DO NOT HIRE GREAT MOVERS -- UNPROFESSIONAL, CARELESS, AND DISHONEST On October 30, 2025, I hired Great Movers to remove and store heavy items from my property. Three movers arrived, led by a foreman named Steve. They were instructed to place the sofa and love seat in a designated dumpster area. During the move, the team used our bathroom while working in the bedroom. Shortly after they left, my daughter arrived home and immediately realized that her gold, diamond, and pink sapphire necklace -- a deeply sentimental graduation gift she'd worn almost daily for three years -- was missing. It had been safely in the bedroom that morning, and she hadn't worn it that day due to her outfit choice. We searched thoroughly. It was gone. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I texted Steve immediately and asked for his manager's contact information. When he called back, I explained what happened. His first response was dismissive: "Great Movers isn't responsible for stolen items." No empathy, no concern, no sense of accountability.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Over the next three days, I called the company multiple times and left messages for management (Saad or anyone in charge) -- not a single call was returned. Zero acknowledgment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As if that wasn't enough, I then received a call from building management saying the movers had dumped my furniture next to a pizza shop's dumpster, upsetting the business owner. I had clearly told them to place the items inside the designated dumpster area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called again, the dispatcher promised to contact Steve. Steve later claimed I "never said anything" about a designated area -- an outright lie.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He finally returned to move the furniture to the proper spot, but even then, he set it next to the dumpster until I told him to put it inside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I again brought up the stolen necklace, he was cold, sarcastic, and emotionless. I told him I would be filing a police report and that if the necklace was returned, there would be no questions asked. His only reply was to ask "where it was located."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is now November 5, and I have still received no response from Great Movers management.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This experience has been deeply upsetting, not only because of the stolen jewelry and unprofessional conduct, but also because of the company's complete lack of integrity, accountability, and compassion. I had a pretty good experience with Great Movers and would definitely recommend them. I think I would hire them again for a move, but not necessarily for the pre-move packing service. On the business side, Adam and Saad were both extremely professional and excellent communicators. A lot of objects were randomly scattered throughout different boxes, and sometimes excessive amounts of packing paper added a lot of unnecessary bulk and boxes. They asked to throw away many objects that I wanted to keep, boxed up a lot of junk, and if not for my insistence and vigilance, would have left behind many things like shelves, wires, curtain rods, and art. While unpacking I had trouble locating screws or other such parts associated to my items, due to them being either left behind or put in a different box. On moving day Ola and his crew worked very quickly and efficiently. They set up a relay that got them in and out of my building in just a couple hours. They disassembled and reassembled my furniture with ease. They followed instructions about where everything should go, and handled every box and piece of furniture carefully. Altogether great movers, but if you hire them to pack you will need to have the time to meticulously sort/prepare your items in advance and carefully monitor the packing process. read more

Bek and his team helped us move into our new home. They are very hard-working people and did a great job with moving everything and they stayed patient going into overtime. I recommend them for moving. One recommendation I have for them in terms of improvement is to double check everything and pick up garbage at the very end. There was a lot of garbage left everywhere from packing and because of that I had a long cleanup to come back to and some spots, they did not check properly and left things behind. This absolutely was not a great move and I would not recommend this company. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I spoke to several moving companies and ultimately decided on this company based on the price quoted and the responsiveness of the sales person that I spoke to originally.