Rainforest is starting to show its age, the experience is dusty and worn out looking. We stopped while visiting MeowWolf on Sunday June 28, late aternoon. Hostess was young female, bored with head resting on hands. She didn't speak at first as we stood in front of her. I asked if we were interrupting her, but wanted a table for 2. She casually glanced up saying 'it's a 2 hour wait', then nothing more. We asked if we could sit at bar, her only acknowledgement was 'yeah'. Bar was mostly empty, only a table of 2 was present. A quick scan around main dining area, showed several staff huddled around chatting and 13 empty tables. Women's room was DISGUSTING!! Only one stall had toilet paper, soap dispensers were empty and it smelled like sour diapers. I attempted to explain to another bored one at Hostess stand that Women's room had no soap or toilet paper. This particular over-filled lip Hispanic person was particularly nasty stating 'Lady that's not my job'. I calmly replied that I was insinuating it was their job, but possibly had a way to inform Manager or someone in charge to address. I got a 'yeah' and an eye roll. As for food, it's expensive and mediocre at best. Chicken in the Lettuce wraps was swimming in too much sauce, Lettuce leaves were wilted and useless to use as intended. Fish & Chips was acceptable, however very very heavy on breading which made me think frozen or hiding a junk piece of fish. Fish was chewy, if able to taste in the fried batter. Over 40 minutes after ordering the food came out wrong. Over an hour after that, after asking more than once, did what was advertised on the menu arrive. I told them it was too late, but the manager, who looked 17 years old, took no responsibility nor offered any solution other than a promise to yell at the waitress later, who's fault was I am sure was the least in it. Well. I use to come to this place all the time when I was kid. We thought that we would bring our daughter for the first time because she loves nature. Originally we were told it would be a 2hr wait. It only took about 45mins. That wasn't so bad. However, we sit down to eat. We ordered our food. Only for a hour to go by and we still don't have our food. We were told 20 mins prior to leaving the restaurant that the waitress checked on our food and it would be out shortly. Once it made a hour we asked the manager to give us our check and cancel the food. However I felt we should be compensated for our time and shouldn't have to pay for anything. He proceeds to tell me how they can't discount liquor and it's the law. I guess he thought he was talking to a bozo because I have my TABC and you can definitely compensate for the juice we were served . We just left it alone but most definitely WILL NOT be back! read more

Horrible Experience. My husband, 5-year old daughter, and I went the the Rainforest Cafe in Grapevine, Tx. arriving at 8:20pm on July 3rd. After checking in the couple before us, they told us that they were no longer accepting customers. I told them we had traveled from out of town (45 minutes) but it did not matter. After calming my daughter down who was so excited to come, I called the manager and was put on hold for 17 minutes. When I spoke to the manager, I asked if this was a customary procedure. He said yes because of the mall closing and not wanting people walking in the parking lot. If this is the case, they need to change their advertised closing time. 40 minutes is sufficient time to serve a family of three when the restaurant wasn't even full. I had such high hopes for attending a restaurant my child would enjoy. This was a bad experience and poor customer service for my entire family. read more

Oh my goodness. How is this place even in business? We went for a friends birthday dinner and I will never be back. First of all, it felt dirty. The bathrooms had push knobs in the sink (how is this even legal anymore? So gross!) and the floors were all sticky. Then our table was dirty so he had to clean it while we waited there. The menu. Not a lot of great options. The spinach artichoke appetizer with chips was decent, but nothing special. And the prices are crazy! I ordered a chicken sandwich and my daughter ordered the kids burger bites. I kid you not, both or our sandwiches were rock hard. Stalest of the stale bread. My $18 sandwich wasn't even edible. I couldn't even cut my daughters burger in half. So disgusting. This place may have a fun atmosphere but it needs to be shut down. read more

