Worst customer service, go anywhere else: I am owed a refund of almost $1,000 for two months now. I email them: no replies. I call them: after waiting and waiting and waiting, 15 minutes and counting as I write this review, still no one can properly answer a simple question. Someone has to to speak with her manager, who then has to speak with someone else, etc. Nor can they even do something so simple and obvious, after waiting all this time, as call me back. I must call them back, and start the whole process of eternally waiting for nothing anew. They really need to get their incredibly unprofessional--or, perhaps, willfully incompetent--act together, cause it's starting to look a lot to me like an easy way to steal money from their current/former customers. read more

New management is terrible! Renovations spill debris and dust INSIDE MY LOCKER, and they refuse to process claims in less than 4-6 weeks (while charging monthly and holding stuff hostage). The good reviews were for previous management. I'd avoid this place now. read more

I took My electric motorcycle there to store.. The Agent looked at My bike and recommended a 5×5 room which was going to cost me $142 a month... I paid cash and went to work.. That night when I went to put My bike inside, it didn't fit into this storage that the agent recommended.. The New Agent looked at My bike and recommended a 5×7 and the price went up By $60 more dollars.. I thought it was overpriced because they recommended that I get the insurance because they cannot be held responsible for any breakins/ theft but the insurance cost more money and doesn't cover the cost of My bike... So I decided not to get the storage.. I requested a refund,and I was told By The agent that their policy is not to hand out any Cash, only checks,and that I have to wait for my money to arrive By mail... Now there are no signs posted saying this,and they couldn't provide me with any documentation stating This policy,and since I just paid Cash, Then I didn't see any problem with them returning My money... They called their Boss who had a very nasty attitude that stated that their policy is not to give refunds in cash and that My check Will be mailed to me.. In other words ( That I was out of luck)... I do not recommend this facility... It's overpriced,and they don't guarantee that whatever property you pay them to store there will only be covered if you get their insurance ( more money).. And even though they don't have any signs posted stating their refund policy, they are enforcing this refunds by mail only ( even though I paid cash Right there) they still refused to refund my cash back....I give This storage facility (No Stars) And don't recommend this facility for anyone.... Call before you go by--especially if you are moving. On December 4, the facility was closed with no warning to renters. It was a Sunday. It was only a nuisance for me, but there was a fellow there with an uber full of all his things as he was moving. Another person came up and said that he had phoned Storage Post. He was told there was a district meeting and they closed the facilities. We never got an email warning us of this and there was no explanation on the website. From now on, I will call before I go there. Every time. BTW, I agree with other reviewers that Lynda was lovely to work with. She is no longer there. read more

This place bought out Keepers. Keepers was fantastic. This place is less so. Kind of aggressive. We got slapped w late fees four days after being told in an email that Keepers had sold to them and the automatic payment hadn't transferred. We were asked to sign an agreement back dated several years. I can't tell if it's an awkward beginning or a sign to get out asap. read more

Keepers location is convenient for me. That is really the only reason why I continue to rent out this bare bones unit. Yes, there is a very charming woman at the desk as others have mentioned but that's hardly a perk. It's a true testament to how deprived we are as New Yorkers when we congratulate people for not being awful. We are some low expectation having motherfuckers. So they have a man operated elevator and he's this grouch in a hydraulic mechanic's garage and you see yourself going up through the grates of the different floors and he opens the door and it's hot and non descriptive like sone sort of torture porn maze out of Saw IX. The spaces are what you'd expect--Rectangles where you pay to have your inanimate objects exist. They do not improve in this existence. Sometimes you want to get something out but it is behind a fort of other boxes where you must strategize how you will retrieve your object. A puzzle where you cascade sweat into your eyeballs. And where your shirt gets snagged on the aluminum door. Boxes are degenerate under their moving weight like an exhumed fossil seeing daylight for the first time since God before the seventh day. Oh, DO NOT rent uhauls from here. I tried to once and that was an expensive and excruciating mistake. There were two other people in front of me also picking up their uhaul which never existed because as we were told, they only have one van and suddenly I get a text that my uhaul is actually available in the South fucking Bronx where I almost got robbed once. That was a not fun thing to do. Also they close at eight but what they really mean is they close by seven. But I think if they said they closed at seven they would probably operate as if they closed at six because by seven, you will be scorned and rushed and sweating which usually results in my body being avalanched by 500 pounds of falling boxes. That said, it is otherwise efficient at being a vacant space for you to have your things exist in Manhattan. It will not shape shift or shrink or turn upside down or open up an event horizon. That should suffice for all my low expectation having motherfuckers out there. read more

