BBQ in Colorado is...not very good. Ragin' Hog is very good, though. Best I've had so far in the metro area. The burnt ends are excellent, and the buttermilk pie was so damn good. All of the sides taste great, too. I've been here several times and will definitely go back. It is a bit pricey, though, so be prepared. read more

I Googled best BBQ in Denver because we wanted to try something different then our usual spot. Ragin Hog was first on the list. It's a small space with I think about 5 or 6 tables inside & a couple outside. The woman at the counter was very friendly & took our order immediately so that was great. My 3 stars is for the food mainly. My wife and I split a 3 meat combo & had a slice of the buttermilk pie. We loved the pie! A must order! Our 3 meats were brisket, burnt ends and sausage. Sides were coleslaw & cornbread. Unfortunately the brisket & burnt ends were very dry & lacked flavor. Really good brisket should just pull apart but ours did not. There was just no tenderness whatsoever. Fortunately they have a great sauce bar with several different kinds & that helped the meat along. I thought the sausage was better, but again a little dry & lacked flavor. Once again sauce saved the day. We really liked the flavor of the coleslaw, but I thought it maybe had too much dressing as it was a bit soupy. Cornbread also dry unfortunately. Overall the amount of food you get for the price is good, prompt & friendly service, but the food was just average. read more

First time here. The burnt ends were the best I had. Moist and smokey flavor. And you get desert with a combo meal. Try the buttermilk pie. Service was super nice, like she really cared about your happiness. The wait for food was short with a steady stream of customers. There's only 3 outdoor tables that look out to a Safeway parking lot. No indoor dining yet, besides its very small. The only minor thing I can think of is they don't serve on those metal trays. Food is in takeaway boxes. All around recommend. read more

Excellent. Been coming here for years and it's always been the same very nice couple from Arkansas serving up first rate, homestyle style southern BBQ along with welcoming customer service. I've only ever got the pork and the burnt ends. Each are amazing. Sides are all great, I recommend the Brunswick Stew. The sauces are epic. They have 5-6 different ones - each representing all the major BBQ styles of the country. The prices are very agreeable, especially the combos. read more

Raging hog's BBQ is excellent. It's the type of place that sells out of meats early. So make sure YOU get there early! Last visit we sampled the baby back ribs which were so delicious and full of meat, as well as the hot link and it was equally as delicious as the ribs. I recommend the Mac and cheese and potato salad for sides. The Mac and cheese is traditional in a nice cheese sauce. The potato salad was not your traditional mustard potato salad, it almost tasted like a baked potato with sour cream. I loved it. For dessert they have homemade pie and cookies. Mmmmm! Highly recommend! read more

I thoroughly enjoyed the meal & waffled between 4 & 5 stars.. anything less than 4 is simply wrong. Ended up going w 4 since lived in Austin recently & glorious memories of Franklin & Terry Black's are still fresh in my mind. The brisket & chicken were both a bit dry & that's the deduction. Thankfully the sauces were great & as good as you'd find in KC. Balanced it out well. Sides were respectable enough, but don't have to carry the meal. Mac & cheese was buttery & adequate. Corn bread melted in the mouth & green beans were the favorite of the group. The buttermilk pie looks weak, but exceeded expectations. I'm sure I'll order from here again & so should you! read more

#EXCELLENTFOOD! #Excellent Service! A sure bet for even the most discerning #BBQ lover. The baby back ribs, beef brisket, burnt ends and buttermilk pie are all outstanding. Really good. I'm from Minneapolis,MN and when I travel I try to visit local BBQ restaurants. Having tried really good bbq joints and some really bad joints, I have to say Ragin' Hog is up there with the best. There is nothing left to say other than get yourself over here and try their BBQ. You will be glad you did. read more

So as I travel through the US I'm always on the hunt for good bbq. I actually try it in every new state or city I stay in. There were a lot of choices but based on the reviews I gave this place a chance. I was not disappointed and the staff was super friendly and feel for the portion and price it's a great value! I got the three meat plate and thought the burnt ends and brisket were my favorite. Give them a chance and get ready to leave full! read more

Southern BBQ at it's best! Rare find in Colorado and so tasty! The Green Chili Stew is Keto Friendly and amazing!! The burnt ends are juicy and full of flavor. The Brisket has a great smoked ring on them, they have great flavor. The beans and green beans were great sides. Service was so impressive and customized to our experience! I highly recommend this place and a must try. We loved loved loved!! read more

This place is really great BBQ. I'm no expert by any means, I honestly really really love BBQ. Like, I'm cool with Brothers BBQ stuff (chain/franchise places) in a pinch, but love checking out a real deal type of place. Which this is. Perfect place to grab a whole mess of meat and sides and feed the family. We don't live very close and it's worth the drive. I loved their mustard based sauce. Probably my favorite. We usually get the pork. All the sides are really good. read more

Wow! So this place is hidden and one must look for it. One can see the sign on the east side door that one must go to to the west side entrance! This place brings home hospitality, kindness and they don't rush u out and they don't require u to pay immediately. Very friendly and there meats are super good. You can feed three people for under 30 bucks! Plus there super great with service dogs! I asked about my service dog buying a side order of meat for my SD who is working hard and the meat prep person came out and gave me a heaping side of meat for My service dog! There locally owned and operated and owned by a husband and wife! I will be back! Thank u for rocking it out!! read more

