I've been renting a unit here since early July. Last week, while moving some items around, I discovered mouse droppings scattered across the bottom of my unit. And, as I was pulling out my clothes and personal belongings, a mouse actually ran past me. I called the property manager's office and got a callback a day later. The staff member I spoke with admitted this is a known, ongoing issue. He said they believe mice are coming from the restaurant next door and using the units as a place to nest. He mentioned they have an exterminator come out monthly, but offered little else in the way of support or reassurance. I later spoke with the manager, Dawn, and was disappointed by her tone. She was dismissive about my concerns and, when I referenced what the earlier staff member had told me, said I'd been given incorrect information. This left me unsure what to actually believe about how widespread or long-standing this problem is. Regardless of the conflicting explanations, the facts are the same: there are mouse droppings throughout the hallways, and I personally saw a mouse in my own unit. Whatever pest control schedule they have in place clearly isn't enough to manage the problem. I've filed a report with Public Storage's corporate office. In the meantime, if you're considering renting here, I'd strongly encourage you to look elsewhere until this is resolved. read more

Payton at this Public Storage location on S Oyster Bay Rd is THE MAN, the savior, the calm in the storm as we sold our home, closed in 10 days and had to clear out 8000 sq feet of living space. He welcomed us warmly, had this very cool and reassuring way about him possessing a quiet confidence and great listening skills as he assessed our needs and was spot on in recommending and efficiently calculating the perfectly sized spaces to accommodate everything. He was very thorough and got us better rates than storage facilities in Glen Head and Syosset. What we received- 15 hour daily access to a clean, easy to enter, convenient, well lighted and well organized, safe facility with carts always available and ample parking spots. An app that is great and updated so we can open gates and doors using our cell phone as well as making payments in seconds. Above all, peace of mind! Thank you awesome Payton and Public Storage for taking care of us and picking up the phone when we do need to speak with someone at the facility and are 8100 miles away. You have made our family's life so much easier and stress free and the move and storage process a breeze and actually fun. I highly recommend this Public Storage venue about a mile south of Old Country Road and just north of Sexy Crab. read more

Poor communication when someone accidentally loses a key and they give you a lock and it's not the right block for their service and they terminate your contract. They never gave me the contract that was read to me and I'm the co-owner of that unit. The district manager is an idiotic moron. I do not recommend this place. he should be fired and everyone else too. read more

I was extremely disappointed with the service and administrative process when terminating my monthly storage rental contract. I was clearly told that the automatic payment would be stopped when the contract ended, but it was not stopped and I was charged anyway. I requested a refund, but there was no clear explanation of the procedure, and after a month and a half, I was finally told that a refund could not be issued because I still had the key and therefore they could not access the storage unit. This makes no sense to me. Why was there no contact at all during that month and a half, and why was there no explanation regarding the refund process? What is even more unbelievable is that I was told there is no master key. I was told that the storage office does not have a master key, so they cannot open a unit that has already been terminated, and therefore the refund cannot be processed. They simply repeat that the unit cannot be opened and that no refund is possible. In addition, when I visit the office in person, the office is closed nearly 90% of the time, and I am unable to meet or speak with a manager. When I call customer service, I receive only scripted, mechanical responses with no real assistance. read more

Nick was very helpful and professional. I recently rented a unit at the Hicksville location and he willingly showed me the location of several units before I selected the one I ultimately rented. He assisted in helping me download the Public Storage app, and explained how to use it for entry to the facility gates, building and elevator. There was a computer issue when trying to finalize the rental contract. He took care of it and followed up with a phone call to let me know the contract was complete and unit was available to access. I'm a new customer at 1250 rockaway ave, I have the worst experience at this storage was in tears of how I was treated, on Thursday January 15, 2025, by moving into this storage I had an accident with another vehicle at the gate, they came out and see what was going on with me, the workers closed down the unit and the gate with my stuff outside and in the lobby and the snow coming down on everything, I try to get help from the work to see if I could get just a little more time to the stuff in, I knock on the glass window, one of the guy playing music and dancing with his hands up in the air like he's at a party, the other guy stands looking at me like he's lost, they have no sympathy to it was the accident why so much time taken up, before that a young lady watching movie her head in the phone, no table for me to sign any paper works, one keep saying he don't want to go through the computer it's going to take up his time, they behavior wasn't was not good they need more training, have been in other storage and never see anything like that, there's a gentleman by the name of Shaqs he's polite and a very good business man, the storage need to get more people like me, the next day the lady call me by 9am come and get my stuff out of the lobby, if it wasn't so much I would look for another storage, they're very nasty there, the short space of time i have to deal with them i see so much that is no right, I don't know if anyone else have this kind of experience, they're not business like, I would get ride of them, not even in my dog house I wouldn't want to see them!! read more

