A bit of background: My bill unexpectedly increased by $32 (over 25%) from February to March 2025, with no prior notice. Concerned, I visited their office to inquire. I was met by two associates, both claiming to be managers, yet neither could provide a clear reason for the price hike--only repeating "company policy" as their response. When I asked about options to lower my cost or switch units, I was shockingly accused by Diane (one of the "managers") of attempting "promotional abuse" and was even threatened with being reported. This location is anything but consumer friendly. They show no interest in helping customers and would rather lose business than provide transparent answers. This will surely be my last month with this location... When did trying to save money become a crime?

I went home picked up the six boxes And drove to the storage unit, Mind you the storage unit, my house and Home Depot are about seven blocks from each other. I get to the storage unit. It's about 830 AM, The sign on the door says open come on in. I try to open the door but it's locked. about five minutes still nobody I called the call center at (929) 547-9621, " they do not have a physical person that works at this location and that the key is inside the storage unit" I thought OK well I guess that's possible. But when I went to the storage unit and I attempted to open it, it didn't open it was locked. So I called the 929 number listed above again Spoke to a different person, The second person I spoke to Stated " They're probably walking or helping somebody into their new unit, And asked if I could give 5-10 Minutes" I gave 11 Person still not there. So I called the 929 number a 3rd time This time I expressed my frustration again and the lady on the phone Stated " There is one person for multiple facilities nearby. There was an emergency at another facility." It sounded like she was gonna ask me to just wait and be patient, but I cut her off and stated " That's not my problem, I want my money back. I have to return the van by 10 AM it's 926 " She said that she will put a request in for the cancellation While driving back home to drop off everything that was supposed to go into the storage unit A gentleman from this location called me and gave me a different excuse, He stated "Hi John, you requested a cancellation" I said yes he then stated "why" and I expressed my frustration again. Then he stated "Well, you need to understand sir. There is more than 100 units and I have to check every single one of them so you need to understand that" giving me an attitude. I said "then there should be two people working in that office not one, and that is not my problem that you have to go check everything". He then stated " Well what do you want me to do?" "To process my cancellation & my return like the Request says" I said. "Fine" he's said. I said "Thank you. You have a good day" right before I was able to hang up he said. "Fuck You" That's when I called the 929 number again unfortunately they don't have supervisors but they said that I should be receiving a call from upper management still waiting. This person that was on the phone was helpful, but she kept saying things like but sir, you need to understand no no that's not my problem. That's your problem going back-and-forth. I was able to make payments online with no problem . Their online system hasn't worked in over 6-7 months . I once had to call them directly and give my credit card info to someone over the phone . They have an automated service that repeats wrong credit card info and I have to try over and over to make a payment . The automated service has a lag. RIDICULOUS! The owner increased the storage price , no problem , BUT GET THE ONLINE PAYMENT BACK AND RUNNING! I never missed a payment , but this is so inconvenient. ***** MY #1 ISSUE RIGHT NOW IS THE TERRIBLY STRONG SPICE SMELL ALL OVER THE LOBBY . I called 3x to have them give the owner my complaint . Spray the lobby or do something .THE SMELL IS UNBEARABLE ! I recently went to take out jackets and other clothing items . They STINK like the spice smell in the lobby . Everything I take out my unit REAKS of the smell . I haven't taken out my stuff because I have over 4 years of stuff in it . I have 2 jobs and no time to go and clear it. They text you to remind you of payments! Never charged me a late fee. Have AUTO PAYMENTS WHICH IS GREAT. When you rent the storage you get the truck and driver for FREE. The driver was great and even helped us! Which helped because we are two short girls and one guy. Kenny at the storage place is amazing! Just cleared out my storage place and was even helped with the move! -PROTECTED MY STUFF -WRAPPED MY FURNITURE -EXTREMELY NICE, FUNNY, NO COMPLAINING -Moved to Bushwick for a great price and no hassle Ray at the front desk was SO nice and accommodating.     This was my first time hiring movers and J & G Moving exceeded my expectations! The move went so…read moresmoothly that I highly recommend them. I price-compared a ton of NYC moving companies and J & G gave me a competitive moving quote. Additionally, the building I was moving into required a certificate of insurance (COI) and J & G was able to offer it for me for free. A lot of other companies charge for this. Before moving, I communicated with them via email and they always responded promptly and were very clear about what their moving package included. The day of the move, they called and asked if it was okay if they came an hour early. They were very communicative with me during the whole move. The lead guy (forgot his name!) assessed how many things I had and then discussed with the other 2 men on how to efficiently approach the move. The 3 men were over 6' tall and strong, and they were able to finish my whole move in a little more than 1 hr! I did not have anything that was easily breakable but the men treated my things with care. They provided blanket and shrink wrapping for all of my furniture. Everything was loaded up into their truck very quickly. These guys wasted no time. When I arrived at my new apartment building, they had already started unloading my things. I had my boxes labeled with what was inside (i.e., kitchen supplies, shoes, jackets) and they actually placed each box in the corresponding room. Best of all, there were no hidden fees. They ended up not charging me a processing fee that was included in the quote and gave me $40 off my quoted price. The movers were so friendly, communicative and professional, I will definitely be using J & G Moving again! I also wanted to note that on the day of my move, the street I was moving from was blocked due to construction. J & G movers did not complain or make any mention of that until I had stepped outside of my apartment building and noticed it. These guys provide excellent customer service and I was very impressed by them.

