This is an AYCE sushi spot. I believe it is owned by the same owners of Daizen on 57th st 8 ave (now closed). This spot is pretty popular but I think it got even more business since the pandemic started. We came here for early dinner on a Tuesday thinking it would be less packed, but there were huge groups arriving for dinner constantly (mind you, this was around 5:30-6pm). It must've been graduation or some type of celebration because the groups were largely teens/young adults. It was packed indoors so we opted to sit in their outdoors enclosed area. They still have AC in their outdoors area so that's a plus. Pandemic safety: There's hand sanitizer, napkins and wrapped chopsticks at each table. Tables in the outdoor seating area were well-spaced out and I felt comfortable eating with my mask off. Outdoor seating was not as packed as indoors. Staff takes your temperature at the door. Food: Sushi is decent for an AYCE sushi restaurant. Don't expect high quality. One thing I hated was that they packed a lot of rice in the sushi so the ratio of fish to rice is off. All their appetizers were great though. I especially love their grilled sanma fish. Also, liked their Kani salad more than Daizen -- they used fish roe as the crunch factor rather than fried crumbs, which I prefer. Sadly, they do not offer uni anymore and crossed fried oyster off the menu. Price: $25 per person. It's cheaper for kids. I've been missing AYCE since Covid and was so happy a friend recommended Rakuzen. The AYCE sushi is outstanding and fresh. Cute place and the servers are very friendly. I took away a star because I got my order and I think they forgot about my husband's since 20 minutes lapsed and there was still no food. I asked the server and she made sure we had it fairly quick. Drinks are buy 1 get one half off but we didn't have any since we were driving. For Brooklyn the parking was pretty easy since there was no lot, I would definitely return too. The allure of all you can eat sushi is so appealing when you're hungry, but unfortunately the price keeps getting higher and higher, even over the course of a few months. There isn't a special lunch price, but at least they don't have separate prices for weekends and holidays. Unless you can really eat a ton, you might be better off going to a regular sushi place and feel satisfied with your meal than feel obligated to stuff yourself into oblivion with food. The best part is that the service here is very fast. They are attentive and bring the food out in the order that it is ready so you can start chowing down within a few minutes of handing over your selections. Everything tastes good, and they have a good variety of items to choose from. Drinks and desserts are available as separate purchases. I opted to get the green tea cheesecake with ice cream and was saddened by its small size compared to my friend's 3 scoops of ice cream. The cheesecake was served warm on a warm plate, which melted some of my ice cream. While the texture was nice and creamy, I can't really say I got much green tea flavor from the cheesecake. I'm not really a sushi lover but I do enjoy the appetizers at AYCE places. They only had the dinner price I guess because of COVID I got the miso soup which was pretty good. Make sure to get the Galbi! That was prob the best thing that I got there. Definitely stay away from the wonton soup because the soup is bland and the wontons that I got still had some raw pork inside when I ate it so I spit that back out. Their AYCE menu includes all the basics, soda, beef ribs, ramen, and beef empanadas. Service is quick. Food usually takes a while on busy nights, so don't order next round until everything from your previous order has arrived completely. I've had double orders come together, still killed it. Some of my favorite items: Takoyaki, Beef Ribs, Crab Rangoon, Spicy Mango Roll, and Tako Salad. Price is okay, they recently raised it, unfortunately. I'm a huge fan of AYCE sushi spots but this place is a mess. I completely understand how difficult it is to operate a restaurant especially given the current craziness going on. My group and I arrived at 6pm with a reservation and were promptly seated outside. By 7pm they were adding more tables and there was a crowd waiting to get in. But the sushi was bad. Every piece of fish was warm. They use plain white rice instead of sushi rice, so every roll and piece of sushi fell apart when picked up. There's nowhere near enough staff. We got someone else's order, and we heard the same issue at a few tables next to us. The food also took a long time. The hand rolls I ordered had huge chunks of fish, sloppily cut with the tissue still inside. You get drawn in from the really cheap price per person, but then leave disappointed. read more

Ordered takeout from this place for my parents and I amidst covid19 situation and I was very pleased with the service and food. We got about four rolls (california, salmon/avo, spicy tuna, futomaki), along with salmon sushi, tobiko sushi and fried oysters. The salmon they used weren't top quality but it was still pretty decent to eat. It would be unreasonable of me to expect top quality sushi during these times, so considering, it was pretty good. Prices are VERY reasonable. The pieces were a bit on the smaller side but for the price, it's a bargain. For the food alone, it's a solid three stars. However, in total I would give it four stars because of their customer service. The workers were very friendly. When I called to add additional items to my grubhub order, they were very accommodating. They also made the food in a timely manner for pickup. Love an All You Can Eat spot! They work hard here. I came here with my family, they made a reservation. You can order up to 4 times. We put our order in twice and still had more than enough food! It was $27 a person and soda is $1.50. They add tax then we gave over 20% gratuity. The special sushi rolls are delicious and very filling. I like that they combine orders and bring out a big plate instead of small