Best moving experience I've had in moving in NYC and multiple cross-country moves. -- this time moving from 3rd-story walk up with wonky stairs. Night and day experience from move into the same building with a big name company during the summer. The prior company had to partially dismantle the stairwell to get things into the building and the end cost was twice as high. Moving from the same brownstone to an elevator building with detailed rules and regulations, this time in mid-winter-- even with sub-zero temperatures, 2-foot snowbanks and a disorganized client, JP Urban was wonderful. the process of planning the move and arranging the advance paperwork with JP was seamless. This has been my best moving experience in NYC. I'm so happy that I finally found movers that actually are very careful and diligent in moving. In every other move, I've come out with damaged items but not with JP Urban Moving. I will definitely recommend to my friends. One thing I will note is that they start the time when they are parking the truck. And I calculated the time based on when they rang my doorbell. There was a 30 min difference which was a discrepancy but I didn't fight it. I also ran out to get the team bottled waters since it didn't look like they had any. Overall, good experience. read more

My wife and I recently moved from Jackson Heights, Queens (NYC) to Poughkeepsie. JP Urban Moving was recommended by a good friend and I gotta say, the process was very friendly and seamless from the get-go. They have terrific communication and worked with us when we had to delay the move from Dec 2024 to Jan 2025. We packed our 2BR and Miguel's team of four showed up earlier than the 9am start time. They hit the ground running and it was like a whirlwind, they worked so fast and so diligently. All with a terrific attitude and smile throughout the day and into the evening when they finished up in Poughkeepsie after 7pm. Their pricing is totally fair, and we have lined them up for further moves (next one later in the year moving our studio from DUMBO, Brooklyn, up to Newburgh, NY). Moving out of Brooklyn is always daunting, and it's been 7 years since my last move so I was on the market for new movers. I did some research and compared quotes, ultimately went with JP because their forms were easy to fill out, their team responsive, and their prices fair. They scheduled with me quickly, checked in about COIs, and gave me a ton of information to help me prep for my move. They confirmed the move date and time a few times in the lead up which gave me a lot of confidence in JP. On moving day, they showed up exactly on time. It was a team of 4 guys led by Axel, the team leader, who was extremely communicative, friendly, and organized. He asked me questions at every stage to make sure they were following whatever plan I had in my head. They carefully deconstructed, wrapped, and moved all of my furniture, art, electronics - it was incredible to watch. Such an organized and professional team. They arrived at the next location on Long Island (about a 1 hour drive away) right on time. They were quick and courteous unloading the truck and were happy to help removing any items that were leaving the Long Island house. That was a HUGE help as we were getting rid of a bed and a heavy treadmill - they easily walked those items right out for us. I was dreading this move, and JP Urban Moving, Axel and the team made it so smooth. We were done in 6.25 hours and I saved 5% by paying cash. Really happy I went with JP for my move. Took about 3 hrs. Team led by Sal was very nice and careful with my things. Made sure to tape anything that wasn't coming with and was staying with my roommate. Wrapped items well and brought backup boxes which helped with some past minute items I had forgotten about. Reason I went with them in the first place is that the site was prob the easiest to navigate. The item entry form was straightforward. I could update easily and put in specific measurements. I moved from NYC to the midwest. I went with JP Urban Moving on the recommendation of a neighbor. I knew it was going to go great when the guys who showed up were the actual guys in the pictures on their website which I thought were just stock photos. lol. There were a couple hiccups: I had more stuff than I estimated and my building made us use a difficult to navigate ramp. The guys from JP didn't complain and didn't overcharge me. When the truck showed up at my new place 2 days later, it was the same guys unloading. Everything made it in perfect shape, and they put all my stuff where I requested. They broke the 6-foot marble dresser top into 3 pieces (they also "lost" its wall mirror and broke the glass tops to 2 small tables). We are suing them. We hired JP URBAN MOVING to transport the broken marble top to the repair facility. The movers were professional, on-time and efficient - and aghast at what Dumbo had done. They treated my poor marble top with great care. We hired them to take it to the facility, and then to return it to us once it was miraculously repaired. Moving is always the biggest pain in the butt and I'm always stressed out leading up to it. I decided that we were going to use a moving company this time around. After doing a ton of research and getting more quotes than I could count, I decided to go with JP. Our move was a 2 BR in Brooklyn, 1 stop in Morris Plains NJ to pick up some more furniture, and finally to Weehawken NJ. The entire duration of the move was a little less than 6 hours, including the 1.5 hours travel time, talk about efficient! I found a September moving special on their website for $99 an hour for 3 guys, and they honored that price. Our total move came out to about $1k after the moving, travel time, supplies, and tipping each of the guys, which was actually less than I thought it would come out to. Now onto the actual work. I couldn't be more impressed with how quickly and how well they packed all of our furniture. Nothing was damaged upon arrival, even all the more delicate/fragile items. They were incredibly attentive and organized, they communicated with me the entire time, and the dispatcher checked in with me throughout the trip to make sure we were on schedule and everything was going smoothly. 100% would use them again for my next move, couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. read more

