Anytime I move in the future I will only use Rabbit Movers!! I did a little research before moving and Rabbit had a lot of great reviews, and then there was a Yelp deal and I was sold! I was supposed to move on a Wednesday but my apartment was ready early and I called back and they switched my day to Sunday no problem at all. Then, the Thursday before I was supposed to move I called because I was concerned about the upcoming hurricane. They assured me that they've moved in blizzards and 110 degree heat and as long as it isn't unsafe they would move me. Even after that Mateo, who I spoke with over the phone, was able to move my date up to Friday (the day after I called) so I wouldn't have to deal with the hurricane! The 3 guys who moved me were super friendly and professional. My move was really easy and super smooth and by the time they packed me up, drove over to my new place and unpacked I still had 15 minutes within my 2 hour minimum, and they asked if there was anything else they could do for me since I was still paying them. So professional and thoughtful. I absolutely loved these guys and will recommend them to anyone I know that's moving. read more

Moving is stressful. It's especially stressful when you're being forced out because of sewer plumbing problems. We had very little time to find another place to live, pack our 67 boxes of books, and move. Needless to say on the day of the move we were pretty frazzled. Rabbit was WONDERFUL to work with. Their laid back, friendly, professional attitude helped to put us at ease. They were even understanding about us dealing with our terrified cat who didn't want to come out. We had to struggle to get the poor thing into his carrier. Rabbit did the move efficiently and quickly. We choose to put most of our things into storage while we live in sublet as we look into a more permanent home. They were extremely accommodating with us putting our things into another storage facility. They even called us after the move to see how we were doing post-move. She explained pricing and options. Everything was crystal clear. Promptly sent over a contract. Done deal in a matter of less then 5 minutes. I moved yesterday. Travis, Matteo and Kyle - showed up right on time and were ready to go. These guys came in, did a walk through and immediately started taking boxes down to the truck. They're friendly and personable. 100% fantastic. I arranged for Rabbit over the phone and we discussed my moving needs of East Village to Boerum Hill. They then emailed the contract, I signed it, and we were good to go. Everything was explained clearly over the phone and in the written contract (no hidden fees). They arrived about 15 minutes early, I signed some more paperwork and everything got going. The whole move for my studio took about 2 hours door-to-door. One item got knocked over by accident, but the movers acknowledged their mistake and stopped right away to ensure nothing was broken. After they finished, the price was exactly what they quoted. Everyone was polite, professional, and efficient. I would definitely use Rabbit again and recommend it to my friends. A few notes 1. Rates for me were .5 hour half drive time fee (which is lower than usual and most companies have some sort of drive fee) and $130 an hour for three guys and a truck. There is a two hour minimum (so if your move took 15 minutes, you'd be charged 2 hours), which is perfectly reasonable because even small moves take about that time. 2. As a person who's not easy to move (read: avid collector, aka something of a hoarder) and yet who has moved something like 10 times in the past 15 years, I consider myself something of a minor authority on moving companies. And I cannot say enough good things about Rabbit Movers. First of all, the concept of supporting artists and musicians in NYC is great. But even if you take that factor away, you get a professional, efficient and extremely hard-working crew (not to mention cheerful, and I mean that in a very good way. It's a day of high stress for the person moving, so the friendly, optimistic demeanor of the crew was hugely helpful.) I had a crew of four who undertook at 12 hour and 19 minute move, and (save for a short lunch break, which I practically begged for because I was starving) they worked at 100% the entire time. It was impressive, and it was very much appreciated. They made a tiring day tolerable (and even, at times, fun). Highly recommended. [Update] I'm updating this a little after the move, as I am a little less happy with Rabbit. Not that they're not great (all the above is still true), but the one area where they fail is carefulness. As I unpacked my boxes and bins in the weeks following my move, I found broken frames, lamps, plates and other items that seemed to have been packed or carted rather carelessly. I'd recommend you pack/move precious personal items yourself -- they are there to get the job done efficiently, but not always delicately. read more

