I literally made a Yelp account for the sole purpose of giving these guys a glowing review. Moving is so stressful, but I immediately felt like I was in good hands when they showed up to grab my stuff. They worked like machines -- just two movers were able to get a big dresser, desk/bookshelf, chair, mattress, mirror, and ~10 boxes/bags of varying sizes and fragilities across Brooklyn within two hours. I know they would've moved even more items I hadn't planned to take, with similar timing. They wrapped and protected my prized dresser and even moved two large plants for me without a single leaf lost! I was truly amazed at the speed, efficiency, and care they showed throughout the move. I would absolutely use their services again and will tell my friends (and everyone I meet) to use them for their next NYC move. I'm currently sitting in my new apartment feeling so much lighter because of how easy this experience was. I had no idea what to expect. Typically when you make a move, you look for a big brand name for Security and experience. I decided to use their services, and I was impressed on many levels. Buyer Beware. I used Andy's several times in my 20s for simple one bedroom moves which were been efficient and cheap. I made the huge mistake of using them again in February 2022 for a two bedroom move with a family and kid. Movers showed up late and behind schedule and then tried to upcharge me (similar to other reviews) for having "too much stuff." I guess most people acquiesce to the upcharges because it's not worth the hassle once the movers have already showed up and you have taken a day off from work, etc. (and that's how they get you!). I instead showed them my email listing all the stuff we had to move and told them I expected to be moved at the agreed price. The movers refused to move us and left because they "didn't have enough time". Bottom line - if you're a 20 something moving a bed and some boxes, go ahead and use these guys. But if you need an "adult move", pay up and go with a reputable company. read more

We used Chinese Movers for our move from NYC to CT in March 2021 and absolutely loved working with them. Booking them was extremely easy - almost too easy. There was no official quote and confirmation process, so I was nervous that these guys wouldn't show up. They showed up early and loaded all of our stuff in less than 2 hours. They got to our house, took a lunch break and unloaded everything even quicker. We only had one mishap where the bottom of our foam mattress got caught on something and it ripped. We were able to fix it with some duct tape. Everything else arrived wrapped and without a scratch. The two guys that Andy sent were very friendly and efficient. Their English wasn't great, but they know enough to speak to my fiancé, who does not speak Chinese. I spoke to them in Cantonese. They were more comfortable with me and even told a few jokes at my expense. One piece of advice - Make sure you give Andy a FULL list of items to be moved. They were exceptional! I requested a quote through Yelp and since that time, Andy was very responsive to all of my questions and emails. The quote he gave was very reasonable and he provided us with COIs quickly as well. On the day of the move, the three movers arrived on time and worked very fast. They wore masks the entire time. There were some unexpected delays with the elevator of my building since 2/3 of the elevators were nonfunctional on the day of our move, but movers took it all in stride. Moving is always stressful but these guys definitely made the day easier for us. Just remember to have cash payment on hand the day of since they do not accept any other forms or payment. The Chinese Movers Team were GREAT!!! They came early and went straight to work. They disassembled all our furniture and fit everything in the truck. When they got to the new house they assembled everything back and placed it were we wanted the furniture. Great Team. Very reliable and fast. Contacted Andy to inquire about a quote and was promised for an agreed quote amount and booked the dates. Two guys shown up on moving day with a smaller truck around 850am. Took them over 3 hours to pack into this smaller truck which the condo manager called me 4x times they are still holding up the moving elevator until 1-1:30pm. Took them after 2:30pm to show up at our new place which we waited. We have moved 40% our stuffs ourselves and was promised to get my quote amount lowered, but ended up paying same quote amount and was asked for a higher tip (which I gave them 20% tip- which we can give them none). The taller guy seems nicer, but he used dolly to move 3 boxes at each up to move up the stair which ruined our steps. We have quite a few items such as dining table, shelf, bed frames, etc were damaged with no compensation even contacted Andy. Disappointed and regretted. Will not recommend and will not use them at all. read more

Fantastic experience with this company. The main manager/owner speaks English and booked everything the way we wanted. You have to be specific with the # of furniture pieces and # of boxes as they quote you based on that ( we went over our estimate and spoke to the manager the morning of the move to notify him, the price was very reasonably adjusted according to the new #). The movers were an hour late however we're incredibly efficient and fast while still being careful. They moved a couple of glass tables and a tv with no issues. Any furniture that required disassembly to put into the truck was reassembled upon delivery in the location I wanted it. While the actual movers did not speak English, there were no major issues, we were able to point where things should go or what things needed to be moved ( google translate app also came in handy). read more