I've rented at keepers east village nyc since 2004. it used to be great. it no sucks TERRIBLY! tge building was always air conditioned which was good because it has no windows. They have since torn out ALL THE AIRCONDITIONING! it is 90 degrees and 100% humidity in NYC. Meaning it's over 100 on the floors. plus it closes at 8pm and doesn't open till 8:00am so it's not possible to go when it's cool outside. and they are not going to have any air-conditioning until 2024. DONT RENT FROM THEM! read more

The restroom has been out of service for more than 2 weeks--"construction," I was told. There was a chemical toilet on the loading dock for a while, but now it's gone. Is it even legal to deny customers toilet access? This is a great inconvenience to this old lady, to the staff, and I presume to lots of other renters. read more

I reserved a 10 ft truck from here via uhaul.com. I did it 7 days before my move. 1 day before the move date, uhaul called me and said there is no availability here and I have to go to bronx to pick up small cargo van, not a 10 ft. Horrible service. They ruined my move. read more

I must say- the people that work at this Storage Unit are the THE nicest people. Flexible, understanding and super helpful. The place is run very nicely. I have been there for about 7 years and its super convenient for me being one block away. I also order a lot of things online and I do not have a door man or a safe place for delivery. Lived in the east village so picked this location to store an apt with of stuff while moving. Prices for a larger space were better than other options. When you reserve online look for the extra space options because there are actually a lot of different sizes. They will also accept packages for you. Linda was there when I moved in and out and was very helpful. She runs a tight ship, it can get pretty busy and sometimes a little crazy in there. Just be patient, she will take care of you. read more

Keeper's is super conveniently located (for me) in the East Village and because it's down by Avenue D it is easy to drive in and load/unload. There is a great loading area and there is usually plenty of space even for a larger vehicle. Staff is awesome, Lynda, Christine and Gustavo are super helpful and sweet. It is a funny little world when you get up to the units, we all have such small apartments so many people have units here. My unit was illegally entered and evidence was stolen more than once. This could not have been done without the help of the staff. I think Linda was involved. I'm pretty sure she was. Mrs. Christine and I had the pleasure of speaking on the phone, prior to the visit in person, which left me a bit taken aback, in a good way. Her telephone etiquette was superb and her disposition was that of an amiable nature. She was very thorough, providing me with instructions on how to get to the location and tips in regards to what to bring and what to expect when utilizing Keepers Self Storage. My experience with Keeper's is sort of mixed. When comes to the customers service I doubt you will find any better. HOWEVER, please make sure that you are aware of ALL of the policies and procedures. My feeling is that they hope you forget about your storage fees that they say will be returned to you in the mail. There original statement is that it will be returned to you within 2 to 4 weeks. That is NOT the case. It is going on five weeks now and I have yet to receive my deposit. I called the Keeper's facility in Staten Island to know exactly what their policy is. The receptionist states that returning your deposit will take 6 to 9 weeks, while the receptionist in New Jersey states there policy will take 4 to 6 weeks. Don't even try to contact anyone at the coperate office because they never return your calls. Get everything in writing. read more

The facility is nice enough, but they force you to buy their $9/month insurance if you don't have your own, so any price listed on their site will be inflated. If you feel that insurance is unnecessary, too bad. You might think that insurance is part of the cost of doing business for a place that is supposed to protect your belongings, but no.
