We hired Advanced Moving Pros in 2019 and had a stellar experience. They were very efficient, professional, and kind. Three weeks ago, we hired them again, and it was a disaster. Here is what happened: - They arrived three hours late, smelling like cannabis, with red eyes. It was obvious they were completely stoned. Later, when they packed the truck and were about to drive off to the new location, I came up to the truck's cabin to ask a question, and saw the driver and another mover sitting in the truck's cabin, smoking a joint (judging by the smell and the type of smoke). Not only is it unprofessional, it's extremely dangerous, especially driving a huge moving truck (a misdemeanor). All signs were pointing to the fact that this was not a freak occurrence, but their usual way of working. When I reached out to them, Vance (their boss) did not comment, whereas the driver said that he doesn't smoke cannabis, but he can't speak for his colleagues. Sadly, for the sake of road safety, I had to file a NYPD report. - It was a rainy day, and their truck was leaking a LOT. About two thirds of all boxes got wet (pictures attached). Some of them were soaked to the point of falling apart as you were carrying them. Many books of ours, as well as original artworks, paintings, our son's drawings and handwritten poems - all got badly damaged. In addition, a desk got pierced by some sharp object (pictures attached), and a pair of Sony headphones broke in half. When I reached out to Vance, their boss, he replied "Hi. Reach out to the foreman. They are responsible for the damages so they will have to take care of it. That's how we go about these situations." So I reached out to the foreman, and he replied that, because I was helping them with the boxes, I am as responsible as they are for the damages, so they won't reimburse anything. I asked if I'm responsible for their truck leaking water (most of the damage was water damage), but my question went without a reply. - Throughout the move, they were extremely slow. In total, it took them about 12 hours to move our 600-square-feet 2BR apartment. They finished around midnight. Four years ago, when we hired Advanced Moving Pros, it took them less than 6 hours. - We had three plants that were supposed to be moved to the new place. Once they packed the truck, one of the movers told me that "they can't take the plants because there's no more room". I later noticed they took one of our large drawers on the truck which was supposed to be thrown away (garbage) - but one of the movers said "Oh, I'm keeping it, that's for me." Had he not kept our drawer, there would have been room for at least two of our plants. So yeah, I would recommend you stay away from these guys. Highly unprofessional, and frankly, dangerous and illegal behavior. They damage your property, and instead of apologizing, they blame it on you (!) read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I used their services in mid April. I should have known they were no good when they showed up without masks or gloves during a pandemic. When I offered disposable masks and gloves they declined and said they had their own. Two of them ended up wearing bandanas and one person put gardening gloves on. By the time they got the furniture to the new place I had a cracked bookshelf, scratched furniture, a broken lamp (they ripped off the light bulb with the socket, instead of untwisting the lamp), missing screws and a broken front door to the old place (they removed the door to move bigger furniture, when reinstalled the door would not close). They were supposed to refund a portion of the moving costs to fix/replace the damaged furniture and repair the broken door. After a week dodging my calls and messages, they finally responded after I posted a negative review to their thumbtack. Jose, the team lead had the nerve to tell me he did not appreciate the negative review, when he was the one ignoring my communications. Two months after the move, they refunded 2/3 of what they owed back. It has been another 3 months since and they are still not refunding the last 1/3. Vance, the owner is still not responding to my communications, much less Jose, the team lead who was present the day of the move. If you want to spare yourself the trouble of dealing with such unprofessional and dishonest people, find another moving company. DO NOT WASTE YOU TIME OR MONEY WITH THESE FOLKS. read more

It's the worst moving company I've ever experienced (OVERPRICED & SLOW, & UNTIMELY). It needs to be more organized and professional. They broke numerous items and lost several pieces of my furniture. When I tried to call and request a resolution for all my broken furniture and missing items, The owner said he would reimburse me, so I sent him pictures with a serial number and item descriptions for all the damaged items and afterward tossed the items. Four days later, the owner said, "You shouldn't have tossed the items. We were going to repair them. The items were in no condition for repairs, and he is unwilling to reimburse me for all my damages. Please do not use this company at all. Very quick to respond to questions and with a quote which was well affordable and didn't price me out of my budget. With extremely short notice they were able to provide me with a truck with 3 movers for pretty much the very next day. On the day of the move the movers communicated with me early to touch base and arrived in the window they gave me. They worked efficiently and quickly to get it all done. They packed the truck like Tetris masters and took care of delicate items. Loose items which I thought would be troublesome actually ended up carted away together to be brought to the truck with ease. The movers didn't take pause and overall the move went much quicker than I imagined it would take. Upon arriving at my destination they worked with equal speed to get everything into my home. They also helped place large items in the room of my choice. I had no issues with items upon arrival. Moving SUCKS!!!! I was dreading thinking about it as someone leaving a home of 20 years and accumulating lots of stuff. When I stumbled upon the folks at AdVanced Moving I later came to find out I made one of the best decisions of my life. Mid-move I stopped the four gentlemen on the job to let them know I had dubbed them the "Four Horseman" and that