Move could not have gone worse. Took them three days to move out of a 2.5 BR apartment. It was supposed to be one day packing, one day moving. The landlord threatened to call the police on them at one point. Only one of the four movers was consistently working the whole time and they had him sitting in the van for half the move trying to avoid a ticket (why they didn't have the way-too-old mover doing this instead is beyond me). The foreman was constantly on the phone with his boss complaining instead of working. Rushed to get boxes into the correct rooms because one of the movers had a second job (non-moving related) to get to and the foreman wanted to get back to his wife. I was offered a paltry partial refund for the experience and billed for all of the extra time. Incredible service! I've heard horror stories of hiring moving companies but after doing research online and reading reviews on Yelp, I felt comfortable with Twin Brothers. I requested a quote 4 days before my preferred move date via Yelp and they immediately responded within 10 minutes and were able to accommodate. After a couple back and forth messages, I got the quote and was surprised at how affordable it was. I also used the Yelp deal ($20 for $50 value). I hired 2 guys for 3 hours. They were up front about the fees asking specific questions like how many flight of stairs. Now, I was moving from a small studio to another studio and had about 15 medium/large boxes plus furniture - not a whole lot of stuff. They also emailed a Certificate of Insurance quickly to meet the building requirements. On move day, they were quick, efficient, and careful. They helped wrap my TV and other furniture to easily transport it down the stairs into the truck. They had a process: one guy wrapping and bringing boxes to edge of stairs, and another guy transporting to truck. After the move, they reviewed the charges and it matched the quote that was given, and they applied the Yelp offer. Great deal! Now, after unpacking I realized I was missing a few pieces of my bed frame. I emailed them, they called immediately, and delivered the items the next day at no charge. Great service! AVOID this mover, they'll NEVER show up. No apologies, no compensation, no credibility and doesn't care about their customers AT ALL. These movers deserve 0 stars. We booked with them a MONTH ahead. On the day of the move, they were supposed to show up at 12pm but when we called they said they'll be late but should arrive before 3. At 2 we got another call saying the truck got into an accident and couldn't come till 5 or 6 pm. We were upset but decided to wait again. And then no one showed up at 6, and we called they said they'll come at 8. At that point it's too late in the day and our building won't let us use the elevator so we rescheduled to the next Monday. The day before Monday we got an email saying they're overbooked and cannot move us (they did offer to reschedule us, again) because we didn't book ahead of time and didn't have priority per their policy. I don't know how this kind of service is acceptable. If our lease had ended the day we scheduled to move we would be homeless because of them. We had to take extra days off and pay a premium to book other movers last minute. Moving is already stressful enough and this company turned it into a completely nightmare. read more

They also don't charge for providing wardrobe boxes and COIs. My movers were Freddie and another gentleman. They were quick, moved fast and didn't waste ANY time. We drove from our apartment to a house 25 mins away. I expected them to take some "extra" time to get to the house, and I was 100% wrong. We moved from a 1 bedroom to a house all less than 4.5 hours, that's including them helping build our bed and travel between location A and location B. Traumatic experience. THEY CANCELLED ON ME LAST MINUTE WITHOUT NOTICE. Movers never showed up on day of my move, and when I called the office, they said they decided to cancel my move -- without notifying me -- even though they'd confirmed it two days before. They texted us to write a review on Yelp one day after the move. Dude, we don't even have Internet yet - give us a moment? Anyway, they were fairly quick and efficient. They arrived 50 minutes after the start of the arrival window, which is not bad.They charged us $155/hour to move a studio apartment's worth of furniture between two elevator buildings, minimum three hours. They took just about three hours. Two of my items were slightly damaged through the move - my couch cushion was not wrapped with cling film, and collected a bunch of dust and got a smear of spackling from the renovating hallways in my new building. Not cool. The topsheet on my box spring has a small hole from friction, even though it was wrapped. They forgot to unload my umbrellas from the truck, and I only discovered this a week later. I probably should have inspected the truck before letting them go, so make sure you do that. They asked us to name their team, and I know we moved with Fred and two guys whose name start with an S - maybe Sam and Sean? I don't recall. Anyway. Demand that your soft items are wrapped. These guys are ok. They can do a COI and all that jazz. They spoke in a foreign language amongst themselves the whole time and seemed to have been discussing the tip while it was handed to them, which is not courteous but didn't affect the move, I suppose. read more

