I booked this service over the weekend for the final items I had left after a larger move. This was a few pieces of furniture and some boxes. I explicitly asked for a 1-man option with a van. He tried to upsell to 2 people, but I was on a budget. According to their website, as long as there is valid legal parking, their 1 man will load everything up (my place had valid legal parking right in front). I paid a $200 deposit, and it was all set. After I originally submitted the web request I sent them an email clarifying all the pieces of furniture to move, and even sent them pictures of it (I couldn't do this on their web form). I said there was at least one item that needed two people, and said I would help with that one. I double-confirmed by email they were going to be ok with it, which they agreed. On the day of the move, TWO people showed up. I asked the guy and he told me it was all ok and not to worry. When the time came to pick up the bulky items I gloved up and was ready to help, but again he told me not to worry, and they got them between the two of them. There were also a bunch of extra boxes to move, most of which were completely empty (just saving them up for another move); I told the guys if those didn't fit it was fine, and to just leave them. But he again told me no problem, and he grabbed them all. Now, when everything was already loaded up and we are ready to go, the guy hands me the phone and tells me it's his boss. Then the boss tells me they are going to charge me for 2 people because of all the furniture. I said I sent them a picture, and he lies, denying having received anything (I have attached to this review the email chain, where you can clearly see the pictures I sent and his response). With an extremely thug-like attitude, he threatens me to just unload everything there on the street and go away if I don't pay for 2 people. He also says with 1 man the guy is not even supposed to load anything up, and it's just supposed to be me (another lie). So what I am supposed to do? I had to agree or they would have basically just kept my deposit and dumped my stuff on the street. Super shady company. It's only every few years I find a company bad enough that makes me want to write a review, and this one is it.

The crews got on side on time and very professional. We were look for mover without truck to move loft bed from our building with COI provided. I had quote price with the man with the van less than a week prior move date. They guilded us through the process with fast response via email and phone. The crew shown up with all the tools they need and move the west elm loft bed with less than 2 hours. We highly recommended the man with van if you have value items and looking for professional.

Very displeased with the service. First of all, they charge by the hour which I realized too late is a scam. I had a small one bedroom so I figured it wouldn't take more than a few hours. It took five. It shouldn't have. I chose them because the rate was good but with five hours of work I ended up paying more than every other service quoted me. Second, they scam you with the number of movers they provide. I paid the 3 man rate, but one guy stood outside next to the truck the whole time. So I paid for three people and got the work of two. Third, I have a number of damaged and missing items. I contacted them about my missing items, including a guitar stand I've had for 15 years, and have gotten zero response. It's really upsetting. Finally, they showed up 45 minutes late. So my advice is do not use this service.

This is how the owner responds to feedback. Racism and Misogyny.

7/29/2020 *SINCE my review, the owner Paul has posted an incredibly racist and misogynist response to me, on Yelp telling me about his 'nasty' Korean Ex-Wife. I guess because I'm an Asian female, I triggered his PTSD and it caused him to scream at me. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I am literally worried for my physical safety. I will be sharing this incident far and wide. 7/27/2020 The movers were polite and courteous. The Manager Michael was very helpful. The owner screamed at me and called me names on the phone. At what point is it ever ok to call a customer nasty and shrill? I booked a move with the owner Paul - letting him know I had the freight elevator in my new place from 9:30AM - 12:30PM. I have no idea how long a one bedroom move will take - so I trusted this company's expertise when they suggested a pick up window of 10AM - 12PM. The movers arrived at 9:45am. We did not arrive at the drop off location until 1pm. When the movers had to wait for the freight elevator because my scheduled time was past, I was told I would be charged $220 an hour for the wait. When I called to owner and I let him know the drop off time was late (30 min past the 12:30pm window I gave him) he said his guys arrived early and basically he's not a magical genie and able to hit my drop off window. I said I'm not a professional mover - I had no idea a one bedroom move out would take 3 hours - and I would've expected him as the expert to book an earlier pick up time when I gave him the drop off window. Paul became very sarcastic and mean, and said that I had to pay for the wait and hung up on me. When I called back he called me nasty, shrill, and a Karen and continued to scream over me. He became sarcastic and said he had other customers waiting and if he had my "permission to call me back". He literally would not let me speak. Everyone else I spoke to at this company was incredibly helpful, but I have never been screamed at so skillfully and sarcastically as Paul did to me today. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY.

