I went here for my daughters birthday, and the food was amazing. We got the steamed dumplings and they were so flavorful and authentic. The thing I got that I would recommend is the Rakuu pho. What a great date night destination! You can satisfy any Asian urge at Rakuu. Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese all happily occupy the menu. Add in a great wine list and $1.50 domestic beers, and this becomes affordable as well as delicious. We had the Rakuu Pho, Pad Thai, Lafayette roll and Japanese Spring rolls. The pho broth was amazing and the brisket was tender and flavorful. The Pad Thai was sauced with sweet tomato and peanut and was made even more interesting with a fresh squeeze of lime. The appetizers were fun and funky and a great combo. I enjoyed my dinner with Black Harvest Cab and loved the way it played nice with all the profiles. The food was very good but they did mess up one order and said they couldn't fix it. We paid full price for it anyway and tipped extra. We were adults there for a lunch, work thing and they sat people next to us and the kid was all over our booth and kept reaching above our heads and yanking on the blinds. Don't be fooled by the nice pictures on their website because the food was not good. I didn't like what I ordered and they made a huge deal about switching it out for something else even though I had literally taken just one bite. I've worked in the restaurant industry and never have I witnessed a restaurant make a customer pay for both the entree that was sent back as well as what ever they decided to order as a replacement. Server was nice, management not so much. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Fantastic sushi offerings and ultra sheik atmosphere, from the piped in Zero7 and Dave Brubeck, it was definitely the spot. The major negative was that it was 9pm on a Saturday night and there were infants, and other small children acting like infants. This would be a 5 star sushi restaurant if they would make it 18 and over after 7:00 Friday and Saturday night. As you can see from my photos the presentation was excellent. The flavor profiles were great. We'll be back, but we'll be sitting at the sushi bar. The service was fantastic. read more

If we are speaking solely about the food I would give this place 3 stars. The portions are pretty small compared to other places (with-the same cuisine). However if we are speaking about service ...I I'll give them one star. I've ordered from them 3 times, and each time someone walked in and was priority over me. If you don't mind good food with a subpar customer experience.... try it out. If not there are other places like (a taste of pho ) where the customer experience matches the quality of the food. read more

I regret not ordering more! my favorite thing about this place is how the setting almost seems "intimate and upscale" with the 5 star pricing. The food was spot on. I enjoyed the Red Snapper and Yellow Tail Sashimi, the Naked Roll was unique and totally amazing. Top that off with Vietnamese Udon noodle soup and Wow! So I've been here multiple times and couldn't quite put my finger on whether its a 5star or 3star spot. I finally understand why it must be settled at 4 stars; This place doesn't offer anything that is AMAZING but rather a lot of things that are pretty good. Sushi: I've only had the New Orleans roll at it was very fresh. I was shocked that the out of season crawfish tasted so good. Ramen: This is your classic bowl of Ramen. The tonkotsu broth is very creamy and can be slurped alone gladly. I wish the boiled egg was seasoned like some other ramen places, but again this is not their specialty. Vermicelli: Your best bet for a filling lunch would be the vermicelli. They have a number of protein options of the different vermicellis. The combination vermicelli has a little bit of everything, and my personal favorite. The eggroll and chicken really set it off. Service: The service is always great here. Food always comes out correct, hot, and quickly! Ambience: It appears to be a tad bit more upscale than it actually is. The prices are a little steep for my liking but I supposed this goes along with the swanky decor. The also have some of the coolest bathroom technology of any restroom in the area. Overall, this is a cool spot for a neighborhood date night, or a special lunch trip. read more

Stay away and save your money. Visited after attempting to dine at a nearby restaurant that was booked due to an event. Upon entering the decor/ ambiance at Rakuu was nice. We were immediately seated and greeted by a waiter. That is where the good ends!!! We ordered Asian spring rolls, orange chicken with fried rice, and garlic chicken with white rice. I am not big on seafood, so we ordered the spring rolls as one chicken and one shrimp. What we received was both containing shrimp & chicken. Despite the waiter, starting he clarified and told them that was wrong. Okay, no big deal , just removed the shrimp but the spring rolls tasted old. The chicken was tuff ...which I had to remove and not eat. The chicken in the orange chicken dish was also dry and tuff, where I could not eat it. It had no taste despite having orange sauce. The waiter was fine with returning the item after checking with the kitchen. In exchange they replaced it with sweet & sour chicken.... still no taste/flavor. Similarly , the fried rice was flavorless. I have NEVER had fried rice from an Asian restaurant where the fried rice didn't contain egg, onions, and/or vegetables (carrots, peas). The garlic chicken had a little taste but I overall nothing noteworthy. I know one thing...they have NO seasoning in the kitchen because they didn't put it in the food. Like others mentioned, they need to focus less on the decor and more on the food items. I have had better Asian food at HEB. The one star is for the waiter and ambiance, otherwise it would have been zero. read more

The food here is just okay. I tried their Dragon roll, salmon roll, Rakuu soup, and Tonkotsu ramen. Super dragon roll is nothing compared to LA or Orange County sushi. It's pretty small. They put little eel on the top. Rice inside the rolls is pretty good though. Rakuu soup is basically egg-dropped soup with crab meat. I can taste MSG in it. Tonkotsu ramen tastes weird but not bad. I've been searching for the best vermicelli bowls in this area and Rakuu was good, but not great. The flavor of the crab rangoons was disappointing, but the pork belly china bun and steamed pork dumplings tasted fresh. The vermicelli with pork and egg rolls was good, but nothing about the flavors made it stand out. We will go again to try the sushi and pho, but we are not in a hurry to go back. read more