I can't speak highly enough of Andy and his two colleagues, who were incredibly fast, efficient, strong and conscientious about taking great care with our things. They came with tools, blankets, an industrial size roll of heavy-duty plastic wrap, and dollies and hand-trucks-- in short, everything professionals need to move people from one home to another. They were on time (and texted us 10 minutes before they arrived), and placed everything where we asked them to! The unbelievable part was the price-- a mere, small percentage of anything anyone else quoted us. We tipped generously, of course, as was well- deserved! I used this company 7 years ago when I bought my first home and they were great. Fast, friendly, efficient and honest. I recently moved out of that same house and to my shame I got sucked in by a scam moving company called "Call My Mover" (which has the same owner as "Tri-State Area Moving & Storage Corp.") who literally extorted me. As in they packed up only half my house and then demanded an unreasonable sum of money to drop my stuff off. So there I am, hat in hand, with half my stuff in the house and the closing the next day. Chinese Movers SAVED me. I called them last minute and they showed up the next morning, first thing and even 30 minutes early. They packed their truck up with all my remaining possessions in under 2 hours and when they dropped it off that day, I swear it was like lightening. Heard about this company through Yelp (thanks, Yelpers!). Booked the Chinese Movers to move furniture from my office in Sunset Park and my studio apartment to my new apartment down the block. The movers were extremely efficient--both locations took 3 hours total, and it would've been shorter if my office building's loading dock had told the movers where to park ahead of time, which added another 30 minutes, but Andy and his team were patient. They were respectful and careful with my belongings, and professional. I was very happy with their service and would definitely hire them again. I also picked them because they were in my budget. Chinese Movers moved me on new years day this year. This is the second time I hired them--the first time was in 2014, when I saw their truck in the neighborhood where I lived and gave them a call. This is the third time that I have used Chinese Movers and it was a great experience. I scheduled through Andy, who was super responsive and very patient with all of the requirements from the management company at our new apartment. On the day of our move, the crew arrived on time and didn't stop working for almost four hours, until the job was done. They both wore their masks the entire time. We have a table and a painting that they weren't expecting -- apparently I'd left those off the list of items to move -- so they charged us a bit more but they let us know before they started and the price was still very fair. We just did a move with these guys yesterday from Williamsburg to Jackson Heights. It went smoothly. They called ahead of time to give us a heads up that they were running half an hour late, which only gave us a bit more time to pack some loose items. They arrived with 3 guys, one started wrapping our 'soft' furniture with shrink wrap, one helped take down our apartment door (swung in the way of moving) and the third guy was moving boxes. So yes, there was no one in the truck so my husband and I took turns to keep a lookout throughout the move. We were expecting that they would pad all our furniture but they didn't so you'll have to point to the ones you cared most about otherwise it's shrinkwrap or no cover at all. There were a few items I asked to be shrinkwrapped - a sofa backrest and bench cushion but they insisted it'll be fine in the open bin. I wound up wrapping them myself along with a few white shell and leather chairs. I'm glad I did coz some things left unwrapped had dust smears (no biggie). Like I said, if you care about it, you'll have to chip in a wrap a few things. It had snowed so cover your floors if you don't want them wet. We did that at the new place, not with the old one - I have yet to go back and clean those floors. Overall, a great experience. They were careful with our things. We had 2 couches, 2 tv consoles (100 & 200lbs), bed, gigantic speakers, a number of other pieces of furniture and 40+ boxes. All moved for about $200-500 less than what other movers quoted. That plus they're flat rate yet super fast. Finished the move in 4 hours, including the 40 mins worth of stupid traffic on the BQE. Fantastic value. Great service. I called for a quote, was given a quote similar to other moving companies. One of the partners in this outfit showed up shortly after to verify my needs and agreed that the original quote was accurate, even gave me 25 bucks off. Awesome, book me up. Moving day comes and the movers show up on time which is awesome. They worked hard and fast (3 Fl walkup is not easy). We're on our way to my new apartment! When we get there there's a complication there are stairs that they need to go up in an elevator building. They say they have never encountered this before and there will be an extra charge. With all my belongings locked in their truck, they begin negotiating with me on the street on how much more I would pay, they start at 30% more than the original quote before tip, (which is still on me. Great thanks!) As a side note, it is fucking awesome to have to negotiate with 3 guys on the side of the street while looking at a truck full of all your belongings. What's going to happen next if I don't agree to your demands? Fucking people. I didn't have a great time. Moving sucks. I'd love to move across the city through traffic to a street with no parking for the moving truck, said nobody ever. There were complications to be sure, I should of stated up front that there would be an additional set of stairs to go up at the new apartment and part of that is on me. The movers did a fine job and mostly got everything there in one piece. Moving fucking sucks, its hectic, stressful and expensive. PS. After writing this wall of text I read a comment from Ray B. I was looking around for a fairly priced company and I wasn't very successful until my friend recommended Chinese Movers. She used them and said they were great. I called and got a quote and it was much more fair in my opinion. The day of the move, 3 men came and dismantled everything and swiftly moved everything out of my apt. When they arrived at the house, they reassembled and place things were I need them to go. The moving experience with them was seamless and headache free. They only thing I would complain about is that they didn't tell me Bridge Toll was not included. I assumed it was since I gave them the address before receiving a quote. read more

