They provided a tall box to help with the transportation of two medium sized plants, everything was intact

I was very diligent in my search for a moving company, and honestly had the best experience with J&G Moving Company. Out of 10+ companies that I was recommended from my workplace and contacted, J&G had the best quote pricing while also having good online reviews. From initial setup to move-out to move-in, I was impressed with their professionalism and efficiency. When I first contacted J&G on Yelp, they were prompt in their responses through Yelp/email and had open communication/transparency by letting me know when to expect the COI or other details about the move. Later a day or two before the move, they made sure to confirm with me over the phone and also closely communicated with me for ETAs. During the move, they were prompt with their arrival and even came a few minutes earlier to scope out the parking situation. I appreciate that upon entering each of the movers were friendly, introducing themselves to us, and then immediately got to work. We had some unexpected issues with the move-out location's service elevator, and the J&G movers maintained good spirits, working flexibly to use the time to survey what supplies they needed to bring up to help with the move and also secured our large furniture pieces to save time. They brought ample moving cloths and I felt well-assured that several furniture items (adjustable standing desk, media console, large TV screen, and large desk monitor) were safe. They also helped us securely pack some small plants in a box with filler paper. When we realized that we had left dishware in the dishwasher, they were quick to give us one of the extra boxes they had brought. Each time they packed, if boxes weren't already sealed, I appreciated that they were considerate and would check in with us if it was okay that they closed the open box (only a few that we had left open for last minute items). We didn't ask them to, but I even saw that at our move-in location, they delicately dressed the bed with the bed skirt as it was originally at our move-out location, a testament to their attention to detail. All in all, I couldn't recommend J&G Moving Company enough. Though they are based in Astoria, we had such a smooth move from Jersey City to upper Manhattan. I am happy to know that the next time I move, I can save time researching different companies, and go with J&G Moving company because I had such a great experience and trust their service.

Jovan S. continuing to harass me after I asked him to stop contacting me.

Update: I'm posting screenshots of the threats Jovan has sent me (keep in mind, all I did was post a short 1-star review, this is a truly puzzling response), including where he continued to harass me after I asked him to stop. Also included is a screenshot of the confirmation of availability and estimate I was sent. Review: J&G Provided an estimate and availability. I made plans for my move based on this communication, then they later changed their mind and said they are booked.

After talking to them, I knew I wanted to go with them. Their customer service, attention to details, and organization are 5-star levels. One thing that really stood out to me was that instead of asking me how many boxes I need, they asked me to send them pics of my place and stuff, and they calculated the number of small, medium and large boxes I need. It's so easy to underestimate and get a different price at the end. Also, I know I wanted packers because its speeds up the entire process of moving and settling in. I'm so glad I did with Roadway. It usually takes me over half a week to pack and be stressed for over a week, but Diego and his 3 teammates packed up our studio in 2-3 hours. They're so professional. They moved so quickly with care and accuracy. Most importantly, all my kitchen appliances were wrapped with care and delivered and arrived to my new apartment in the same condition. It took us about 2 hrs to settle in, and they once again unpacked most of the furnitures and reassembled them, making me feel settled in and relaxed. I cannot thank their team enough. They're all so polite, friendly and efficient. Within 1 day, I already feel 95% settled in. It's the easiest, stress-free moving experience I had in a while!

Before they even arrived, I got a tracking link to follow their location just like Uber, which immediately made me feel at ease. Crisanto and his crew showed up right on time and were incredible. They worked quickly but carefully, wrapping all of my furniture and somehow managing three giant mirrors without a single issue. Not one complaint and not one moment of stress. What really stood out was how above and beyond they went. They helped me figure out which part of my couch would actually fit in my space, laid out my rugs, and organized everything so I could still move around my studio comfortably. Also shoutout to one of the crew members who was on his first day. You truly could not tell. The whole team was professional, efficient, and just genuinely great to work with. This was hands down the easiest move I've ever had. If you are debating which moving company to use, this is your sign. Go with them.

Leading up to the move Karina was in close contact with us every step of the way making sure we had all of the information and help needed to ensure things would run smoothly. Day of, Romy and his team were personable, professional, fast (yet careful) and incredibly accommodating - I'm hopeful we won't be moving again soon, but if we were I would absolutely be requesting Romy and his team again. One bit of context - We had heard that Vector was one of the least expensive options available - for us, their quote did come back in the upper middle of the 6 or 7 companies we looked at, but also did not change, and there was no pressure placed on us to pay extra for the handful of things we failed to account for in the initial quote.

