Soy sauce chicken and BBQ pork

Visiting the area again and decided to grab a quick lunch and a roast duck for dinner. Called ahead for a Beef Chow Fun and a Combination of Beef, Squid, and Pork Congee 艇仔粥。 Got to the counter and ordered a Roast Duck and one of their fried dough 牛脷酥。Took a peek at the restaurant and seemed like it had been refreshed. Service was really fast and efficient. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. Prices more than reasonable. The Roast Duck was really tasty, juicy, and meaty. The Beef Chow Fun and Congee were both good. The 牛脷酥 was cold but heated up very nicely in the air fryer. It was delicious! I am glad they offer it because not too many places do. I am glad Shun Wang is around and I don't have to go to Chinatown to get a decent Roast Duck.

My family loves their roast meats. We have tried many places and this is one of our faves. I usually just takeout so learned to avoid the lunch crowd bc lines can get long. Either come before or after and since they are open pretty early to late it's not bad. It's definitely not a great ambiance kinda cramped intake out area bc they use this as area for bussing tables.

I heard about this place from my friend while she was at the hospital and craving hot congee. Too bad they don't offer a straight-up vegetable congee just plain for non-meat eaters. From the outside it looks different than you'd expect, there's a dine-in area but also a takeout counter that feels like a bank teller window, with plastic barriers. They only take cash, so come prepared. The food is warm and comforting, but not much customer service from what I observed.

Great experience! We were welcomed with a pot of hot tea, which was a nice touch. The highlight of the meal was definitely the soups--we ordered the egg drop soup and the vegetable soup, and both were absolutely delicious, warm, and comforting. The rest of our dishes--fish fillet with ginger and scallion, sweet and sour chicken, and pork chops--were also very tasty. Overall, a really satisfying meal and we'd happily come back again!

A good classic cantonese place. BBQ meats and cantonese breakfast was delicious. The flavors were so authentic and made me feel like I was back in Hong Kong. No frills, you may need to share your table. There's also limited seating so you may need to wait for a table. Service is as expected - helpful but not necessarily friendly. We'll definitely come back!

Our family decided to do a large take out order from here and, unfortunately, the flavors were just not up to par with other Chinese restaurants in the area. The restaurant is relatively small and a bit on the dingy side, but takeout orders are big here because of the small amount of dining space. Customers typically order the roast meats, but this restaurant also has the typical kitchen entrees that you can order for large family gatherings. The roast meats, specifically the roast pig isn't that bad, but the kitchen entrees were quite disappointing. The Young Chow Fried Rice was a bit on the mushy side and the flavors of their food were just blah. With all of this said, I probably would just come here to get their roast meats over rice and skip the kitchen entrees in the future.

2.5 Stars; rounding up to 3 Stars. I thought Shun Wang would have classic Cantonese dishes; they did but it was on more of a subpar level. All the dishes were just ok; nothing was "bad" but nothing really stood out either. However, for a quick, no frills meal, this place will do fine. Note that they close at 7pm daily. They sell the usual BBQ meats displayed for purchase by the lb. This seems to be the go-to for the locals. This was the menu we had, shared by 10 ppl:: - Roast Duck ($40/whole duck): this was fine but would have been better if not served cold. - Roast Pork: fine; very lean pork. - Fish Fillet w.Scallion & Ginger: very bland with minimal fish. - General Tso Chicken: we originally wanted to order the Lemon Chicken but our waiter actually discouraged us from ordering this dish. He suggested General Tso Chicken instead, which was pretty good (but kinda Americanized). - Spareribs w.Black Bean Sauce: too mildly seasoned; almost bland. - Orange Beef: good but the orange flavor was very mild; so mild that some ppl didn't even realize they were eating orange beef. - Mapo Tofu: don't order a Szechuan dish at a Cantonese restaurant! lol This was not spicy at all; bordering on bland. - Buddhist Delight; slightly overcooked but fine otherwise. - Rice: doesn't come with the entrees, so order separately @ $1.75/bowl. Service & Hospitality were fine. Not sure that I would return for a sit-down meal, but if I were in the neighborhood, I would drop by for their take-out BBQ Meats.

First the take out menu says Shun Won. The inside is not much to speak of and sometimes the people seem curt but they have the most authentic Chinese food I've had. Their casserole dishes are excellent. My dad especially likes their fried fish fillet with bean curd. You can't go wrong with the dishes on rice. Their chow fun and mei fun is also good. It's just good Cantonese comfort food for me.

