Double Rainbow Bakery & Rainbow Dim Sum have finally become 1! They are #1 in my book! It's the perfect combo of pastries and dim sum. This is my go-to place for mochi donuts, beef rice crepes, pork & shrimp siu mai, birthday cakes and more. Now they also have ice cream cakes which I can't wait to try. I watched this place grow from a bakery into 2 separate store fronts which now has felt like a dream come true! I am happy to be able to buy my pastries, drinks and dim sum all in one place. Double Rainbow Bakery & Rainbow Dim Sum both get my yummylicious stamp of approval! I love this place!

My first visit at Rainbow Dim Sum blew me away. They are also called Rainbow Bakery. They have a wide selection of cake, dessert and Chinese style breads. Their dim sum and rice roll are delicious. The Shumai filling is large. I bought a bunch of bread when I was there. Their service is very quick for long line of customers every morning. The store is newly remodeled to connect two "used to be separated dim-sum reataurant and bakery shops" together.

Small dim sum cafe with a few tables. They don't have an extensive menu, but all the standard ones are there, as well as freshly made rice noodles. The rice noodles are made to order so it can take 5-15 minutes depending on how busy they are. I had the chicken feet and a few of the rice noodles. Everything was tasty and the rice noodles were nice and silky. The only negative is that the mixed sauce rice noodles cost the same as the others rice noodles even though it is just plain noodles. When I ordered it there was no mixed sauce, just sweetened soy sauce.

Parking in this neighborhood is ridiculous, it's only meters. They don't speak English here, so ordering is tricky. I came on Friday at around 2pm & they're want much of a selection. They don't have any vegetarian options. I got the shrimp rice noodles which were pretty generous with the shrimps & made fresh for $4.25. Pretty good stuff. Happy Yelping!

Pretty solid dim sum take out. Ordered online on their website and it took about 20 min to get ready. Their online website prices are the same as the store so would definitely recommend ordering online to avoid the wait. The menu isn't extensive but it has some classic dishes available. To preface my review I great up in the SGV and grew up on Dim sum and had a lot of dim sum from different states. This is a place I would come again. Bean Curd Skin Sheet Roll(3/5) This dish was alright. The sauce was on point but compared to other dim sum places they were a bit skimpy with the filling. Steamed Chicken Feet(4/5) I love chicken feet and they made this well. The chicken feet still have some chewy texture and wasn't overly steamed making the skin a bit mushy. The sauce was pretty good but be bolder with some more dousi and added jalapenos. Dough Stick Rice Noodle Roll(3/5) This dish is something you have to eat immediately because it's a fried chinese dount wrapped in rice noodle. If you wait too long the cruller gets mushy and chewy or hard and chewy. They typically serve this dish with peanut sauce and hoisin sauce topped with sesame seeds but I was only given soy sauce. The texture of the noodles weren't bad it was but it did stick to each other. They definitely need to put a bit more oil to keep them separate. Otherwise just be careful and pour the soysauce there before you peel them off. Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf I haven't gotten to eat this but when you order it it's a single serving. Usually when you order it it comes in 2 or 3 servings. Fried Pork Dumpling (3pcs)(5/5) This is always a solid dish to get and also always good to eat fresh. The crust was nice and crispy and the moichi dough inside was nice and chewy and there was a good amount of meat filling. Egg Yolk Custard Steamed Bun(3pc)(3/5) I think this was suppose to be the version where the egg yolk oozes out when you bite it but because It cooled down a little before I ate it I didn't get the experience. This type of dish also must be eaten when it is hot to get the full experience. Pan Fried Turnip Cakes (3 pcs)(4/5) These were pretty good. The texture wasn't too mushy and had a good flavor. There wasn't too much filling inside and it varies between location. Wish it was pan fried to be a bit more crispy but it's difficult to experience that through take out sometimes. Pan Fried Shrimp and Chive Dumpling (4pcs)(3/5) This is my favorite dish but usually when it's wrapped in the clear skin and steamed. It becomes much more lighter. The pan fried version turns out to be more oily and the skin has more chew to it. It's not bad but not my preference.