    This CubeSmart store made my first time renting a storage unit a cinch. I was originally looking to…read morerent a 5'x5', but after seeing the different sizes in real life, went with the slightly larger 5'x7.5'. (By the way, the "storage lockers" are only accessible by ladder, which was something I did not want to risk with my bad back, as tempting as the price was.) Every time I visited over the past 3.5 months, the facility was clean (do they use "new carpet" air freshener?), the carts plentiful, the staff nice. The setup made loading and unloading large amounts of things really easy. (Well, outside of the slightly-sloping parking area, but minor quibble.) The Home Depot next door is a little too convenient, as evidenced by my having spent more at that location than anywhere else in the US. Even ran into some great folks in the elevators along the way. I was sad to close my account today. As I told the rep, CubeSmart has been my home away from home for the past few months. If I can't find an apartment right away in Chicago, I am hoping that my CubeSmart experience there will be just as lovely as this one here has been for me. Thanks, guys!

    Do not rent here without getting every policy in writing first…read more Here's what happened: I called this CubeSmart before our final month and asked a very specific question. If we moved out in the middle of the month, would we get a prorated refund for the days we didn't use? The employee said yes. Based on that answer, we paid for another full month (around $600) instead of just moving out at the end of the month, which was our original plan. We moved out mid-month. Then, surprise, "no refunds." I asked them to check the call logs. That's when it got worse. The manager got on the phone and I could hear him yelling in the background, apparently at his employees. He kept telling me he "didn't know" what was discussed on the original call because he had been on vacation, while he was looking at the logs in front of him. No ownership. No concern that his own staff had given out false information. No effort to fix it. I'm out money for days I never used, purely because I believed what their employee told me on the phone. Bottom line for future customers: the people at the counter and on the phone may tell you one thing, and management will later deny it and keep your money. Get every quote, every policy, every promise in writing before you hand them a dollar. You've been warned.

Their space for loading is huge which amaze me and made me feel better about the whole experience! Now, there is a lot that can be improved but is mostly their store managers and assistants manager, first of all I didn't feel like they wanted to help me out with finding my unit, they just gave me directions to it, which compared to my last location was definitely different! Second, my code wasn't working (I tried 3 times and went into the office for 3 times to tell them) and instead of them helping me out they would just send me right back out, it took nearly 5-8 minutes for them to really fix my problem and to take me serious! Last, I would have really appreciated them telling me where my unit was cause once I went down I had to search on a loop all the units until I found mine, and know this, the floor is gigantic so I did loop around a lot! I believe that store managers and assistants manager should welcome you during your first experience, once that is done they can definitely chill a little more! I just hope it does improve because my parents come often and I would like them to find a friendly face when they come by themselves!
