This was my first time hiring movers and J & G Moving exceeded my expectations! The move went so smoothly that I highly recommend them. I price-compared a ton of NYC moving companies and J & G gave me a competitive moving quote. Additionally, the building I was moving into required a certificate of insurance (COI) and J & G was able to offer it for me for free. A lot of other companies charge for this. Before moving, I communicated with them via email and they always responded promptly and were very clear about what their moving package included. The day of the move, they called and asked if it was okay if they came an hour early. They were very communicative with me during the whole move. The lead guy (forgot his name!) assessed how many things I had and then discussed with the other 2 men on how to efficiently approach the move. The 3 men were over 6' tall and strong, and they were able to finish my whole move in a little more than 1 hr! I did not have anything that was easily breakable but the men treated my things with care. They provided blanket and shrink wrapping for all of my furniture. Everything was loaded up into their truck very quickly. These guys wasted no time. When I arrived at my new apartment building, they had already started unloading my things. I had my boxes labeled with what was inside (i.e., kitchen supplies, shoes, jackets) and they actually placed each box in the corresponding room. Best of all, there were no hidden fees. They ended up not charging me a processing fee that was included in the quote and gave me $40 off my quoted price. The movers were so friendly, communicative and professional, I will definitely be using J & G Moving again! I also wanted to note that on the day of my move, the street I was moving from was blocked due to construction. J & G movers did not complain or make any mention of that until I had stepped outside of my apartment building and noticed it. If you are looking for the best movers these are your guys. They came earlier then on time for my move. They are without a doubt moving ninjas. If I was in your position I wouldn't waste any more time looking further as this is the best it gets. They helped me so much and the two guys they sent were so nice. I can not say enough good things about them. They came with a multitude of supplies to ensure all my things were taken care of and the speed at which they moved was unmatched. I have a really large television and they managed to get it off the wall with ease. Lastly they have the best insurance and they sent me the COI that my building requested (luxury building)..I will be recommending them to all of my friends and family. In all honesty this was the best moving experience I ever had. I wouldn't have used any other company. I was very diligent in my search for a moving company, and honestly had the best experience with J&G Moving Company. Out of 10+ companies that I was recommended from my workplace and contacted, J&G had the best quote pricing while also having good online reviews. From initial setup to move-out to move-in, I was impressed with their professionalism and efficiency. When I first contacted J&G on Yelp, they were prompt in their responses through Yelp/email and had open communication/transparency by letting me know when to expect the COI or other details about the move. Later a day or two before the move, they made sure to confirm with me over the phone and also closely communicated with me for ETAs. During the move, they were prompt with their arrival and even came a few minutes earlier to scope out the parking situation. I appreciate that upon entering each of the movers were friendly, introducing themselves to us, and then immediately got to work. We had some unexpected issues with the move-out location's service elevator, and the J&G movers maintained good spirits, working flexibly to use the time to survey what supplies they needed to bring up to help with the move and also secured our large furniture pieces to save time. They brought ample moving cloths and I felt well-assured that several furniture items (adjustable standing desk, media console, large TV screen, and large desk monitor) were safe. They also helped us securely pack some small plants in a box with filler paper. When we realized that we had left dishware in the dishwasher, they were quick to give us one of the extra boxes they had brought. Each time they packed, if boxes weren't already sealed, I appreciated that they were considerate and would check in with us if it was okay that they closed the open box (only a few that we had left open for last minute items). We didn't ask them to, but I even saw that at our move-in location, they delicately dressed the bed with the bed skirt as it was originally at our move-out location, a testament to their attention to detail. All in all, I couldn't recommend J&G Moving Company enough. Though they are based in Astoria, we had such a smooth move from Jersey City to upper Manhattan. I am happy to know that the next time I move, I can save time researching different companies, and go with J&G Moving company because I had such a great experience and trust their service. read more

