The food is always amazing and the ambience is always incredible. Definitely check out their brunch as well. Great unique options.

Okay lets start off at $2 mimosas, gorgeous scenery, and excellent service. I had been wanting to try the Rainbow Lodge for years, and after going, I honestly don't know why I took so long to get there. Here's the snitch: Valet Parking (TIPS ONLY, so not to worry) Beautiful ornate rooms with giant tables, and yummy muffins, cheese bread to start a big brunch with. I mean this place just screams decadent brunch with all the toppings. I had the crabmeat omelette which was incredible, I mean I was so sad when I cleared the plate. Since I was with a group of ten different girls, I also got to try this season's frittata, shrimp & grits, chicken fried venison cutlets. This restaurant features wild boar menu items, and if you're looking to be adventurous and try the game of the day, you'll definitely have to check this place out! read more

Being the native Houstonian I am, I have not gone here since they moved. I really liked the old location. Now that I've been, I will say the ambiance is not quite the same to me. I am very old school when it comes to all things Houston. BUT we were there for HH and had a delightful time at the bar. Good eats and good drinks. Fantastic wine selection my friends. Halley Puppy trots over and curls up to nap. read more

This restaurant has an absolutely beautiful outdoor patio area that's located on a few levels. Very nice for outdoor dining on a Spring or Autumn Houston eve, and even ok in Winter (they have heaters). I had 2 acceptable meals there in the past -- nothing really great, but definitely acceptable. The other night we tried the place for a third time. The service was a real abomination. Every drink, every course, the bill itself, the corrected bill -- each one of these kept us waiting in limbo at significant length. The food was, again, acceptable on the whole. I tried to avoid anything super spicy, and apparently I failed in communicating to the waitress (she was nice, she just really didn't follow the point -- and I'm sure that was partly my fault). Either this place needs more managers or kitchen/waitstaff, or better managers and staff. I won't return. read more

loved it. I went here for my 1 year anniversary with my husband. They gave us the best view of the restaurant. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. The environment very romantic and the food! Omg the food was delicious. Perfect for my taste (seafood) and my husbands taste (red meat). We ordered a bottle of wine and my hubby had a glass of whiskey. Honestly I don't remember the name of the food plates. We asked for recommendations from the waiter and he did not let us down. The bread putting delicious! In the same month we attended Brennan's of Houston the following week for Valentine's day and honestly after my experience at the Rainbow Lodge I think Brennan's is overrated. read more

Made reservations a week in advance for Christmas with my 81 year old mother. They gave us the worst table in the place....table 55 right next to the wait station and the stairs up to the wine cellar. Etiquette concerns kept me from complaining. My partner ordered buffalo and said it was ok. I had trout. No sauce...sauted fish with dry pecans. My mother had halibut. She said it was ok. Bill was over $300 with wine. They ruined my holiday dinner. I will NEVER go back here. EVER. read more

First - Craig made a specialty drink just for me, OMG it was perfect! After 60 years I have found the perfect drink! Now as for the food. We had the crab cake. Awesome. Too much stone ground mustard but amazing never the less. For dinner my husband had the Wild Game mixed Grill and loved all of it except the elk but only by comparison. I had the Rainbow trout and it was awesome. The stuffing had pecans that were perfect! Not too crunchy and not too soggy. We ordered a side of creamy smoked Gouda and black pepper orzo with mushroom and OMG, was the most amazing thing we ate! We had the bread pudding. Really good! Over all a great evening! Would highly recommend. Crab Cake read more

Had a nice dinner tonight overlooking the fact that duck confeit was slightly over cooked. What really bothered me was the fact the car valet changed my radio settings for the time he took to park it. Come on guys, did you need to reset everything to get to a station you liked? read more

Excellent service, amazing cuisine in a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend visiting and starting with the charcuterie board.

Was great atmosphere and food. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great pairing the wine with meal and loved the "back yard" area!

