I recently closed out my storage unit at Manhattan Mini Storage and had such a great experience thanks to Cyrus. He was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process, making everything smooth and easy. I really appreciated his professionalism and attentiveness. I also want to give a shoutout to Cloyde, always a friendly face every time I visited. He made coming in feel welcoming, and I'll definitely miss seeing him. The staff here truly makes all the difference. Just a heads-up for anyone considering renting here: the online price is an introductory rate, so expect the price to go up over time. The price will probably double after a few months. They used to offer a free storage van with pickup and drop-off, which was an amazing perk. Unfortunately, that service has been discontinued. It would be great to see Manhattan Mini Storage bring that back. Overall, still a positive experience, and I'd recommend them if you are in the Hells Kitchen area especially for the friendly and helpful staff. read more

This is a heartless large corporation that has no regard for the local people in a neighborhood. 1) They charge huge fees for little space and charge OUTRAGEOUS late fees, with no regard for extenuating circumstances. I was just charged over $100.00 in late fees for ONE MONTH (May) -- even after I explained that my credit card had been stolen and I had to get a new one with a new number--and that was the reason my payment was late (all documented with my bank). On top of the hassle of a card being stolen and not knowing if my bank would reimburse me for money that was spent by the thieves (the bank did reimburse me--but it took a week or so). I called Manhattan Mini Storage to give them the new number--well before the due date for the next bill. But I then found out that I was being charged TWO late fees (who ever heard of such a thing for ONE month's lateness?) adding up to over $100.00! I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and do not have that kind of money to throw away!!! I spoke with a supervisor who told me it was 'the system' that was not letting her waive the fee (didn't human beings create this 'system'?) 2) I live on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where there are many older people and people on disability who get government checks. These checks do not clear until the 3rd of the 4th of each month and yet Manhattan Mini Storage, will give you a late fee if they cannot collect by the 4th of the month! That is showing NO concern for the local population and its needs. When I brought this to their attention, I was again told that it was 'the system. This company is owned by people in another part of the country and is exactly the kind of inhuman and impersonal corporation that is making most of us feel alienated in this world. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!! I understand there is a local storage place starting up in my neighborhood and am going to check it out and speak about my experience with Manhattan Mini Storage to the many people I know locally. This place is a scam wrapped in a lease. They raised my rent 100% just months after I moved in, then hiked it again 3 months later. No fixed terms, no transparency -- just predatory pricing that increases every few months, regardless of demand. Avoid this place. Terrible. Hiked the price by 25 percent only three months in, and when I questioned them about it, they said it was "standard" for them to raise the rent THREE TIMES in one year! Of course, this is not in the lease, and they don't admit this to you up front. Total bait-and-switch scam in its purest form. After seeing multiple units of the size, I was guaranteed, they do not actually have the size I was guaranteed. All units I viewed were at least a foot shorter than guaranteed in every direction. Absolutely do not book with or commit to these units. read more

RUN. DO NOT USE THIS STORAGE PLACE. These people are so evil. They don't care at all about their customers, this is so horrible I have no idea what to even do right now. I rented this unit after finding out so had to leave to country for work on very short notice. I started moving in my belongings. Halfway through my code to get in the building stopped working. There was someone else outside having the exact same issue. But they aren't leaving the country for work so they can confront these horrible people tomorrow at 8am when they will actually answer. Half my stuff is inside; half is out. They say no one can help me until 8am. I have to be at the airport at 4am. I paid way too much for this unit, and I can't even cancel and move my stuff to another place. I'm completely screwed. They had the audacity to tell me they couldn't do anything because what was happening was "not an emergency, a emergency is when the building is on fire." Right now I am standing outside, half my stuff inside, half out. They have my money and my stuff--and I bet you these evil people keep charging me the full amount each month even after what they did. read more

I would like to say, I have been storing here at 543 W. 43rd in Manhattan NYC for about 2 yrs. The service is great, and the staff are awesome. The place is very clean. Well-lit as in lighting. The elevator service is great. I had some an issue with my billing and Mr. Ahmad Hooper handed the issue and things are going smoothly now. The rate increased 20% this January and another 50% in August, so I have to pay $100 extra per month than my original contract. It is crazy. Also, I was given a short notice in May saying that they need to renovate the second floor, so was forced to move to the 4th floor within one week. Terrible management. read more

Unfortunately, our small business discontinued our long term (7 years) rental with Manhattan Mini Storage at 5030 Broadway in Inwood, Manhattan. Since the new managment took over, hours of access were reduced, parking and docking accessed was reduced, while rent increased. Also, elevators seem to often break down, which gave us access to only one of two to be utilized. All the friendly and skilled managers have moved on to other locations. When we moved out last month, the long-term employees were very kind and shared in our lamentation that the company, under this new ownership, does not value the local community or make seriving local vendors as a priority. It's too bad, as the proximity is ideal for our business, but this company doesn't have their priorities in order and we are going elsewhere. read more

These are professional Grifters, running a business. This arrogant, bait-and-switch switch company provides absolutely no customer service except for 20% or higher rate increases every single year after your initial period. There is no negotiation because there is no human being with whom to negotiate: the front desk lackeys exist to sell supplies, They have no authority except taking your initial business (when they'll negotiate rates very slightly) but thereafter they're unresponsive as donkeys. They freely admit their corporate headquarters will not respond. Do you think I'd get a reduction due to a gigantic cement column taking lotsa space inside my unit? Only my initial nine months... then came the whopper annual rate increases. There is absolutely no way to check their rates after the first year. Oh, if mules could talk! I've been told the company is under new ownership, but their arrogance and unresponsiveness is even worse than before. Gotham MiniStorage is far superior; it's run by humans. I'd move there, except to haul and reorganize my things is an enormous hassle... Exactly what Manhattan MiniStorage well understands...so they nonchalantly assess 50% (or higher) rate increases by your third year. Even for NYC, these gougers are extreme. read more

