Overall, our experience with Teddy for our move was positive. It was good from the start. After connecting with Dam over email, it was also easy to schedule the virtual tour for a quote. Dam was very responsive, clear, and addressed all my questions without being too sales-y and showed genuine interest in our needs. On moving day, the team arrived before the 7am-9am specified time, which was very impressive. They also kindly gave us an extra 20 minutes to get our kids out the door before starting the process inside the house. The team moved quickly! They moved out our 4-room house + packing the kitchen + packing an extra, say, 25 boxes in under 4 hours. A glass piece of an [expensive] lamp broke, but it's replaceable. Plus, nothing on the destination-side appears to be broken, and that's also super impressive. The only thing that rubs me the wrong way is that when the team arrived on the destination side, we were told all the boxes were going to go into one room, not in the rooms I had painstakingly labeled on all the boxes I packed ahead of time. That was 110 boxes, mind you. When I spoke with Dam after the move, he listened to my post-move feedback, including this surprise. When I heard back from him the next day, apparently the team said we weren't sure what room the boxes should go into and that they weren't labeled, but that is B.S. because I labeled all the boxes. So, this ultimate interaction leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Dam and his management did offer me a $50 refund for the inconvenience. I would still recommend Teddy - perhaps for a smaller room so you don't have to move your boxes to other rooms when you want to unpack. read more

Absolutely the best "move" on my part to hire Teddy's Moving and Storage! Momo was very pleasant to work with on the phone. He gave me a flat rate, rather than charge per hour. I had to add some last minute items, so the price went up a bit, but considering the exceptional job that was done, it was worth every penny. What I like is that either Momo or Frank answered the phone right away. The moving men were a great bunch of guys who were polite and worked well as a team. I was surprised at their efficiency and ability to move all of the boxes and furniture in about 2 hours. The truck was new and clean. The men did not leave any garbage behind. Thinking about a move with Teddy Moving and Storage? This was our experience. We had to move out of our apartment to temporary quarters so the floor could be replaced after a flooding incident. We were away for some 2 months while the work was accomplished. Teddy moved us out; stored our possessions; and moved us back. In so doing: * They crushed a custom-built oak desk. Cost to repair: $1,350 * They damaged the frame of an $8,300 A. Rudin Sofa. Cost to repair: $850. * In storage a $2,500 Safavieh area handmade rug suffered water damage. Cost to repair: $250 But that's only part of the story. They were scheduled to move us back into our apartment on a Friday and to replace our personal goods where they belonged (clothes into the closets, correct items into drawers, etc.). They arrived mid-afternoon after the scheduled delivery window and frantically began unpacking things. But the boxes had not been properly marked and they were unable to provide the service we had paid for. They acknowledged this and refunded the charge. We did the unpacking. They were unable to complete the move-in on Friday as scheduled so we had to relocate back to our temporary quarters over the weekend, after expecting to re-occupy our apartment that Friday afternoon. Our living room and bedroom rugs had been dried out and then rolled up by our apartment staff after the flooding incident. Teddy had taken them and stored them. When the Teddy crew came back on Monday to finish the move, they refused to roll out these rugs because they had picked them up already rolled. Instead they proceeded to replace all of our living room and bedroom furniture on the bare floors while the rolled-up carpets lay together in the living room. I protested, but Teddy management was adamant. Rolling out the rugs was not their responsibility. So we had to hire our building staff to move all of the furniture aside, roll out the carpets, and then replace the furniture. After some negotiations, Teddy was relatively generous in covering some of the cost of damage to our furniture. We had explored the cost of 3rd party insurance but decided against it as we would have been required to insure the entire shipment, not select items, at a very high cost. Accordingly Teddy was required only to cover us at 60 cents per pound which, according to their initial communication, would have been $270 for the desk, sofa, and rug. However, after further consultation and consideration, they agreed to cover $1,000 of the cost. The next time we move, we will find another company. read more

I reached out to Teddy Moving via Yelp when I was planning my move from NJ to Astoria. I had reached out to a bunch of places prior, but Teddy was one of the more competitively priced companies I found. Although they weren't the cheapest, I liked that the quote was based on items rather than the total move time. My first interaction was with Momo. Even though it was fairly late at night, he got me a quote within 2 hours. I had many changes to my inventory list through the 2 weeks I was in contact with him, but he was always quick to respond and updated my quote accordingly. The day of the move, we had Ivan and Nikola. They were both great and super punctual! Our time frame was between 7 - 9AM and they arrived at exactly 7AM. They wrapped up all our furniture items quickly and loaded the truck in about 3 hours. We had more items than I had accounted for, so this did add a bit to our quote. Dam called me to go over the additional items I had and the updated cost, which was very reasonable. At our new apartment, they were super quick to unload everything. They made the moving process as painless as possible. Our total came out to around $1400 + 20% tip for a 3BR move. Definitely recommend Dam and the Teddy team! read more