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]First, the CIO that was required for my new building had to be corrected multiple times although an example was provided. The sales person told me it would be provided by a specific date and I then had to follow up more than once to receive it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I then had to pay additional for the second COI although I told the person originally that I would need a COI for both buildings. On the day of the move the move took approximately 9 hours. I was told it would take 4 based on the items that I had. Not only did the move take double the time the cost that I was quoted was then doubled for the final cost. I had to negotiate with the person whom was coordinating the day of the move and explain to them the price I was quoted and the disbelief I was experiencing based on the price now doubling. He took off $100 which demonstrated to me that the pricing was arbitrary. He kept repeating that the movers were professional and doing their job. That to me is the expected service that the movers are professional and being careful with the items. Ultimately, when the movers arrived to my new building they decided that they did not want to take my dining room table upstairs nor my box spring because they would have to take it up the stairs and not the elevator. They said they would have to leave it downstairs because at this time I had already paid for the service. Ultimately, one of the movers brought the table and the box spring up the stairs by himself because the other movers were so unprofessional and were going to leave my furniture in the basement. I gave him the entire tip I was originally going to give to the movers. I would never recommend this moving company as the cost was not what I bargained for and many of my pieces of furniture were damaged. Previously had a great experience with Great Movers, but can't say the same for my recent move. 1. Crew was slow and had no sense of urgency. 2. Crew complained a lot about how heavy everything was (isn't this your job???) 3. They ignored our instructions on how to handle the sofa. Since we have a large sofa, we told them to remove the legs to make the move faster. They refused to do so and ended up taking an extra hour before finally removing the legs. Keep in mind this company charges you by the hour so this added more cost. 4. Our sofa ended up with scuffs and our bookshelf was not even protected so it got scratched up. 5. I asked for 6 wardrobe boxes and confirmed it would be complimentary with the salesman, but the movers said they would charge for more than 3. 6. They told us that one of us to sit in the truck to watch it. Not sure why. 7. They consistently asked for more tips towards the end of the move. Very unprofessional, especially after all of the issues above. I would not recommend Great again based on my recent experience. Really love that the movers are wearing masks, using sanitizer, and are respectful of our belongings, walls, and floors. The team with Dmitry made every cent worth it. They were able to easily navigate hallways, elevators, people traffic and everything in between. They navigated a difficult parking situation at our destination point with grace and understanding. I highly recommend this company! I used them in December of 2020 and couldn't have been more pleased with the service. I moved on the first of the month which is obviously the busiest day of the month for a moving company. My movers were running a little behind schedule that day, but called me to keep me posted on their progress. They were extremely professional and apologetic. When they did arrive to my apartment, the three movers worked ESPECIALLY hard to get everything done in a timely manner . I couldn't believe how quickly they worked! They were also very careful with my possessions and even wrapped things I didn't properly wrap myself. On top of that, they were incredibly friendly and polite. The movers also did a great job of getting my furniture up my new three story walkup. I live in a building with a NARROW stairwell, and despite the challenge, the men were able to complete the job without complaint. I have actually noticed some of my neighbors' movers having a much bigger issue on the stairs, which is what prompted me to write this review lol. I feel bad that I don't remember the names of the three gentlemen who helped me, because they did such a great job and I'd like to give them recognition. I never write reviews, but in this case I need too. I hired this company for an April 17th 2024 local move. I had a storage unit full of boxes no furnture. My house I sold and was moving into a new home, so I got rid of most furniture. The mover moved bothe the house and storage. They assured me all items would fit in the truck. It took me three months to unpack all items in my new house and noticed several boxes were missing. I contacted the storage unit ( they video all actions) they said boxes were left near the dumpster. This review is so very overdue. After calling and getting quotes from way too many moving companies, we went with NY Great Movers. And they were amazing. Like, I'm never moving with anyone else again amazing. We had a very convoluted move, but they were with us every step of the way. We moved from the fourth floor of a four-story walk-up in October 2020. I was so nervous. I hate moving. They arrived on time. Texted their ETA in advance so we weren't just sitting around. Their truck was the cleanest goddamned moving truck I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. As soon as I saw that, I was like... oh. Oh, these people take this very seriously. We booked three guys. Four guys showed up. The fourth was clearly a friend helping out (no uniform, the rest were in uniform) but, hey, that's a lot of stairs, bring your friends. Everyone was super friendly and professional. And, at the end, when all the boxes were tallied up, the head guy was like "we quoted you for ~50 boxes but we only used 30, so I'm going to let them know" and they took the unused boxes off the final bill. But we're not done there. We were putting all of our stuff in storage with NYC Great Movers, as we were moving into a furnished place nearby. So they were done for the day BUT we had called like two days before asking if they