Having worked 5 years at a Yelp competitor and being fundamentally distrustful of this platform, I was definitely suspicious of the staggering ratings Get There Moving has consistently and exclusively received and I was more than a little anxious going in. But after our move yesterday, I can totally vouch for how great they are. This was an excellent experience. Nothing was damaged or broken. Both Ed (before the move) and Chris (on the day of) communicated early and often about delays or any other potential issues. The crew were extremely competent, warm, and accommodating. Moving is an inherently painful process, but Get There Moving made it so much better! To start, Ed is very responsive via email, has reasonable rates, and was on top of the COI w/mgmt.. On the day of the move, Chris the lead called to tell me he was early, then scoped out the move. Once they started, it was like an attack by a pack of moving ninjas! I largely stayed out of their way because otherwise I would've slowed them down. They were moving so fast it was mesmerizing to watch! If you're worried about them taking their sweet time bec they're charging by the hour, do not fear! They worked like they were being charged by the time, not charging by the time! Everything that I thought would be a big deal - large bed requiring disassembly/reassembly, stairs, things not in boxes etc were always met with "no big deal", "no problem", "I got this." I would rehire this company again. Their estimate was reasonable and Ed was very precise and thorough in getting my move set up, answering all my questions, providing proof of insurance, etc. Movers Zack, Jose and Corey showed up on time and were friendly, professional, safe, and efficient. They had the truck packed up in one hour and unloaded in roughly an hour and a half. They even set my bed frame and dining room table back up in the new place and placed all the boxes in the rooms for which they were marked. This company is great! read more

Moving with Get There was so pleasant and easy, I'm actually not dreading any future moves I may have to make. That's right, in the space of about a week they downgraded the agony level of moving from "soul-sucking" to "mere minor inconvenience." I chose Get There because of their stellar Yelp reviews (obviously) and their billing scheme: they have a two hour minimum for hourly jobs, then bill by the half hour. That means you are paying for the time your move actually takes. Another place I called was going to charge by the hour and also bill me for the time the truck took to reach me. No thanks! I found it really easy to communicate with them before moving day. There's an online inventory you fill out to get a quote. A few days later I realized I was going to have extra stuff so I called in to let them know...not a problem! I got a confusing message from PayPal that maybe my deposit bounced? Not a problem! I signed the contract at the last minute? Not a problem! Just...no problems at all. My moving guys were Wes and James. Their MO was: be pleasant, be careful, be efficient. They called when they were 15 minutes away, and got there right on time. Everything got wrapped up in blankets and/or plastic, even my Ikea stuff, so it wouldn't get scratched. On the other end they helped me get furniture placed where I wanted it -- but also pointed out that, if I actually put my bed in that particular spot, I wouldn't be able to reach my bookcase. Helpful AND honest! In all the move took a little two hours, leaving me with a whole afternoon to do the fun stuff: unpacking! A+, would move with Get There again. read more

These guys have TIGER BLOOD flowing through their veins, hands down the best NYC moving experience I've has was with Get There In the past I've often tried to use my friends to help me move- and as you'd guess, this is always a pain since you have to -Guilt Trip -Harass -Haze -Plead -Bribe ....And generally do whatever is necessary to convince your lazy friends to help move your stuff. In the end, they have no idea what they're doing and things get broken, lost, etc. When I contacted Get There for my recent move, from the get go I felt like I was dealing with professionals. They responded very quickly to my request and offered me a reasonable and STRAIGHT FORWARD quote based on the basic details of my move- no extra frills, hidden charges, or confusing pricing schemes that are so commonplace with other moving companies. They also were extremely helpful in dealing with my annoying management who has strict requirements for movers. When moving day finally came everything was a complete breeze, the guys were on time, and even gave me a call when they were getting close just to let me know they were almost there. The whole move of my large 1BR down 3 flights of stairs and up 2 flights was completed faster than I thought humanly possible (Tiger Blood). They wrapped up all my furniture/etc and packed everything safely and efficiently into the truck in no time at all, even helping me pack a few last minute things- these guys really know what they're doing. Even after a generous Tip for the guys, I felt like I was coming out ahead considering the service I had received. -They're friendly -Affordable -Organized -Clearly Experienced Movers -Licensed and Insured (was a MUST for my move) If you don't use them then you're a fool, I'll be telling all my friends about Get There. read more

