I would recommend this storage warehouse to anyone. The customer service was superb; from the first phone call to book a storage unit, to changing the size of it, to checking out on moving day. Even though the phone prompts can be annoying ("press 1 for _____, press 3 now for _____"), once you reach a live person, they are all super helpful in helping you find the right size storage unit for you. Getting a direct number is close to impossible, unfortunately. There are several locations, they are more than happy to find you the closest one to you. I also needed to change the size of my storage unit once I saw it in person (beware, the "great" deals they have are on the SMALLEST warehouse units they have), and they were very happy to help me do that. Never experienced such poor customer service at any establishment before. The woman downstairs, Nali, is extremely rude, unwelcoming, and aggressive. I came to get a new unit, and the entire time she not only talked over me, interrupting me mid-sentence, but she would raise her voice at me and throw her hands near my face. This was either my second or third encounter with her, and each time she keeps cutting me off. I urge you to go to a different storage facility, as this one does not care for its customers. Upon payment, she had me put in my card in the card reader and charged me prior to telling me the price and said that it was somehow "protocol". Come to find out, she did this because she was trying to scam me and overcharge me. Luckily before I signed and submitted any forms, I asked for a copy of the charges to review and called her out on her fraudulent act. I have no idea how that employee has not been fired yet, I am lucky I was able to leave the situation unscathed. With how she was raising her voice and her aggressive body language, I genuinely felt threatened and thought she was going to physically assault me. Whoever the manager is here, please do your due diligence and background check your employees. Jay and Jerry have been extremely helpful - but as long as the angry lady is still employee here, I do not feel safe or secure. read more

But most people in the position to be using this place are rich enough that money isn't the issue, so they get away with it. It's nice to apologize but you have to realize that you are paying this company to monitor social media in order to keep their public image tidy. You pay for that stuff. Very disappointing. I stored some boxes here about two years ago, and have regretted it ever since. I was given a space with a boarded up window to the street. They said they had no others, and taped a plastic garbage bag over the window when I stated that dust would come in. The plastic quickly fell off. Now my things are covered in a visible layer of soot from Varick Street, and the the freezing temperatures from outside have caused valuable items to crack. The top of the storage space is just a wire grill, another way for dust to fall right in! They said they would call me to give me another unit when available, but didn't, until I called them several times. Thereafter they offered me a better unit at various times and prices (mostly higher), but I could not go there in the middle of winter. Now the staff offered to vacuum my boxes and let me move to another unit, but I haven't had time. (Is it my job to do this?) They have no problem charging me full price every month for a substandard unit-- but in return they don't think they must give the customer a clean, evenly heated space, free of dust and drafts. They even tried to raise my monthly rent last year, but then after one month kept it stable when I protested. The quality of the storage unit is extremely poor, although the customer service staff are often very friendly. At this point soot and dust has permeated the insides of the boxes and a dusty smell pervades my things. Very depressing, wish I had used a reliable storage place in New Jersey. Such an amazing place. Both times I've been here my experience has been great and everyone is so helpful. The first time I went to schedule a unit Jose helped my roommate and I. He was so cheerful and happy to show us different units in the hunt to find one that met our needs best. When we went on the day that the rental began Jovarny helped us. Some of the staff are wonderful but others are incompetent and try to overcharge you. I used to have a unit with them on 58 street which is closing. they moved me to Varick street, wrong movers, wrong unit and wrong (higher) price! They would not refund my security from the first more expensive unit. They are holding a $157 deposit on a $52 per month unit. Delroy and Wendy were super helpful in straightening it out but the others are clueless. Then some staff member puts a lock on my unit! Another irritating mix up! I hope some day to downsize and get away from Mini Storage altogether. read more

I have had only positive experience with this business and customer support was always superior. Francia and India at the front desk are role models for the highest level of customer service. They are incredibly polite and accommodating. I needed a space little smaller (aka cheaper) than anything available at the time of the first inquiry. Very helpful customer service!! When I checked out yesterday, I had all my stuff on a cart right outside the lobby. To hail a cab, you have to go around the corner (the street is pretty empty). It took me about 10 minutes to get one, and when I finally did and came back to my stuff, my ski jacket was gone! I immediately thought someone had stolen it since the area is pretty sketchy, and panicked because I couldn't stay to ask for help since the cab was waiting for me. I quickly asked the employee at the desk to write my cell phone number down so he could call me if he found it. On the cab ride, I called the storage and asked the employee if he could please look for my jacket on the floor my storage was on in case I had dropped the jacket instead. I haven't been to many locations, but the Varick St. location is great. The people are always super accommodating and helpful, their customer service is great, and the space is clean. Their VERY small flaws is that there's only one large elevator so you have to wait a while for it since everyone's using it (but it's not that serious), and some sizes of rooms are the same price yet there may be large beams, pillars, pipes, etc. that limit the space of the room. I get that it's due to building structure which is not their fault, however, there should be some type of discount for this since you're essentially losing space on a room that you could get without those things, for the same price. I will say, every time this has been a small concern, the employees are extremely helpful in finding another room for the price that doesn't have these space limits, so that's really nice. read more

I haven't had problems with the staff behind the counter...Just the inane annual letters touting their "premier" facilities and "amenities"...and then telling me they were increasing their monthly fee on my 64 cu/ft spaces....After about 7 years my rate had doubled from the original. Did my space increase? No. Did MY salary double in 7 years? But Edison Parking/Manhattan Mini-Storage needs "mo money"....So they send out these letters telling you what a premier facility they are and THAT'S why they need to increase your rate again. Consider them the "Time Warner Cable" of storage facilities. Give me a rooftop pool or a sauna next time you want to raise your rates! read more