Finally got around to hitting this place up for lunch on my local BBQ tour and I have really mixed emotions. I really want to love this place, but the food was just ok. I have eaten at a few BBQ joints in Arkansas as I go there often, and Ragin' Hog is fairly comparable to many of them in that the meats are typically not that great plain and they focus on the sauce. I tried the pork, ribs, green beans, BBQ beans, slaw, and ice tea. The good stuff: Super nice and helpful owners Very clean restaurant and restrooms Chill hole-in-the-wall vibe Tasty BBQ sauces Very reasonable prices Decent quality sides Large portions Smooth tea The 'meh: Meat was tender but a little dry No smoke flavor No bark I will probably give it another shot next time I am in the area due to the prices being so low ($17 for two meats, two sides, dessert, and drink!) and I want to try the dessert (stuck with my resolution for the month). read more

Before I give my opinion in any detail beyond some stars, I feel it's important to say... I don't give a damn what your favorite style of BBQ is. That's because I didn't grow up with a BBQ tradition to have been indoctrinated into. In fact, I never knew what good food of any sort was until I escaped the midwest. The midwest has some nice values, so it's a good place to be FROM. It's a good place to be FROM because the midwest doesn't know anything about decent food except comfort foods, and some of those - such as Aunt Agnes' Famous Jello Salad are referred to be entirely different names in other parts of the country. Names such as Culinary Abomination or Crime Against Humanity. Having that sort of gustatory upbringing really makes one appreciate good food all the more once one is finally exposed to it, and it tends to dissuade one from religious beliefs about food. As a result, I am BBQ agnostic. I think if BBQ is made well, the style doesn't matter, it will be tasty. And, like pizza, I believe that if you are one of those who claims there is only One True BBQ, and no other sort is worth making or eating, then I suggest that maybe you don't actually like barbecue as much as you think you do. All this to establish my biases about barbecue, since so many people seem to think said biases are so darned important. Ragin Hog is proud that they make Southern Style barbecue and none other. Well that's fine and dandy, but you dear reader need to understand that I couldn't define Southern Style BBQ if you put a gun to my head. I don't CARE. What I do care about is quality, and for me that revolves around the moisture/dryness and texture of the meat, the sauces or rubs not sucking (obviously) and especially how heavily smoked it is. A major let-down for me is when the meat just doesn't smell smoky to me. Note: I don't smoke tobacco and I have a damn fine sense of smell when I'm not having a rare allergy moment. There's a Texas style joint in Superior that smells great when you walk in, but if you take the meat away and smell it later, it's as if yours was made somewhere else, somewhere without all that annoying smoke in the air. So if I get some joint's takeout home, I hope and expect that when I open the container it will smell like a campfire. Ragin Hog's meat is like that. It's smoky. It's good too. They have Georgia, Memphis, and Carolina style sauces, which aren't overly sweet (yay!) and I do love me some sauces, but if you don't, and your priority is nicely-smoked meats, man, you can just stop looking, at least in the Highlands area - we don't have anything else in the area that I've found that even comes close. Their portions are generous; we picked up takeout 2 days ago (they hardly seem to do any in-house business, they only have a small dining area, and I've never seen anyone using it so CV-19 hopefully isn't impacting them too badly), I bought what I assumed would give us two meals each, and my wife and I have just finished meal pair #3 and we still have leftovers. So the price ends up being good too. read more

I've lived close to this place for years, but finally stopped by today since I was at the DMV. It was lunchtime on a Thursday (although during pandemic) and there was no line - just one other customer. Based on how fantastic the food was, I'm shocked that this place isn't packed! Pros: The burnt ends are on another level. Almost perfect. The sides punches above their weight class too. I ordered the collard greens to be "healthy" and they were surprisingly delicious. The green chile stew was excellent as well. The buttermilk pie was fantastic. Cons: None, really. The brisket was pedestrian, but I didn't specifiy if I wanted lean or fatty-side. They were very lean, which is fine if you're into that. I lived in TX for 9 years and have been to all of the legendary BBQ joints in TX (Snows, Luling, Black's, Kreuz, Killen's, LA Barbecue, Louie Mueller, etc). This place could easily survive in Central Texas. read more

This is a hole in the wall place that all the locals know about because the people who run it are friendly, the food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. My mom had a 2 meat combo meal and raved about how the potato salad was creamy deliciousness, the green beans were seasoned perfectly and the meat was soft butter tender. I agree about the meat, I had brisket and would add the corn bread would make a Southerner miss home and the sweet BBQ sauce was delightful. It ain't a fancy place but it has all you need. read more

My daughter and her husband bought Father's Day food here and our group of 8 greatly enjoyed it all. Favorites were the burnt ends and the ribs. Coleslaw was outstanding with rich flavor. Baked beans good but could have used some bacon. Pulled pork was a bit dry but still very good. Our favorite sauce was the sweet and dark one. Would definitely buy BBQ here again, it is one of the top BBQ spots in Denver area. 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5. read more

Best BBQ in Denver! Loved my brisket sandwich and slaw! Thanks, I will be back often.