could take a thing that was way too heavy for us to carry to the new place by ourselves and they were like, hey, no prob. $50. And so they dropped the thing off on their way to taking our stuff to their storage. FAST-FORWARD May 2021, we're done with the furnished place, we're moving into a new apartment. I call NYC Great Movers and say, hey, we need our stuff. They give me a quote, it's great, we set the delivery up. Three weeks later, my husband (who GREATLY overestimated our ability to walk the stuff we took to the furnished place to our new place a mile away) was like, "hey, can we have Great Movers box up all this crap and deliver it with the rest of our stuff that's in storage?" So I call Great Movers and they added onto the quote like $400 to box up the rest of our stuff and move it same day. Once more, they text with their ETA, they show up on time. Only three guys. Everyone is super friendly, wearing their masks, the truck is still clean (see other pictures), the whole box up is done in an hour and a half, they take the truck to the new place, get our stuff out and ready to take upstairs (another four-floor walk-up, sorry again dudes). Without asking, they don't block the building entrance. Set it up all nice and clean (see pic again). And then they set up a chain for the three of them to carry everyone upstairs so ONE GUY is putting the boxes into our new place and because it's the same guy, he knows where everything is and where everything is supposed to go and by the time it's all up, it's perfect. They did this all so fast that they ended two hours before our quoted time was up, so the head guy found me and said, hey, we're done but you have time, do you want us to assemble some furniture or whatever? And I said yes and they assembled the stuff and left. No garbage on the floor, no trash in the building hallway, no damage to walls, and if they used the bathroom, they flushed (shocking for movers, in my experience). In the weeks that followed, we slowly unpacked. And, I kid you not, throughout both moves, down four flights of stairs, six months of storage, and up another four flights of stairs--NOT A SINGLE THING WAS BROKEN. I don't even know how that's possible. So, yes, top-tier movers. My only real complaint (which might have been resolved by now, as it seemed like they were working on it) is that the invoice and payment system for the monthly storage charges kept changing and was super iffy. Sometimes I wouldn't get invoices and sometimes I would, sometimes it would auto-bill and sometimes it wouldn't, so I had to keep checking. The last system forced me to save my credit card info, which I really don't like, security-wise. But for that being my only issue from this multi-step move? Gold. These guys are gold. read more

I recently hired Great Movers for a long distance move from Connecticut to South Carolina. The service they provide is top notch. Out of all the other movers I requested quotes from- Great Movers gave me the lowest quote. Before my moving day I was contacted by AK, the team leader for my move. He gave me the arrival window and made sure to confirm my address as well as any last minute additions to my moving inventory. When moving day came, AK and his team showed up on time and got right to work. They wrapped up my furniture , disassembled anything that needed it and loaded everything onto their truck within 2 hours (it was a 2 bedroom townhouse for reference) AK kept me posted on his progress down to South Carolina and arrived at the agreed upon day/time. The drop off was even faster than the pickup. All my belongings arrived intact and the team also took the time to reassemble the furniture. Hired Great Movers for a residential move. On moving into our new house, they broke a baluster on our stairs. Team lead send to send him the photos and to email the office to resolve. After contacting the office, they forwarded me to their insurance company who have refused to refund us the cost of fixing the baluster ($185). They claim they have no liability if they damage your house. I have tried disputing this with no luck and the office is of zero help BEWARE - I would not book with this company again due to their poor customer service and refusal to pay for the damage they did to my residence. read more

Working with Great Movers was just ok. The movers were fast and kind, but overall really didn't take care with my items. They didn't wrap multiple large mirrors, pictures, etc. and just moved them by hand. They also didn't wrap glass and metal side tables, opting to tape the glass down to the metal and move them by hand. Those all arrived unblemished so that's okay, but I was definitely surprised to see the lack of protection used for my items, especially in contrast to past moves where they were always wrapped. I was charged for packing material based on the list of my items I provided and it was verbally discussed on the phone that these packing materials were to be used for items like mirrors, pictures, etc. Unfortunately, with wrapped items, they didn't take much care with unwrapping them. They used exacto knives to remove the tape/blanket covers and just slashed through the bottom black linen (apparently these are called "cambric dust cover") on both a West Elm couch and beloved vintage chair of mine. It's a shame because, again, these items had been moved without issue in past, and I don't see why in the last stretch they chose to become careless with someone else's belongings. These damages are not visible, but overall affect the longevity of pieces that I love and that were financial investments. Some of my wrapped items also arrived with various new nicks in them (i.e. my desk). I'm not sure if certain items hit walls/doors because, since the 3-person team didn't have anyone watching the open truck on a busy street, I opted to stay down there and watch my belongings. The icing on the cake is I received countless follow ups as we were planning the move in addition to requests to rate my experience after the fact. Once I submitted a 2 star rating, Great Movers went completely silent. I tipped very generously (25%). I wish I had seen these damages in advance as I would have been much more discretionary with compensation. read more