We have moved multiple times in east cost always use the same mover from NY. This time thought of trying a NJ based mover. Here are the issues 1.Lack of professional behavior. They came inside saw that entryway table had a few bills picked them up asked me which currency it is. 2. One of the kitchen packers opens lid of my spice box (I had leaves and chillies puts his nose in sniffs and asks what is it? 3. Packed every little thing in white wrapper so unpacking was hell. Single stainless steel spoon wrapped in 4 layers of packing . 4. Who does this .packing open can of bleach with groceries. While unpacking I saw white dust thought its paint once I hit end of box it was bleach so ended up throwing everything from that box. Which professional mover does that 5. Random packing. I had very organized closet but they picked random items and packed in diff boxes so i had box with sweaters pillow covers photo frames and belts all from diff parts of closet. LASTLY we were given pricing we paid that by bill and paid $800 extra over that without receipt as they demanded that they packed box. When vector gave me a quote it included 10 medium boxes $20 per box but the guys packed everything with white wrapper in kitten not one but 4 sheets and increased boxes packed to 30 , unethically charging us for small boxes stuffed with white paper. Please note it was a very painful experience and no one deserves this kind of billing or nonsense

However, the service and experience provided was the total opposite. It was unacceptable and negligent. The movers carelessly handled our belongings. From the moment they stepped in the door, one of the movers made a snide remark. We always expect courteous and respectful conduct. And that was not the case. They broke the blinds, damaged/chipped the wood on our furniture, lost our sofa pillows, they stuffed our belongings carelessly in a bag, our clothes were on the floor and they did not care to pick them up until I brought it to their attention. They discarded the tape rolls around the apartment as if it was a waste disposal basket. They put our sofas back as a toddler would put a toy back together. And honestly a toddler would had done a better job. The movers were negligent and extremely unprofessional. They took cigarette breaks lengthening the moving process and transferring the smell inside the space and around our belongings. One of the crew members was extremely rude and arrogant. He took our tree and banged it against the door when moving it out. Slammed the roll of black bags on the floor. He could have care less for the job he was performing. Because we paid for professional, white-glove service, we expect items to be handled with extreme care. The carelessness of the staff has resulted in leaving us with a very sour experience and it was totally the opposite of what was denoted to us in our initial conversation and in the reviews. I will never recommend their services to anyone, not even to my worse enemy. To anyone thinking of hiring this company do not go by the reviews as we did. Do your research! Be warned!

They made a potentially complicated and messy move--with two pick-up locations prior to the final destination--seamless. It constantly amazes me how these strong guys can lift and navigate massive furniture--yet the same guys also delicately pack china and glassware. I had more than 150 boxes and there was not one broken item. Not one lost item. I trust them 100%. As far as the back story, since it had been several years since I moved, I decided to get more than one estimate. I knew I would have Big John's come over to provide an estimate, but some review-searching led me to some new players in moving. One of them had almost all 5-star reviews, which in retrospect is hard for anyone to pull off. Big John's came in and gave me an estimate and told me it would be a 2-day move. I then had the second moving company (the one with almost all 5-star reviews) come over. Their estimate was nearly half the cost of Big John's and they said they would do it in 1 day and with only 3 workers. I have had at least 4 or 5 people move me for years. Oftentimes it is 6 or 7 people. I mentioned this to the moving company representative more than once. I even said "I don't mind paying extra for another person." That is the truth. I would rather pay more and have an efficient and good move as opposed to a situation where the movers get exhausted halfway through the day. He told me their philosophy is that "any more than 3 people bump into each other." I have never witnessed movers bumping into each other before and I was skeptical. (It is clear to me now that their revenue model depends on having as few people as possible perform the moving job.) But I was blinded by the low estimate so I verbally agreed to hire them. When I told Big John's I was not using them, they called me back right away and were very professional but wanted to know why. I told them what I had been told by the second mover and Big john's said "you have really nice stuff, you know how careful we are." True. He also told me about some potential problems they could encounter on the road insofar as trucking laws. I also thought to myself that I did not want to be in a situation where three guys from the new moving company were coming to my place at 8am and unloading the truck at my new place at 11pm. That was a very real possibility. That was enough. I came to my senses and I hired Big John's. I later realized that the second mover was a very good salesperson--he had lots of emotional intelligence and came across as warm and caring and said all the right things--but there were far too many things that could go wrong. I reviewed the various email and texts and paper estimate and saw there were a lot of gray areas and contradictions in what I was being promised. After I cancelled with the second mover (almost three weeks before the actual move date) he started to show his true colors: he began calling, texting and emailing me repeatedly over several days. Managing his drama significantly added to my pre-move stress. I wish he had just bowed out gracefully. Instead, he was telling me about all the extra people he would bring in to move me (so much for his "3 people" philosophy) and how he would do the move "in 2 days, too," If I wanted. He would not let go of it. He kept behaving as if I had not cancelled. Even after I emailed him to re-state that I was cancelling, he kept going. He seemed perplexed that I would want to pay more for another mover. He never grasped the concept that I would be paying more for more...more services and for a company I have used a half a dozen time in the past. Not to mention a company that treats its workers well and does not expect them to work 12-14 hour days. On the day of the move, I was happy to see two guys I had used in the past, including the foreman. I really like the way Big John's has clear delineations of roles: there is a chief/foreman (who knows how to manage people), there are the guys who move the boxes, the guys who are great packers, the guys who wrap furniture, the guys who handle the tricky stuff (like my grandfather clock), the guy who tracks all / keeps inventory, and the guy who arranges and rearranges the truck as needed. This is why they don't "bump into each other." I see no reason for me to ever not use Big John's again. I mentioned this in my older review, but it is a rare thing when I enjoy paying a bill. But moving is so important and Big John's is so good, they make it worth it!