Now this place does good southern BBQ! I love this place a lot. The tenderness of their meat is just right. It follows the rules of BBQ in terms of you don't need to add anything and I mean anything to it. The meat still had a nice rich flavor that was delicious and savory. The amount of meat they give you is always perfection. You should always be given a bit more than can fit on the bun and they made sure that was well taken care of. I had enough for anouther small meal a few hours later which worked out well. The pork was done perfectly. Their sides are also made nicely and had a nice flavor to them. The amount of sides they have are also wonderful in terms of different things to choose from. They are the only BBQ place in Denver that so far has my southern approval lol. I got this for delivery and they made it to my place in record time. I believe only took them about 20 minutes total which is fantastic for a place like this. Pro- Flavor and savory meat, size of portion, delivery time, price, and side choices Con- wish side portion cups were a little bigger. read more

Great service. All the bbq is smoked and made fresh so get there early because they tend to run out of popular items. I ordered a 3 piece combo and shared it. What a cool little local spot! This place has been here for so long and I cannot believe I have never tried it before. Have always heard some great things about it and I am so glad I finally came in to bring some food home for dinner. I had the two meat plate, with chicken and pork. The sauces were wonderful and homemade! My favorites were the Memphis and Sweet. The Hot was also pretty decent. We also ordered some mac and cheese, collard greens, cole slaw, and baked beans. All of the sides were tasty, with the baked beans and cole slaw being the most flavorful. I love that everything is homemade and the owners and other people who work there are super friendly and knowledgable. The two meat plate is enough for more than two people to enjoy easily. Definitely reasonably priced and tasty when you are in the mood for some good local BBQ. Can't wait to return! PS...(when you see the store front on Lowell, make a turn into the parking lot, and park behind the store, as the entrance faces Safeway) read more

We tried Raging Hog right after it opened! WONDERFUL people and delicious smoked Barbeque ! We have never in all these years been disappointed. The ribs are so well finihed, so meaty +falling off the bone. The generous portions on sandwiches never disappoint. All the sides are made in house in the style of their original family recipes in Arkansas. The coleslaw is the best spicy coleslaw I've ever had. The house made BBQ sauces are all GREAT- Don't miss it ! Now that it's Fall they will once again have soups. OMG - all are soooo good! THESE homemade soups are available until they run out daily. Im hooked on them! PLEASE Support this family business. THE PANDEMIC was hard for them and now the high costs of everything and short supplies makes it even harder! Wow! I have LI iced and tried BBQ in many states but have to say this is the best that I i remember having. It's a small place in a strip mall and when they selL out, they aree done for the day. Driving back from Golden for the Coors Brewery, we were looking for something to eat. We came across Ragin' Hogs and decided to stop in. We both had the 2 meat plate. I picked smoked pork and ribs (came with 3 ribs) and my girlfriend chose smoked pork and smoked chicken. For sides we chose macaroni and cheese, baked beans and green beans. And both of us had the buttermilk pie for dessert. The meat was smoked to perfection and the sides were delicious! Not to mention the buttermilk pie which I had never tried before. I think the best thing about this place was their choices of sauces. Memphis, Carolina, Georgia, Sweet and Hot. My personal favorites were the Memphis and the Georgia. Besides the food which was delicious, the service was even better! The lady that helped us was very helpful and talked to us about our trip to Colorado. read more

When Doug Y. recommends a bbq restaurant, I'm on my way. It was excellent. It's not a fancy place; it's a Mom and Pop in the best sense of the expression. The "Mom" is listed on their business card as the pitmaster. When I asked, she told me that she is from Arkansas and is doing Memphis-style barbeque. They pride themselves on not reheating anything -- everything is fresh out of the smoker, and it shows in the quality. The ribs were tender and flavorful, not steamtable-ish. They also pride themselves on sides made from scratch. I loved the slaw and baked beans. My husband liked the mac & cheese. The prices are reasonable. They only take cash in an effort to keep prices as low as possible. For instance, a half rack of ribs, 2 small sides, a drink, dessert and tax is $15. They have a wide variety of homemade sauces. She (I think her name is Colleen) recommended a combination of the Memphis and the sweet on the ribs. I thought it was great. My husband tried the pulled pork and hot links, and he thought those were also excellent. There should be a line waiting to get into this place! read more

Highly recommended. You need to go early as they often sell out. And, when they do, they close for the day. - No Wi-Fi. - Cash only! - No beer. - No website. - Atmosphere is stark and uninviting. Food is delicious! I ordered delivery and paid a $5 delivery charge which is pretty reasonable and very convenient for ordering food when I can't leave work and go pick it up. Price is very reasonable for the portion sizes, o have a full meal of leftovers. The potato salad is to die for, it's full of dill which I love. Another great thing is none of the meat dishes are cooked in BBQ sauce that has gluten! It's so annoying to go to a BBQ restaurant and not be able to eat half of the food because it is soaked in a sauce that has gluten. I will definitely be ordering from here again! read more