These guys made my move so easy! I was nervous while looking for someone to hire, but the good email communication form Ed and Yelp reviews made me go with Get There Moving and I couldn't be happier with my choice. I will be sure to call them if I have any other moving/storage needs. Chris made sure to call me because they were running a mere 15 minutes late in the morning, which I really appreciated. The guys were very professional and efficient. Everything was done in an organized fashion, no unnecessary rushing or wasting any time. I felt that I could completely trust them with all of my belongings (and I was right). They treated everything with care and were sure to double check where everything needed to be placed during the move-in. GTM was great for my small move in terms of price as well, a lot of other guys wanted to charge me as if I was moving a full apartment or couldn't provide an insurance certificate. Disclaimer: I actually didn't move with them. The five star review is for their immediate refund of my deposit. I put down the $120 deposit for booking a move at the end of the month, and had to cancel. Within five minutes of emailing them, I got a refund notice from paypal that alerted me of the money being returned. I have never been met with such expediency in returning money. Five stars, hands-down. Like everyone else (except these guys, apparently), I hate moving. And like another reviewer on here, I generally don't like paying for things I can do myself. I initially didn't think hiring movers was worth it, but eventually my boyfriend and I decided to hire movers to combine our apartments because doing it alone or depending on friends to help sounded absolutely miserable and also like a recipe for disaster. SPOILER ALERT: IT WAS WORTH IT. You have to fill out an online form to get a quote, which involves estimating how many boxes and pieces of furniture you have -- I was a little worried about estimating correctly, so I followed up with a really long and rambling note about how I wasn't exactly sure how much stuff we'd have. Matt followed up with a quote within 15 minutes and assured me that as long as the estimate was relatively accurate, it'd be fine. The quote was between 2-3 hours to combine two apartments (bedrooms, really -- we didn't have much furniture between the two of us) at $120/hr, 2-hour minimum. For reference, our individual apartments were about two miles apart (Bed-Stuy and Prospect Lefferts Gardens), and our new place is in the middle (Crown Heights). I couldn't fathom how this move would take between 2-3 hours because it absolutely would have taken us all day. BUT THEY DID IT. It took Emmett and Scott 2 hours and 15 minutes and they charged us for 2 hours. That plus tip totaled $300 -- it was an *extremely* hot and humid day (September 1st), so we tipped $30 each. They were totally upfront with the cost and it was an incredibly good deal considering how excellent they were. They gave us a 2 hour window for showing up -- between 11am and 1pm -- and they arrived at 11:30, calling 45 minutes before to give me an update. My room was packed into the van within 20 minutes and my boyfriend's room took about 35 minutes. Those times included wrapping some furniture in pads and shrink wrap and we each lived on the second floor of our respective apartments. Our new place was on the 5th floor with a small elevator, and they had a great system for unloading and getting everything inside efficiently and safely ("We have a system for everything!"). Emmett and Scott were SO friendly, reassuring, and easy-going. I was worried that the elevator in our new building was too small, but they totally rolled with it. We got them some water and snacks and everyone was happy. I'm recommending them to all of my friends, and if we ever move again in NYC we'll hire them again, no question. read more

WOW! There is a reason these guys have such high praise. I moved this weekend from NYC to VA. Get There Moving was not only very reasonably priced, but also fast and efficient. They were early for the job, handled all my furniture and boxes very deftly. At no point was I worried about the safety or future of my items or my apt. I moved from Brooklyn to Boston yesterday and Get There was instrumental in...getting me there. But more importantly, they got all of my belongings to Boston in one piece, quickly and efficiently. Get There provided me with a quote very quickly when I emailed them and were happy to answer any questions I had. The movers, Zach and James, arrived at 8 am on the dot, and though they had only what looked to me to be a smallish van, they fit everything without a problem, including a queen-sized mattress and box spring, giant couch, dresser, desk, two bookcases, and many, many boxes of books, kitchen appliances, and clothes. Not only were they able to fit all of my stuff into a small space, they were able to get it out of my apartment, down three flights of a narrow, winding staircase. Very impressive. There were no hidden costs or fees either--I paid exactly the price quoted to me (plus a tip, of course), which is rare with interstate moves. Moving with GTM is one of the best decisions I have ever made. These guys are super punctual, professional, and friendly. They simply made moving, the most chaotic process in my mind, into a zen practice. This is definitely a 10 star experience. Even though they are nearly perfect, I still have a small suggestion - maybe these guys can be equipped with the abrasive gloves rather than moving with bare hands. My boyfriend and I were moving A LOT of stuff from our one bedroom to a two bedroom. Pretty much every quote we got seemed outrageous for a two block move, but the quote from these guys was reasonable, they were available the day we needed them, and their reviews were good, so we decided to go ahead and book it. They gave us a window of 1pm to 3pm on a Saturday, and showed up at 1:15. Perfect. They couldn't have been nicer or easier to talk to you. An unexpected family emergency took my boyfriend out of town for about 24 hours during the two days before the move, so between that and my work schedule, we didn't pack quite as well as we would have liked (hangers and bedding in garbage bags, a bunch of loose rubbermaid bins, etc). I was pretty horrified and apologized a few times, but they were totally fine with this and willing to work with it. As I said, between the two of us we had a lot of stuff. They got the move done in the amount of time they said they would while still being careful with our stuff. I never felt like they were rushing, but they were still totally efficient. Also, when our futon didn't quite fit in the living room of the new place the way we wanted it to, they even offered a few suggestions and helped us move it around the room. Super helpful. A few things got a bit damaged along the way (a chip in the bottom on the nightstand, mainly), but these things happen. Overall, I was happy with the job they did, would recommend them highly, and will totally consider using them for future moves. read more