Using NYC Great Movers for our moven on 6/25 from Brooklyn NY to Clifton NJ was the best choice we made. Our move was a success! The movers were experienced, professional and polite and made the whole move seem effortless. We had a lot of furniture on 2 levels and things that we had not packed yet. They took care of everything and made everything fit into the truck. When they arrived at the new house they moved all of the boxes and furniture in according to where we wanted them placed and setup the beds. Best moving company I have hired! I've moved 3 times in NY and used NYC great movers twice. I should have used them all three times because the one time I didn't, I had a horrible experience. From the time of requesting a quote to scheduling the move, Saad is quick a communicating and made the process smooth and easy. Their Quote was very transparent and fair. It was also the lowest quote when I cross checked with other moving companies. A few had an initial lower quote but after the quoted time window they would charge additional costs per 1/2 hour which adds up! The mover team with Sayid was great too. The three of them were very timely, efficient and also caring. They made sure the furniture was being wrapped properly and genuinely cared for my belongings and the safety of everything during the move. Sayid were also very communicative via text prior to the move. They also took the time to help me put together the sofa, and cleaned up after. One of my first other prices was damaged by the previous movers and they went out of their way to fix the furniture piece for me. They prefer cash, credit is with an extra charge. They arrived on time, were very polite and understanding of everything that needed to be moved, and wrapped up all the furniture and bedding very well. Yeah these guys are great. We got the recommendation from some friends. They gave us the lowest estimate. They quoted us 800 while everyone was 1-1.5k. Our timing was tight, our original place and our new place had specific timing slots. I was stressed af, but then the guys showed up half an hour early! It was great! If you're in a time crunch, (obviously) pack up everything you can for the most part. It'll help them move quicker. But seriously, they are speedy devils. Even with their wickedly good packing style, they truly shined with their unpacking style. Again, moved quickly. Really respectful of my items and asked where to place things. I never expected them to actually place items in specific places. They basically set up my house for me! So stress-free! They accidentally nipped my wall, and were really apologetic. Don't look any further! GREAT price & great service, they live up to their name "Great Moving!" I found Great Moving on Yelp. I reached out with our building requirements- a COI, workers comp insurance, and a move to be completed before 5 pm. After emailing back and forth a couple times we jumped on a quick call to discuss our needs. They were totally understanding, knew exactly what was needed, and scheduled our move to start early to ensure we would be within the building moving hours. I immediately felt at ease with them. A few days before the move they followed up to confirm/finalize all the details. They arrived 10 minutes early with a team of 4. I did a walk through with Mike and the guys got started right at 8 a.m.. The crew were in beast mode lugging our stuff down the stairs in a flash of an eye. They wrapped and ensured all our belongings got out and in safe and sound. They arrived at the new building and quickly started unpacking the truck, unwrapping the furniture, placed it where it should be, assembling the tv, and they took all their trash with them. From start to finish (including one 3 story walk-up) they finished our move 15 minutes over the estimated time. They were quick, courteous, and nothing but helpful. WELL EARNED UPDATE: Though it was not an intended byproduct of my initial review, Saad was true to form and showed extreme professionalism by proactively reaching out to speak further about my experience. It was truly great speaking with Saad on the phone. It is clear that he is very passionate about what he does, and focuses on not only customer satisfaction but the continued skill development of NGM movers. Saad took complete ownership for the issues I experienced, and encouraged me to reach out in the moment if I work with them again and encounter any issues so he can correct the matter on the spot, as the move is taking place. He even went as far as to offer himself as a direct contact for my future booking needs, and to thank me for my post since he considers these and all reviews to be crucial to their continued growth as a company. Folks? If that isn't the old school, white glove service which can be so hard to find nowadays, I don't know what it is. No doubt that I will be back the next time I have a move need, and give NGM WoM support every chance I get. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- First and foremost I really want to support Saad and his guys as best I can. Saad is a great communicator, his pricing is very fair and competitive (including only charging $50/item for his team to fully breakdown two large wooden furniture items and leave in the trash area of the building I was moving out of), and the ops side is being run professionally. And his guys are showing up to help people during a time when I would consider them to be frontline essential workers (#respect). It is for those reasons that I have been sitting on this review for almost three weeks to make sure I was being supportive, honest and fair. The lead team member assigned to my move texted me the evening before to confirm arrival time. The 3-man team showed up almost to the minute day-of. The lead guy was the embodiment of professionalism, courtesy, understanding, patience and efficiency from start to finish. He worked diligently to lead the team and make sure I was kept informed and satisfied throughout the entire process. The other two guys were very hard workers. However, neither consistently wore a mask (the lead guy wore one at all times, one of the other guys alternated mask on / mask off, and one just wasn't having it). I completely understand a mask adds to the difficulty of doing such strenuous work. And, fairly, their site says the guys wear masks according to availability. Still, this is basic COVID protocol for all customer-facing people. So it didn't sit well with me, especially since I made a point to let the lead guy know I had been fully vaxed but wasn't out of the 6-week full efficacy window and that my friend watching the van was still awaiting her second shot. This was the largest factor impacting my 3-vs-4 star rating. Where it got more tricky was with the checks and balances. To their full credit, the guys could have charged me extra for having more bags than the contract allowed (they did not), they sided with me when there was a discrepancy about which floor I was on in one building, the estimate Saad gave me upon booking was the exact final price they charged (without tacking on a bunch of ad hoc fees), and the upcharge for going over the estimated time was very fair. However, when I started to unpack I found that multiple items (furniture and general belongings) were broken, ripped or otherwise damaged. Also, they did not fully break down the two items I paid extra to have dismantled and disposed of. And this was after I communicated very clearly that the items had to be fully broken down to avoid the building being fined (a cost which would have been passed on to me). Even though I didn't get a portion of the service for which I paid, I didn't report any of this to Saad since 1), the guys did me some solids, 2) I lucked out with Sanitation taking the items and not issuing a fine, and 3) so far I've lucked out and the only broken/damaged items I've found are ones I can easily replace + one furniture item I only had them move because my new one is on back order (had these been more valuable items or the only option I had for furniture, it would have been a different story. Though has to be noted when it comes to a moving company review). To Saad's credit, I have no doubt he would have handled things very fairly and professionally if I had felt a need to place a claim. On their way out, all three gentleman accepted the individual cash tips I handled them appreciatively and with proper discretion (read: they didn't count it in front of me and seemed to trust that I gave them 20% each - rather than dividing that percentage among them - out of respect for their work and assistance). We just used Great Moving for a move in Brooklyn. It was very hot out and we moved into a 5th floor walkup. Bek was the lead person on the move and worked quickly to assess our move and get started. We had more moving bags than boxes which was harder to move but the whole crew just dived right in. They all worked very hard and got our entire move done in 4 hours for a 3 bedroom apartment. Nothing was broken and they tried hard to put the right things in the right bedrooms at the new place. I got several quotes and theirs was the best and included 3 movers rather than the standard 2. These were the best movers I've ever worked with, by far. From the first interaction with Saad getting and revising quotes on my somewhat complicated 2-part move, to Danny and his team packing and moving me out of Brooklyn and into a new place upstate, they were all competent, respectful and incredibly efficient. They made what is normally a very stressful event totally easy (for me) and I feel they are worth every penny. Can't stress enough how happy I am with NYC Great Movers, especially Danny + team and Saad. I would use them again in a second. A few specifics: 1.) I researched and got quotes from a number of companies and I felt they had the best and most realistic quote and the most responsive/competent back office team. 2.) None of my items broke in the process! 3.) They uninstalled some curtains and shelves from the apt. I was moving out of which was super helpful. 4.) They took apart my bed to make it fit into the new place up a narrow flight of stairs, and put it back together in the bedroom (+$50 but no problem there) 5.) Put together my TV / TV stand 6.) Communication was always reassuring, clear and respectful. I really appreciated that. 7.) They are SO FAST!!!! (But careful with your stuff).