Clean, accessible with good employees. Public Storage is not created for long term storage over a year. The rate increases come 6 months and a year after you move in. Within 2-3 years your unit has doubled in price with more increases on the way. they obviously use algorithms to determine your increases, 30%, 40% is what to expect and maybe more after your biannual increases. all based on availability and location. Just be prepared to move either to a smaller unit or another location to stay ahead of the price increases. read more

This business has false advertising. Online it says that there are units that are 5x5 with two different prices BUT what they don't tell you is that one is 4 feet high and the other one is 8 feet high. It only says locker size but if you don't know what that means you can be mislead. I never moved my stuff in and when I wanted the administrative fee refunded they refused. I think they are unethical and would never recommend this company. I called customer service and got no service at all when I explained my case. I am disgusted by the service at this location. I signed up for storage space here because of a rate of $92, one that I researched and found to be the best for my needs. Five months afterwards, I found that my bill had been raised $20. An employee at Public Storage told me that they can raise your rate at any time. What is the point of having a contract? Why should I shop around for the best rates when they can simply change it whenever they feel like it? I have called their manager to speak with him seven times in the last month. Matt Forman has returned my call once, and I missed it. Since then he has refused to return any of my calls. WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THIS PLACE? Horrible customer service. Additionally, if you purchase space at this location you had better be willing to have your own cart to haul things in and out of the facility. Though they have four carts ("for your convenience"), they are only accessible if someone happens to be working- which often they are not. I recently visited on a Sunday afternoon at 4, well within their hours of operation. There was a sign on the door that the one employee working was "out." When he finally returned 20 minutes later, there was a line of people out the door, some of whom simply needed to unlock carts. I understand that everyone is entitled to a break, but it is frustrating and ridiculous that they do not have a second employee staffed to relieve the first one. When I complained that it was ridiculous that everyone should have to stand around waiting for someone to show up so that they could access carts, I was told that I should buy one and bring it with me. Why should I have to buy a cart? That was one of the SERVICES I had been told would be a part of my $92 rate....that has now been raised to $112 for NO REASON. If you are too cheap to have a second employee staffed, you need to risk the loss of carts by NOT KEEPING THEM LOCKED. Every time I have visited this location their gates have not been working. Last time I was there I was told by an employee that it had not been working for over a week and they were waiting for someone to fix it. WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THIS PLACE? read more

There are so many public storage places in this area but I am so happy I picked this one. All of the staff is so nice and helpful but Danielle definitely has gone above and beyond to help me. She made sure I understood how the whole process worked and ensured that this part of my moving process went as smooth as possible. After completing the whole registration process & already having a unit assigned to me, last minute I had to change my unit to a larger one. Danielle patiently redid all of the paperwork with me and was so nice about it. Today as I was moving everything into my storage unit, I locked myself out in the gated parking lot and on my last trip I got there a few minutes before the office closed. Danielle immediately helped me get back in and still helped me make sure I had the right equipment to bring my stuff in before they closed the office. I definitely wish she could've been my liaison in this whole moving situation but I am thankful that she works here & has helped me so much. Long story short, I 100% recommend this storage facility. There are two locations in near Hicksville, this is property 29238. This storage unit is a new building with a great staff of three women, Alyssa, Danielle, and Jessica. The staff is friendly and helpful. So much so, that when I stop in I'll often make it a point to chat for a little. While the building itself is new and nice, the layout of the parking lot and security could be much better. Poor design as you have to enter your code three times before accessing your unit. Once to get into the gated entrance, another to enter the building, and lastly to enter the storage unit area. While some may like the extra security measures, I find it to be pain. When you leave the gated area, you'll have to enter your security code once again. It's adjacent to the exit so you have to be positioned facing south for an east exit gate. This is probably the worst design aspect as the exit should have been further down the parking lot allowing better placement of the keypad for your code. Aside from the security which you'll either love or find a bother, as I mentioned the place is very clean and new. It is staffed by a great trio who I've noticed have cultivated great relationships with other customers in addition to myself. read more

I got a good price on a locker there so i went with them. Fast foward a few months and they raise my rent out of the blue. Ive only been with them for about 5 months and i get a rate increase. Seems messed up that I get a good price move all my stuff in and they increase the rate. I was planning to stay till the end of summer but now im getting everything out. I will definitely chose a different storage unit place next time. read more

The moving dollies are way too small and are locked up all the time. You need to get a key from the front desk and make special arrangements for them to leave you a key if you need one after office hours, and you better hope that they don't forget to leave the key, like they did to me :( read more
