I stored a lot of things here and eveyrone was super nice. I had moved my stuff out of this unit over a year ago, but hte lady Jeanette was super nice everytime I would come in. I never hada ny problems with her. I noticed a lot of rat crap in my storage though, which I know is not her fault. WAs pretty upset over that. I'm considering a new storage unit, which made me rethink this and just yeah. Hopefully this doesnt happen again if I return? read more

In spite that they came highly recommended, we sourced many other facilities. It was too easy as the location is full of competitors. In the end we chose them. It was the warm and comfortable feeling of a family-like atmosphere they gave us. After two years and two floods we finally moved out, but not because of anything other than we did not need the extra storage any longer. The Access Self Storage team was amazing, super helpful and always communicative througout our stay. We never had a doubt our items were in a safe and clean location. If ever we would need to store our items in a facility in the future we would most definitely chose them again. Suggestion: Regardless of where you decide to go, use plastic storage containers on the floor especially if your unit is on the lower level. read more

I couldn't be more thankful to Access Self Storage for helping me with my storage needs during the time I was displaced from an apartment. (Which I am now reading happens to New Yorkers more often than I thought.) I was really bummed out about the whole situation but the pleasant and cheerful demeanor of the staff reassured me that things would be okay. I'd always imagined storage spaces to be dark, dirty, and dusty places but Access Self Storage has shown me the opposite to be true. It's probably cleaner than the new apartment I live in now. They also mentioned that they have an exterminator drop by monthly to prevent any issues with pests. I got a pretty good deal on a storage space that would hold one room's worth of stuff (and maybe a little extra). The promotion was 50 cents and month for the first two months and then the standard rate going forward. The rental process was very easy and straight forward. Getting set up with my space with the help of Artie Jeffries was also a delight. I'm not sure how many renters there are but this business adds a really personal touch when they recognize and remember you with each visit. I'm hoping to not store under the same circumstances, but I'd love to go to Access Self Storage again for keeping my things in a safe place. read more

I chose this place because of all the great reviews on yelp. I had a great experience too. Ross explained everything when I was signing the contract. Artie or Archie, don't remember well ( I'm bad with names, lol ), was very friendly and explained everything very well too. You have to take the 7 train to Hunter's Point and then the Q67 to Review Ave. The place is pretty big and there are clean bathrooms. They provide everything you need if you don't have it. There was a special going on for about $50 for two months. Great prices, clean facilities, great customer service. Oh, and I was told that there's a little boy's ghost by the name of Teddy that runs around there, lol. The building is pretty old but well kept. read more

These guys were AMAZING! We had the best unit right next to the LOADING DOCK! for a great rate. They also were incredibly helpful when we finally had to move (we kept hanging on to the unit or our business, but had moved to a location in the Bronx, so the commute just got to be too much with a moving truck!). Even in our move out though - they extended such grace and even stayed late so we could try to wrap up on time. Their front office staff is always very friendly, personable and helpful! I'd been dreading the thought of moving out of my apartment pretty much since the day i moved into it. Thank God for the crew at Access Self Storage; they made my move so much less painful than I expected it to be. Booked my storage space a week in advance. Access provides a free truck and driver for for up to two hours. Printed out the coupon on their website and got a month of storage free. First they tried to set me up with a space in the basement, but then i found out from an employee that, on a couple occasions, sections of the basement have flooded. After that, there was no way i was leaving my stuff down there. Ended up on the fourth floor. Pros: -Friendly staff. -Lots of fairly-priced moving accessories for purchase in the office. -The driver and a nice big truck showed up right on time -Great variety of units/prices -Reasonably priced, esp with website's coupons -Plenty of hand carts, ladders and all that stuff to make moving into/out of the unit go quickly. Cons: Kind of a sketchy hike to the nearest subway. I wouldn't do it in the dark. Possible basement flooding.... steer clear of the bottom storage level Bottom line: So far, so good. Friendly and helpful staff, fair prices and good service. I'm pleased. read more

Having just moved my stuff out, I continue to be very satisfied with my decision to store with them. They offered me a great deal on the first three months, and even at normal price (which was laid out perfectly clearly in advance) they were a good deal. Easy to access, with a big loading dock, clean facilities--even clean bathrooms, helpful employees. It really feels like a family business. The family business part is key to me, actually. For example, when I had to have a shipment sent to them and it fell outside of our pre-discussed parameters, they were nevertheless very helpful and accommodating. They never pulled any kind of bureaucratic nonsense on me... they were just honest and helpful. And they refunded me my unused days of the month when I moved out, without being asked, whereas I think a lot of places would have made up some bogus "policy" just to keep my money. And they never raised their fees on me. I've recommended Access to all my friends and would definitely use them again. read more

