I booked this service over the weekend for the final items I had left after a larger move. This was a few pieces of furniture and some boxes. I explicitly asked for a 1-man option with a van. He tried to upsell to 2 people, but I was on a budget. According to their website, as long as there is valid legal parking, their 1 man will load everything up (my place had valid legal parking right in front). I paid a $200 deposit, and it was all set. After I originally submitted the web request I sent them an email clarifying all the pieces of furniture to move, and even sent them pictures of it (I couldn't do this on their web form). I said there was at least one item that needed two people, and said I would help with that one. I double-confirmed by email they were going to be ok with it, which they agreed. On the day of the move, TWO people showed up. I asked the guy and he told me it was all ok and not to worry. When the time came to pick up the bulky items I gloved up and was ready to help, but again he told me not to worry, and they got them between the two of them. There were also a bunch of extra boxes to move, most of which were completely empty (just saving them up for another move); I told the guys if those didn't fit it was fine, and to just leave them. But he again told me no problem, and he grabbed them all. Now, when everything was already loaded up and we are ready to go, the guy hands me the phone and tells me it's his boss. Then the boss tells me they are going to charge me for 2 people because of all the furniture. I said I sent them a picture, and he lies, denying having received anything (I have attached to this review the email chain, where you can clearly see the pictures I sent and his response). With an extremely thug-like attitude, he threatens me to just unload everything there on the street and go away if I don't pay for 2 people. He also says with 1 man the guy is not even supposed to load anything up, and it's just supposed to be me (another lie). So what I am supposed to do? I had to agree or they would have basically just kept my deposit and dumped my stuff on the street. Super shady company. It's only every few years I find a company bad enough that makes me want to write a review, and this one is it.

This is the second time we used Man with a Van and it was a hassle-free and smooth move - again! Alfred and and crew are amazing - polite and professional. They have all the tools and equipment to make sure our move was done safely and quickly. We completed our move in just less than two hours and we are more than happy to pay the extra hour! Thank you Man with a Van. Highly recommended!

If I could write a review less than one star I would. Man with the Van spend an hour unpacking and repacking the van because they brought the wrong van size for my move. Because the items did not fit, they disassembled my items to forcely pack my items in the van. When doing this, they disassembled my furniture and damaged my furniture. They did not reassemble it, nor keep the screws, nor tell us about the disassembly without reassembly. When reaching out to man with a van to account for the now, damaged items I will need to repurchase, they only gave me a refund for the time spent packing and unpacking. Now I have to buy furniture valued at over $200 to replace the broken bits and pieces without screws of my furniture. So, in total, this move cost me $225 + $600 + tip + $200 (in damaged furniture to re-purchase). This was extremely disappointing and one of the most unprofessional moving companies I have ever used.

    King size bed

Dealt with either the owner or employee. A miserable man named Paul called and screamed over the phone about a logistical error on his side. Used excessive profanity at a customer who has used them in the past. Made false accusations and screamed " I don't have time for this sh*t" before abruptly cancelling and hanging up. Would've happily paid any difference and resolved it calmly and professionally. He was so irate and agitated that we actually had to double check the number but unfortunately, he is just a bad representation of the company. Do not recommend and will be sure to let others know how horribly and unprofessional the experience was. Edited to address the lie he put underneath. Never asked for a discount or threatened anything actually because he was so rude over the phone I didn't get to speak. Called the DAY BEFORE the move to blame me for lying about inventory when in fact he knew a truck was needed because king bed was in the order form as you can see below back on Dec 21st. Do not use this company