I unexpectedly needed a few additional items boxed on moving day, and they handled everything without hesitation. Every item was packed and transported with great care. Nothing was broken, damaged, or missing. The move into my new space was just as smooth as the move out of my old one. What impressed me most was their professionalism and attention to detail. They communicated clearly throughout the process, regularly checked to make sure I didn't have any questions, and truly went above and beyond to ensure everything was done right. Before leaving, they removed all of the packing materials they had used and left both my old and new homes clean and tidy. The entire move stayed on schedule and was remarkably efficient. The two movers assigned to my move were truly exceptional--kind, courteous, hardworking, and diligent professionals who clearly take great pride in their work. After talking to them, I knew I wanted to go with them. Their customer service, attention to details, and organization are 5-star levels. One thing that really stood out to me was that instead of asking me how many boxes I need, they asked me to send them pics of my place and stuff, and they calculated the number of small, medium and large boxes I need. It's so easy to underestimate and get a different price at the end. Also, I know I wanted packers because its speeds up the entire process of moving and settling in. I'm so glad I did with Roadway. It usually takes me over half a week to pack and be stressed for over a week, but Diego and his 3 teammates packed up our studio in 2-3 hours. They're so professional. They moved so quickly with care and accuracy. Most importantly, all my kitchen appliances were wrapped with care and delivered and arrived to my new apartment in the same condition. It took us about 2 hrs to settle in, and they once again unpacked most of the furnitures and reassembled them, making me feel settled in and relaxed. I cannot thank their team enough. They're all so polite, friendly and efficient. Within 1 day, I already feel 95% settled in. It's the easiest, stress-free moving experience I had in a while!

Before they even arrived, I got a tracking link to follow their location just like Uber, which immediately made me feel at ease. Crisanto and his crew showed up right on time and were incredible. What really stood out was how above and beyond they went. They helped me figure out which part of my couch would actually fit in my space, laid out my rugs, and organized everything so I could still move around my studio comfortably. Also shoutout to one of the crew members who was on his first day. You truly could not tell. The whole team was professional, efficient, and just genuinely great to work with. This was hands down the easiest move I've ever had. If you are debating which moving company to use, this is your sign. Go with them.

I price-compared a ton of NYC moving companies and J & G gave me a competitive moving quote. Additionally, the building I was moving into required a certificate of insurance (COI) and J & G was able to offer it for me for free. A lot of other companies charge for this. Before moving, I communicated with them via email and they always responded promptly and were very clear about what their moving package included. The day of the move, they called and asked if it was okay if they came an hour early. They were very communicative with me during the whole move. The lead guy (forgot his name!) assessed how many things I had and then discussed with the other 2 men on how to efficiently approach the move. The 3 men were over 6' tall and strong, and they were able to finish my whole move in a little more than 1 hr! I did not have anything that was easily breakable but the men treated my things with care. They provided blanket and shrink wrapping for all of my furniture. Everything was loaded up into their truck very quickly. These guys wasted no time. When I arrived at my new apartment building, they had already started unloading my things. I had my boxes labeled with what was inside (i.e., kitchen supplies, shoes, jackets) and they actually placed each box in the corresponding room. Best of all, there were no hidden fees. They ended up not charging me a processing fee that was included in the quote and gave me $40 off my quoted price. The movers were so friendly, communicative and professional, I will definitely be using J & G Moving again! I also wanted to note that on the day of my move, the street I was moving from was blocked due to construction. J & G movers did not complain or make any mention of that until I had stepped outside of my apartment building and noticed it. These guys provide excellent customer service and I was very impressed by them.