I moved to NYC from Philadelphia and was looking for a storage facility in the area to store some of my stuff while I moved in to my sublet. I found Access Self Storage since it was close in the area, but it was a really lucky find. The service was awesome, the staff were very helpful, the prices were good, and the facility was excellent! The only way they can improve upon the service is if they have a full service open bar at the facility! Let me elaborate - the service from the staff was really good. I had come in close to closing time, really exhausted and tired and under time pressure to return my rental UHaul. The staff there helped me unload some of my stuff and move it to my storage locker. They were also very helping and let me stay a while longer past closing time so I could get all my stuff in the unit before I left. It was a great relief to be set up and moved in in such a short period of time - and with the friendly professional service, I really couldn't have asked for more. As for the rest - the facility is really clean and the storage lockers are excellent. The quality of the facilities, cleanliness, availability of carts, clear organization etc. definitely make it worth the price. WONDERFUL service and team! I am moving out of our storage locker at Access today, after storing our stuff here for several years. The competitive pricing is what originally drew us here, but the friendly and helpful staff is what kept us here. Moving is stressful and no fun, and during the last few weeks each and every one of their staff did whatever they could to help facilitate the process. Additionally, the packing materials that they have on site came in so handy, and were priced reasonably. I was a customer of Access Self Storage for 15 years. I can say from experience that they provide excellent, reliable and safe storage for the long haul. I had no problems or even minor issues in all that time, and whenever I had occasion to speak with the staff they were always courteous and helpful. I cannot imagine having had a more trouble-free long-term experience. Because of my work (I have been a reporter and photographer since the late 1980s) I had among other things more than 40 large boxes of files - news clippings, research, notes and thousands of print photos. When we transferred these to my new garage, we noticed that not a single paper smelled funny, and there was surprisingly little dust and no evidence of bug activity. So I can say without hesitation that Access keeps the air dry and the place clean, consistently. On a personal note, I had an office in the World Trade Center and my wife and I ran a bakery/cafe in Little Italy until 2003. We were here for the 9/11 attacks, and when we needed to take a storage place, safety and security were foremost on our minds. I spent about a month researching options and it seemed like I was doomed to go with the lesser evil (all the bigger companies I researched seemed to have hidden costs and rates that went up after a couple of months). Luckily I stumbled onto Access Storage one night. After calling Soraya I had such a good feeling from her, she went above and beyond for me, even sending me photos of the unit. So when I needed storage in Long Island City I was happy to see that there was an Access Self-Storage facility close by. I brought home things from my unit in October and began to notice holes in my things. The elbow of a sweater jacket missing. A cocoon in my fall jacket with surrounding holes. My dry cleaner confirmed it was moths. I called the storage unit and they seemed not shocked. Upon examining everything in my unit, I found moths crawling around in my suitcase, curtains, sheets, winter blankets, and clothes. It was on the first floor and the ceiling of each unit is very open with exception of some bars. They did even offer to give me a new unit. No one helped me clean. One woman was very nice and gave me gloves, but I had to buy my own repellent and return with a friend. There were holes, larvae, and excrement in my things. I had to throw out thousands of dollars worth of items. (The number of the insurance company was provided but they only cover $500 of vermin damage even if you paid for $2000 worth of protection.) I also asked the office workers if they would inform the units that surrounded mine. There was no answer. The moths had to have come from another unit and had to have spread elsewhere. If you have been affected by moths in this facility, please friend me. I think we have a case for small claims court. All clients on that floor deserved to know about the infestation ASAP in order to save their belongings. read more

Everyone in NYC has a storage space right? For those of you outside of NYC you have no idea how small and cramped NYC really is. Our apartments are all pretty small. What is considered to be a luxury apartment in NYC is a joke anywhere else in the country. The only city as cramped as NYC in the world is Tokyo. Storage units are just a fact of life in NYC. I am not a hoarder in fact I might be the opposite of a hoarder. I could easily land a job as someone who helps you get rid of stuff if you are a hoarder. I do not know anyone in NY who has the space to be hoarder. In addition to everyone in NYC needing a storage space I have a storage space because I left some very cherished things of mine that I own at my mom's. They were photo albums from the 4 proms I went to in high school. (for a girl a prom is only second to a wedding) my martial arts trophies and about 20 other photo albums. They were in boxes and she just gave them to Goodwill when she moved to a resort community. My child hood friends have given me quite a few pictures from my youth but not all of the 20 albums. I still have my friends though and still have my memories with the exception of one. I am still friends with the guys who took me to the prom who were like brothers to me but one was shot and killed and nobody else has that picture! So though I have a happy life now I want to save my memories as much as I can. So having said that I have had my stuff in storage units in Brooklyn and Queens. Manhattan is way too expensive. What some people pay for rent in other cities you pay for a storage unit in Manhattan. I have had my stuff here for years and years. The reason is the price. And if you are already a customer your price stays the same. In all the years I have had my stuff here I think my price was only raised once or twice and it is still reasonable. I put my stuff here before LIC was popular and there were no hotels or restaurants or parks. It was very industrial. So I was quite the genius to choose LIC to store my stuff. The price has most likely gone up due to the area becoming popular now. I had to get some stuff and put some stuff in for my birthday. Most storage units in NY are mad scary. I could tell stories of jokes played on me in the past in previous storage facilities but I won't. Access is well lit and cleaner than most storage facilities. They provide a lot of free services. They offer a free truck to pick up your storage boxes. Free furniture dollies, hand trucks, and rolling carts...FREE. You can arrange to have them accept deliveries for you...FREE. One year I had canceled my credit card and changed it or something due to a stolen credit card. I forgot to tell them and instead of just closing my unit they knew all my payments were on time usually and knew it must be due to some issue I was having and they were patient and courteous as I didn't get back to them right away due to phone problems and not getting messages either. The hours are nice and long so you don't have to take off of work or interrupt your life to get there. Though a truck can pick up your stuff and drop it off for you if you are going with the truck make sure to have a ride home it is far from the subway the truck doesn't take you home. But most people have friends pick them up. This is by far the best storage unit I have used. read more

