I chose Intense Movers for my move because everyone on Reddit raved about them. I wish I hadn't listened to them. I did think it was a bit strange that everything was done via email and there's really no other way of contacting them. That said, they were extremely responsive to email, which was fine. The movers themselves were personable and worked efficiently throughout the process, which I appreciated. Beyond that - there were issues. Firstly, the team arrived about 20 minutes late. I did appreciate the heads-up text, but on one of the most stressful days of your life, it's worth noting - especially as it was early in the morning. More importantly, I was under the impression that loading the truck was part of the service I hired Intense Movers to provide. Nope. Instead, that responsibility was completely handed off to my partner, who stayed with the truck while the movers brought items down for him to load. There was no discussion about this. In fact, it was initially suggested that I use only 2 movers but I requested another to be more efficient. I didn't realize that they assumed my partner was an unpaid 4th. Items with "this side up" stickers were completely disregarded. They brought everything down however they wanted to and handed them off to my partner however was most convenient for them. Also, a couple of guys who were not part of the moving team entered my apartment unannounced, to say hello to the movers. They did not clearly identify themselves, though it seemed like they may have been affiliated with the company. Regardless, having strangers invite themselves into my apartment during the move was pretty inappropriate. Lastly, when it came time for payment, you can only pay by cash or Zelle - which, to me, is sketchy AF. I had planned to send it via Zelle to their company account as instructed. However, the lead mover was insistent that I send the payment directly to him instead, saying he needed to pay his workers immediately. He was so insistent about it that it made me feel really uneasy. In the end, if I could do it all over - I definitely would have chosen someone else who was more professional. read more

I found out about intense movers from quick google search, and also read up on Reddit about them. Nothing but good things were said. Shot them a quick email with a very basic list of things that had to be moved along with few things that had to be disassembled like tv wall mounts and bed frames. I usually hate emailing companies for quotes as there tends to always be a delay in response. But intense movers were "intense" with the speed of their response times. Sometimes within minutes! On reviews I did read that their pricing was extremely good and it almost felt like one of those "too good to be true" moments. Shoutout first of all to the office team for their professional responses and turnaround times and their accuracy. I did end up having to send back edited list of items as we couldn't really figure out what were throwing away and taking with us but each and every single time, they were extremely nice and professional and sent us back updated estimates. We ended up hiring them for both packing (the day before the move) and the moving itself. We've had santos for 2 days. 1st day he came with someone else for the packing portion. Second day was the move day and he also showed up. Santos, Jay, and Kojo were the movers today and I don't even know the word to describe how excellent they were. They were really friendly, courteous and helped us with basically EVERYTHING. They made sure everything was boxes, wrapped and transported safely, and moved to our new place. They did not leave until they triple checked with us that everything is where they should be. I mean I just don't know if I could have asked for a better experience. Octavius, Frankie, and Santos deserve a raise. I booked Intense for my move from Queens to Brooklyn. I was way under in estimating the number of boxes I had but they adjusted with reasonable pricing. Compared to other places, their pricing is super competitive and I was so glad they worked with me. Listen, moving is really stressful for everyone involved so I did what I could on my end: use as many of the same sized boxes as I could, label every box with the room it belongs in so the guys knew where to place them when arriving. These details will make all the difference. This team loaded my entire one bedroom in less than 2 hours (and this is two people with A LOT of sentimental stuff) and unloaded quickly and carefully. They were fun to chat with while we moved in and were so kind and professional. I really don't want to move again any time soon but the next time I or anyone I know need movers, I know who I'm calling. If you can, do the following: - Give them bottles of water because they're human beings doing hard work - Handle oddly shaped things like yoga mats or instruments in your own vehicle - get the COI. I have moved with Intense Movers for the past 2 years, in 2022 and 2023. I have had bad experiences both times. In 2023 one of the movers started yelling at me and I ended my night in tears :( plus they mishandled my things. In 2022, the movers arrived 1.5 hours late and immediately upon arriving began berating me about extra stuff. To be fair to them, I did have some extra, I was new to doing the inventory list they requested and had overlooked items I didn't think of like trash can, shower rack, dish rack etc, but had included all my big furniture, boxes, and clothes. I felt bad for these movers as they were clearly exhausted from moving all day and I honestly wondered why only 2 were sent when it was clear from my inventory it should probably 3 man job (or at least 2 not exhausted overworked men). But my empathy dried up quickly as one guy proceeded to complain for the next 2 hours EVERY TIME he saw me and they took breaks chilling in the