Move from UES to Brooklyn, I picked JP Urban after comparing with 2 other providers - they were the best both in price and friendly communication. Good communication throughout the whole process, video walkthrough before estimate, and movers were very good and organized. I had a range of things from a few large and very heavy furniture which they managed to carry up stairs and into my new home (I wasn't sure it was doable but they got it done), large to small artwork, and delicate glasses. Mostly unpacked now and so far nothing broken:) Good attention to detail and care - I had forgotten to throw away a bouquet of dried flowers in a glass vase and they actually packed those in a way that the flowers were perfectly intact when I unpacked them, which to me was above and beyond. The only downside was the move took a couple hours longer than the estimate, mostly due to heavy objects I guess, but I had been guaranteed a max price which was honored so I only "lost" a little time while price was fixed. Also good to know, had I been charged based on actual hours it still would have come in lower than competitors. I would absolutely use JP Urban again. read more

Funny, I can't remember who they were. BUT I will never forget JP URBAN MOVING. We are in our mid 50's. March 2019, after 12 years, we moved house with our "20 something" sons. JP UrbanMoving was a Godsend during a particularly stressful time in our lives. John took my initial call, and offered to come to our apartment to survey what we were moving, and what we weren't moving. It was complicated to me, but he confidently assessed our situation, and put me at ease. In fact, on his way to our first meeting, John texted me, and included a friendly emoticon to let me know he had left the subway and was walking to our apartment! He made me smile, and I was comfortable with him. John arrived, greeted me with a firm handshake and a friendly smile. I walked him through our Carroll Gardens duplex, pointing out what we were moving, and what we were not moving. He took notes and photos, and he wasn't the least bit fazed. I was a wreck. His disposition was comforting. He said he would prepare an estimate, get it to me over the weekend, and he did. John also encouraged me to get estimates from 3 other moving companies. I tried. I didn't like the way I was treated on the phone when I asked another local, bin providing, green movers to come and do an onsite assessment, so I ended my search. Seriously, I didn't have the emotional energy to collect additional estimates for this move. End of the day, JP Urban Moving's estimate was WAY lower than I expected, and that was good enough for me. I had a good feeling about John's company, and I trusted him. AND THEY BROUGHT ME BINS!!! Reusable bins that I didn't have to construct and tape up, and then unpack, break down and throw out, like card board boxes! OMG! So exciting...SERIOUSLY! And then... I needed MORE bins, so JP URBAN MOVING happily brought us MORE bins! WOW! Money, time and effort saved.Wow Wow Wow! The day of the move... We were all packed up... well, mostly. You know how that goes. I was freaking out. Chris and John dispatched, and stayed in communication, by group text with us, and our onsite mover foreman Manuel and his team. OMG! I love communication and follow up! Be still my heart! MANUEL and his TEAM arrived and took over with confidence and efficiency. I was immediately at ease. The truck was loaded quickly. 12 years, and great angst, were behind us. We drove to meet the movers at our new home, about 8 miles away. Manuel wanted to stop and buy his guys coffee. I thought they should stop for lunch! When we got to the new apartment, Manuel and his TEAM were already waiting for us. I'm sorry we kept you guys waiting! The crew unpacked with the same energy, care, respect and efficiency. I watched them unload the truck from my upstairs window. The guys handed off the bins to one another in relay fashion. Wow! That was fast! What great team work! They related to each other as the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels do during synchronized flight maneuvers. Our mover guys deftly read my labels, and placed each bin and piece of furniture where I wanted it to go. If they weren't certain about where or how I wanted something placed, they patiently and respectfully asked and waited for my clarification. They carried my husband's Steinway Piano upstairs, with great care, patience, and would you believe humor? This could have been so stressful and frustrating, but our team from JP URBAN MOVING slowly and carefully lifted the piano up, stair by stair, and gleefully chuckled during the process. :))) They made me smile, big time! This was an arduous task which freaked me out, and our guys were actually having a good time working so hard together! I fell even deeper in love with them! The move was completed in less time than John originally estimated! There were no extra charges. No surprises. In fact, we owed less than originally estimated for the BEST MOVE EXPERIENCE OF OUR LIVES! When does that ever happen? Perfection! I received bins prior to the move (a wonderful service) & as is common, was a little shocked at the amount of belongings I had accumulated. Every time I looked at the pile, I cringed at the thought of the stairs in my walk-up. But Felipe and crew? They handled it like it was NOTHING! AND... with a smile!