A traumatic experience. I have moved in NYC for twice before, and these movers are arguably the worst I ever came across. Response is quick! Price is fair. But these are the only good things I can say about them. Maybe we just came across some bad movers. They act like spoiled kids and are very slow doing their work. We scheduled a moving at 8:30 a.m. on June.30. The movers were late for 8 minutes with iced tea in their hands. They did not apologize at all for the lateness. We have more stuff than what we described when we asked for the quote, but not that much. (The quoted price was $725, and eventually the price rose, not unfairly, to $800.) I think this is not an uncommon scenario, but the two movers were COMPLAINING ALL THE TIME how much more stuff they ended up moving. They were literally complaining in our face! They were also VERY SLOW compared to other movers we had experienced before. They are just barely as strong as an average healthy grown man. Honestly, many of our male friends would have been stronger and faster than them. As they moved so slowly and complained so much, we ended up HELPING THEM MOVE. When we proposed that we could help them move some stuff, they accepted that as if it they were entitled to it! After the moving, we were ourselves physically exhausted. Some other details to illustrate just how annoying they are. When we counted stuff, we regarded a small window AC as a case. They complained that it was too heavy for a case. When traveling to the new apartment, they asked us to take subways on our own because their truck can not fit 4 people; we took subways and showed up 30 minutes later than them. When we arrived, they were sitting smoking cigarettes at the doorstep and complained that we were too late. Our new apartment is on the ground floor and we said there would be no steps at the new apartment. It actually does have 3-4 shallow steps (each about 8 centimeters high) at the doorway. Because of that, they accused that we cheated. They also broke a nice hat rack I have. They DID NOT APOLOGIZE at all, and instead they commented that my hat rack was of low quality in the first place. I understand that things could get broken during a moving, but hey, at least express that you are SORRY, okay? To conclude this marvelous moving experience, they pushed for a tip when we didn't leave them. I angrily refused, which is something I'd never regret. read more

Unfortunately, my experience with Chinese Movers was awful. Being that I had no furniture (other than a small desk) to move and the job took less than one hour, I was still overcharged after we had already settled on a price. We agreed via text for the amount of things I had on $200. When here, they changed it to $300 and when that was given, they aggressively hounded us for a tip. The one piece of furniture I did have, a small desk, was scratched up so badly that my paint is still chipping all over, despite the fact that there were no marks on it prior to the move. Altogether, they did not keep their deal and were extremely rude. I was very excited to use them! I am saddened that it did not work out smoothly. I hope others have a better experience. Additionally, the movers complained throughout the move saying how heavy the boxes were (well that was why I hired movers and spent a lot of money doing so!) Three movers there and only one ever moved anything. Best of luck if you do use them! Oh, and they also threatened to leave with all of my belongings in the truck if I did not pay $100 more than originally agreed upon (plus tip). I even overestimated on the number of boxes that I had. I used CM twice several years ago. The first time I chose a flat rate, and the second time an hourly rate. Even though I had more stuff the second move, I saved hundreds of dollars compared to the flat rate move. If you're the type of mover that pre-boxes/pre-disassembles everything for a quick and easy move, there's no reason to request a flat rate. In fact, the movers did such a quick job on my second move, they all took a break literally after 15 minutes on the job to run the clock. Obviously, they didn't take any breaks during the flat rate move. That didn't sit well with me, but what can you do. They broke a piece of Ikea furniture on the second move as well, but that's to be expected. I guess that says something of the moving experience in NYC. read more