They scheduled a zoom/facetime walk-thru of my apartment to see what I needed and to give me a better quote. I had started packing already and got all my own boxes so it was easy to see what I had left. What I really liked was the 'no BS' hidden fees. It was one price that wouldn't change, no matter the hours or added last minute box. Of course my move was scheduled and it had to snow. Thankfully this didn't stop them. 4 guys showed up right on time (during a snow storm on a friday morning rush hour in the city). They walked thru and got a game plan, then brought up all the blankets and plastic wrap and got to work. TVs were dismounted and put in boxes, mattresses were put in boxes as well. The amount of blankets they used to wrap my furniture made me so happy. While they took their time, they were still hustling - running from the truck to the apartment. Once we got to my new place, they covered my stairs with runners and wore plastic booties to ensure my floors weren't messed up. I want to provide enough context so anyone considering Solidarity Movers can make an informed decision. Overall, this was one of the better moves I've had, but not one that warrants the 5-star reviews I see here. My husband and I moved from MA to NY due to family circumstances. The move was already stressful before it began, which is relevant because Solidarity was recommended by a friend who had a great experience with them. Given some poor experiences I've had with movers in the past, I felt confident choosing them. Unfortunately, things started off rocky. I completed a video walkthrough, received an initial quote, and then requested a revision. After that, communication stalled. Multiple follow-ups went unanswered, and I couldn't even get confirmation that my request was being worked on. After about a day of silence while other companies were responding consistently, I was ready to book elsewhere and left a review reflecting my experience. Within minutes, owner Zak called me. He was understanding, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about my concerns. Communication improved immediately, I received the revised quote, and their pricing felt fair, so I booked the move. A couple of weeks before the move, I reached out to confirm everything was still on track and asked about payment. I was told, in writing by Mike, that the remaining balance would be due "upon completion of your move." To me, that clearly meant after delivery. The move was scheduled for June 19 with overnight delivery on June 20. The crew was originally expected between 12 PM and 2 PM but arrived around 4 PM due to traffic. Traffic happens, and I had no issue with the delay itself. The crew was polite, worked efficiently, and seemed to handle our belongings with care. Unfortunately, this is where my experience started to decline. While packing, I overheard two crew members make a joke about my husband and me. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever heard, but it was disappointing to become the subject of a gay joke, especially from a company that publicly projects queer allyship. I chose not to make an issue of it, but another customer may have felt differently. Once loading was complete, the foreman informed me that the remaining balance was due immediately. This directly contradicted the written communication I had received. When I raised the issue, Mike acknowledged there had been a miscommunication but insisted I still had to pay on the spot. What made the interaction frustrating was how dismissive he came across. He stated this was standard procedure and said he would investigate the miscommunication, but unless there is another Mike, the miscommunication originated with him. Rather than create additional stress for myself, I paid the balance and moved on. To be clear, I still tipped the crew generously because they worked hard. By the end of the move, they had received $1,200 total in gratuity, or $400 per mover. The next day, delivery was delayed again due to traffic, but the unloading process itself was quick and organized. The crew followed instructions, reassembled our storage bed, and got everything into the house efficiently. After unloading, I was asked to sign paperwork stating everything had been delivered without damage. This struck me as odd because we hadn't unpacked a single box yet, so there was no realistic way to verify that. Like many people at the end of a move, I signed because I was exhausted and just wanted the process finished. While unpacking later, I discovered our $1,500 credenza had been damaged. Two interior shelves were broken, one completely split in half. Several glass items were also broken in transit. Nothing irreplaceable, but damage nonetheless. Could I file a claim? Sure. But after an already stressful interstate move, I don't have the time or energy to go through another lengthy process. Instead, I'm leaving this review so others can make an informed decision. Despite everything, I would still consider recommending Solidarity Movers, especially for a local move. The crew worked hard, and this was far from the worst moving experience I've had. However, the communication issues, payment confusion, dismissive handling of that confusion, inappropriate comment, and damage to our belongings prevent me from rating the experience higher. If you're reading reviews because you're planning a move and trying to make the best decision possible, I hope this helps. Wishing you the best of luck!

We will absolutely use them again, and we will be recommending them to everyone we know. Olga was super communicative, and she made the process so smooth and stress-free. She was always extremely responsive. Every question we asked was answered quickly and every email we received felt very reassuring. We haven't moved in a while and we had a lot of worries about moving to NY and hiring movers. But we could tell how competent they were even over email. For example, we realized the night before the move that we have a sunken in living room we did not mention before. We thought surely that will be an extra charge (and other movers might be very upset with us for not mentioning it!). We frantically emailed that they may want to bring a ramp or something. Olga responded, that is no problem. A lot of other companies also wanted an inventory of everything ahead of time, which we definitely didn't have. Olga said we could guesstimate and update her if anything changed. This was a lifesaver. When we updated along the way, she never seemed concerned that what we were adding was too much. We have friends who have used other moving companies, and they told us actual horror stories (e.g., movers not showing up, a million extra charges, needing every box to be accounted for before the move, things breaking, etc.). So when we were looking for movers, we were trying to avoid all of that. We decided to go with NY nomads because they were a small family business. Many of the big companies seem to be hit or miss - some people have okay experiences and some have really bad ones. There's a reason NY nomads have so many great reviews. They're kind, consistent, and professional. Djordje was friendly, great to talk to, and clearly very knowledgeable about moving and NYC. I was impressed with how quickly and efficiently they moved everything into the truck, and I was even more impressed with how they were able to park the truck right in front of our apartment. You can tell they have a lot of experience. If you're moving to NYC or moving within NYC, I would absolutely recommend NY nomads. You won't regret it. Worth every penny.

Service was friendlier and more competent than I've ever experience with a mover before. Great…read moreexperience in terms of professionalism, communication, punctuality, and diligence. Would highly recommend.