This is a nice storage space and convenient for me, BUT ... They advertise reasonable rates to get you in. Once you're in, they raise the rates at their discretion and there's nothing you can do about it. I currently have 2 units. One was raised 20%, the other 40%. I was told it was still below market rent (which suddenly went way up over the last 3 months), but that's an additional $360 a year for me. I spoke to the manager and he was unwilling or unable to negotiate. So rent here if you need to, but be aware that your "reasonable" rent can go up exorbitantly whenever they feel like it. read more

My wife and I have had one small storage unit at MMS for several years, and were faced with the potential need for another if her office space closed, requiring us to move a small office's worth of equipment and documents into storage. (Renting two smaller units close by each other rather than renting a single, large unit). Setting aside that this location is expensive -- the neighborhood is trending-- we are exceedingly happy with the warm, personal service we regularly get from the staff. While that applies to the entire crew, we must sIngle out an assistant manager named Bobby, who went out of his way to introduce us to a flea market vendor who happily removed much of our stuff for free, saving us great expense from hiring a carting service. Although this location is too expensive to recommend for long-term walk-in storage, it is ideal for any other use case. read more

Love this place!! Has been essential for my new business and super convenient. I am up to several storage units already. Huge carts and freight elevators are a relief. But most of all, the staff is exceptional, customer service is unbelievable! Lawrence helped me find another unit when all my stuff didn't quite fit. Stayed late and even helped me move some stuff. New ownership since February 2022 means reviews prior to that date are meaningless. Newly instituted $15 monthly charge for insurance (for $3500 coverage) unless you provide "proof of insurance." After emailing my proof, as instructed, two different times, and numerous phone calls, during which it is acknowledged that proof was received, charge is still assessed the next month. Plus, without any notice, my rent is increased $40 a month (12%). Even though it's a pain, I'm moving out. read more

Multiple people at Manhattan Mini Storage seem to be incapable of understanding the nature of my complaint. As I have expressed in my initial review I was snapped at and intimidated over the fact that I don't have an emergency contact in the USA. The guy who did this was simply looking for an excuse to get angry at someone and made me out to be his victim. For some reason no one at this company seems to speak proper English and they just explain to me why having an emergency contact is necessary. The root of my complaint still hasn't been addressed nor do I expect that anyone will ever so much as acknowledge what happened. I am so utterly disgusted by the way this complaint is being handled that I have cancelled my contract and am going to tell everyone who will listen what a hostile company this is. read more

If you go here on a weekday afternoon, it will seem like the WB Mason Corporate HQ. Lots of trucks taking up parking, blocking every access, with guys either on their phones or just asleep in their trucks. If you manage to get in the building, they will be all over the loading dock. While I didn't have the problems Susan had, I will say I was expecting a lot of this place and it didn't deliver. Their website is really really great - user friendly, easy to navigate, and I thought simple to make a reservation. I then got lots of e-mail confirmations leading up to the day I was supposed to move in, so I thought this would be an in and out process. But no, it took a ridiculous amount of time to fill out all the requisite paperwork and the whole time I'm thinking, now why couldn't I have done this all online? Basically I just filled out my name and address about 14 times. Then, to add insult to injury, they refused to give me a hand cart to go get my stuff! I live a mere two blocks and two avenues, and we didn't have all that much stuff - one hand cart would have been ideal, but instead, they gave us a little square wheely thing on which we had to stack our stuff. This led to a rather tortuous, though comical jaunt through Hell's Kitchen in which many items where sprayed across 9th Ave. whenever the tower o' stuff decided to topple over. But, once we got it all there, it was a fairly easy load up, and thank god it's somewhat convenient and cheap. But for the love of God, let the people who don't need to rent a car to move their stuff 2 blocks use your damn hand trucks! read more

I give the Manhattan mini storage on 43rd street a one star because I cannot give them a solid zero.The customer service at the location is so poor.The staff are lazy,grumpy,always slumped down in their rocking chairs and never willing to STAND up to help.Last week I asked for accommodations due to hardship,mind you I never asked for this throughout my 5 year use of their service OR in the pandemic,AND I did NOT ask for fee waiver,I asked if they could give me a two day due date extension so I could buy a little more time to pay my dues for 3 STORAGE UNITS!!!.When I called the location,the staff immediately told me no(no "let me see what I can do",pretty much go fu*k yourself)and days later their regional manager Debbie called me scolding me for daring to ask for hardship accommodations.They all need a lesson on customer service and empathy,From Debbie DOWN!ZERO!I have said this for YEARS! read more

I was moving from the east side to west side and into a smaller space so I needed storage and movers. I called MMS and they set everything up; it was super easy. Come move day, however, it turned out that the space my consultant over the phone had recommended (which came with a special price) was actually too small. The next largest space was not on sale and almost $100 a month more expensive. At that point (movers and furniture all ready to be put in storage), I had no choice but to go with the larger space. Mmmm... still trying to decide if this is classic bait and switch or an honest mistake. Anyhow, I liked MMS for the ease of setting things up and the professionalism of the head mover. I'm a little irked about the monthly price I'm paying, but it's partly my fault for accumulating so much crap over three years in a small apartment. Go figure... read more

Using the services was not necessarily simple. But. Reggie was *amazing*!! Both when I went to load into my storage unit, and when it was time to move out of it, my friend/co-signer on the storage and I were having some difficulty with the moving (top-level unit) and right then and there - Reggie appeared and gave us all the help we needed. He really went above and beyond, both from recognizing our need for assistance to begin with, to getting water for all of us when the job grew difficult.
