The place is neat and clean lots of light. My things are secure. Everyone is helpful and kind My only and main concern are the hours of operation... I just wish they were open later on week days and on weekends When I do need to go - it's usually closed. I have to take day off from work to go to the storage facility. I would give them no stars if I could absolutely the worst experience after multiple rebrandings of the business. The newest one is Extra Space Storage same bullshit in the same spot. After finding out that all my clothes were damaged because somebody decided to smoke marijuana around the area and shut off the sprinkler systems I get told I'm only covered for $2,000 in addition to that I asked what am I supposed to do Waze all the damage clothes this little West Indian girl who works there tells me I have to take it with me I told her there is no space in my car and then tells me that I have to figure it out then I asked her as a courtesy they should take it since I just took a lost that as a courtesy they should take the destroyed items with them she replied by saying that they will not and if I leave it there and they're going to charge me a clean-up fee the how you going to charge me a clean-up fee when my items were destroyed in your care I don't understand how that even make sense at least have the decency to at least take care of that. Her nonchalant attitude it's really what ticked me off she was not supposed Vedic or empathetic to the situation as I drove all the way from Jersey to go pick up some suits for work and I lost everything the other employees that were there one more sympathetic to the situation needless to say I'm done with this fucking place read more

My boyfriend and I came in looking for a decently priced storage unit for our belongings. Palma, the assistant store manager, was a great help. We were unsure as to what size unit we would need. Palma asked us questions about what we would be storing and provided us with the perfect size to meet our needs. She immediately showed us the unit and went through the company's policies as we purchased the unit. She was open to questions and very friendly, making the experience a pleasant one. This particular extra space storage facility located at 945 Zerega Avenue, Bronx, NY 10473 is undergoing some major construction work. How much of it has to do with the April 2018 Asbestos warning signs posted no one will ever know. All I can tell you is that in addition to the Asbestos exposure signs which were posted in April 2018, is a rampant rodent issue, lights that are not working in the storage units, ceiling leaks , and it's not an air conditioning facility which might cause some of your stored items to warp... read more

Better Business Bureau: We would like to reject the offer of Arbitration for complaint ID 12949046. We reject the offer to arbitrate because of the following: First, Extra Space Storage "ESS" heard and chose to not listen to our valid complaint regarding our health concerns caused by the 945 Zerega Avenue, Bronx, NY 10473 facility's posting of the Asbestos Exposure warning sign, which lacked an explanation detailing the cause and actual location of the toxic airborne particles. Our initial contact with the site was met with a response that a fellow employee who was pregnant had not shown any negative side affects from being exposed to the Asbestos. This is and cannot be seriously considered to be a valid and/or ample assurance for us to safely reenter the facility. All that we simply requested was to be provided with a clearance letter/note, but they chose not to provide any documentation whatsoever. Second, upon contacting ESS's Headquarters and speaking with a District Manager from Customer Service, she stated that she could and would not provide such a clearance note and that in doing so it would be too much of task for them to mail out such notices to all clients; followed by her statement that we owed X amount the monthly fees and auction notice, and that if we failed to pay the said amount, our items would be auctioned on August 1st. Therefore, our conversion ended by agreeing we were at an impasse. Moreover, ESS does not seem to have any financial difficulties or added responsibilities for mailing out notices and making countless phone calls to remind their customers of the rental fees dues, including notice of lien and cancellation of insurance, and notices of auctions. Further, upon communicating with Mr. Lopes, from customer service, he suggested that he could not help us, but said that if the total amount due was too steep then we should directly contact the Site Manager to workout a Pay to Vacate agreement. We did and the site manager immediately and arbitrability denied our request for a Pay to Vacate agreement, certainly due to this BBB Complaint. If we would have received a simple basic note stating that the Asbestos exposure was confined to an isolated area and that non of our items were affected, then we would have immediately carried our plan to vacate towards the end of April 2018, rather than July 28, 2018 which was 3 months later and where we inadvertently and reluctantly accrued 2 additional months of rental fees and an auction fees for something that we should not have been billed in the first place had ESS provided a Clearance note to assuage our Health concerns which are on the record. We reject the offer of arbitration because we are well aware that ESS has the financial backing to litigate via arbitration through its legal department and therefore make our Complaint invalid based on the False Affirmations from ESS staff members. At this juncture, what we want and desire is for the truth concerning Extra Space Storage Management's Shady Business practices to be Exposed and for our Complaint to remain on the Record via Better Business Bureau website for all potential storage customers to view... Moreover, for our Compliant and BBB, we are submitting some exhibits containing photos of the actual site and their blatant negligence to customer. ESS charges exorbitant rental fees without proving an air condition control environment which causes the destruction of stored items, they have a rodent rampage issue (See photos marked Rodent Trap 1 and 2); Both lights in our unit (See photo marked Non Working Light 1) which never worked, and we did complained, but nothing was ever done to resolve that issue and I am certain that part of the rental fees were allocated for having 2 light fixtures that never were in working order. Third, throughout the facility, we notice various posting of the Ceiling Leaks in either an actual Unit or in the immediate area adjacent to the storage units. (See photo marked Ceiling Leaks in Units) The point remains that if ESS is only prepared to do the bare minimum for its customers, if anything at all (our complaints were heard but not addressed), and yet they have no issues collecting rental fees which only helps the EXR NYSE stock. Unfortunately I have to say that I am disappointed with Extra Space Storage. Several calls were made by staff to ensure that I came in to sign a lease for a unit. And a great deal of emphasis is made on rental payments and fees one will incur if payments are not made on time. But on the day that I was scheduled to move in the freight elevator was out of order. Management was well aware that my move in date was scheduled for Monday 10/27/14 and receiving a courtesy call about the freight elevator being out of service would have been appreciated. But I guess the risk of losing my business far outweighed a courtesy call. The fact that the freight elevator was out of order presented a great inconvenience and put additional strain on our move in date. Unfortunately I am now stuck with this contract for the time being but you can be rest assured that I will not recommend Extra Space Storage to any of my friends. read more