This is old school Cantonese food. It is good for people who is on salt restrictions, which is good for older people, not like the new Cantonese food. As you walk in they have fresh BBQ meats sold by pound. They have a small dining area to eat in. There dishes you can order with one, two, three different type fresh BBQ meats over rice and other dishes over rice. We come here when we are in Queens, we come here to order BBQ meats, roast pork, roast duck. Soy sauce chicken. And roast pig, and congee. We had lunch wonton soup, and bitter melon with beef, and tomatoes with beef. Some people will find food with not enough seasoning, this is old school Cantonese food. The Bbq meats sells out fast if you dont get there early. They close at 7:00 pm, which considers early for restaurant.

Very high quality canton style restaurant for congee, noodles, over-rice, and roast meat. I personally come here once a week because of the price that it offers for the quality of food. Not going to find a fancy dining experience here, but definitely great bang for the buck kind of restaurant locally in Elmhurst. My personal favorite is their salt & pepper fried pork chop over rice, tender and juicy insider. Their congee is also top-notch, especially the preserved-egg congee. Don't forget to get their fried sweet dough, pretty unique in NY, although it's common in Canton China. Service was okay, but not something I would value highly at this price point.

Saw the great reviews and amazing pictures of the Cantonese BBQ items so I was super excited to try this place. After grocery shopping dropped by here at approximately 11am and picked up a bbq pork over rice and roast pork over rice. $8 a piece for each of these and if you get it by the pound it's $14 a pound. That's quite good from a pricing standpoint. I made sure to take off the lid for the roast pork so the skin can stay crispy. Now granted it took me about an hour to get home since I had to drop my mom off first, I opened up the BBQ pork rice and notice there's very little color on the pork. I tend to like mine a little bit more on the done side but this was pretty anemic looking. Meat was tender but unflavorful. Veggies were a bit bitter. Rice was ok but probably could've used a bit more soy sauce since the ratio of meat and veggie to rice was not great. So the roast pork, it wasn't crispy and also not flavorful. In conclusion, BBQ pork needs salt and to be cooked more. Roast pork needs salt, and I'll have to try this again to see if the skin is crispy in round two.

My mom wanted char siu specifically from this place... I also bought some in Flushing for myself...I noticed it had a C rating and decided to call my mom but I couldn't contact her so I went ahead and bought only half a pound. No line, nobody but us on a Sunday. A bad sign... Back in the day, this place was so damn busy, there was a line out the door even when Covid was so scary... I used to come here to get congee and even that sucked the last time I was here and I wouldn't have come back if my mom didn't ask me to. We did a taste test and in the end I gave my mom the char siu I bought from Flushing. Wasn't too salty but had a nice lean and fatty mix and I just didn't want to risk getting her sick. L tried the char siu from Shun Wang and it was bland but also really old. Too lean, so dry. I think I'm just going to throw it away and I rarely ever waste food but if something's bad, I don't want it. Lack of customers, food quality has definitely gone down, C rating. If I really want Char Siu, I'll go to my favorite place in Chinatown.

Didn't have a lot of things we wanted to order (sea bass with black bean sauce) but if you recognize an "og" Chinese restaurant, you'll definitely enjoy the peking and roast duck, Chinese vegetables and chicken with black bean sauce. When I'm in the area I will come back and try the barbecue pork and report back :) CASH ONLY!

The Sweet and Sour Pork Chop (3/5) had potential, but each piece was sliced too thin and over fried, making the whole thing unnecessarily crispy instead of tender. The Fish Maw Soup (3/5) lacked the depth of flavor we were hoping for. Chicken fried rice (2.5/5): tasted like what you would expect, Americanized fried rice The Highlights: The Mayo Shrimp (3.5/5) was a better dish; we appreciated the nice crispiness, and it was an interesting take to serve the mayo on the side. The Snow Peas with Garlic (4/5) was perfectly executed, fresh and garlicky, a simple but standout veggie dish. FYI: cash only

Once we placed our order and were enjoying the roasted peanuts and free spicy cabbage we realized why everyone had their winter coats on, it felt like they had the AC on and it must have been 55° in the restaurant. I told everyone that once the food arrived things would warm up. Each dish that came out of the kitchen was perfectly cooked and was delicious. The salt & pepper squid with it's minced jalapeños kept us warm enough until the half chicken with garlic and filet mignon and Chinese broccoli came out in rapid succession. The star of the show turned out to be the giant sized pan fried flounder which was not only big but quite scrumptious. Unlike the little scrawny flounder that most other restaurants usually served this was a quite large and very meaty and perfectly cooked. The last dish to come out was a very large plate of chicken fried rice with salted fish. If it were not for the lack of heat, I would have given Chef Wong Bistro 5 stars!

