Definitely a place to eat because you have kids! The food is Ok At best. But the moving animals and the rainforest back drop, and the large aquarium with tropical fish make it awesome for kids. The restaurant will mimic a real storm with loud thunder and lighting every 5 minutes or so. I truly enjoy seeing my son's face. But I wish they had better food options (like healthier) because they do cater to kids. Even though I'm in my mid 20s, I love rainforest cafe. The animals always crack me up and I still get excited when the "jungle" goes wild. I wanted to be adventurous this time around and ordered the veggie burger and fries. The veggie burger is a chick pea base, and it comes with guacamole and all the fixins. It was yummy and then two bites in it got so boring. The burger was just okay. Despite the food being just okay, I left a 5 star review because of the wonderful and attentive staff members! Waited to be seated for an hour and when it was my turn the table had garbage all under it and the table itself was dirty and the high chair (that was clearly left there on accident) wash full of food.. not only that the service from my waitress is horrible. Took over an hour for our food. Mind y'all I brought my 3 year old for the experience and they sat me at the table right at the entrance so we were nowhere near all of the animals. The ambiance is always AMAZING at any Rainforest Cafe. This is our 3rd time here and needed some work. We came during Spring Break which yes, I know, bad planning. Because we are Landry club members our wait time went from 2 1/2 hours to 10-15 minutes. BONUS!! Highly recommend signing up. They had their usual balloon artist which was great for the kids!! I went into this fully knowing the food would be expensive and we would have to wait a bit. It's a unique experience that's supposed to be fun for the kids, and I was willing to wait/pay a little more for it. I was not prepared for the poor customer service, and my experience will forever be tainted by some cheesesticks... that I never ate. We ordered cheesesticks for an appetizer. We were getting worried about how long the food would take after 20 minutes had passed and we never got them. Then our food arrives, but still no cheesesticks. Our waitress finally returns and asks if we ever got them. I said no, and she seemed surprised. She thought that we had received them and eaten them but someone else cleared them away. Here's the thing... if you've neglected our table for so long that you aren't sure whether or not we've eaten an appetizer, perhaps you've neglected it a little too long. Nevertheless, I try to be understanding. She offers to give them to us anyway at no charge, and I said that would be nice. Mistakes happen, but I appreciate when places try to redeem themselves. More time passes... we finish our meals, which were underwhelming, and still not a cheesestick in sight. When our waitress stops by to check on us, she realized that we still don't have them. She claims there is a misunderstanding in the kitchen and that she'll make sure we get some to go. More time passes... our waitress returns a third time and rambles on about the kitchen some more. The manager also stops by to give a simple, half-hearted apology and blame the kitchen. At this point, I don't really care about the cheesesticks, but I realize I'm just being fed excuse after excuse while nobody takes ownership of the (now repeated) mistake and no attempts are made to rectify the situation. I also realize that poor customer service comes straight down from management. We close out our check and leave. The kids loved it. They thought the thunderstorm was real and enjoyed watching the animated animals. The atmosphere is the only thing keeping this from being 1 star. It's really neat, and I really wanted to like this place more so that I would be happy to bring the kids back. Visit: Monday evening, 8/12/19. 7:00p We almost didn't come to the Rainforest Cafe due to all the terrible reviews, not only on Yelp but that I have heard since the restaurant opened back in the '90's. The kids REALLY wanted to go though, so we decided to go and take our chances. It was a Monday night, so not terribly busy but still really steady. Service: Excellent! Pleasant staff, from the host to the waitress everyone was lovely and super friendly. Food: Actually really good! Wife and I split the big appetizer plate. The kids (ages 3, 3, and 7) loved their food and ate every bite. Atmosphere: The kids loved it! It's fun. It's obviously over 20 years old, but all in great working order. Everything was very clean and in order. Wait time: Despite there being a steady flow of people in, we waiting about 2 mins to get seated. Overall it was a really good experience. It could be that most reviewers went on a weekend; I could see it being insane there on a weekend, making the food sub-par and the staff tired and annoyed. I came here for my birthday dinner this year to be nostalgic as I use to come every year as a kid. We were so let down in comparison. We had a bigger party since it was my celebration dinner so we anticipated a longer wait time for food but did not think our main courses would take an hour. No server or manager came to our table to acknowledge the wait time. By the time the food arrived my steak was way over cooked and my brother got sick from the raw chicken he was served he unknowingly took a bite of. He stopped eating his meal immediately once he noticed it he said as well as he did not take it home when offered a to go box. He later threw up and didn't feel good for the rest of the evening and informed me of the food issue. I feel bad that he didn't mention it but he is younger and didn't want to say anything to potentially ruin my evening. I've since told him it is appropriate to bring up in the future. I tried to call the restaurant the next evening and could never get through to anyone so im guessing they were busy. With good intentions, I took my son to Legoland and Rainforest Cafe in Grapevine Mills mall. My honest review? DON'T. One of the worst experiences I've ever had. Then, Rainforest Cafe. What a disaster. We stood in line for 15 minutes just to get on the LIST, then get a text that our table is ready, only to be told to get BACK in the 15 min line to check in again. The scenery here is pretty cool!! Food takes tooo long