Ok. I am not from here and came here several years ago so this time my 18 year old daughter and 11 yr old niece wanted to come while in town. I will say, I love the Rainforest Cafe. I love the atmosphere. Our waiter and I can't remember his name was AWESOME! Very prompt and polite and helped with suggestions. I had a special called bbq stuffed Meatloaf. It was stuffed with cheese, wrapped in bacon, on top of creamy mashed potatoes and a side of veggies. Meatloaf= AWESOME! I need the recipe. Very tender and just wonderful. Same with the potatoes. The veggies were kind of cold and not tender. My daughter liked her pasta. My niece did say her chicken nuggets were from the freezer then cooked but still ok lol. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is #1, though it was good, prices are way too high. $30 for my daughters pasta. Paid $120 for 2 adults and 1 child and that's not including tip. And #2 though it's really cool when the animals go wild, they are LOUD. TOO LOUD. You have to stop talking til they finish lol. I hadn't been here since I was a kid! So I had to bring my two girls to experience it. So happy they have where you can be added to the waitlist through yelp!! That definitely helped with Saturday crowd. Once we arrived only waited about 20 min! Food was good but nothing special for the prices. When ordering alcohol they give you souvenir cups to take home. It's a VERY good idea to call ahead & ask for a reservation. I only cane here for the "experience" because let's be honest it's a fun place! They are short on wait staff so there is a wait time b/c they need people to work in the section they seat you in. Staff was extremely nice & helpful. Barely a three. It is all about the environment, which is rather elaborate and fun. The blow out environment is the only saving grace. The food was not good. It is a place designed towards kids and the food tastes like it. Super expensive and really generic. We ordered their well known volcano. That was a disappointment. Between the five of us, we didn't desire to finish it. We didn't finish our food either. None of it was even worth mentioning. The service was minimal but hit the basics, barely. If you want to avoid the crowds, try visiting this place on a weekday when it is not packed. My family and I came on a Wednesday afternoon and we were just a handful of diners here. Kids will definitely love this place - my two young boys did, especially the fish in the tanks, animated elephants, monkeys, and tigers. The service was good. Our waitress Jasmine was top notch and helped us through the menu, recommending popular items and drinks. If you like sweet alcoholic drinks, definitely try the $8 Mongoose Mai Tai, it was made just right. The food was o.k., nothing too fancy. We tried the Taste of The Islands - made of Caribbean Coconut Shrimp, dynamite scallops and shrimp,blackened tilapia topped with mango salsa, choice of a side (Fries). The kids liked the kids menu grilled chicken and Gorilla grilled cheese delight. We didn't have enough room for dessert, but we kept hearing that the sparkling Volcano dessert is good. There's a gift shop as you enter so you can look around while you're waiting for your table to be ready. A huge animatronic crocodile greets You at the entrance opening its mouth and moving its tail. Once you enter the dining area you'll see the light sky twinkling on the ceiling and jungle animals in full animation. Food is pricey and pretty average . Where do I start.. This was truly unfortunate. I decided to take my boyfriend here for his birthday because we haven't been to a Rain Forest Cafe in YEARS! I made a reservation Saturday on the previous MONDAY just to get a good time, it's very busy here. My boyfriend and I were seated, it didn't take too long for the waiter to come take our order, we ordered an icee cup and a water, but needed more time to actually look over the menu. Nothing really stood out to us, nothing really seemed "unique" in terms of the "Rain Forest cafe" experience. After what felt like YEARS.. we finally got our waiter back, we ordered 2 of the silly alcoholic drinks, and our food. This took FOREVER to get out to us, but the time we got everything we were starving- Might I also add we had to wait forever for our drinks too? We got the rest of our drinks right before our food.. So we enjoyed an icee and a water for like 45 minutes? Anyways, my boyfriend and I just exchanged conversation while we had tons of kids and sometimes even their PARENTS hovering over our table, putting their stuff on our table, bumping the table, etc; because they were trying to take pictures and touch the elephants we were next to. The kids didn't bug us too much though. Now, here comes the worse part: When my boyfriend and I finally received our food, it was all very.. okay. The Salmon I had gotten was dry, the vegetables weren't very tender, but the shrimp was alright! The best part about my plate was the jasmine rice. My boyfriend had ordered a medium well steak, his steak was a bit more bloody though than he would have liked, but it enjoyed it alright none the less. The shrimp was good, he didn't touch the vegetables. Half way into his steak he looked at me and said, "I don't feel right, I feel weird in my stomach and I've never had this feeling before." I was very angry by time we were leaving, had to wait another 20 minutes to get paid out.. I had a reservation at 6:45 and we left at 8:35. We spent 20-30 minutes maybe eating our food; to which we both didn't finish because it really wasn't that good.. on top of the vomiting. If I could give this place 1 star, I would. The restaurant wasn't even half full, and we waited 15 minutes for a table. We weren't too worried about it. No big deal. We were seated and then weren't greeted for probably 15 minutes. We asked a nearby employee who our server was. They didn't know. They found the manager. The manager didn't apologize or seem to care that we had been straight up ignored for 20 minutes at this point. We ordered with the manager. 10 minutes later our server comes over and says he'll be taking it from there. Still no apology. Our food was brought out after a while by a different employee. Hadn't seen our server at all since then. I asked the other employee for another drink. Waited for a while and still didn't see our server. We completely finished our food, and still no server. I told the other guy to forget about my drink, because at this point we just wanted the check and wanted to leave. Finally we found our server and asked for the check. He didn't come back again for a long time. I asked the manager to run our card after waiting and waiting for our server. Still no apology for our disaster of an experience. I don't consider Rainforest Cafe to be a fine dining establishment, but I could literally get better service at Applebee's. LAVA CAKE! That's all you need to remember when you go here. And make sure you bring a couple friends to devour that beast. Okay I'll stop messing around but desert was the highlight of my meal and the Lava cake made me want to reach deep down and find room to eat more but I refrained from it. It's a cool concept of a restaurant with the jungle theme and the staff that point out the different animals as they take you on a tour to your table. The wait time wasn't too terrible but pretty lengthy, I'm guessing due to the popularity with its customers. The table I was sat at seemed to be in a congested/high traveled walk way. That was a bit annoying but I just moved to the other side of the table and I wasn't bothered by people walking or bumping into my chair anymore. I had the rib and chicken plate. To my surprise both were juicy and flavorful. I had a mix drink and glass of water to go with my meal. The mix adult drink was pretty darn good as well as the meal. I'm definitely going to give this place a second go if ever I'm around one. Oh the the mark down was for the feeling stack on top of other people. Everything mediocre. Kids had pizza. It seemed previously frozen like a square totinos (think school pizza) and a little fruit. Also hate how you HAVE to walk through the store full of toys so now you have a screaming toddler you have to threaten with a trip to the "bathroom" because you refuse to spend 19.99 on a small hand sized gorilla. read more