WONDERFUL experience tonight. Server was Cyrus and he was such a delight! So funny and informative. I had the beef tenderloin and it was delicious! My hubby had the wild game mixed grill that he enjoyed. He wished it was a larger portion but was pleased with the taste of everything. We had the bread pudding. Omg it was so good!! Can't wait to go back and get it again! Great experience and looking forward to coming back. Thank you Rainbow Lodge for a great night! read more

I really enjoyed this place. It's really beautiful, I highly recommend making a reservation for the patio before it get cold out. The service is great and the food was wonderful. We tried the mixed grill plate, it was really delicious and a great way to try new meat we would otherwise never have eaten. I highly recommend you try them! read more

Haven't been in quite a while, but finally revisited and it did not disappoint. The food was great, the atmosphere was nice and they were COVID conscious. So glad to have this in our neighborhood. I'd definitely go back! read more

Rainbow Lodge has always been our favorite restaurant to frequent when my parents are in town. Tonight was especially special and Cyrus made our night even more enjoyable. He is extremely attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, and my dad was especially impressed with his dedication to the craft as well as his insight into the history of the establishment. We will of course be back and will absolutely be requesting Cyrus as our server! Thank you, Rainbow Lodge, for another fabulous evening! read more

We had the Friday Burger, Crab Cake and Croissant Bread Pudding. OMG!!! Everything's was fantastic, but I need to make an special mention to the bread pudding: is AMAZING. I wish I could say I had a great experience at Rainbow Lodge but unfortunately that is not the case. My family and I were enjoying a nice brunch while also socializing for a couple hours when we were approached by the Manager and told we needed to leave because they "needed the table for another party" and that he could move us elsewhere. I have been to many restaurants and have never had this happen before. I never want to play the victim and make assumptions but my entire family feels that it was racially motivated since we were 7 African Americans sitting at a table in a predominantly Caucasian restaurant. His excuse about "needing the table for waiting parties" was absolutely ridiculous since there was MULTIPLE empty tables and ZERO parties waiting outside. We arrived at this restaurant at 11:15 am for Brunch and were kicked out at about 1:20pm. Only two hours. I don't care if I we had plans to stay for 5 hours you don't kick out paying/tipping and cooperative customers. That should never happen. Also we were the only people kicked out when there was table right next to us (Caucasian people) that had been there for about an hour and a half. The way the Manager made my family and I feel is absolutely unacceptable. Again this has never happened to me and it just felt like it was racially motivated due to us being the only ones asked to leave. I think it's safe to say that I will never come to this restaurant again. Clearly my people are not welcome. read more

Wow, the food was simply awesome. I had the ham and sausage small plate, Cesar salad, "The Chairman" steak, a wonderful chocolate desert ( can't remember the name ), top shelf Cabernet and a coffee. Everything was excellent. You can expect valet parking and very attentive wait staff as well as an enjoyable cabin like atmosphere. Dress was business causal. I highly recommend! read more

I don't know where to start. Rude and accommodating. Made reservation for my anniversary requested main dining room a long window two months in advance. They put me in a closet I've never been so upset and your wife and they didn't give a crap. I guess that maître d' is one of those you have to slip 50 or $100 whether you have a reservation or not can't speak for the food since they've been in the new location but if it's anything like the people running the place I would definitely recommend going to Perry's steakhouse read more

I've been here twice. The first was with my girlfriend and the experience was okay. Great food. Okay service. Then I came again for a business lunch with a party of 5. I was there for an hour and a half and never got my food. I had to leave and cancel my order. Later, when I called and spoke to the manager, he admitted that the server misread the table but offered zero consolation. Not even, "Hey, why don't you come in and have an iced tea on the house." Plus I learned that the server lied about when my table was "completed." It was literally the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I'm angry just thinking about it. If you want to get out of there in a reasonable time then you must let your server know. read more

I have only visited this place on anniversaries or very special occasions. A bit pricey but very worth it.

