Their pricing is a scam. They change the rental pricing and protection plan coverage every month/couple of months without telling you what the new price will be in advanced, why it's being changed, and if you can opt into a different tier. For example, one month in, they changed their protection plan coverage pricing and automatically put me on the most expensive plan. The manager then mistakenly canceled all my coverage for a month I had already paid for. It was a real mess. They also doubled my rental price within three months even though their website says "From time to time, there may be a minimal adjustment to your rental rate." Customer service reps could not give me any reason as to how doubling the rent is considered reasonable and within their stated policy. Avoid. read more

Shady. Really bad experience with Storage Mart. Their system, for whatever reason, stopped processing my automatic monthly payment. When I realized this, I asked tried paying off the balance through my online account but the option to do so seems to have been removed. I emailed their offices about this so they said they would send a one-time payment link to me via email which should allow me to pay off the balance...however they've sent 4 of these payment links now and each one is "expired" when I click on it. I've since been calling their office but can't get anyone on the phone. The worst part is, each week that I've been unable to pay off my balance they continually add $75 late fee charges to my account and have been advertising to auction off my unit!! There's a massive email paper trail of me attempting to get this paid off but they refuse to acknowledge that the issue is on their end being unable to process my payments. I'm at a loss with what to do. However I beg you all not to trust these crooks. read more

BEWARE. This company will randomly up your rate by 20% without reason. They are already charging more than the advertised price for the unit without promotions and have upped the rent TWICE ($100 a month total) without reason. The place isn't better staffed, cleaner, my unit isn't larger, nor has the service improved. New customers pay less and get offered additional promotional discounts on top of that, but longterm good customers get to have their rent upped for no reason? And by over $50 a month (rent has gone up $100 a month for my unit in the last two years), not a simple regular inflation based raise. Price gouging is gross. The total lack of customer service is acute here as well. This is not an establishment that values its customers at all and lacks basic communication and customer service skills. This company relies on knowing that moving to one of the many competitors nearby is difficult and costly for most people, and raises the rent during countrywide tough financial times because they know people most likely can't move out. It's a shame and makes being a patron of their company feel gross and icky. Very unfortunate. I would not recommend this company. There are MANY other options for companies that do not raise their prices randomly or gouge existing clients to offset the lower rates being offered to new clients. read more

This place is the worst. DO NOT TRUST THEM. This place is awful. Their water pipe burst in our storage unit and flooded our entire unit. Ruined over $30,000 worth of valuable art, furniture, music equipment, etc. they want to give us $1,200 to make up for it. These people are thieves and liars. I hope their business suffers. This storage mart far exceeded my expectations! The storage space has wide hallways to make moving-in and out a breeze. The wide loading door can fit many vehicles and they even have an electric lift to assist with any heavy loads in the loading dock! The management was friendly when talking about hours and information. Todd was extremely helpful in accommodating for my specific move-in times and made my experience at Storage Mart South Williamsburg extraordinary. I have this storage space for a year now, not only the employees are rude, but now I know they get it from the manager, so unprofessional. I lost my card and I never been late on a payment they charge 15.00 dollars late fee, I tried to asked him if he can wave it but he refused and that is ok but when I try to give him a new card to collect the payment he said the number is wrong that doesn't sound like a MasterCard number????? How about can you please repeat the number? Well he is doing an awesome job educating his employees to be as rude as he is.... time to look for another storage, it's obvious they don't need my 200.00 plus a month. Honestly, they don't deserve a second star after what they pulled. But let me give you a fair review with a few silver linings. I've been a customer for about 3 years and had mostly smooth experiences. The staff is usually nice and helpful, including today despite whole ordeal I had to experience. Shoutout to Todd (I think that was his name) for doing a good job of dealing with an angry customer. However, the company itself is shady and cares more about ripping off customers than anything else. Beware of their auto-pay option--it's a scam. They magically couldn't charge my credit card for some reason and decided that they'd make the least effort in contacting me before cutting my locks, revoking my access, and hitting me with a bunch of fees that are complete BS. They relied solely on emails instead of making a personal call or even a good old fashioned notice in the mail. Meanwhile, my company deals with multimillion-dollar clients and doesn't invade their privacy over late payments. Clearly, there was a miscommunication, but instead of fixing it, they charged me ridiculous fees, including for cutting off my own locks. This place is all about squeezing money out of you, no matter how loyal you've been. Find a more reputable storage facility. And by the way, it's not just that, it's also an unpleasant place to be inside of, I've seen rats there--it's a disgusting hellhole. Deceitful and disgusting.... I'd give them negative Stars if I could. Rented a unit from them for years and had to evacuate immediately due to major rodent infestation. After discussing with management, they said they'd offer me compensation for damages, of which were extensive (I provided photos and even had the onsite manager come and see for himself). After moving out I provided all the necessary documentation but then never heard a reply. They completely ignored all further communication and denied any compensation. Yes - I could go into further detail about my home owners/ insurance coverage versus their insurance coverage, but the bottom line is they reneged on our agreement and that's just bad customer service. My only complaint is that I was given a storage unit that could only be reached via stairs - I had to use one of those rolling staircases on wheels. This was difficult because I was storing heavy suitcases and it was hard for me to carry them up the stairs. If I'd known in advance that that was the unit I was getting, I would've made other arrangements. read more

This is a great place, I checked in at 4:40 (20 minutes before closing) yesterday and Todd was incredibly helpful and friendly despite our making him stay after closing. The whole process went quite efficiently too. The garage has a lift to help with heavy items which was great. One thing to note is that the hallways are quite narrow, and the entrances to the units are sometimes less wide than the actual unit, so keep that in mind for large items. read more

This place is terrible. The service is not good and the policies are very shady. My bill was two months past due and instead of calling they gave me fees that tripled my bill. If you plan to store here just put all of your stuff straight into the dumpster. Extremely cheap storage. Buy insurance if you are worried about your stuff. My friend moved here on a whim and needed quick and efficient storage space. I helped her with her move and it was done so fast. They offered us a great large space and we had no problems getting in and out of the unit. The customer service here is wonderful too. The guy at the desk was nice, and it seemed like it was an okay place. But then I checked out the actually unit, and there was rat poop on the floors. We checked several, and again and again, rat poop, and poison just randomly thrown around. On one floor, there was old shitty carpet, and the other had a see-through grating that was somewhat disconcerting. When I asked for an immediate refund, they were kind about it. My suggestion is DO NOT STORE YOUR BELONGINGS HERE! Why not? They do not have cameras in every hallway or stairwells, only by elevators. My lock was shimmied open and my computer was stolen. The corporate headquarters says they are not responsible because it doesn't look like a forced break in: no broken lock or damage to the door. Even the police report says the lock was most likely shimmied. I looked on youtube to see how that is done and there are several videos by high school kids who show how to make a shim tool out of a soda can. Since there are no camera's it can't be proven either way. Why did someone choose my locker in particular? I looked around and saw that I am the only one that had a combination lock on the floor. However, when I moved in, I showed it to the employee who showed me the space and he told me that lock would be fine. He even watched me lock the door securely. This place is NOT SAFE and the corporate headquarters treats me with no respect and acts like I'm the one who is doing something wrong. read more