The people in the front are always very friendly.

Food is good, service isn't…read more I came in the afternoon, it's not busy so it's just one waiter. I sat down as a party of one, the waiter put down their pot of complimentary tea then immediately asked me what I want to order as he's handing me the menu. I asked if I can look at the menu first. I ordered a bowl of the preserved egg/pork congee and a bowl of wonton soup. The food came quickly, maybe 1-2min. The waiter then proceeded to bend down close to my face (too close for comfort) and asked me in Chinese if I can finish the food or not. His mandarin is a bit hard to understand so I was a bit perplexed if I misheard the question and asked him again then he turned to leave and literally waved me off with his arms (ok..?) Food was hot and excellent. Each wonton piece had large pieces of shrimp in it. Overall delicious and yes I finished it! I haven't finished my wonton soup yet when the waiter puts the bill down on the table without me asking for it (what's the rush??). Price came out to be $15.75 for the 2 bowls. I was actually thinking of getting half of the scallion oil chicken to go. I asked him if I can order through him or by the meats counter he said he can do it and added the price to the receipt which now came out to be $31.75. I waited a few more min, he asked me if I wanted the tea pointing to the tea pot I said yes please leave it...he then pours me a cup and takes away the entire pot like he's protecting it from me, like what?! I was fuming by now but he came back to tell me like I can't read that my total is $35 (he said that bc he wants to make sure I'm clear to leave a tip...also when and what have I done to make him think I'm not tipping, I have never dined in without tipping less than 18% regardless of service...). I proceeded to hand him $36 and walked out. It's like he couldn't wait to get rid of me or something. Never coming here again to dine in, maybe take out only. This place is cash only btw. If not for the food I'd give 1 star for this epically terrible experience!!! This person should NOT be in the service industry.

I would gave them a 2 star for yesterday's experience. First, the place was empty on a Friday night at 10:00pm. Probably have 3 takeout order while we were sitting down. The first time I went was on a weekday night back in December, and there were more patrons. Not sure if the place is going down hill, but they dont have slushies anymore. We had the mango slushies the first time, and the only drinks available was whatever bottle drinks they have in the fridge. Mind you, they dont serve you water, so you have to get drinks since the food is garlicky or spicy. We wound up getting the milk tea ice rice this time. It was ok. I never tried it, but the rice is a bit hard. I won't order again. Best dish is large eggplant. Very flavorable, maybe a bit too garlicky. Will order this again. Also, the chicken wing is huge, for the price of $3 each. Thats why we ordered 2 chicken wing this time. But, I think it wasnt grilled as nice as my first time. Still good since it is a lot of meat for the price of $3. Lotus root is also pretty good, glazed with sugar. The worst i would say is the lamb, a bit too chewy, lack of flavor. The bathroom has all sorts of postcard of famous album. I found that pretty neat. Lastly, I think the squid tentacles is much smaller than before.

I couldn't be happier with my experience here…read more The service is friendly and the QR code ordering system is very convenient. It was so cold out the night I went so I was very happy they kept it nice and warm inside the restaurant. There's a very large selection of skewers, they have basically everything you could want. I especially appreciate that you can order just one of any skewer, unlike some other places where certain types only come in orders of 3 etc, allowing you to order a large variety even if you're dining alone. The seasoning was delicious, and every skewer was not coated in identical seasoning. None of it was spicy at all if that's what you're looking for, but none were lacking in flavor. The meat was juicy and you could taste the smoke from the grill. I loved the different textures of vegetables which were all well cooked. I'm still thinking about the crunchy exterior of the rice cake. I think my favorite skewer was the lotus root, which was perfecting complimented by the seasoning mix. An amazing meal! 16 skewers came out to less than $50. I look forward to returning!
