This year has been a lot of moving for me, and moving is so stressful. I've heard great reviews from my nyc friends about roadway moving, so I decided to get a quote from them. After talking to them, I knew I wanted to go with them. Their customer service, attention to details, and organization are 5-star levels. One thing that really stood out to me was that instead of asking me how many boxes I need, they asked me to send them pics of my place and stuff, and they calculated the number of small, medium and large boxes I need. It's so easy to underestimate and get a different price at the end. Also, I know I wanted packers because its speeds up the entire process of moving and settling in. I'm so glad I did with Roadway. It usually takes me over half a week to pack and be stressed for over a week, but Diego and his 3 teammates packed up our studio in 2-3 hours. They're so professional. They moved so quickly with care and accuracy. Most importantly, all my kitchen appliances were wrapped with care and delivered and arrived to my new apartment in the same condition. It took us about 2 hrs to settle in, and they once again unpacked most of the furnitures and reassembled them, making me feel settled in and relaxed. I cannot thank their team enough. Before they even arrived, I got a tracking link to follow their location just like Uber, which immediately made me feel at ease. Crisanto and his crew showed up right on time and were incredible. They worked quickly but carefully, wrapping all of my furniture and somehow managing three giant mirrors without a single issue. Not one complaint and not one moment of stress. What really stood out was how above and beyond they went. They helped me figure out which part of my couch would actually fit in my space, laid out my rugs, and organized everything so I could still move around my studio comfortably. They kept their word with pricing and due dates, they communicate clearly what needs to be done and held up to my expectations. We had a long distance moving from NY to Florida. The only thing we had a bit of a problem with was that, after they loaded my furniture and everything else, they didn't drive directly to Florida. They gave us a 3 week window to deliver the stuff to our new home. Our drive took 3 days, so we had to sleep at a hotel for the first 2 days then bought an inflatable mattress and sleepy at the house until the delivery date, which was a few days later. They told us about this delivery window way before, so we packed up a few change of clothes and minimal things to take in our car. That was just an inconvenience that we knew ahead of time, everything else went smooth. read more

It took me over a month to choose a moving company to haul my entire life from California to North Carolina. I am SO happy I chose Roadway. From day 1 Jorge walked me through the process and answered all of my many questions. Unlike other companies I spoke with, Roadway was able to actually lower my cost when I chose not to take certain furniture pieces with me on my move. Other companies would've had me locked into a price. The crew who loaded me up showed up on time and were so super friendly. My husband had to leave a month before me and our kids so I was alone in packing and handling the entire move. I wasn't done packing yet when they arrived but the crew was so helpful and went above and beyond and even helped me pack a few things that were left undone when they arrived. They handled everything with such care and the way they wrapped and packed my furniture was incredible. On the receiving end, I had the please of having Alex D and his crew deliver my belongings and even though it was in the high 90s and humid as heck, they never stopped working. They also handled all of my things with great care and attention to detail. They were on time and kept me updated on delivery for two days prior. They were incredibly kind and funny. In all, my things were picked up on August 4th by the local pickup team, loaded onto a bigger tractor trailer and left the Roadway warehouse on August 11th and was delivered to me August 18th. It was 2 weeks in total which is still much less time than I was quoted by other companies. I think it's important to note that my mother also made this move and went with a different large, LA based company who charged her over $1,000 on the day of pickup for "expedited shipping" which "guarantees" delivery within a 3 day window (August 5-8) even though they had told her prior to her signing contract that they would be able to deliver in that timeframe and no added cost was mentioned. Her items didn't even leave their warehouse until August 4th and weren't delivered until August 15th. Much of her furniture and boxes were destroyed. It almost made me feel guilty that my move and experience with Roadway was so flawless. **added to note I was a "Packed By Owner" customer. I packed my own boxes. Everything showed up still in good condition. I'm not done unpacking boxes, however my furniture showed up in perfect condition and I am SO GRATEFUL. We recently used Roadway Movers for a move from one apt in NYC to another. We had used them twice before to our satisfaction, but