to come out. The four of us had two orders of the Chips and Queso while waiting for our main course to come out. The side of mashed potatoes was good. I would recommend people to come here once with their kids just for the experience. They lie about portion size of food. I was told that the fajita portion was 10oz then when I was brought 3-4oz of meat they came back and said it actually is only 6oz. This was after 3 people came by to explain how 10oz cooks down to 3-4oz. I am a competitive bodybuilder and coach, so I weigh my food constantly and know what it looks like. We really enjoyed the awesome appetizer order. The chimi cha cha, cheese sticks, chicken tenders and spinach and artichoke dip are all Amazing. I split the the combo fajitas and was impressed. The meat was tender and flavorful. The guacamole is pretty standard but overall a good dish. The sparking volcano was huge, I think 6 adults could eat it. I will definitely go back with kids. Edit: we were told 2 hours for our wait time, we ended up waiting 2:45 min. Unfortunately, you could tell people complaining were moved ahead. The wait list on yelp is not accurate, we were at one person ahead of us for at least 15-20 min. The main problem is that the front of the house is not communicating with the back. I love the little thunderstorms and I like that this location still had fish in the fishtanks (the one in Chicago doesnt). Just wanted to share our visit today. We decided to visit because of a email invite I received from you. The email stated Kids eat for 99¢ in September! Monday thru Thursday with adult purchase. My daughter and I brought her two boys. One Birthday boy Jase 7 and Nolan 2. When they sang happy birthday they called my grandson Jay his name is Jase. I told him (the waiter 2 times) Jase. When we got our check he (the waiter) said that they don't honor any discounts if you don't tell them in advance? What? I read the email from top to bottom and it doesn't say tell waiter in advance. My daughter and I were shocked and shamed as to not follow directions in the email. I showed him (the waiter) the email, it is also on your website, he said he was instructed NOT to give any discounts if not mentioned prior. OMG what is going on? Though, I think about it, and say well - You're pretty much paying for the experience of eating at a place that has a beautiful jungle life feel to it with sound/moving effect machines as the animals ( monkey's, lions, elephants etc ) every 30 minutes, and last less than 5 minutes. The love the large fish tanks with real fish inside, how it's dark inside, and the shooting stars from above as if it was a night sky. The food is good, I really enjoyed everything I had ordered here, from the burgers, to the 3 types of shrimp, coslaw, ribs, & steak. I usually get the platter here that comes with all three top favorites. Really, the food is good. Is it worth how expensive it is? Probably not. Only reason I have been here a few times and able to get the most popular dishes is because we get a $200 gift card from work to come here. I can have better food for about the same price or less at other restaurants. The waitstaff is a hit or miss. They are all friendly, but when it comes to coming back to check on us, or being fast/remembering requests: Not their best strengths. There will be a wait time to enter. Make sure you come ahead of time and put your name on the waiting list. You can't reserve via phone. Usually on weekends/Fridays the wait is about 30-50 mins. When you look inside, there is PLENTY of seats available I mean plenty, I guess they don't have enough servers to pick up all those tables.. ? Or part of the trick to get you to stick around the cute little toy shop where they have cool stuffed animals, decorations, glassware, rocks, even face caricature drawings, while you wait to be seating having you spend money in their store. In my opinion, if you have money to bring your kids here to just have a cool dining experience then totally go for it. Just be prepared to wait, and pay up some good cash. A very interesting experience! Rainforest Cafe takes you to a different world inside the jungle! The interiors have been done up so beautifully! I can imagine how this place would truly be a delight for all the kids! It is definitely a big attraction for tourists. The food is really good too. We got the tacos, the chicken panini and the beastly burger, all of which were delicious. They have several aquariums too and have so many varieties of fishes! I will say prepare for a long wait on the weekends as it gets pretty busy but you can always browse the gift shop in front that's quite big. I will say if you have very young children just keep in mind that the "thunder storms" that happen every 20-30 mins or so are kind of loud. I have known Little ones to get a bit frightened from the noise. But most kids seem to love it. I know I did as a kid. This place was just awful and I can't imagine ever going back. I've been to other locations and never experienced anything like the horrors that lie within Grapevine. We went on a quiet Tuesday and the place was empty, yet we had to wait about 25 minutes to be seated. After ordering 3 kids meals and 2 grown up plates we then waited another 35 minutes or so before food started to arrive. Kids meals were cold and on cheap plastic trays, and amazingly small portions. My oldest (8 yo) was still starving after eating and had to pick from our plates to quench his appetite. Service was horrific. We saw our waiter twice the whole night and when we flagged other people down they were no help. Oh and my food was awful and overpriced. I absolutely discourage anyone from attending. Use to love coming to this place with the family, however the other day we drove two hours from home to take the kids to eat here and the hostess said that it was a 1:45 hr wait time. I looked around and the Restraunt was not even busy whatsoever! The Restraunt was not busy and there was over half the tables empty. Without an explanation or anything the guy simply said sorry and for me to make a reservation next time. So today I called ahead to make reservations and this time I was told that today was completely booked however there is a waiting list.. so I asked to be put on the list but once again I was let down to hear that I must be present to be put on the list.