plates. For example, we got 3 orders of gyoza and they brought out one big plate of all 3 orders. You get what you pay for and boy was I shocked at the consistency from my last trip in 2014. Price: Has gone up slightly over the years but for the amount of food you can order, it's a steal. I mean....it's AYCE. Quality: This obviously is not omakase at Shuko but for the price, it's not bad. The rolls could have more fish and less BS but there's something for everyone. A friend told me about Rakuzen last year when I mentioned missing the all you can eat sushi spot that burned down near my house a couple years ago. They were rebuilding but unfortunately I think the pandemic stopped their efforts. My favorite sushi date partner and I decided to give it a try earlier this year and everything was so good. They have Virgin mango mojitos that taste amazing and the food is great! So we decided to go back this past weekend. They did temperature checks on both occasions and they checked proof of vaccination on this most recent occasion. We were seated pretty quickly and our food always comes out pretty quickly as well. Must try items include their spicy kimchi fried rice (we always add shrimp) and the spicy tuna dumplings. So good! We shared four rolls this time and everything was beyond tast. We had the golden mango roll, the ayame roll, the salmon lovers roll, and the dynamite roll. All tasted soooooo good. If I had to choose one favorite, it would be the dynamite roll but seriously they were all amazing. Their mango Bellinis are delicious as well. It was a great meal. We always go with an appetite so we completely forgot about taking any pictures until the meal was at an end! The first time we went a few months back we had an issue with slow service once a bigger party came shortly after us. However, restaurants were still adjusting to indoor dining so we made a note to come back before the early dinner rush. The service staff is always really kind. This most recent time we were seated pretty close to the door and was being harassed by two flies. That took away from the experience. These two together contribute to not giving it 5 stars. The servers know little English but in places like this you don't really need to speak to the servers. The sushi servings are small which I personally like because it gives me more room to try out other interesting rolls. Which I really like. It made my wife feel nauseous and upset her stomach. We let the manager know, and she wanted to charge us $10 for unfinished food! Stumbled upon this establishment and decided to have dinner here. The prices looked reasonable and the pictures seemed appetizing. When I stepped in, I was immediately greeted and seated. I noticed that on warm day, with temperatures exceeding 85 degrees, there were only a couple of paltry fans for air circulation. That should have been my first clue to leave. I understand that AYCE restaurants should be held to a different standard than that of traditional ones, but Rakuzen is quite possibly the stingiest place I've ever been to. Their "special" orders (ie: sashimi platter, yuzu salmon, yellowtail jalapeño, etc) are limited to one customer per meal. What is the point of calling yourself AYCE when it's only S(ome)YCE? It's a ridiculous rule, and that alone will deter me from coming back. But if that's not enough for my fellow Yelpers, then here are some more observations: The appetizers and rolls reflect their business ethos: unorganized and miserly. -The "mussels" we ordered were cold and had unmelted bits of cheese (at least that's what I hope it was). -The takoyaki was all batter; if you're lucky maybe you'll find the thinnest sliver of octopus in the center. -Some of the rolls were so un-uniform, I seriously doubted the legitimacy of these "rolls." How do you screw up something that involves putting ingredients together and cutting them? -The fish/uni was not fresh, and the cuts were so small that I could probably have used them to feed dolls. Experienced the outdoor dining here and they took our temperatures before being seated. We made reservations for 7:30PM but there really wasn't a point because we had to wait 15-30 mins regardless. Sushi pieces were small and appetizers were better than the sushi. DO NOT order the kimchi here (I know, my bad). Extremely long wait time, and terrible service! We went with a group of 6 guys for all you can eat sushi. They gave us a menu to mark what sushi we wanted. The waiter ended up returning and telling us that we "ordered to much food" from the ALL YOU CAN EAT menu. We then reduced the order and sent it back with the waiter, but by then it was too late! The sushi guys inside must have black listed us on the spot because we ended up waiting close to an hour more with only minimal appetizers sprinkling in. Everyone else sitting around us was getting trays of sushi. Clear message that hungry people aren't welcome to order from the all you can eat menu. We ended up getting up to leave because we couldnt wait anymore and it was clear that not only was the food no where insight, but at that point there was also a worry that it may be tampered with. Instead of apologizing for the horrible service and wait which we were subjected to, they tried to give us a check for $170 with some ridiculous itemized bill for the few appetizers they did give us. Me and friends came here for the first time in 2017 for lunch buffet ($13.99) at the time and it was 100% a five star. It was so bless. We hit up this spot for that whole year maybe monthly. The quality just contiously dropped and the price started to change. Me and friends revisited this same location 3 days ago and oh boy how bad of a experience we had. We all saw the price and almost didn't come back but we decided to for the memory or as flaskback to one of the best restaurants in the area. Oh boy, how terrible that idea was. The waiters get annoyed when we dont tip atleast 15% and complains it isn't enough and kinda abuses us to pay a few bucks more since we are teenagers.