Used Twin Brothers to move apartments last weekend - I'll start with the positive first in that none of my furniture or personal items were damaged with the exception of a lamp which was slightly dented. They had wrapped everything pretty well and also took apart my bed and put it back to together again at the new place. The whole experience started off fine, they had provided the cheapest quote and so that was my main factor in going with them. I had read previous Yelp reviews about others being asked to sit in their truck to avoid a parking ticket and I specifically told the lady on the phone that I would not be doing this. She said they would never ask me to do that and that I'm not even insured to sit in their truck so legally it would not be allowed. Lo and behold, about an hour in Sean (I think) tells me they are struggling with parking, that they've found a spot but could I wait in the truck to help avoid a parking ticket. I told them I wouldn't do this but ended up waiting outside next to the truck in freezing temperatures. The issue was that if a ticket was issued, I would then be responsible for it?! An officer did end up coming by and because they had parked next to a hydrant it was an issue but because I was there to effectively "move the truck" in case of any emergency, he was fine. I had two guys in total who weren't the speediest. A couple of my boxes were just left on the street and when I went to check what was going in, one of the guys was just casually on the phone. I asked him to move a little faster due to the time slot I had to move into the new place. He said he didn't speak English. The other guy who did speak English gave me his number and said to call if there were any issues at all especially if the police came, I called him 8 times whilst I was waiting outside and he never answered. When I told him I'd called him multiple times and asked why he didn't answer he said that he doesn't really use his phone. Overall not the best experience and frustrating at times. All of my stuff is fine but I don't think I'll be using Twin Brothers again. read more

IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS, I WOULD!!! Before moving, I thoroughly researched all affordable options and was confident in the glowing recommendations on yelp for Twin Brothers Movers. Unfortunately, I had an incredibly negative experience with extremely rude movers from this company. It was raining on my move day so I know that can damper things and have taken time before writing this review to make sure it was not emotionally charged, but unfortunately the experience still stands out in my mind as incredibly negative and I will NEVER recommend these movers to anyone. I will credit the movers with having wrapped my furniture properly so nothing was damaged with water, but that is the only thing that I will credit them for. The men working the job were rude, they stopped mid-move to change their clothes in their van, knowing full well that they are paid based on how much time is spent on the job, and rather than wearing the appropriate attire on a rainy day for a move. One of the men was wearing dress shoes rather than anything practical for a moving day. They also REFUSED to carry my sofa up to my apartment in my new building and literally left it in the hallway and threw our tip money on the floor. It was absolutely disgusting. I recently moved from a studio to 1 bed apartment within Manhattan. When researching, trusty Yelp put them towards the top of the list. I called 5 different (I'm sure excellent) moving companies with similar high ratings, but Twin Brothers provided the cheapest quote by far. Plus, I liked that they gave me a flat per-hour rate, rather than charging based on item inventory. The entire process was very smooth, from calling to request a quote (which was emailed promptly), calling back to schedule the move (also a prompt email confirmation), and then completing the actual move. Sarah and Kevin assisted me over the phone and were very friendly. Sarah even encouraged me to purchase the Yelp deal available at the time, which I did! (And by the way, there were zero issues redeeming it with the movers.) The moving gentlemen (unfortunately, I don't remember their names) gave me a call 45 minutes before their arrival and were there promptly at the beginning of my scheduled window. I had requested only 2 movers, since I was just moving a studio's worth of belongings, but 3 came and they honored the original quote price with no issue. Added bonus: it took less time with 3 guys! They were super efficient bringing the boxes down and wrapping up the furniture and came completely prepared. Unloading also went very smoothly. All in all, they took just under 3 hours to do the full job. I also liked that the receipt included an itemized break down of the time they spent loading, driving, and unloading. In summary: I would highly recommend Twin Brothers and will definitely use them for any future moves. They were cheap and efficient (I got charged under $100/hour). Tips for prospective customers: - They have a 3 hour minimum - The total will be cheaper if you pay in cash, though you can also use a credit card (they quoted me at an extra $10/hour for card) - You are responsible for truck parking meters (wasn't a big deal for my locations, but definitely look it up beforehand) - They will prorate the total cost to every 15 minutes if you go over the minimum time - They will not charge extra to move on Saturdays/weekends/in the morning (unlike some other companies) - There is a $50 deposit when you schedule your job, which will get applied to the total cost - They bring a bunch of wardrobe boxes for you to use and it's included in the price read more

