This was my second time going to FCG in Flower Mound and both times my sentiment was mom and pop, small town vibes with "big city" quality and selection. Each time I have come I've enjoyed something from the Chalkboard which has been totally different both times and neither selection disappointed! Here are a few specifics Wait time :5/5 Minutes. Came at a golden hour of 5:30p and didn't have to wait. Service: 5/5 Greeted immediately and served primarily by Ian, but had several of the other guys being willing to help us out. Everyone had a pleasant "how can I help you?" demeanor. Selection: 4/5; some farm raised, some fresh. My only catch would be determining a way to offer at least one or two more fresh water options. Food quality: 4.5/5. My dish was delicious but the dirty rice, as reported by one of the people in my party, had a strange aftertaste. Wife loved the options! Portion size: the standout for this one was the generous kids portion for my son's fish sticks and rice. My portion could've been an ounce or two larger. Big pro: Plenty of options for someone who is on a gluten free or restricted diet. This used to be a "go to" spot for me and now I am probably not going to return. The service has gone downhill, our glasses set empty for a long time. They keep reducing their menu. Now, you can only order fried fish, you used to have selections for grilled, blackened etc. What had been tilapia is now cod. Our favorite appetizers are no longer. They over-drench the salad in dressing so that it is barely edible. Hate to say it, again this used to be a place we ate at probably 2x a month. read more

First time at Fish City Grill and we're already fans! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed especially thanks to our waitress Maddie, who was super attentive. She mentioned she was home from college and you could tell she genuinely cared about creating a great dining experience. We started with the Sampler Appetizer (the fried pickles and calamari were a hit!) and the Crab Bisque, which was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. For our mains, my husband had the Grilled Chicken & Andouille over red beans and rice -- he cleaned his plate. I ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy and it was stacked and delicious, with crispy shrimp, fresh toppings, and soft bread that held it all together. To drink, I went with the Blood Orange Mojito Mocktail refreshing, citrusy, and just the right balance of sweet and tart. The vibe was relaxed, the service was top notch, and the food exceeded expectations. We'll definitely be back to try more from the menu. Stopped by with the twins after a doctor's appointment right when they first opened. We were welcomed by a friendly staff member and quickly shown to a booth near the window. The manager took our drink order while our server was busy with another table. For the place to had just opened it was semi busy. I assume there were a lot of regulars who go there for lunch. We got a sampler app and it was okay. The calamari wasn't that good and very chewy. I got a fish sandwich and the crab bisque. The crab bisque was great! The fish sandwich was freshly prepared so it was piping hot when it got to the table. It didn't have a lot of flavor and I wouldn't order it again. The service was average, the food was okay (outside of the bisque). It would not be my first choice. read more

Raw oysters with very small but problem is they were served with a small dish of ketchup (not seafood sauce), cucumber water with a very few shallots and Parmesan cheese. Who wants that ?! Not the great Mignonette made from red wine vinegar with shallots and bit of S&P plus a hint of sugar. The dish was just lacking overall in fact horrible. I did order seasoned French fries that were very good so I had something to eat. My guest had fish and chips she liked. Never going back. Manager used excuse that they were bought out. We've been going to Fish City Grill ever since we moved to the area in 2004. Even through the various different owners, they are still great. Every time we are there, we are greeted by friendly and helpful staff. The food is great and reasonably priced. Don't forget about the bar! FSG is a very professionally run seafood grill restaurant. This survivor has been serving gourmet feasts for 28 plus years! You will see plenty of long time Flower Mounders on a date night enjoying the cozy but busy vibe and hum of a well-run restaurant. The fish tacos ordered from the table menu are very popular with shareable portions. I always order off the chalkboard menu which has never disappointed. (Minus 1/2 star: My only disappointment was from the beer tap; my Shiner Bock was quite stale and nearly flat. I was so pleasantly surprised by this place. I regret not stopping in sooner! For one thing, being able to get woodplank sockeye here in Flower Mound completely exceeded expectations. The menu is strong with southern seafood offerings like crawfish, shrimp & grits, gumbo. And also a wide range of fish that you can't easily find here. My wife ordered oysters and they were fresh and delicious. Right off the bat, the service was very friendly and professional from host stand to back-of-house. Ian showed a true knowledge of the menu with an ability to explain specifically what we could expect from the different types of fish available. That's the kind of menu expertise I associate with fine dining and was surprised to find it at a more casual place. Good cocktail, good dessert, reasonable prices. Again, really want to underline that the staff are outstanding. Would recommend to anyone who likes seafood -- this place is the real deal, a cut above your typical seafood joint in DFW. read more

Fish City Grill is like Razzoo's less flamboyant cousin from Texas offering similar seafood staples without the over the top cajun flair. It's a good place to go when you want fish but aren't necessarily in the mood for zydeco music and Mardi Gras beads. After both the hostess and server determined that it was our first visit, the manager came over bearing gifts to welcome us. She had platters of oyster nachos and small cups of each of their soups. As delicious as all of it was we chose to start with the FCG sampler. It comes with calamari, fried pickles and shrimp & crab queso. Out of everything we had at this point the queso was the biggest hit. I got the garlic caper grilled salmon and requested it to be cooked medium rare. It was done perfectly! I just wish the sides could have been as tasty. The rice needed more flavor and the wilted spinach was a little bitter. My husband said his shrimp Po Boy was among the best he had ever had. Our older kids ordered daily specials and the beer battered cod sandwich stood out as the best. My youngest got the fried shrimp from the kids menu. The fact that he ate most of his food means that his meal alone deserves no less than 4 stars. For dessert we all shared an order of the bread pudding. It wasn't bad, just somewhat basic. They could have improved it by adding more sauce and maybe a scoop of ice cream on the side. But bread pudding is my jam, so I tend to be extra picky about it. read more

Noah, a member of the great staff, was remarkable; he was seen cleaning the booths and making sure the windows were sparkling clean We had the Peel & Eat Shrimp and it was fresh and good. The Crab Bisque & Clam Chowder were the best I've ever had. Wish I had more room in my tummy to try more food. We have been coming here for years now. In the last few years the menu has shrunk. Many items I liked went away seemingly several at a time each visit. We went tonight and took family there. Now there's only 3 items I would choose from the menu and I wasn't in the mood for 2 of them, so I went with the Crawfish Etouffee (what could go wrong)? It tasted like a can mix with an near burned flavor. Also fried Crawfish instead of fresh. It stated a blonde roux and it was dark enough to be a gumbo hence the burned flavor. I think I'm done with eating here now. An Etouffee should have a tomato base cooked into a roux. read more

It closed over three years ago and the one we tried in Southlake wasn't to our liking (it closed, btw). This location was AWESOME! We saw our old waiter from Las Colinas who served us. Adam. We came here to get the chowder but the Clam chowder was not chowder, it was very disappointing and only had about one Tablespoon total (of clams and potatoes) otherwise it was like clam milk.