that was over 10 years ago. I was hoping nothing had changed, and it hadn't. Once again, it was a stress free experience. The communication before, during, and after the move was phenomenal. I went with Roadway after choosing between them and CA-NY Express for an NYC-area to LA move. While my boxes arrived intact, most of my larger items suffered damage. My TV, for example, arrived with a large dent in the bottom near the speaker area, although thankfully it still works. The other larger items suffered nicks and dings of various sizes. I've moved these items myself for 4-7 years and never experienced damage. The moving team packing up my items was great, but at drop off, the team scuffed and nicked a number of my walls and doors. All in all, if you're just moving boxes, maybe Roadway would work, but for long haul moves, I wouldn't recommend them for furniture. read more

I'm not sure where to start with this review as this service is just so phenomenal that I just don't know where to begin. The whole process moving and packing from one apartment to another took around 3 hours, which if you have moved before, is insanely fast. We didn't have to lift a finger to do anything. For my first time using a moving company I thought I would have to pack a little beforehand, so all the movers had to do was bring it from one location to another - nope. They did everything. I'll explain more below ---------About the movers-------- These are such hardworking, nice and honest people. One of the movers first came up to survey our apartment to see how much stuff we had, which rooms were which so they can organize accordingly. Once that was done, they got to work. They had a team of 5-7 movers, and you can tell they were all proficient at the job. Emilio was our point person, and he was a great guy to work with. He was enthusiastic and made moving a fun and casual experience. We are usually nervous about moving day, but Emilio made sure that everything was handled. ---------About the service-------- They started with the living room and brought all of the material needed to safely protect all items. TVs, monitors, couch, and tables all had edge protection. Glasses, silverware, mugs all were individually wrapped with tons of paper. There was no way they would be breaking. They are very good at handling fragile items. Even with the heavy items they can move them with ease. They neatly boxed up everything in each nook and cranny of our apartment into their corresponding boxes and labeled them accordingly. They will ask whether you want to keep an item or not. They don't just toss stuff away so don't worry. Once all the items are protected and pack they will drive over to the new location and place boxes accordingly. They will reassemble items that they had previously dissembled and will unbox fragile items. We had a great experience with this moving company. They were very unprofessional the morning of my unpacking 2 men arrived at 9 am it was downhill after that we had booked 4 people to do the job 2 arrived the foreman argued with me and told me it was a 2 man crew he finally called the company and another guy came, this was an unpack the team wasn't knowledgeable about unpacking fine china and glassware etc so me and my 2 girlfriends did the unpacking they moved boxes!!! They were very good at stealing though excellent actually the protocol of the company is all boxes are to be made flat after unpacking them and packing materials go in a clear plastic bag. That didn't happen as they swore they did that cameras don't lie you see 1 guy on camera taking out weighty boxes packed when questioned I was told they ran out of plastic bags it's a moving company it's like going to the supermarket and they ran out of food!!! The office was sooo rude and not helpful when I requested a call from either the owner or the COO I was laughed at because they were guilty... needless to say neither returned multiple calls. The police came and it's now in their fine hands... this was heartbreaking because some of the items were my mothers fine silverware from George Jensen from the 1950's and very hard to replace and my wedding silver from Tiffany!!! I would say run the other way these people have no understanding of customer service or care... besides they sent a crew that was the wrong people for the job. Alrighty , I have to tell you first that I consider myself somewhat of a moving expert. Over the last 30 years, we have had more than 12 corporate moves all over the country and dozens more local ones in multiple states and cities. So of course when my adult daughter was moving from place to place in New York City I felt I had to be there to " assist"! Well, there was absolutely no need . Miguel and Robert could not have been nicer and they whirled through everything all the while taking care of her things as if the came from the MET! Trust me, this young lady of mine thinks her memory box is just as valuable! Lol, they did a great job! I hate to say it , but we have had moves that cost more than a brand new vehicle. Where do I start... last week I hired Roadway last minute and they responded right away to accommodate and coordinate my move. The