truck, we didn't finish till almost 10pm. Breaks are fine but like cmon man. I tried to put everything in easily manageable boxes and bags for the movers making no single thing too heavy (THIS IS IMPORTANT CONTEXT FOR MY 2023 MOVE) I was reprimanded by one of the movers for this, and he told me I should never because it's all about number of trips up and down the stairs. Ok, my bad. The move the next morning was seamless, the guys seemed refreshed, I paid the "extra inventory" fee. Nothing was broken and while the experience itself wasn't outstanding, I appreciated that my stuff was all in one piece. So I booked again in August 2023. This move was SO BAD. I had booked my move for 5pm and asked if we could be done by 9pm and they told me we would (hint: we were not done by 9pm...) I lived in an elevator building where the truck could pull right up, and had really refined my inventory plus packed almost everything into 5-6 large boxes like the mover had told me last year. I only realized last minute I had forgotten to add my plants to my inventory but added it when they texted me day-of asking about extras. Anyways, they arrived 2 hours late and also immediately started counting everything, trying to find "extra stuff" and accusing me. I was so confused by this horrible energy when I was really doing my best. PLUS, I started to HELP THEM move all my boxes because we were going way too slow, so I was carrying my items to the truck with them while one of them complaining about how heavy my boxes were. He also complained about the company exhausting them. This guy actually started to get mad at me, and slammed my box on the ground and pulled me aside to tell me I should NEVER pack boxes this heavy and I was crazy for packing everything in large boxes as opposed to splitting it into small medium boxes. I told him what the mover from Intense Movers told me last year and he told me "no one would have ever said that." Okay... This man was starting to get more and more aggressive to me. They told me they were done BEFORE THE LAST OF MY STUFF WAS DONE BEING MOVED. So I moved the last of my stuff, including my plants, down from my apartment to the truck where this man proceeded to tell me my plants were a "liability" and they decided they're not taking them. I told them this was part of my move and they needed to move everything, and the aggressive guy started to yell and me and TAKE MY STUFF OUT OF THE TRUCK and throw it back on the sidewalk. (I also have a video of him screaming at me in case anyone tries to say this is fake). I started crying because my lease was already up and I didn't know what I would do with my things and I was so exhausted and desperate, I begged them to take it and finally they did. The next morning was a nightmare. These guys were slamming my boxes on the ground like it was weights in the gym. They actually refused to move several of my boxes and made my boyfriend (the actual man of the group) do it, and he reassured me my boxes really weren't that heavy. He took them up the stairs with ease. The movers proceeded to tear off my plastic mattress protector (??) and drag my bare mattress through the street and garbage area and then up the stairs making it completely dirtied. This literally had me on the verge of tears again. They broke 4 wine glasses, 2 plates, and a picture frame. I never said anything because I don't want their money, but I am writing this review to save other people (especially young women) from having the same experience. I can't even imagine what could have happened if my boyfriend wasn't there. It really was horrible and showed me the worst of moving in NYC. Clearly, I will not be moving with them again. read more

They asked insightful questions about item placement for future convenience and handled fragile items with great care. Their consistently positive attitude made the entire process a pleasure. They will break your things and then lie to avoid accountability. It sort of pains me to write this because some of the workers here are really lovely. On the day of the move, they were on-time and professional (for the most part). But when a leg of my cabinet was broken, I was shown the photo after it was already packed in the truck. I assumed that would be used down the line to file an insurance claim. But when I followed up with the company, I was met with lies and games. Phone calls never returned. Emails with no reply. I hired Intense Movers to move three valuable pieces of furniture. They damaged all three pieces AND damaged my apartment wall pretty badly. Nothing was resolved, and the company did not repair my property or refund me for the moving cost. When the mover arrived, I stressed to him that my landlord was very watchful about the condition of the hallway walls and not to cause any damage, as if it would impact my $2500 security deposit. Unfortunately, I don't think this message was passed along to his teammate because, within minutes, there was a large hole in the wall (pictures attached). Although this was an accident, it was very avoidable. When they called for help and a third mover arrived, the new mover successfully brought the dresser down 4 flights of stairs without touching the wall. I wish this thoughtfulness and attention had been given to my initial request not to create damage that would jeopardize my $2500 deposit. Some additional issues include damage to our $3000 dresser (see gauged wood images). This was done when the drawers were carried out and placed into the back of the truck without blankets. I immediately saw the damage and mentioned it, but bigger concerns were happening including the movers telling me they might have to bail altogether. They broke our $2500 desk. The desk was partially damaged before, which my husband pointed out, and he requested that they move that part carefully (as it has been moved several times before