We showed up with a party of 10 and they were able to accommodate us without a reservation. Quite impressive! The one and only reason I'm not giving this five stars is because the older hostess made it clear she was unhappy that we did not have a reservation. The young hostess was very friendly however and was able to seat us quickly. After we were seated, we unexpectedly had an additional two people added to our party. They made mention of how the older hostess didnt hide her negative feelings toward having to accommodate them. But, our server Mary was kind enough to move us to an even larger table in a private room (reservation for room had been cancelled prior to our showing up, so it just happened to work in our favor). Although we were all very apologetic, Mary made us feel welcome and thankfully remained our server. Our wait staff was amazing and the food was delicious. We ordered the braised beef ribs grilled cheese sandwich, fried oysters, crabcakes, quail, Habanero chicken sausage scramble, steak and eggs, etc. Our entire group of 12 loved their meals and all want to return. The $2 mimosas were all champagne with a drop of orange juice! Spicy bloody marys were the bomb! Loved it! read more

We love this place,we dont get to go as often as we like because its quite a drive but I made reservation for my husbands bday because I really knew he would enjoy the wild game burger and he loved it. I had the lobster roll and it was delicious, best 1 I've had. I had forgotten that I had noted the occasion on the reservation and was so happy when they brought out a dessert with happy birthday written on the plate. We loves it, great service, great food and a great view. read more

Very unique experience. Excellent food and different. Wild boar chop was the best. Elk fantastic, fried quail appetizer, baked pear salad, sampler petite deserts all out of the world. Highly recommended. read more

We went for the New Years Eve dinner service and it was outstanding. Delicious appetizers included quail and a sampler of some of their wild game. I'm not necessarily an adventurous eater but I found myself deliberating over elk, antelope and bison for my main course (the elk is delicious and they know exactly how to prepare it for the best taste/texture). The service is also excellent, the waiter was very helpful with all of our questions and brought all of our courses out in a timely manner. He even got one of our guests a new entree because she didn't love her first one and brought out a birthday dessert because he heard us talking about it. The building itself is great, a legitimate 1900s hunting lodge that has been expertly converted into a restaurant. It's pretty pricey but everything about our experience was great! read more

I called and asked very nicely speak with a manager asking a few questions about the restaurant and their live music options in efforts to plan an event. The Staff person who answered the phone was very rude and hung up in my face. This was extremely inappropriate and unappreciated. I can't believe such an "esteemed" establishment would treat a potential patron in this way. There is NO excuse and I will spread the word of their rude customer service. read more

Pretty disappointed. I've been looking at this restaurant for a while now. We are not from here and drove 1.5 hrs. I made reservations. We were seated the waiter was kinda uptight. Not very welcoming I guess. We had the appetizer of the meat sampler. It was very good. Then we had the gumbo. Also very good. Then we ordered the main course. My husband ordered the lamb chop, medium, the waiter said "pink throughout?" My husband replied yes. I ordered the ribeye med well, the waiter replied "just a little pink?" I said yes, just a little. The food was brought to us, I started eating the steak which had a ton of fat, I cut into it and it was raw. Rare. The outside was brown the inside was bloody and extremely rare. My husbands was also extremely rare. The waiter said "wow that very undercooked. I will have them cook it longer. I'm sorry." The manager came and also said "I apologize for the inconvenience, it's very undercooked." So they bring it back out, now it's very well done. Hard to chew. For a $200 meal I was very let down. And will not return. The ambiance is nice. And the dessert was also good. read more