when I moved again in several months to my next purchased home I want them and only them to work the job (I even spoke to the boss Andrew to let him know the same and that the guys were the best of the best). They went above and beyond what I thought movers would be. They were attentive, incredibly responsive to all my questions, respectful, beyond patient and more than anything trustworthy. So I will start by saying, please go elsewhere with your moving needs. They were recommended to me by a family friend who briefly worked with them, I was told they were professional and punctual and none of that was the case on the actual moving day. I had paid a $50.00 deposit on June 25th for a July 14th move, of course no problem with that and the arrangements were made promptly. Come July 13th, I get a text stating that the movers would come at 11am instead of 9am due to issues with dispatch...I stated it wasn't an issue due to my packing up some last-minute items and having a bit more time was helpful. On the moving day I get a message stating that there was no driver for the truck... apparently no back up driver either, so the scramble began for them to search for someone. Low and behold after being told a few times that they were looking for someone and also stating that the move could not take place any other time this week due to my schedule, they found someone and stated they would arrive by 12:30-1pm, that time frame came and went and the 3 movers arrived a bit before 3pm. They packed up pretty quickly and we made it to the new apartment at around 5:30pm...now this gets more interesting as when I decide to grab some food while my friends are around observing the move we all notice another man who wasn't there for the initial move peering into the truck, apparently one of the movers gave a random man $20 dollars to assist with the move (mind you I wasn't moving alot of large items like a bed or sofa) and once again I paid for 3 movers. So now on top of a late move, I had a complete stranger coming up and down to my apartment with a few items in tow. One mover of the 3 was pretty much working on his own after a while and I wish he could find a better company to work for because he did most of the hard work...the others were MIA for the most part until the main guy who hired the random stranger came up to collect the fee. I also had to reschedule with cable because we weren't moved in until about 6pm....hours later after the initial estimate. Now I wish it would end here, but now today, two days later after the move, I get a call stating that 3 of my items were left on the truck itself, however the main concern being that two tarps (which I bagged up and placed on the side) were missing from their inventory. Unfortunately due to the late move itself and all of us scrambling to accommodate items before I had to get up to work the next day, we didn't realize that those items weren't there. They are also sentimental items/decorations from my late mother's apartment that I had taken with me. They brought them back today and lucky thing I had friends in the apartment waiting for cable to be installed because God knows if/when I would ever get those items back in the first place. This is a very sloppy and very unprofessional company and I wouldn't refer them to anyone after this. I also sent a message explaining what had happened and what issues arose especially after today, I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt despite the difficulty with them because the work was done and I appreciated that much...but I also rather give people warning that if they are looking for a professional moving company, this isn't the one to go to. read more

From start to finish this was THE BEST moving experience I've had. They were on time, packed up a one-bedroom move in under 2 1/2 hours and safely unpacked in less than that. 12 hours moving for 20mins drive distance It was recommend by my friend said they were fast. They are. It only take around 1hr for all my stuff goes to the truck, not to mention we have beds. The appointment was 8am, they came at 12:45. :( They said truck was broken. I can understand things happen. Then they said about their plans that they need to pick up some smaller work in the middle before our delivery. We guess it's the other appointment at that afternoon. It's fine if it's only a pick up. However, they didn't show up until 6:30pm when they finished other job. We waited till almost 8pm for the works done. They have cover for queen but not for king size mattress,all the things get wet since the rain begins at 5. It could all be avoided. Scratches on the wall, leaves on the bed board and floor, broken top cover(that you couldn't buy new except purchasing a new mattress)balabala Luckily, I have another day that I could sleep at my previous apartment. Absolutely pay attention to the negative reviews. Moved a few months ago and unfortunately hired this group of people who call themselves a company. First off they were expected at 5:30 at night and didn't get there until yes 10:30 PM. Only furniture they wrapped and didn't damage was the couch. They closed the fridge in the of the truck over and over as I'm telling them it won't fit. They clearly had stuff left on the truck from a previous move therefore had to make two trips with my stuff. Between trips they disappeared for 40 mins. They ruined a pool table, scratched a beautiful entertainment center that now looks horrible, scratched the floor of the new apartment cause they were lazy to do it the right way I could go on and on. We were literally scrambling to find reasonable movers the day before we had to be out and came across "Fair Price Movers" on the Thumbtack app. Vance was super responsive and was even flexible with payment options as we were tight on cash and had to use our credit card. The crew showed up within the arrival window and were super friendly. The move out/in was smooth. The crew was very careful with all of our things. We are so thankful they could come through. One of the worst experiences we have ever had. Stay far away from Vance/Fair price movers. We booked with them because the storage place we are using recommended them. Huge mistake! We were given an estimate of four hours based on four movers ( only three showed up)working on a two bedroom. Not only did they arrive late the