without further damage occurring). Instead, the movers immediately snapped the entire desk in half. The desk is now unusable without serious repair (see image). My last, and least costly issue was that I initially requested Intense to provide a mattress bag and wrap my mattress but unfortunately, the movers did not bring a protective bag. I had to throw out my mattress cover and replace it (about $40). This is small compared to the other issues, but it certainly didn't help. Whenever we requested the movers act carefully with certain tasks, like lifting the fragile desk and navigating the apartment halls, we were ignored, and immediately, damage occurred. The combination of damages between the wall, the desk, and the dresser drawers adds up to thousands of dollars out of my pocket. I understand that these accidents happen and that moving is a difficult job, but I don't expect this level of carelessness. While I understand that unforeseen complications can arise during moves, the collective impact of these issues has left me profoundly dissatisfied with the overall experience. I've used a different moving company every time I've moved because until now, I found them all to be terrible. Now that I've used Intense Movers, I won't use anyone else. I had a great experience from start to finish! Their form is a bit more detailed than other movers, which can seem like a pain, but it gets you an accurate quote of exactly what you need. I liked that it was a flat rate that I knew upfront, and that it incentivized them to be efficient and move quickly. I got a lot of quotes and Intense was right in the middle. Communication was great before, during, and after. I worried about hidden costs and upselling from some of the lower priced companies and felt comfortable with Intense given how detailed their questions were. They also gave me an exact time rather than a window, did not charge a higher rate for a morning slot, and were right on time. You do need to pay extra for a COI on each end, but I suppose this saves money for people who don't need a COI rather than baking it into the price. The three guys they sent were very polite, respectful and nice. I've already referred them to a friend who is moving soon and will definitely use them again in the future! read more

I've been working with Intense Movers since 2018 and they are BY FAR THE BEST I've ever worked with. And believe me, I've moved PLENTY. When it comes to moving, I don't mess around because it's just not worth the headache. Handling: 4/5 I've moved with Intense Movers quite a few times and the quality of work (handling) is fairly consistent. They really do their best to handle your items with care. They wrap your furniture and tape them up to prevent damage during transit. I've worked with movers in the past who have damaged friends' TVs, or take really long while also haphazardly just moving your items around. Intense movers handles your items with great care EFFICIENTLY. And if something does go wrong, they really do the right thing. I think management, hands down, has one of the best policies in that they balance their relationships with their customers, with their people, and their insurance partners. I emailed them two-three weeks before my desired move date on a Friday in June. I did a lot of shopping around, and they were definitely one of the ones that gave me the best pricing. I had very few items (a room in an apartment, nothing from the living room or kitchen). I required disassembling for my mattress frame, and I had two heavy items (cabinets). I had a great time working with the folks to schedule my appointment, and they were great at following up. They gave a flat rate for moving, charge for disassembly ($40), tolls (because I was moving my items to NJ), and tip. There were no switch and baits. On the morning of, Xavier gave me a text when they were heading towards me, and he provided an estimated time of arrival. I had everything already packed for them, and they were quick! I wanted to double-bag my mattress and though they normally do not do that, they accommodated. They also bring blankets and tape for your fragile items (tv and cabinets) so that they do not get scratched. For those worried about moving during COVID-19, they made sure to wear masks and gloves. Leading up to the move I appreciated Intense Movers' efficient process of creating a very specific inventory of the things to be moved and their speedy responses to my additions to the list and logistics questions I had. The night before the move, Santos texted me to confirm the movers would be there by my scheduled time, which I appreciated. Careful, competent, and just all-around so nice. The elevator in my old building broke down towards the end, so they had to carry probably 30% of my furniture down two flights. Then, in a nightmarish twist, the elevator in my new building broke down and they had to carry half my crap up SIX flights. A coworker asked me later if they had been furious, and if they were, they never let on. They were still smiling and polite the entire time. This was by far and away the best moving experience I've ever had. The team was amazing. All four of them were absolute gems -- so friendly, kind, efficient, effective, and fun and interesting to talk to. And super fast! They even took the time to set a chair out for my mom while they were in the middle of moving stuff. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually felt giddy and joyful throughout the move and after it was over -- that's how wonderful they were. The office was also great to work with from start to finish. When I needed to change the day, they were understanding and helpful. For my last move, I used one of the other 5-star movers on Yelp and while the move itself was ok, the office was really condescending and annoying to work with. Intense Movers was the exact opposite.