This company made my life easier in a very stressful moment. First of all, you can easily get a quote online. The process is pretty transparent. I recommend that you list your inventory carefully and also thinks about how many boxes/bags/suitcases you will have to move. The movers were friendly and professional: nothing got broken or lost. The whole process took 3 hours, including the time to disassemble my bed. It really looked like they knew what they were doing. Finally, my inventory was not accurate but that was not a problem: we discussed the price of the extras and those were charged to my credit card the following day. They showed up on time and estimated it would take about five hours and they were totally right. Everything went smooth despite the rain and the price was what I thought it would be. I was originally going to to Flat Rate but their estimate was too high (more than $600 more than Rabbit would be). In short, they were fantastic. We were moving from Harlem to the Upper West Side, and opted to go flat rate. That, plus a yelp coupon, and we moved our studio into a 1 bedroom for a completely reasonable $500. The only thing we noticed was a small chip on our concrete table, but no means a dealbreaker, or furniture-destroying error. They were all nice, and it felt good supporting some real artists. LLLLLOOOVVEE THEM! I Moved out of my apartment on Saturday Jan 28th, from queens to Brooklyn. I can't say enough GREAT things about the guys that moved us. I literally turned around and the majority of my boxes were inside their truck! they waste absolutely no time to get you moved. The foreman was very professional and such a nice guy. He walked me through all of the paperwork they need you to sign and then in minutes the move was in full swing. They wrapped up all of my furniture super well. my mattress and small chairs were wrapped in many layers of saran wrap. Nothing broke during the move at all. I was amazed! I was quoted for 4 guys but only 3 showed up and it worked out better because the price changed to $130 for 3 guys + 16 foot truck VS $160 an hour. Also, the guys were 30 mins late (I live really far out from the train station) and again, it worked out because I wasnt charged for Transport time. :-) DON'T HESITATE to call these guys for your next move! Dominick and his team were friendly and professional. We were moving from an apartment to a storage facility. I pointed out several of my things that they needed to use the utmost care in handling. After trying to go the "cheap as possible" route by calling some random on Craigslist who flaked on me, I found myself needing a next-day move. Seeing all of the reviews on Rabbit Movers, I gave them a call and was happy I did. I was sure to give the most accurate description of everything I needed to have moved over the phone, and they quoted a flat rate that was competitive with other highly reviewed movers. After receiving the work order with line items on everything I described, and after reading some reviews about sudden price increases, I was worried that I might experience a last-minute price hike. Things like "inordinate parking distance fees", "loose item fees", etc scared me, but I really had no choice. I'm happy to say that everything turned out exactly as they said it would... Michael Taylor, the foreman, was extremely communicative throughout the afternoon in terms of when they expected to arrive. He and his helper worked efficiently and quickly, while taking care to be delicate with the fragile items and television. They took great care of my more valuable items and made the most stressful day of the year (moving day) into a relatively tolerable affair. Someone recommended another company before I went with Rabbit a few weeks ago. A representative from the other company showed up at my place and keyed some stuff into his tablet, and a day or two later there I am with an estimate of 900 clams. I thought, man, this is insane -- no way my move should cost this much. When I found Rabbit online and talked to Serge, he explained how my quote would be generated after I filled out their interactive form logging my possessions to determine how much I had. I was as objective as possible clicking everything I could think of and including boxes I hadn't even yet packed. In the end, Rabbit moved me for damn near $400 less. A three-man crew (including the driver) headed by Jason jumped into action shortly after their timely arrival. They determined the order of what needed to go down first, and boom, the entire move was over by probably 3pm. Mind you, my move included downsizing from a 2bdr to 1bdr, so after my new place, the rest had to go into a storage unit a half mile away. The crew was personable and worked with me on details and small requests that arose. After hearing nightmare stories with other movers -- the whole process is enough of a headache on its own -- and ordeals where the whole thing gets stretched into an all-day affair, I'd recommend Rabbit to anyone in NYC. read more

Very happy with their service and would highly recommend! After hearing great recommendations from a few friends who used Rabbit, and getting a very competitive quote compared to other top-rated movers, I decided to book with them. Everyone I spoke with on the phone was very helpful, and they worked with me to find the cheapest day for my move since I had a flexible move-out date too. Even when I had to bump the move date because I booked a gig last minute, they were flexible and switched it no problem. On moving day the guys were a great team, with foreman Mike T. walking me through the process (my first time hiring movers! I was nervous!), and generally being upbeat, friendly and reassuring. One of their helpers Jeremy B. was there a bit early and jumped right into it, assessing my stuff and started staging the boxes for the moving truck so they could dive right in when the rest of them got there. One of the best parts of hiring pros is the years of experience they have with moving, as their driver Jeff B. displayed with tons of tricks for keeping my family heirlooms safe and protected. Rounding out the team helping me was Cleff F., who always had a smile, even with all my spilling boxes of fabric, heavy books and steamer trunks packed to the hilt. One of the main reasons I went with Rabbit is that they hire artists, like me, which I like to support too. They treated all my musical instruments with care, were gentle with my fragile china and antiques, and even hummed my favourite sea shanties while hefting the most gigantic furniture. Long story short, I will be telling all my friends about you guys, and want to thank you for making a stressful day much more pleasant. Let me start off by saying that moving SUCKS. I just moved 4 months ago and when I had to plan to move again I darn near cried..... I lie... I cried! I scheduled Rabbit Movers a week in advance and they were able to give me the first slot on the day I requested (8/3). I am normally wary of an hourly rate move, but they gave me honest expectations of what it would cost me and stuck to it in the end. They arrived on time and got to work. Can I give these guys ten stars? Yes, they are that good. I had a complicated move and long story short Rabbit Movers was professional, courteous, careful, fast and efficient from the get go. Granted, I did pack all 65+ boxes myself but they took care of all the furniture, including a 200-year old antique Japanese samurai chest of drawers, a full-size electronic piano, and a super-freakin'-heavy vintage 75" long couch that doesn't come apart. Don't be scared off by the estimator who might be a bit morose. He's not the one moving your stuff. Rabbit Movers sent 3 guys (1 foreman and 2 movers) and the van was filled in under 2 hours. Not so much as a scratch, ding, missing screw or cracked plate. If you tell them exactly what to handle with care, they handle it like it was a newborn baby. As far as moves goes, this was by far the least painful and even (dare I say) pleasant. I don't drive and they didn't have room in their van, but one of the movers who drove gave me a ride down to my new apartment. Moving my stuff IN took several hours because there's only 1 tiny elevator (like standing room only for 3 people tiny) so I was pretty sure I'd be charged some serious overtime which I wouldn't have minded paying btw. After past experiences of movers holding my belongings hostage and unreasonably demanding hundreds of dollars more, I was prepared to pay through the nose and be blindsided by extra fees up the whazoo. I couldn't believe it, but they stuck to the binding estimate and only charged a little extra (and I mean $38 little) for 9 stairs which I forgot to include (my bad). I don't write many reviews, but I had a such an incredible experience with these guys, that I told them I would. So here I am, making good on that promise... Called on Wednesday for a Friday move--spoke with Serge over the phone--really helpful, friendly and professional. Got me the Certificate of Insurance that my co-op board required within an hour or two of calling. We had a couple more email exchanges and he put my mind at ease that I wouldn't run into any trouble/hidden charges. Mine wasn't a huge job, but everyone I dealt with still treated me like a really valuable customer. Emmanuel, the Forman on the job was lovely (and a classically trained pianist!). He called and asked permission to come in a bit early to size up what needed to be done/make sure he had the right tools to take my TV off of its mount and once his co-worker Robert showed up (equally nice!) they carefully wrapped up my stuff up in blankets and plastic wrap like it was encrusted with diamonds while we talked about life and music and goals. It was like having (really competent) friends help you move, but without having to buy them beer and pizza. They was fast, friendly and totally professional. I made a yelp account just so I could report this experience. Didn't even get to the move. Received a call from the company about extra charges after I mis-classified(?) an electric piano while insuring the move. Instead of helping me classify correctly, the general manager got rude, raised his voice and provided some of the worst customer service I have experienced. I asked to cancel the move. He said he'll be happy to do it, and he'd prefer to do it, but I won't get any money back. We are talking about the full cost of the move, which I already paid. He knew he had leverage and just continued being unpleasant. Be careful handing money over to the company. They will hold it as leverage against you. read more