What a great decision I made to hire them. They were very efficient and professional. I was a bit afraid after being ripped off by other companies that go by the hour but they finished right around the 3 hour mark which is the minimum. They even beat me to NJ! Everything was moved in perfect condition besides a suitcase which broke while being packed in the truck. In their defense it was about time it broke and there were dumbbells in the bottom of it so it might of had it coming. Also, I was not told about the toll charge until after they arrived. Nothing I can really do about that and I understand why they add it but the customer service rep should state that it will be added before booking. First Le me say that these guys are great. They do the job well and they do it fast. I recently moved from a 5 floor walk up to a 4th floor walk up. I had a lot of small boxes so that it wasn't too heavy for the movers and probably about 6 large pieces of furniture altogether. Most of it was IKEA and then a steel frame bed. When I booked twin movers, I told the representative that I lived in a walk up. I was very specific about all the items I had etc. even when I had more boxes, I did a follow up call and made sure to give as much information as I could. Then comes the day of the move. I was equipped with water and snacks for the movers and was ready to help with the move. For the first part, I was helpful, I ran up and down the stairs as much as the movers. The 2nd part, I couldn't help only because I was asked to sit in the truck to avoid a ticket. My only gripe with these movers was the amount of "comments" I kept hearing about how I lived in a walk up building. I know. I'm aware. I made sure to tell the people that booked my move to please let the movers know. I prepared snacks for the hard work. And I tipped after as well. But as a customer, I DO NOT need to be subjected to the comments every time you go up and down the stairs. It's manhattan. GET OVER IT! This is for all the women out there. I will not put up with hear your (the movers), complaints about the stairs when I'm paying for the service, I went out of my way to make snacks and provide water, and I tipped each of you. read more

Fred and his team were the best I've ever had. They moved me and my boyfriend (separately) into our new house and we both had an ideal experience. They were so quick, I couldn't believe it! And careful with my belongings as well, nothing broken chipped or scratched. They came prepared with all the tools and materials needed, and were super efficient. We had dinner plans after the move and I still can't believe how smooth the whole move went. I dropped by to see what was going on and most of the boxes had already been moved into the moving truck. The movers arrived in time and were extremely fast. They disassembled our bed and sofa and reassembled it again in the new apartment. As almost all moving companies this company has a minimum of 3 hours charge. Even though the move took slightly longer, they only charged us 3 hours! We got quotes from 5 different companies and the final price we had to pay for twin brothers movers was 200 dollars below the second cheapest quote we got! Had 3 movers come to assist my 2 bedroom apartment move. Most of my furniture pieces are glass so they spent majority of their time wrapping things. Although there was three movers only one person was wrapping things up and the other 2 were milking the clock; one of the employees was talking outside on his phone for over 30 min. I saw him while I was moving my more important pieces- good to know you can work harder than whatever kid they randomly send to you. Unprofessional to say the least, after loading all of my items onto the truck (initially they said they could fit everything- ended up leaving a room full of items behind to haul over myself). Upon LATE arrival (the kids decided to make a stop and took 45 minutes for a 10 minute drive) the only piece of furniture they were able to properly put together was my bed. They managed to break my vanity dressers drawers ($1500 vanity set) and a $400 led mirror. Very unprofessional and disappointing- wish I would have stuck to a bigger more reputable company so I could have gotten fully reimbursed for the lack of training they clearly give their employees. I'm now out a vanity, large mirror and $500 for the move. Hope this can help someone that's looking to use this company, and if you still decide to make sure that you check all of your furniture before paying. read more