Please save yourself the chance of getting an outsourced team, there are plenty of more trustworthy companies in New York. I booked Man With a Van to move out of my apartment and the team was efficient and professional. Because I moved into storage I hired Man With a Van a few months later to move into my new apartment, and the experience couldn't have been worse. The van was unbranded, implying to me that they were not an experienced team. It turns out I was correct - the members of the team spent the day critiquing each other for being new, on the phone booking other jobs, and one did not help and spent the day in the van. Throughout the move and once they left I discovered many of my belongings were broken (i.e. a cabinet whose legs were knocked clean off, a shelf broken off my bookshelf), chipped (i.e. a chunk taken out of an entertainment unit and my coffee table), and they left permanent gashes on the walls. On top of this one member of the team wouldn't wear a mask, and another had a very dirty surgical mask. When I reported them to Man With a Van they refunded me and apologized, which I appreciated but far less than the money I have spent replacing broken items and now having very damaged items. A few weeks later I finally set up my TV just to discover it to have been completely broken from the inside, the screen cracked. When I asked for this to be replaced, Man With a Van told me they would not be adjusting my refund anymore, and that I should recognize the team was fired after my move. The firing doesn't replace all the money, time, and effort I've lost. Just don't do it. Go with another company. Moving is hard enough without taking this risk.

They dropped my furniture and hid it from me until they left

Ask the Community - Man With A Van

Can I send the movers to the pick up address and have them bring the furniture to my address (drop off address) or do I have to meet them at the pick up address?

There needs to be a shipper (customer) representative in both locations, as there is paperwork required by the licensing authorities' regulations that needs to be signed off by the shipper before and after the move.…

The two movers arrived exactly at the scheduled time listed in my agreement. They were friendly, professional, highly skilled, and incredibly efficient. I unexpectedly needed a few additional items boxed on moving day, and they handled everything without hesitation. Every item was packed and transported with great care. Nothing was broken, damaged, or missing. The move into my new space was just as smooth as the move out of my old one. They carefully followed all of the building's rules for elevator use, placed furniture exactly where I requested, and neatly stacked boxes in the appropriate rooms. What impressed me most was their professionalism and attention to detail. They communicated clearly throughout the process, regularly checked to make sure I didn't have any questions, and truly went above and beyond to ensure everything was done right. Before leaving, they removed all of the packing materials they had used and left both my old and new homes clean and tidy. The entire move stayed on schedule and was remarkably efficient. I honestly could not have been happier with how smoothly everything went. The two movers assigned to my move were truly exceptional--kind, courteous, hardworking, and diligent professionals who clearly take great pride in their work. Please extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to both of them. They made what could have been a stressful day remarkably easy, and I hope they know how much I appreciated their professionalism, care, and dedication. They are wonderful representatives of your company. Thank you for such an outstanding moving experience. I will absolutely use your services again for any future moves and will gladly recommend your company to friends, family, and colleagues.

Shelves thrown on top that are now broken and topped it all off by placing my king mattress - lot of room you will see to go up - blocking the entire storage unit and catching on door. Apparently they can't double park to move on my "narrow" street, that is a one way with parking on both side and even a bike lane. Several other moving trucks double parked - but they just couldn't. Received late and very rude response from Mike claiming the person that posted the review the day before was just lying and trying to hurt his mover. Which is odd... since I had pretty much the same experience. just in case - review from day before that as mike claims - has nothing to do with their actual move.. just trying to hurt his mover Alice A. 010 Oct 31, 2025 DO NOT hire movers from this company if you value your property. A team of 2 individuals who arrived apparently high as kites. Tony and Chris were late, sluggish, clumsy and took 2 hours to load a small job that would've taken 1 hour to load AND arrive to the destination of the move. Waiting for Mike to spout out some bullshit about me not being prepared or last minute ... so i guess according to mike - if you have a last minute move - or in my case, a cancellation - PLEASE, DO NOT CALL MINUTE MOVERS. IT'S YOUR FAULT AND THEY ARE DOING YOU A FAVOR BY SHOWING UP. **UPDATE - Mike let me know that this is just how storage units look! They showed up to chaos and had chaotic guidance, so it's my fault they did things like place the sofa on it's side on the storage unit ground and tossed shelves on top. So if you have any chaos in your move and you use Minute Movers, expect some shit to get destroyed and be placed even more chaotically... and don't forget, they can't park on Brooklyn streets because they are narrow... Mike thinks I am irrational and hell bent on hurting his movers.. kind of like the other post from day prior that is just to hurt them. seems to be a pattern.