Well maintained, friendly and helpful staff. The only thing that I don't love about this storage location is that there is one elevator, and it's operated by a staff member. When I was moving in, the process was slow because although the elevator is large, managing traffic is challenging with just one elevator. The person operating the elevator is always polite and helpful. Everything else about this location is great. I see the staff actively cleaning almost every time I am there. The hallways and bathrooms are clean and smell good! I would absolutely recommend this company for storage. read more

I tried to do some research to find a trustworthy, clean, convenient storage facility but it was hard to find many reviews of places near me (Greenpoint, Brooklyn). I went with the LIC Access, crossed my fingers, and went with it. I was so glad I did. Like Eliza, another reviewer says, there's a family feeling here. The managers and shift supervisors are very nice and helpful any time I needed anything. I had a unit for almost two years. My unit was clean. No vermin. The place was never annoyingly busy. Sometimes I had to wait a few minutes longer than I wanted to for the freight elevator, but it wasn't unreasonable. The elevator guys were mostly friendly. To prep for a move, I bought a ton of boxes and packing tape. I was able to return everything I didn't use for a full refund. Awesome! read more

I just took my stuff out of the storage room I rented for 6 months. I had a great experience storing in this facility. Location: Kind of in the middle of nowhere, kind of far from the subway, but the Q67 bus from the Hunts Point 7 station will drop you off right next to the facility. It's an industrial area, lots of other storage facilities and sound stages, don't expect a great view. It is easily accesible by car, and also by foot if you feel up to it. Reservation and payments: I decided to call directly instead of making my reservation online, and was asked to stop by the facility, which ended up not being as inconvenient as I thought it was going to be (re: thanks to the Q67 bus!). I was given a tour of the facility and the two options of locker sizes I was looking for. They explained that the lockers are not temperature controlled (not really a problem) and that some sections are not fully lit (more on this below). I asked for shelves and they immediately installed them in the locker I had chosen, even though I was going to drop off my stuff in the following days, which was nice, I knew for sure the shelves were going to be there. I opted out of the auto-pay option. Price: It's less expensive than other storage facilities, especially Manhattan Mini Storage (or any storage place in Manhattan for that matter), but it seems to be the average price for the storage facilities around the area. I did get one of the smaller locker sizes, and I still had room for a bunch of furniture, bikes, dressers, etc... Good prices for the size of the lockers. Staff: Everyone is super friendly and helpful, from the front desk staff to the guys who operate the elevator. I was at the storage facility several times during my 6 month rental period, picking up and dropping off stuff, and everyone was always pleasant and very informative. Facility: Every time I went in, the facility looked clean and organized. Never saw a bug or a mouse, or any droppings, and I have eagle eyes for that kind of stuff. It would get a tiny bit hot inside during the summer months (no temperature control), but nothing unbearable, and actually cooler than outside. It's a little bit of a maze, but there's enough signs for you to be able to get around. Some hallways are not very well lit, which can be a tiny bit scary, but knowing that, bring a flash light or make sure to choose a locker in one of the main hallways. Mine was in a semi-lit one on the second flor, and I had no problems, I just used my phone flash light to check out stuff inside my locker. Today was the first time I saw A LOT of trucks and cars outside, but it still had enough parking spaces and space to move around. They offer dollies in case you need them, and also offer a free truck for new customers. I didn't use that service cause it wasn't available for the day I needed it, but it wasn't a problem. They also sell boxes and a bunch of other stuff that might be useful to you, in the front space. Overall, my experience here was great. I'm glad I no longer need to use a storage facility, but I would definitely use Access Self Storage again if I needed to store my stuff in the future.
