Contacted RedHat Moving for a move last-minute (only 3 days prior to the move). They were very responsive through Yelp, Text Message, and Phone Calls to make sure that I would get the exact service I asked for. Sergiu was extremely professional and was able to work around my schedule. It was unfortunately raining on the day of the move and I had not covered any of my furniture, but the movers were a step ahead of me and wrapped everything very well. They even disassembled (and later, reassembled furniture that did not fit through the doorways). All my items arrived at the destination undamaged, dry, and quickly. They placed all items at that exact spots I wanted them and unwrapped everything. Despite all the additional care they put in, they finished under the time they quoted me. They didn't smoke or take any breaks. The price was very competitive (and ended up being cheaper due to their expediency). There were no hidden fees and they did not charge for stairs! I used the Yelp quote feature to find an affordable and rated moving company. RedHat was the first to respond with a few clarifying questions and a quote very quickly (within 1 hour). The other quotes trickled in later but RedHat moving had a really good quote and their high rating put them ahead of the 10 companies quoted. I was interested to see if the 5 star rating was really accurate and I learned first hand why. First, my closing date moved twice on my home purchase and RedHat was able to accommodate with swift responses and suggested dates to maintain the original quote. On the date of my move they were punctual, Covid safe, and started moving and dismantling my items right away. They were able to load my apartment with 2 bedrooms/2 bath items within 3 hours. Unfortunately they miscalculated my items and therefore had to leave some items but had a second truck and driver arrive to pack the remaining items. Another truck and driver arrived (at no additional cost) since it wouldn't be possible to unload the truck and reload for another pick up in the same day since my new home is a ways away from my old apartment. They were very careful and nicely protected all my valuables for the move. The well oiled team also safely drove a long distance. Once we arrived in my new home, they also placed everything on the right floor and room in my 4 story home, and reassembled all the furniture they disassembled swiftly to complete their work. The follow up truck arrived 2 hours later and was also unpacked in no time. I'm very happy with my move with RedHat moving and will recommend their services! These guys are great!! They were recommend to me and did not disappoint. Communication was very clear and quick via yelp messaging and via email. I even changed the date once and they confirmed quickly. COIs were provided timely and prior to the move. Their pricing is also very clear and no hidden fees. On move days, we had 3 guys show up exactly on time ON THE DOT ready to work. They wrapped our furniture up expertly and was so quick! Moved 1 bedroom to new one bedroom in exactly 3 hours including disassembly of the bed frame. I used RedHat for a move from Astoria to midtown, 1 bedroom apartment with elevators - they had the best fee quote and very good reviews on yelp. I anticipated the move would take 4-5 hours, given that I had packed everything myself, and boy was I wrong. The movers showed up on time, around 9am, and didn't even leave my place in Astoria until around 2pm - yes, it took them 5 hours just to load a one bedroom apartment. Traffic wasn't bad, they made it to midtown in about 45 minutes. They then took another 2-3 hours to unload (there were also elevators). The entire time, the move team kept asking very unprofessional questions - "are you single?" "why do you have so much stuff for a single person?" - on and on. They also kept saying, over and over, that all of my belongings absolutely will not fit in the new place. They must have said this 10+ times. 9+ hours later, and twice the cost, all of my belongings did fit in my new place with no issue. My poor cats had to stay in carriers the whole time as well. They ripped a giant hole in the bottom of my mattress while moving it, but of course said it was "already there" and then taped the hole with packing tape. If you've ever bought a nice mattress, I'm sure you know they aren't cheap, so that was very disappointing. Several of my furniture items were also damaged in addition to the mattress, but by the end of the day I really just wanted to movers to go, as I had had enough of their constant criticism. I'm paying you to move my items, not to berate me. This move also took place during COVID and the movers did NOT wear masks the entire time, and they did not furnish proof of vaccination. This review is long overdue. In short, they are extremely dishonest and I would not recommend them. They will break your things and hide them from you. If you do use them, check your stuff! Take videos! We used red hat moving service last summer and never got around to write a review. It was a hectic move because we had way too much stuff than we initially thought we do. Everything went smoothly moving from the old apt, however, things went south when moving to the new apt. While at the new apt, my boyfriend and I stayed in the apt to "receive" things while the movers moved things into the apt. It never bothered me to check exactly how many boxes were moved in till after they were gone. First, a marble side table went missing. We have two identical marble side tables, it's hard to miss them. I called sergiu, first he denied the table was missing, claimed that everything was cleared out of their van. Well, turns out the building has security cameras everywhere, we checked every footage, only 1 marble table was ever moved out. Then he claimed that he found the table and will deliver it in the next few days. We didn't hear from him for a week. I called again, another week later, he delivered the table. But it was not the same table. Apparently the movers broke the table so he had to replace "the marble at a high cost". Low and be hold! We compared it with the other identical side table, it wasn't marble.. we let it go consider movers don't make much and "it was just a table". That was a mistake. Because in the weeks to come, there are more things missing, bowls/plates/expensive leather goods (include a bottega bag and wallet, yes it's strange we put them together with bowls and plates, but again it was a hectic move, my boyfriend just threw them in there last minute) , basically a whole giant box. So I called again, this time he finally admits that a whole box was broken but there wasn't anything expensive in the box, just plates and bowls. This was clearly not true. I had opened every box, things are missing. At this point I know there is nothing we can do to get our stuff back. It's my words against his. It was extremely frustrating but again, we were exhausted and just decided to let it go. A year later, as moving season approaches again, I felt the need to write this review as a warning. We all get overstressed and anxious during moves, and sometimes we overlook things here and there. But eventually you start noticing things that went missing. Truth be told, I was very hesitant to write this review because I understand how tough it is for business to survive and how important each review weighs. Movers break things, it's understandable. I don't blame them for breaking my table and whole box. But only if they were honest people. Why would you lie multiple times to cover it up? You run a moving business, own your mistakes! If you plan to utilize their service, they are good movers, punctual and fast, but dishonest. Count your boxes, hide your nice things, then you should be set. read more

