me and my family moved from Florida to New York the trip was very long.we made it to the storage room with only 25 minutes left till they closed...but the employees were so nice they one of them stayed till we finished unloading the truck.mind you they close at 6pm and we finished at 9pm..I highly recommend this place it's clean safe for your items and the staff are very friendly and helpful. read more

This place is the worse. I'm sure is the policy but the corporation needs to make changes. As customers life happens and your late they have these crazy fees which you pay cause you don't want to loose your stuff. But they also cut the lock off. Supposedly it's in the contact. Now this has never happened to me in other places I had my stuff in. But u cut my lock to get it ready for auction and the auction doesn't happen until weeks later. Now I'm supposed to be okay with one of your staff cutting my lock and they can go through my stuff cause I have no guarantees am not there so how do I know if they are stealing my stuff. When units are put in auction they should be open when they actually on auction in front of the auctioneers. But if I pay for my unit even hours before the auction the facility should have no right to cut my lock. read more

I selected public storage as my storage facility in June 2018, for a rate of $65 per month. I just received notice that beginning Dec 2018 my rate will be $82 per month, a $17 hike, 26%. This is very high rate increase and the facility has limited access hours (only 9:30-5:00pm on weekends, 9:30-6pm on weekdays). Beware, from reading other reviews I found that this is common for them, rate hikes every 6 months over 25%. read more

I won't make an outright accusation, but look at the reviews on yelp and google. They are all absolutely glowing reviews, and they all speak about how friendly and loving the customer service is, speaks highly about specific people at Public Storage. Now if you look at reviews in general, you would know that those type of reviews are highly unlikely. Another interesting thing is most reviewers have brand new accounts. I am renting a unit for the second time. I am very happy with The Brush Avenue facility. The employees are Very Nice and Helpful. The facility is Safe and Clean. The hours are great. Every time I have called I had no problem. Inside is Clean, Fresh and Well Lit. I would definitely recommend it. Move out policy is insane. I moved out on the 1st of the month, but still had to pay for the entire month. Everything about this place is a scam -- first you have to carry insurance, then you have to buy one of their locks, then if you don't move out on the last day of the month, you're on the hook for a full month's rent. Lost my keys and the staff threw them away to the dumpster by mistake. Mikiella (one of the staff girls) dived into the dumpster and open all the nasty trash bags until she found them. At first I thought I got a good deal on my monthly rental for a storage unit at Public Storage, ahahaha the jokes on me. This organization is a THEIF!!!! they give you the first month free to get you sign up and open a storage unit with them, however their deceitful plans is to raise the monthly rent and send you a written 30 days increase notice so u wont have time to move your stuff out and not pay this high monthly increase cost. After being a customer for 6 month you will be paying for that so called " free 1st month" or that "$1 for the first month" BULL SHIT!@!!!!!. I will be moving my thing out of their storage unit and put it else where. DO NOT BE FOOLED!!! they charge you a low monthly fee with the first month free, only to jack up the monthly price and late fee ASTRONOMICALY!!! . not to mention the "must have Insurance fee" I will NEVER recommend anyone of my associates, friends or family member to this storage company as well as I will let all my Facebook peeps know where not to store their thing. As a dedicated long term customer to this company i'm being robbed, their rental increase should be for the new customer letting them know upfront what the REAL cost of their unit will be!!!!! Worst storage facility I've ever had. Hours are terrible and they still show up late to work so you often have to wait 15-30 minutes after they are scheduled to open to get into the building. The carts are all broken or missing. Now someone has tampered with our lock and we can't get into our unit. First they told us to buy our own bolt cutters to get in. When we told them how ridiculous that is considering that they made us buy their lock and then someone tampered with it, they told us they needed to call the manager and he would call us. That was 5 days ago. read more

i have a unit up on the 3rd floor and let me say that the floor has so much sand type of substance all over .. they say the facility has climate control... no it doesn't... you go to the office and the talk and look at you like your bothering them and wasting their time luckily there are more storage places opening in the area. read more

I would like to say that this is our second time renting from public storage and what a pleasure it is to work with the people who work there. Maybe i go in once a month to pay the bill, otherwise my husband goes, and they even know who i am. Mostly girls working customer service and they are the sweetest bunch of girls. And i am not a new renter, this time renting, it has been four years. I know what I'm t a talking about. Thank you for all help you always give. Let me make this clear, this review is SOLELY FOR THE PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE!! NOT THE FACILITY OR CORPORATION. In particular, Jeffrey, Genisha and the DM, Mohammed. I was a customer at this Public Storage for 2 long years. Their customer service reps were ALWAYS courteous and very helpful no matter what my situation was. Especially Genisha when I was finally able to move out, she was AWESOME. Public Storage Corporate though, is COMPLETE RIP OFF. Horrible hours, they raised the rent like 3 times in two years, the last time, without notice. Late fees were also exorbitant and unreasonable, especially since their hours only accommodate people who DON'T WORK (9-5, what's the point??) LOVE the people though, if not for them, I don't know how I would have endured 2 LONG, EXPENSIVE years there. They were always willing to work with me and let me know if "auction time" was coming. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MANHATTAN MINI STORAGE (Varick Street) They have a highly civilized 24 hour access plan, vending machines in case you need them, and also have wonderful people. read more