truck had a leak...it took from 9am-10 pm (this includes two hour delay & two hour dinner) to move a two bedroom apartment . We admittedly have a lot of "stuff" but I can't imagine much more then the next person. We are also on the second floor with no stairs (which was communicated to them) they had no idea what they were doing . One of the men even communicated they were not expert movers but mediocre. While moving the furniture into storage they broke our bookcase , chipped our dresser, chipped our bed frame ,and scratched our daughters crib so badly it splintered. After all that they demanded payment right away refusing to allow me to leave a deserted parking lot at 10pm. I also had to help by carrying the boxes in to the storage unit for several hours or it would never have been done. The email also states they would wrap and take apart furniture included . Only the tv was wrapped and they were completely unable to take apart furniture Vance would not take my calls all day until it was time to pay . As they would not let me leave a dark deserted parking lot until we paid (a slightly discounted amount only after insisting). The estimate of four hours was given by the company via email (also stating two bedroom in the email). we would have understood it if it had gone one or two hours past the estimate, but more than double is not acceptable. It's a complete SCAM! Vance will not answer our calls or texts asking for reimbursement for all the damage. All our boxes are in storage at the moment but we are very worried when we open them to see the damage. Whatever you do DO NOT use this company!!!! read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. You are not getting actual professional movers for the price, they will show up 1.5 hrs late (10:30 instead of 9am) and you are getting one very good foreman, another guy who is good but one or two completely useless random bodies who won't do anything until they are told, in a random rented truck. There will be no hustle and lots of texting FaceTiming talking and standing around until they are told to do something. The result will be the pictures below, they were not able to move two 1 bedrooms in a 13 manhattan street distance before 5pm for a building that required a COI and has a 5pm cutoff. As a result, we had to move everything in the pictures in ourselves on a tiny dolly through the lobby after 5pm as they were no longer allowed to do any work, embarrassing ourselves and angering our new building management while they stood around helpless. Not to mention, both my girlfriend and I were helping a lot throughout the move since we saw we would not finish anywhere close to in time. This took about 2 more hours after 5, and the move in was completely unorganized since we were rushing to do it ourselves. For the only thing I asked them to take care of, the couch, the chaise cushion went outside and sat completely unwrapped, no wrap, no blanket nothing until I said something. After this we were charged for the whole day rounding up for the half hour, and they are not cheap! SO TRUST ME WHEN I SAY HIRE REAL MOVERS AND NOT THIS COMPANY. read more

Not sure why this place only has 3 stars, because they were fantastic! These guys saved me! Other movers I hired showed up 8 hours after they were scheduled, and were entirely unprofessional and unresponsive. I was in a panic since I need to move out of my apt by the 31st. I got a quote from David almost immediately, and he was helpful and responsive throughout the process. The 4 guys got here way earlier than expected, and just finished the job in an hour and a half. Definitely the best experience I've had with movers. I had to do a last minute move because the original movers that I hired never showed up. I went on thumbtack and this company was one of the first to respond. David wright (the owner) is very professional, answered all questions i had and was able to set me up with 3 movers and a truck within a few hours. The 3 workers called when they were 5 minutes away and showed up on time. I believe their names were Andie, John and Wayne (hope i got the names right!) From the very beginning they were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. They showed up with all needed materials. Never gave any attitude and was extremely patient. I had a couple of stubborn furniture that was hard to remove from my apartment. They disassembled them without any hesitation and was able to get everything done in a timely manner. Even David wright texted me during the move to ensure that everything was going okay. I am so thankful to have found this moving company and I would recommend it ESPECIALLY for last minute moves!!!! Wow! What can I say about Eric, Luis and Jose other than they were proficient, professional and precise. My 2b apartment was packed for the most part. I had three items that needed to be broken down, dressers, end tables, tons of photos, art work and about 40 boxes. After assessing the situation, the guys loaded all of the boxes first and then the furniture. They packed the truck perfectly. I initially asked for two guys, but another was added to expedite a quicker move. After witnessing all of he work that was done, I'm grateful the extra guy came. The move took approximately 7 hours including the drive from east orange to trenton (60 miles). Once they arrived to my new home, another assessment was done for furniture placement and the truck was emptied quickly. Nothing was broken nor scratched. My furniture was assembled, payment rendered and they left. Awesome job and I would them again (but this is my last move) so they come highly recommended! read more

Eric and Luis were phenomenal. They arrived on time, were incredibly efficient, and were extremely polite (and funny!). They were so respectful of our property and conducted the move as seamlessly as we could have hoped. Eric and Luis even helped us take our old furniture that we did not want in the move out to the curb for us. They really go the extra mile to keep customers happy and satisfied. They handled all of the furniture gently. We just moved last Friday (July 28, 2017) and it was an extremely hot and sticky day. I did not hear them complain at all and they just kept working.David calls and lets you know if they are running early or late and gives you and ETA throughout the day if anything changes.