I didn't have as good of a move with red hat. They were definitely punctual, responsive on Yelp, but I felt that it was not a good price In the end. I moved the majority of my stuff, only big ticket items were left - a bed, keyboard, dresser, etc. somehow it still took them like 4 hours to move everything. It wasn't the moving portion per se, but the driving from Manhattan to Brooklyn, which took well over 1.5 hours. I took the subway and beat them, with over a half an hour to spare. That being said, my dresser was a little beaten up after the move, and I fixed it, but noted to them that was the case. They were incredibly responsive and helpful in offering to take a look at it, which was appreciated, but I decided against it because the above story already put a bad taste in my mouth. So, super responsive, super helpful, but somehow I felt swindled in their ride over to my new place. It ended up being 250 over what I expected, considering I already moved literally 95% of the boxes already. read more

I'm a native New Yorker, which means I don't trust anyone. Certainly not movers. I'd heard enough horror stories to be on my guard. Well, let me tell you - RedHat Moving has restored my faith in the moving business. From the moment I began speaking with Sergiu, it was obvious I was dealing with a professional. He was very pleasant on the phone, but never tried to "hard-sell" in any way. Sergiu simply and clearly laid out the pricing formula he used. In addition, thank goodness, he indicated that they offered a packing/boxing service. I wasn't even aware there was such a service - and that was exactly what I needed! After asking for a general idea of how much stuff there was to pack up and move, Sergiu quoted a ballpark figure - making sure I understood that he could only determine the final cost once he was at the moving site (and could see the number of boxes/amount of time needed, etc). When I had questions, Sergiu answered them right away. When I unexpectedly had to change the moving date, he was understanding and accommodating. And the day before the move, he made sure to confirm with me. Moving day went like clockwork. True to his word, Sergiu and staff arrived right on time. Once there, they were incredibly thorough and careful with each item. As I watched the gentlemen smoothly wheel everything into my storage unit, I marveled at how neat and well-packed the boxes were. And there were no surprises when I paid the final bill. Sergiu made it a point to show me a full breakdown of the charges, which was 100% consistent with what he'd originally explained. My girlfriend & I have used RedHat Moving 3 times now, including most recently yesterday. We were moving from Astoria to LIC (about 2 miles) and got quotes from all the big names in moving, and RedHat came in far and away under all other quotes. Not only were they the cheapest, they went above and beyond to ensure a painless process. We originally scheduled a 1:30pm start time, however our new building notified us the night before that we needed to be completely done unloading by 5pm, which would be near impossible. I messaged Sergiu and he assured me he could send the team as early as possible and would do whatever possible to ensure our move could conclude prior to 5pm or they would come back the next day to finish. This was super reassuring especially with it being the day before. Ultimately they showed up 2 hours early (at 11:30am vs. 1:30pm) and were able to get us fully loaded, moved, & unloaded at our new place by 4:30pm! An absolute amazing accomplishment. All the while the team took care of all of our belongings, including a very fragile OLED tv, with zero issues. We are now unpacking and trying to settle into our home & have already discussed when the next possible time is when we will be emailing RedHat for another move! These guys were amazing. I had a fairly simple move that I thought would go quickly, but of course as always there was some trouble on the day. I was meeting them at the storage room to load the truck and unload at my apartment but I ended up missing the key to one of the storage boxes. Red hat movers had the drill and bits to unscrew the hinges and get all my stuff moved out so I wouldn't get charged over time for going home looking for the keys and coming back. I was pretty impressed with their quick thinking. Despite the mishap, we were moved and unpacked in 2.5 hours! They even found time to rebuild 3 items of furbture within that time. I moved from the 3rd floor (no elevator!) And yet the guys did it so fast without complaining and they worked in a really organized way. The best! Had to reschedule moving last minute and I somehow found RedHat. I asked for a quote and they got back to me in less than 10 minutes. They answered all my questions, were communicative before they got to my place, and were so so nice. I couldn't believe how quickly they were moving and they took care of all of my stuff without a dent or a scratch. My two bedroom apartment was literally emptied in 15 minutes. It was 6 pm and they had already had a long day of moving out other apts but they moved so quickly, I was so impressed. They were also very thoughtful in trying not to go over the 2 hour time slot and finished in the nick of time so I didn't have to pay any extra. They generously helped move some of my roommates boxes from her truck into my apt, which they totally didn't have to do. Sergiu and his team helped me figure a difficult move that involved not just a move from Astoria to Woodside but also the emptying and moving of a storage unit in Riverhead to my new woodside place. They got both moves done in one day and handled the entire storage unit part of the move without me needing to be there. They were extremely adaptive to last minute issues, including when we nearly ran out of space in the truck or when the doors at my new place were too narrow to fit some of the furniture. I priced a few moving companies and they came back with best price and they came from a recommendation from a friend in the same neighborhood. I prefer to pack my stuff and have everything prepped to go, so the move is literally just the move. We moved a 1 BR within Astoria (about 5-10 minutes apart) and the whole thing wrapped in 3 hours. I had asked if they could pack two TVs when I was getting my quote and they not only packed the TVs, but wrapped all the furniture in moving blankets. The trio moved efficiently and arrived early. As I left to drive to the new place, they were sorting the last couple of pieces in the back of the truck, but when I arrived they were about 2 minutes behind me. And best email response out of anyone I got quotes from - you not only are speaking with an actual person, but they will respond rather quickly. Definitely recommend. read more