Moving is miserable, but the folks at Rabbit actually made our move somewhat tolerable -- almost enjoyable. We moved at the end of February 2010 (part two of Snowpocalypse 2010). We had originally scheduled to do a pack on Friday and move on Saturday (to save on the cost of having the truck there the whole time while they packed). When the snowstorm hit on Friday, I offered to move our whole pack/move to Saturday. It was miserable outside, and I figured we'd just get packing ourselves. We ended up packing about 60% of our stuff ourselves, so when they showed up on Saturday it was mostly heavy lifting. Cody, Jay, Rio, and Terry moved our shit quickly and safely. We were out of our old place and into our new place (6th floor elevator building) in less than 6 hours. Stellar. When everything was done, the final bill ended up being a bit more than our estimate. I asked the Rabbit folks on Monday (after I paid the movers on Saturday) if we could reach some sort of compromise that reflected the fact that we voluntarily forfeited our Friday appointment so they could accommodate other moves during the storm. They were amenable, and we received a refund check within a few days. We're not planning on moving any time soon, but I hope these guys are around when we do. read more

They were running late but they called and gave us plenty of notice and as a bonus they sent 1 extra mover at no extra cost. I used Rabbit Movers to move within NYC. Things started out well. Nathan, the dispatcher, was excellent - attentive, responsive and came onsite to provide a more accurate quote. Unfortunately, on the day of the move, things went awry. I had 3 movers -- one supposedly more experienced than the other 2, but with back issues and limited mobility. The movers left a suitcase (with wheels) outside on the sidewalk of NYC and -- shocker -- the suitcase went missing. Aside from missing the items in my suitcase, the movers also damaged my walls (brand new construction building) and two of them had a very weird habit of flipping the boxes when placing them down (so the top of the box was on the floor and the bottom of the box was facing up) -- which caused a few of my plates to break (I purposely put them on top of the box so they wouldn't be squished down). The company called to apologize for the loss and directed me to a "claim" website to file a claim. The website does not work and I'm convinced it's purposefully troublesome to discourage people from filing the claim. Don't use this company unless you want your stuff to go missing and get damaged. Don't get sucked in by a friendly dispatcher. read more

I have to say that I'm speechless. The owner personally followed up with us shortly after the posting of my experience and went above and beyond my expectations to make amends with us. According to the owner, the person they sent to assess our move beforehand severely underestimated it and that they do have big guys for heavy-duty future moves, if we care. And I've been moved to care (not that this happens often) solely on the fact that this company really cares about customer service and that every customer is happy (from what I've read of other customer reviews), and that earns at least 4 stars in my book... and another chance. Used Rabbit to move from Crown Heights to Prospect Heights in late July. The team showed up to introduce themselves and quickly got to work. They were careful but also incredibly efficient, which is impressive considering it was 99 degrees outside. They took good care of the fragile stuff, wrapped the couch, mattress, boxspring, etc. Very thorough. And all four of the movers were incredibly kind.