Boris and his crew moved me on 10/18/20. They showed up 5 minutes early -- the perfect amount of early. Each one of them was exceptional. They were all very friendly and polite. I chose J&G after communicating with and receiving quotes from at least 15 other NYC-area movers. J&G was the most responsive and provided the most reasonable rates. They were no BS, and very professional, which I appreciated a lot. I was charged according to the quote I was initially provided. I had to move out in the middle of COVID (April 1) and I had to coordinate everything while I was quarantined in VA. My friends met them at my old apartment and they got there 10 mins before their scheduled 8am time (amazing!!) and moved everything into my new place in 1.5 hours (they were honest about how long it took them--they didn't say it took longer). NOTHING was broken in any of my boxes when I got back to my new apartment 2 months later (the person who packed up my stuff didn't secure breakable items). I cannot recommend them enough. Also, they are reasonably priced. Would've cost me WAY more if I went with another company that quoted me. Moving sucks. This was my first time moving which involved movers. I did my research via yelp and had countless companies contact me w their quotes. I had one bedroom to move from a house to a studio two blocks of travel distance and the prices that were quoted to me were ridiculous, maybe they weren't? But they were to me. I saw this company had great reviews and it said on here they are based in Astoria. I reached out to them, got a reply. Jovan sent me a quote via yelp (reasonable compared to the crazy ones I was quoted by other companies) also texted me when I had additional questions. I told Jovan some dates which I can move on and he told if I moved on a Tuesday he would help me with the pricing and he did! I was expecting the movers to get to my place at 9 am but they even came earlier! I had two movers Drago and Ivan. Both were amazing! Kept my anxiety levels down lol and did everything efficiently. Everything was done in on time. They were great! The only con I can think of is having to pay travel fee of $120. I forget what exactly I paid atm. Regardless of your distance from their company. 5 miles away from them or 100 miles it will still be the same price of $120. I still got a great deal from this company compared to the other companies that quoted me an arm and a leg for a "small" job. read more

I had an excellent experience with J&G and would definitely recommend their services. I moved within Manhattan and needed movers during the busiest moving season. One of the best moving companies I've worked with. John was honest and fair with pricing, he didn't try to push me one direction or the other, and he made scheduling the move easy for me. Nick and his crew got here on time and they literally worked non-stop for 5 hours. No breaks, no games, hard and efficient work. They had to use two boxes to pack stuff to make it easier to move, as well as about a dozen rolls of packing tape to reinforce my boxes and didn't charge me a penny over the agreed upon rates. They disassembled and reassembled furniture, wrapped and packed electronics, and respectfully asked where every box went in the house when they unpacked it. This company and their employees are awesome and amazing for moving. I wanted to write this review..that's how good these guys are and they deserve it. We moved from a 2 bedroom apartment in LIC to a house in NJ (2 flights of stairs up from the ground). On moving day we had a lot of stuff which they ended up wrapping up nicely and collecting for us. They were very attentive and asked us what we wanted done, were great at communicating and very very friendly the entire time. They just had really great attitudes and were very patient even if we had to change our minds at the last minute. Just to give you some reference, our move happened on a hot 96 degree summer day at the end of August. The guys never complained once or took even took a break. It took about 9 hours in total and they were as courteous and kind at the end as they were in the beginning, just very nice and easy to work with which is huge during a move as you don't want any added stresses. Additionally, they were happy to troubleshoot things and never complained. As an example, I had a large IKEA pax frame that we wanted moved but they were not able to fit it and turn it successfully in our apartment hallway, so they just took it apart so that it could be moved at no extra charge. Also, when our crib couldn't fit in the doorway of our son's room, they just casually removed the entire door and put it back once they were done. There was never any hesitancy and they actually seemed cheerful when it came to dealing with these issues! The entire time they were professional, respectful and easygoing and took care of our stuff. Nothing was broken and everything was moved with care. They really worked hard to eliminate the stress of moving for us and made it very easy. Also, their boss was able to procure a COI for our building very promptly, answered all our questions quickly as well and was great at communication. They give you a no BS price which includes everything so you don't have to worry about getting nickeled and dimed for things like tolls/wardrobe boxes/COI etc. Bottom line, I cannot recommend them enough and will be recommending to friends and family, they were amazing! read more

Moving from Sunnyside to Astoria on a tight timeline could be a chore but the staff were amazing from our first call (John) to the movers themselves (Boris, George, & Branko). They were able to fit my couch through the door without having to take it apart. I also had a queen size Ikea lifting bed frame that was taken apart very quickly and carefully, and put back together perfectly at the new apartment. Over two decades, we have relocated ten times, so we have used 20 moving companies. For the most recent move, in November 2022, we hired J&G Moving, based on the Yelp reviews. Previously, there was not one moving company we would use again. J&G Moving is the first, and only company that we would call upon again for a move. We opted to hire J&G at their (very reasonable) hourly rate as we thought it would be too challenging to price out a fixed rate because the move required collecting household effects in three different locations, and on two different dates. The initial contract process was seamless and there were NO surprise surcharges at the end. J&G's team works extremely efficiently, and they actually listened when we pointed out which items were extremely fragile. Other movers tend to swarm like locusts, ignoring whatever guidance is offered. We cannot imagine a better company to call for moving. read more