Summary: + good price…read more+ fast and overall fine service + overall nice workers - poor communication - some unprofessionalism - some damages I went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars, but ultimately landed on 3. I want to provide enough context so anyone considering Solidarity Movers can make an informed decision. Overall, this was one of the better moves I've had, but not one that warrants the 5-star reviews I see here. My husband and I moved from MA to NY due to family circumstances. The move was already stressful before it began, which is relevant because Solidarity was recommended by a friend who had a great experience with them. Given some poor experiences I've had with movers in the past, I felt confident choosing them. Unfortunately, things started off rocky. I completed a video walkthrough, received an initial quote, and then requested a revision. After that, communication stalled. Multiple follow-ups went unanswered, and I couldn't even get confirmation that my request was being worked on. After about a day of silence while other companies were responding consistently, I was ready to book elsewhere and left a review reflecting my experience. Within minutes, owner Zak called me. He was understanding, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about my concerns. Communication improved immediately, I received the revised quote, and their pricing felt fair, so I booked the move. A couple of weeks before the move, I reached out to confirm everything was still on track and asked about payment. I was told, in writing by Mike, that the remaining balance would be due "upon completion of your move." To me, that clearly meant after delivery. The move was scheduled for June 19 with overnight delivery on June 20. The crew was originally expected between 12 PM and 2 PM but arrived around 4 PM due to traffic. Traffic happens, and I had no issue with the delay itself. The crew was polite, worked efficiently, and seemed to handle our belongings with care. Unfortunately, this is where my experience started to decline. While packing, I overheard two crew members make a joke about my husband and me. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever heard, but it was disappointing to become the subject of a gay joke, especially from a company that publicly projects queer allyship. I chose not to make an issue of it, but another customer may have felt differently. Once loading was complete, the foreman informed me that the remaining balance was due immediately. This directly contradicted the written communication I had received. When I raised the issue, Mike acknowledged there had been a miscommunication but insisted I still had to pay on the spot. What made the interaction frustrating was how dismissive he came across. He stated this was standard procedure and said he would investigate the miscommunication, but unless there is another Mike, the miscommunication originated with him. Rather than create additional stress for myself, I paid the balance and moved on. To be clear, I still tipped the crew generously because they worked hard. By the end of the move, they had received $1,200 total in gratuity, or $400 per mover. The next day, delivery was delayed again due to traffic, but the unloading process itself was quick and organized. The crew followed instructions, reassembled our storage bed, and got everything into the house efficiently. After unloading, I was asked to sign paperwork stating everything had been delivered without damage. This struck me as odd because we hadn't unpacked a single box yet, so there was no realistic way to verify that. Like many people at the end of a move, I signed because I was exhausted and just wanted the process finished. While unpacking later, I discovered our $1,500 credenza had been damaged. Two interior shelves were broken, one completely split in half. Several glass items were also broken in transit. Nothing irreplaceable, but damage nonetheless. Could I file a claim? Sure. But after an already stressful interstate move, I don't have the time or energy to go through another lengthy process. Instead, I'm leaving this review so others can make an informed decision. Despite everything, I would still consider recommending Solidarity Movers, especially for a local move. The crew worked hard, and this was far from the worst moving experience I've had. However, the communication issues, payment confusion, dismissive handling of that confusion, inappropriate comment, and damage to our belongings prevent me from rating the experience higher. If you're reading reviews because you're planning a move and trying to make the best decision possible, I hope this helps. Wishing you the best of luck!

After talking to them, I knew I wanted to go with them. Their customer service, attention to details, and organization are 5-star levels. One thing that really stood out to me was that instead of asking me how many boxes I need, they asked me to send them pics of my place and stuff, and they calculated the number of small, medium and large boxes I need. It's so easy to underestimate and get a different price at the end. Also, I know I wanted packers because its speeds up the entire process of moving and settling in. I'm so glad I did with Roadway. It usually takes me over half a week to pack and be stressed for over a week, but Diego and his 3 teammates packed up our studio in 2-3 hours. They're so professional. They moved so quickly with care and accuracy. Most importantly, all my kitchen appliances were wrapped with care and delivered and arrived to my new apartment in the same condition.