If you are not from Brooklyn, you may at first be off put by the graffiti laden truck that shows up to move your stuff, but I assure you this is commonplace in Brooklyn, A crew of 3 showed up right on time to move my large 1 bedroom from one part of Queens to another. The crew were very down to earth, and worked quickly and professionally. In fact, these guys worked so fast, that I was actually able to save some money off the original estimate because they finished faster than expected. IF YOU ARE ON A BUDGET, AND DONT HAVE ANYTHING EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE OR SENTIMENTALLY VALUABLE GO WITH GET THERE MOVING, YOU WON'T REGRET IT! As I just stated, my only caution would be to people with very expensive or fragile belongings. Get There Moving works fast, and at a great price. As a result, they may slack a little bit in just how delicately they move your belongings. They also kind of placed everything all over the place in the new apt, which left me with a lot of shifting around to do. Overall I would definitely recommend based on price and speed! Just an incredibly quick, smooth moving experience - about as pleasant as moving can possibly be. They came in with an online quote significantly less than several other places based on the exact same estimate of stuff to be moved - which I thought was much more reasonable, as my girlfriend wasn't moving a whole apartment worth of stuff, but still... that sort of thing makes me oddly nervous in a potential "too good to be true" way. Instead, moving with Get There did in fact turn out to be too good to be true. Communication was awesome throughout - quote arrived quickly after submitting their online form via Yelp. They provided a two hour window around which they planned to arrive. They did get there about 15-20 minutes later than that window, but gave us a heads-up before the window even started that their previous move and traffic would lead to this (and frankly, we needed the extra time to be awake and ready anyway). I've moved often in this city. Well, its NYC... perhaps not often by NYC standards, but... often enough. I've been fortunate to never have a horrible experience, but this was simply the best. I've never experienced a move that (a) never felt rushed/hectic/stressed, yet (b) ended in the shortest window of time possible. The move was out of a large elevator building but into a three flight walk-up, to an apartment about 1.5-2 miles away (basically, Flatbush to South Slope). Scott and Emmitt got the move done smoothly, safely and efficiently in maybe 2 hours 15 min, and only charged us the flat 2 hour rate. They even seemed to actually contextually read what we wrote on the boxes and placed boxes marked "fragile - dishes" in the kitchen area, boxes marked "sheets" in the bedroom, etc. And they're pleasant companions for an afternoon to boot. Again, can't say I've experienced a moving horror story here, but I'd never before completed a move feeling like the movers sincerely cared more about getting us in smoothly and as quickly as possible without ringing up as much of an hourly charge as they possible could until this move. read more

Wes and Owen saved what was quickly turning into a clusterf**k of epic proportions on our moving day! My boyfriend and I were moving from NYC to DC and had rented a truck from Budget (never again); we hired Get There to help us load up the truck. Wes and Owen arrived early to our apt. ready to start moving. Problem was, we were stuck at Budget. The truck we had rented was broken (Budget apparently hadn't thought to tell us about this before we arrived) and Budget had no other trucks to offer us. All they could give us was a significantly smaller van... A van... that we had to help the Budget guys dig out of the snow and unload, because it was inexplicably filled to the brim with wooden planks, scrap metal and other construction materials. Anyway, before this turns into a Budget review... Fast forward and I finally arrive at my apt. an hour late, with a van instead of a truck. Wes and Owen had been patiently waiting, and did not bat an eyelash. They were incredibly empathetic to the situation. It was obvious that all of our furniture wouldnt fit in the van, but I was shocked at how much the guys DID make fit. They packed us quickly, efficiently and smoothly. We worked together to determine the Tetris of what to pack and what to leave behind. They were done in only an hour, and were able to charge me the minimum (2 hour) charge despite the fact that they had spent an hour waiting for me. I was floored at the service and care I received and would recomment Get There Moving to anyone without hesitation. read more

My move with Travis and Emmitt went so shockingly smooth. I oversee corporate moves as part of my job, and they're always so nerve-wracking. Doubly so when it's your own precious stuff, like the ceramic wizard you made in 10th grade who's been a staple in every apartment you have lived in since. These two quickly showed me I had nothing to worry about, not even the wizard. I underestimated how much stuff I'd end up with during the quote process, but they got everything from the Upper East Side to Fort Greene even quicker than originally estimated. They were also the lowest price quoted--no charge for packing materials like tape and blankets, and no Manhattan or driving time surcharges. Docking one star for one minor annoyance: the wardrobe box I requested ended up being super tiny compared to ones I've used in the past. I could've used at least another two, which they didn't have on hand. Overall, would absolutely use again and/or recommend to any friends moving in the NYC area. read more

