I needed to move a very large antique French Armoire from my NYC apartment out to NJ. Get There Moving immediately responded to my request and promptly produced a certificate of insurance which my building requires. Because the piece was so heavy Get There Moving sent 4 movers who showed up at the scheduled time. After carefully wrapping it in blankets they managed to move it through doorway tolerances as small as 1 inch. Upon moving it out of the apartment we realized that the service elevator was a few inches too narrow. The movers patiently waited while I arranged for the super to come and help them disassemble the armoire which we initially did not think was possible. I picked Get There off their Yelp reviews and I'll confess I was a bit suspicious of the stellar string of reviews: what moving company could be that good? They. Are. That. Good. I booked them for a Brooklyn to Manhattan move on short notice (about a week) and Ed was super responsive. I sent in my list of items to move along with pictures and he quickly gave me a flat quote that is exactly what I paid - no surprises at all. The day of the move was so stress-free thanks to Chris, Matt and Casey. They were incredible - friendly, careful and quick. They even took it upon themselves to completely disassemble my bed (and put it back together) to ensure that there would be no risk of damage during the move. I can't sing their praises enough. Last time I moved in Brooklyn, I chose the movers that gave me the cheapest quote and I had a terrible experience, so when Get There gave me a much cheaper quote than any other company, I was wary. But the reviews and my friends' first-hand experiences were so good that I went with them, and I'm SO glad I did. Not only were Travis and his team able to arrive early, they finished a move with 2 pick-ups in different neighborhoods and a drop-off on a narrow, creaky old 3rd-floor walk-up, all of which was quoted to take 4-5 hours, in only 3.5 hours. Even with an almost 50% tip I was STILL paying less than any other company quoted me. Really great experience from start to finish, and I will absolutely call Get There Moving when I have to move again. They're 5 stars for a reason. I've used them twice, and both times, I weirdly enjoyed the move and trusted them completely. Both times, the guys were incredibly nice, and we chatted/joked/etc and they are the kind of people you want in your home and moving your things. They don't complain about taking apart furniture, removing a door, having to walk up a few flights of stairs etc. like other moving companies I've used. Five stars, are you kidding? I can't possibly be the only person who had a crappy experience with these guys. I thought I'd hit the jackpot when I saw all these great reviews, and they were slightly cheaper than my usual guys, so I went for it. It cost me more in the end though because these guys moved so slowly it took over an hour longer than usual to load the truck. I have moved every year for the past seven years, so I've had plenty of experiences with movers, and these guys were just ... slow. They took their time carrying things to the truck, they took smoke breaks, and there really just wasn't any sense of urgency at all. I will give them credit for wrapping everything in plastic wrap so nothing would shift in transit, but... That doesn't really matter when you drop a box of glassware from 6ft high, does it? Nope, as evidenced by the twenty broken glasses & mugs I just picked out of one of my boxes, after I watched one of the guys accidentally knock it off a way-too-high stack of other boxes on its way to the truck. It's not a great feeling to unwrap a box of your things, things you've grown attached to, gifts you've gotten over the years (yeah, we're big on our glassware), and watch them crumble apart in your hands. It's basically the opposite of Christmas. So in the end I spent way too much on subpar movers and I lost a bunch of stuff I really liked. Thanks, Get There! read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!! I've used Get There Moving twice in Brooklyn and had an incredible experience both times. The first time we were moving two different apartments in Williamsburg to a 3 story walk up in Carroll Gardens. We were given a GREAT price and told it would take 3 hours. I was thinking that wasn't enough time to load up two apartments and unload in a third but they did it! Our landlord in Carroll Gardens was incredibly insistent that everything was protected as to not hurt the door/stairs etc. and they assured her it would be fine... and it was! I was incredibly stressed out about it and they were super helpful in mediating her and keeping me in the loop. Our second move with them was out of the Carroll Gardens apartment and into one in Bay Ridge. They gave us another amazing quote and said it would take 3 hours. Due to the landlord monitoring every move we made from the bottom of the stairwell it took almost 2 hours to get everything out of our apartment. I was worried it would take forever to get it into the next one but once they parked, unloaded and got everything into our new apartment it had only taken 30 minutes. We did have an elevator in the new apt which helped immensely but still. Would recommend to anyone looking to move in NYC to get a quote from Get There Moving! My entire street has major construction going on the morning of the move, meaning theses guys got stuck parking their truck alllll the way down the street. 3. I was moving from manhattan all the way to south jersey. These guys handled my move with professionalism and good humor. They showed up on time and got everything moved and into the truck at record time. We had dissembled all the furniture down to their parts but we were worried that that still wasn't enough, but they handled everything. They came 15 minutes early and started the move. Got everything moved out of the apartment within 45 minutes. Wrapped all of the delicate things in moving blankets and loaded it all in a moving truck. It was time for my husband and I to finally move to Chicago from NYC after talking about it for about 5 years. My husband called around to a few moving companies. As were moving out of state, this was a bit more complicated than moving 20 blocks but eventually we settled with Get There Moving. Working with GTM was a delight. My husband communicated with their office staff over email several times and they were responsive and detailed every time. We gasped when we received a notification from our landlord that our elevator would be down for service during our move! But, the only aggravation there was having to pay GTM a bit more money for using the stairs vs. an elevator. The moving guys were not phased by it. The movers arrived on time with a crew of about 4 or 5 guys. Within 2.5 hours, they had moved our entire 2 bedroom apartment out into their truck. I was amazed! When the movers arrived in Chicago, the crew was cut down to 2 guys but they still moved everything in about 3-3.5 hours. Everyone we came into contact with was super friendly and easy going. BUT, what is most amazing is that NOTHING broke during the move. We have unpacked everything at this point and there has been no disappointment in the way our stuff was treated. In the past, we had moved 20 blocks within Queens and several items were broken (through a different company). These guys gave me the peace of mind that I didn't know I could have during a move! Travis, Emmett and Patrice ( i think) were my movers - They called an hour before the start of my window to offer to come early if I was ready... I sure was! (apparently this is rare). The team arrived 30 minutes before the start of my scheduled window and was finished within 1 hour and 45 minutes. I moved from a first floor walk up to a 3rd floor walkup. I had no issues paying the 3 hour minimum since they were so efficient and professional. They issued a COI to my building's management company promptly and well in advance of my scheduled move date. Seriously ... it makes me wish I was moving again soon (not really!) so I could use them ... hands down would recommend 10 out of 10 times for big or small moves. We're so glad we went with Get There Moving for our move on the recommendation of a friend who has used them twice. We moved during the COVID-19 crisis, so there were lots of layers of anxiety, but Ed was responsive and patient with us. Get There gave us what I thought was a very fair price for the job (half the cost of another major NYC moving company) and then was very accommodating when we asked if his team could move a couch and large wardrobe down to the curb for Craigslist pickups that we hadn't initially mentioned at a very reasonable charge of $30 extra per item. Doing a video walkthrough was great, and there were no surprise charges at the end. The movers themselves were super professional and kind, and came wearing masks. They got all our furniture down our set of narrow, twisty stairs and into the truck in about 35 minutes. We'd definitely use them for all future moves! read more

Chris, Casey, and Patrick showed up promptly at 9:00 a.m. Moved from Manhattan to a 4th-floor walk-up in Queens, including disassembly and reassembly of a sectional sofa, and somehow these guys got everything done in 2 hours and 45 mins from start to finish, crushing their 4-hr estimate. They charge a 3-hr minimum, but their rate was competitive and better than the other quotes I had gotten from other moving companies. But after our move yesterday, I can totally vouch for how great they are. This was an excellent experience. Nothing was damaged or broken.