kindest and most experienced movers in NYC! Yesterday I moved from East Village to Brooklyn and we did it with ease! They arrived early, wore masks, and even helped us close up some wardrobe boxes! Roadway has a very professional process, from start to finish. They have moving down to a science. They begin by doing a virtual walkthrough, so they can get a good idea of what you have to be moved. I believe this is what allows them to offer (and honor) a price guarantee; they see for themselves what you are moving. The salesperson I worked with, John, was responsive and reassuring -- which I appreciated, because I find moving very stressful. On the day of our move, Osvaldo and his team did a great job. The four men (counting Osvaldo) and one woman -- Osvaldo's wife, actually, who did the packing -- arrived early and worked efficiently. They took three hours (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) to pack up our kitchen, which was the one room we asked them to pack, and to load all the rest of our belongings and furniture into their truck. Because I'm a bit of a pack rat, we had a LOT of stuff, even though we were moving from just a two-bedroom apartment, so this could have taken much longer. The kitchen items were packed safely; nothing broke in transit, even though there was a lot of glassware. (In hindsight, maybe we should have asked them to pack more, since they did it so quickly and securely.) In the middle of the move, Shari, who I believe works in customer relations, called to make sure that everything was going smoothly, which I appreciated. They are very committed to good customer service. This was a local move. It took Osvaldo and his team maybe an hour or so to drive from Manhattan to our new town in suburban New Jersey (only slightly longer than it took us to travel the same distance by car). At our new home, Osvaldo and his three colleagues (his wife didn't come for the unloading, since she just does packing) unloaded everything quickly but carefully, reassembling the things that needed to be reassembled. Throughout the move, they were very courteous and worked without complaint -- even though the heat was brutal that day, and the air conditioning on the second floor of our home was not working. They finished at around 4:30 p.m. (We had refreshments for them at both our old and new homes, which I think they appreciated; happy movers are better movers.) To be honest, I was a little paranoid about the moving process, having heard so many moving "horror stories" from friends, but we had no issues whatsoever with Roadway. Osvaldo and his team did not damage our items, hold our belongings hostage, claim that we needed to pay more, or demand an extortionate tip (but we tipped generously because we were very happy with the service). Everything was handled cheerfully and professionally. If you can afford them -- because they are not the lowest-cost provider, as others have noted -- you should definitely consider Roadway Moving for your move! read more

Okay little weird that I'm leaving 5 Stars even though I ultimately didn't decide to hire Roadway Moving... Why you ask? I'm compelled to write an excellent review for them after a phone conversation I had with an employee yesterday afternoon. I'll be moving from Gramercy to the UES (about 45 blocks away) within the month. I found Roadway Moving on Yelp after searching the hella saturated market for a few days. I used the Request A Quote feature which was effortless. My move is a bit niche because I'm not moving any furniture except a standing mirror, small end table and medium sized bench-- so I really just need someone to help transport maybe 10-15 boxes. Rewind to yesterday when I got the call from them asking for more details of the move. I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH HOW THIS EMPLOYEE CONDUCTED HIMSELF! I've been speaking with several NYC movers trying to find the right business to help me with my very minimal moving needs with no luck and a bad taste in my mouth. Lots of high pressure, some harassing by back calling nonstop, etc. The quote I received from them was around $900 which I immediately explained was way out of my budget due to the minimal nature of my move. The male employee was so professional, kind and courteous. We agreed it wasn't the right fit and he proceeded to give me some helpful moving tips by recommending renting a U-Haul instead since it's such a small move (they really specialize in giving more economical prices for larger moves). He gave me the best city to pick up a truck because they're pretty scarce in Manhattan at the moment. The point is-- he could've easily hung up but instead he chatted with me for a few minutes just to help me out. This is important! Every other NYC moving company please take note: Although they weren't the right mover for me at this time, based on how genuine, professional with no hard pressure, you bet I'm going to blast this company to all my friends and family for when they move. This is how you win referrals and scale your business organically, these guys truly have their priorities in check by focusing on the customer's needs first. So with that, bravo!
