in Brooklyn, just go down two blocks to Shogun on 11th Ave. Seriously. read more

Let me start by saying they have a beer special buy one get one half off. The beer is not expensive to begin with so this is a great deal. Plus they have several Japanese beers to choose from. Our favorite was Okinawa. That aside the sushi is decent and good for the price. read more

Not as good as sake buffet quality. Small portions but easier to finish so you don't waste food. Rice seasoning was a bit too much. Made the rice too wet and sour. Definitely affects the taste of the fish on top of the rice. Didn't get to order any rolls but tried a bunch of appetizers and sushi a la carte. Out of the special box you are limited to one choice per person. Don't get the sashimi appetizer sampler. It's literally 6 piece of 1/2 inch fish. Way off from Sake buffet version of it. Don't expect much. Sauteed mixed vegetable and grilled sanma was the highlight of the day. I felt like a cat in love with my fish. Warning it does smell fishy but tastes oh so good. The kalbi steak, crab Rangoon and spicy green mussels were good as well. Oh and I can definitely have the yuzu miso salmon all day everyday. So smooth it being half cooked and half raw. Stay away from the pork gyoza though. Ugh that meat tasted funky. The interior reminds me more of a biergarten than a sushi place. Pretty modern and trendy I do say. Service was decent. The waiters were very attentive towards my friend and I. They kept refilling our drinks and clearing the table. They were nice and didn't give any attitude. Food came pretty quick. Best time to go is around 6pm because less people so service is quicker. Overall, I enjoyed the appetizers more than the sushi itself surprisingly. read more

Haven't go there for almost one year and I went with my family tonight. $22.99(they probably raised price) per person for dinner. I feel their food quality isn't good as before. Their sushi rolls are full of rice. Bad texture and dry. Only a little bit of sauce on top of roll. Kani salad made with cheapest imitation crab meat. Kitchen food is fine. Pad Thai is the best dish. But sushi is totally disappointed. Terrible service here!! Can you please give a smile to your customer??? Their waitress is so rude to us. The way how they speaking and they even not pay attention to customer. Won't come back. read more

I'm so glad I checked out that's all you can eat sushi place. My sister recommended me to try it out. I loved how the special roles were available on the menu. There are some places that don't allow the special rolls to be ordered for the AYCB menu. Everything was really good. I especially loved the crazy California roll and the crazy Kani roll! The staff members were very friendly and quick with the service. I am allergic to sesame, they were able to cater to my needs. They made sure they didn't add any sesame seeds on top of the sushi rolls and appetizers. They went beyond to make sure that everything was good and safe for me to eat! read more

Scallops are not fresh ， The taste has gone bad. I ate a slice of scallop sushi , I'm worried that I'll get sick tomorrow.