I think this is a great tourist attraction. You really pay for the atmosphere and the experience, so be prepared to pay a little bit more for dinner here. The service was above average - our waitress stayed on top of our drinks and we rarely had to ask her for anything. The food was decent, but as I mentioned before, you really pay for the experience. The animals come to "life" every 20 minutes and it's all just very appealing for families with children or visiting tourists coming through DFW. Well. I hate to do this, but feel it's a must. I've been coming to this Rainforest since it opened (sporadically that is). It used to be amazing. Last time I chose to eat here (in 2015) the food was so bad that I swore I wouldn't be back. But here we are. Since we were at the mall and my 4 year old had not ever had the "experience", I chose to give it another shot. First off: the features weren't operating. So there was lights and thunder but no moving animals (unless you count the fish in the tanks). Next: the food was awful. My soup was microwaved and my daughter's mashed potatoes a cold clump. Her fried food was what it was. The shrimp smelled so strong though so I can't help but believe the quality was poor. Very expensive for what you get and doesn't taste good either. Our server was amazing, sweet, and attentive. The poor quality of restaurant isn't her fault. Never again Landry's. You need to do an overhaul of this location and get the food on point. Get the features working. Make it right again. I know Graoevine Mills is almost a wasteland, and I'm betting that RC will soon be added to the list of "shut downs" in this area. read more

We were looking forward to bringing our daughter to eat here on a Friday night. The hostess took my name down and told me it would be 1 hour and 50 min wait! I looked around the restaurant and noticed that it was half empty.... Thinking maybe they were short staffed or had big parties coming in, no problem. I come back an hour later to check if maybe we could get in ( the restaurant being even emptier than before) and the same hostess, with attitude, told us that we have only waited for one hour and that we would have to wait until the time she selected. Rainforest cafe in grape vine Tcc rolled out a new menus today and the food is new and definitely improved. My wife had the shrimp flat bread and I had the shrimp tacos, they were both amazing. The most important part of as my sone has a dairy allergy and they more than impressed us with how they catered to us and ensured his food was dairy free. If you go ask for Justin super awesome guy and great server we will definitely be back the next time we are in town read more