The Elmhurst neighborhood is severely lacking in dim sum options, especially after Ping's closed down years ago, so this was definitely a welcome addition to the area. Came here on a busy Saturday morning, so it took about 20 minutes to get our food after placing an order. You should definitely order ahead if you are in a rush. I don't mind waiting 20 minutes though, since I prefer fresh dimsum over the ones that have been sitting under a hot lamp for who knows how long. Also, the portions are really good and bigger than what you would get at the other take-out dim sum places nearby. What we got: + Har Gow: Big pieces of shrimp! Definitely worth getting. + Turnip cake: Pretty fresh. Would have preferred it to be a bit crispier, but it was still yummy. Missing the oyster sauce though. + Bean curd skin roll: Good, on par with the dim sum restaurants. + Pan fried Shrimp and Chive dumping: Really good, I definitely recommend this, especially if you are a fan of chives! +Guangzhou pork and beef rice noodle roll: big portion of rice noodles, but not enough pieces of beef and pork. The pieces of meat were very tender and delicious though. Could skip this one or try a different combo. Each dish is about $3.25-$4. Overall, this place should satisfy your dimsum cravings if you're in the area. Next time, I definitely need to try their HK style milk tea. Forgot to order it this time around :(

Yes, finally after months of no dim sum I stop by here to see what they have. I got the Chinese sausage in a steamed bao and a big bao which is the size of a softball. The sausage bao order comes in three. I also got myself the sweet rice with chicken cooked in palm leaves. All for me! Great place for takeout.

Brand new shop that opened up earlier in the week. Rainbow Dim Sum is so new that they do not have business cards yet. This new shop is right next store to Double Rainbow Bakery and they are affiliated with them. This not a Classic Dim Sum restaurant where carts are pushed around with Dim Sum goodies. There are several small tables and chairs for you to sit and dine. Go to counter and order from the menu board. Lots of drink selection too. Menu boards display all their current items. Staff is helpful with informing you with what is available. We came around 3:30 PM- 4 PM. Many of the items were sold out. What they have available is stacked in bamboo containers steaming. Items left remaining was Har Gow- Shrimp Dumpling, Sui Mai and Bean Curd with meat and vegetable filling. I would advise coming early during the day to get Congee and tons of Dim Sum goodies. Staff informed that hours were from 6am-6PM Will be back again

This place is amazing!!! We were craving dim sum but didn't want to go all the way to flushing or Chinatown and didn't want to go to a restaurant either. You can eat there or take out. We ordered cheung fun (the fresh rice rolls), the ha gao (shrimp dumplings), siu mai, some baos, and bubble tea. This place is fast, delicious, and extremely affordable, like extremely which I appreciate. I grew up eating dim sum and this totally hit the spot. The cheung fun was so fresh and delicious. All their dim sum was great. Their bubble tea isn't super fancy but at a great price! At the bubble tea chains it would have been double the price! We will be coming back and definitely recommend it!

Ordered takeout for the congee since we heard from a friend that it was good. Waited quite a while for it and it turned out pretty water down. The bakery no longer sell dim sum. They expanded it with more options at this location. With a bigger spot you would expect service will be better but that wasn't the case. Everyone wants best service fast and quick. For dim sum you are suppose to have it ready and done. Not telling your customers oh we make it fresh so we steam it on the spot and to wait for it. We thought it will be better sitting in. The shrimps and beef rice rolls came in 15 minutes. It was okay but the pork shu Mai took forever. We waited 40 minutes and it still wasn't done yet. In the end we told the cashier we no longer want it and want our money back for that dim sum. You have to think about the customers first and want they want! Fast and quick service or you will start losing customers!

Beyond the weekend special steamed rice rolls, we could tell from the bustle that their other products are very popular with the neighborhood restaurants. If you are lucky, you will be able to see the flat rice noodles (Ho Fun) being made behind the steaming rice rolls section. I got gong bao Ji ding, some sort of tofu and wood ear dish, and a potato curry. The chicken was super fatty and rich dark meat with a juicy, tender texture. You could really taste the wok hei in this dish and it had some pleasant heat to it. This is probably my favorite dish I got. The potato curry was also flavorful, and the potatoes were not mushy and over cooked- just creamy and marinated in curry flavor. The tofu was surprisingly deep in flavor. The sauce completely penetrated the fried triangles of tofu with slight sweetness and savoriness. It was pleasantly chewy and overall seemed to be expertly prepared.