I hate moving. I have two cats, so not only does packing and schlepping all my stuff stress me out, it stresses my cats out--which, in turn, stresses me out even more. I also hate paying for things I can do myself, like eggs and toast at a diner, or moving companies when I can just rent a U-Haul and guilt some friends into helping out. All of that being said, I would highly recommend Get There Moving. From the initial email, they were friendly, prompt, and efficient--all things I value in movers. They worked with me on how many movers to get in order to be within my price range, and the rates were quite fair. As for the day of the move . . . Corey and Zach were great! They both showed up smiling, worked very fast and very efficiently, and we had the whole move done in under 3 hours (I expected it to take 3-4 hours with 3 movers). I'm not sure what I expected, but two friendly guys who were good at what they do has NOT necessarily been my experience with movers before, so this was a real pleasure . . . Well, as much as moving ever can be. Honestly though, we completed the move and I felt at peace the entire time. It was nothing short of a miracle. My cats, on the other hand, well . . . They're still a bit traumatized. But, you know, because cats. Side note: do not be afraid to help! I've had so many bad experiences of movers that I was prepared to pay a little extra to work with these guys because of their excellent Yelp reviews and this time Yelp delivered. These guys were great. We were quoted a flat rate based on a list of furniture I emailed over and estimated number of boxes. The guys (Ben and team) were punctual, polite and hard working. All the furniture was carefully wrapped. When it came to payment I was a little nervous as usually there are suddenly new mystery charges or intimidation over the tip.....I was pleasantly surprised that the rate quoted was the rate charged. I never thought I would see the day that I would rate a moving company 5 stars, but Get There deserve it and I would recommend them in a heartbeat. In fact, I already have. read more

These guys were great. I chose them for the good reviews, but more than that, I chose them for the LACK OF BAD REVIEWS. Think about it for a moment. Moving within the 5 boroughs is one of the most stressful things a human can do. Hands down. So to have 42 happy customers, is remarkable. Our move was pretty complicated. We were a family of 4 moving out of a 4th floor walk-up. We have 17 years of accumulated stuff between us, so a good chunk had to be separated out and put into storage. There were 2 separate destinations for the stuff to be moved into. And... it had to happen in one week. They ended up sending crews out to us for 4 separate days of packing and moving. They organized and packed 3 cube trucks full of stuff and unpacked it at the two destinations. And they were pleasant company as they did it all. So like I say, these guys are great. read more

We had to move very last minute (long story) and I messaged Get There Moving through Yelp (where I found them). I was so lucky that they had availability on a Sunday! They were quick to reply here and via email so I could sign the contract and pay the deposit. It was so much less expensive and less hassle than getting a U-Haul and doing it ourselves. They were even able to come a little earlier than scheduled, which made my life easier. It took seriously 2 hours to move a small 1 BR apartment from an EV 4th floor walk-up to an elevator building in Williamsburg, driving included. All of these 5 star reviews are no joke - these guys rock. I had Tom and George and they were great. They were thoughtful, quick, and professional. Emails communicate was always returned promptly and prior to the move George called me to let me know when he was 30 min away. They wrapped everything in blankets and plastic and brought all of their own materials, and put my bed together at my new place (this was my first time using movers so I have no idea if that's standard but I appreciated it all the more!). They placed my furniture exactly where I needed it to go (being a girl living alone, this is much appreciated). My furniture is in great shape - including a 5' x5' ikea bookshelf that was a monster and a very heavy dresser. I'm so glad I found these guys on yelp because they really did make this move no-hassel - which also means that next time I need to move I already know who to call. read more

Arrived right on time and transported my goods from Chicago to Brooklyn in one day. Very friendly and professional. Underestimated the amount that I needed transported, but they were able to fit it all in the sprinter van to my surprise and excitement. I'm thankful to have finally found a reasonably priced moving company that eases the stress of moving as opposed to amplifying it. These guys have helped me a few times over the last 3 years, both with smaller and large moves. I know I can trust them to show up on time, with the proper equipment, thorough wrapped and protect my items to get it to the new location quickly and without damage.. I used these guys to move from the West Village to the UWS. They were so fast I was shocked! They also gave me some tips for saving money which I was so grateful for (i.e., they told me that if I started unwrapping things from their blankets while they moved everything else in, I might avoid paying for an extra hour). All three guys were super nice and I felt like they were really trying to get things done quickly but also taking great care of my stuff. I will definitely be using them again if I ever move.