Overall, we had a very nice dinner at the Rainbow Lodge. It was our first time there, and were looking forward to a romantic setting to celebrate anniversary #31. We received a personal phone call to confirm our reservation that day. Valet guys and hostess staff were great. Our server - Mark - and all of the other service staff - was awesome, very professional, and timely. For apps we had the Taste of The Wild that was out of sight! It had the most tender venison we've ever tasted. Also had the Smoked Duck Gumbo and Pear/Gorgonzola salad before our entrees of Red Snapper and Mixed Grill. All was portioned just right, and of high quality. Only negative was the boar on the Mixed Grill being thin and dry. Everything else was outstanding. We passed on dessert as nothing really spoke to us, but still received a nice dessert from the RL honoring our anniversary as I had indicated the occasion on our reservation with Open Table. Nice touch - thanks, RL! In comparing the Rainbow Lodge to other high-end restaurants, we felt they could do better with enhancing the ambiance. We were expecting more of a fine-dining setting based on reviews and pricing. The lights were bright, the wait staff wore shirts that looked like they came from an old Sizzler, and the place was loud with large groups seated among parties of two. We saw everything from men in sports coats on down to men in sweats. We were seated at a clumsy table for four when there were several tables for two available. They have a beautiful setting and facility, and we can imagine it's great in spring, summer, fall. There are a lot of other great restaurants in Houston still on our list to try, but if someone said "Let's go to the Rainbow Lodge", we'd be in! read more

I had not gone to the Rainbow Lodge in some time and some of my friends wanted to go because it was sentimental. I was very disappointed and will never go back. The food was barely edible. The shrimp appetizer was served on a soggy piece of toast. The eggs benedict was also soggy and the waiter offered to take the charges off my ticket because I did not eat any of it. Desert was too sweet. We had gone there because of HRW. My previous HRW meal was at El Meson which was the the best dinner I had tasted in years. I do not recommend Rainbow Lodge. The log cabin building is neat as is the location along the Bayou. The food is substandard. I think they survive on their past reputation. read more

Since the COVID ordeal, our primary source for entertainment has been dining out, and we look forward to trying new places. I made my reservation utilizing Open Table, and I use it frequently, at least weekly for well over a year. This reservation was made for 8:30, intended for 2, which is my usual reservation. When we arrived, on time, I was asked if the rest of the party would be joining us. To which I responded that it was always only the 2, the host responded that the reservation was for 8. I don't know this occurred. It has never happened to me before, and the typical number for posting on open table is 2 , and I would have have had to actively change it, and I did not. He informed me that he could seat us, but not in the general area, it would have to be either at the bar, or in a hallway, they call the "Sun Room." We chose the "Sun Room", after being seated in the empty hallway, we weren't attended to, and several waitresses bristled past our table, it became clear that we were being punished. There was enough seating that we should have been graciously received and seated in the general area. There were plenty of empty seats, before and after we left. Restauranteurs succeed by making the guest dining experience special, and for this The Rainbow Lodge deserves a miserable fail. Our experience involved an isolated hallway, an inattentive wait staff, and an ungracious host. We left without being served, and won't return. read more

I was a first-timer at this restaurant. I enjoyed the ambiance and the food. The food was very good, no complaints there. But for whatever reason, the manager or whomever decided to kick my party out. It was about 7 of us, just enjoying ourselves, already paid for everything, then the guy comes and tells us there's parties waiting on our table. When we walked out, there was nobody waiting. The place was practically empty but me and my party had to leave forrrr what exactly? I'm unsure if it was racial or what it was... but we won't be frequenting this restaurant again. I've never had any restaurant ever kick me and my party out... such an odd experience. read more

Has a wonderful Sunday bunch. Great service and we were happily surprised it was $2 mimosas! Excellent gluten free options.

I loved having a date night at this place. When you first walk in it's super cozy. The hostess was very friendly & sat us promptly. Our table was tucked away in a smaller room with a beautiful view. There was a small heater not too far from me and it felt great. The fresh flowers and the candle on the table was a nice touch. Our server was very informative & friendly. We ordered an appetizer "the quail bites" and got a lemon drop martini. The fried quail was pretty good. The grits were pretty bland though. The bread and butter they give you before is great. And I loved my martini. I got the filet with fried oysters. The filet was alright and the fried oysters could've used more batter when they were fried. They were very lightly fried. My boyfriend got a dish that I forgot the name of but I tried it and was pretty good. We stayed for a long time and never felt rushed. We got bread pudding for dessert and it was great. We were probably the last ones left in the whole place when we were done. This is a great place to have a different/cozy date night. Would come back and try different menu items. read more