Well, it turns out Teddy Moving is by far the best moving company I've ever used (and I've moved a few times before!). From the moving consultant to the moving crew every single person was very professional, thorough and most importantly very friendly! It was our first long distance move (We moved from Jersey City to Massachusetts) which can be very stressful but the team made me feel very comfortable by answering all my questions very quickly. I recently used Teddy Moving and overall had a great experience (with 2 caveats hence why I'm docking 1 star). From the administrative side, they were extremely easy to deal with. The back office person (Momo) who was responsible for scheduling our move was very responsive, explained everything clearly, and was able to procure COI for the apartment building easily and quickly. The movers (led by Yvan) were great as well. They were efficient and didn't break any items. They were also friendly and listened to instructions we gave around caring for certain items. Teddy brought enough blankets / packaging materials to safely transport all our belongings. My only issue was the truck they used had a very low bottom and scratched the pavers of the driveway a bit. I didn't make a stink about it as it wasn't the movers fault but it's costly damage nonetheless. read more

The only furniture pieces I was bringing with me was a couch (disassembled), a mattress, and a dresser---the rest were boxes and misc items like a bike. A quote I solicited from a different moving company was more than $2300. And then I found Teddy. These guys moved my stuff for less than half the price. Their sales representative Dam was extremely helpful and professional. We chose a date that worked for me on a pretty short notice, and at 7 AM on the chosen date the movers were at my address. They took care of everything while I was getting breakfast (it was 7 AM, remember!). In Philadelphia they managed to park that monstrous truck in the City Center, and moved me without any issues into my new building, which, by the way, is very picky about in its move-in policy. In particular, Teddy has provided me with a certificate of insurance that adhered to the building's requirements. My only complaint is that Teddy promised to call me 15 minutes before they arrive, and they only called me when they were already outside. But I would take moving problems of this scale on any of my moving days. I would definitely recommend Teddy to my friends who are still in New York, and would use their services again if I can. read more

This company was amazing from start to finish with our long distance move. They came into my home and assessed my inventory leaving no surprises on the move date. We requested they stop over at my fathers house to grab a few larger items and they were very accommodating. Momo and Dam were the office contacts and they were excellent with communicating our quote and being specific with the inventory of items and the idea of what to expect the day of. The actual movers - Arber, Marco, and Jhalil were phenomenal! They took their time and disassembled and wrapped all my furniture and reassembled in my new home. My only advice for anyone doing a move, have all your boxes done and labeled so they know where to place it at the destination - i.e. master bedroom, kitchen, basement, etc. They start with all the boxes and then they wrap it up with the disassembly and packaging of the furniture. Super efficient, showed up early, called to let me know they were on the way, refused any food and drinks and They finally let me get some water for them. Laser focused...attention to detail. At the end of the move, they put me on speakerphone with their office and requested my feedback and they called me back two weeks later. Used them to move from Queens to Long Island. They ended up damaging a few pieces, which normally wouldn't bother me, except for the fact that they seemed pretty avoidable. When the team first arrived, four guys showed up to help us move out of our 3 bedroom apartment. Seemed like the right number of guys, but at some point one person left, then things got slower. They didn't leave our apartment till 2 pm (which seemed like a really long time since we took apart most of our furniture and they arrived at 8 am). My husband said he noticed the hood of their truck was up and wasn't sure if there was something wrong with the truck that caused the delay. When they got to our house, it was 5 (about right considering how late they left our apartment) and we ended up helping them move our boxes into our house so that they wouldn't be here all night. The next day, we found some damage to our stuff which and emailed them about it: - our master bed frame was notably chipped on two sides of it because they didn't wrap it -one of our lamp shades was notably scratched with a pretty large dirt mark. They packed this into a box for us. - we had a large terrazzo outdoor coffee table where two legs broke off, I believe because of how it was carried. When we emailed about this they suggested that we might have damaged it if we had moved it after they left - which was not true - we didn't bother trying to pick it up. They refunded us some money (not the value of the items so we could replace it, but an amount based on the weight of the items), which was fine, but I was mostly irked because they suggested we damaged our own outdoor table. Also, they didn't properly wrap our bed frame (which we took apart before they arrived), which I was really surprised about. Couple that with the fact we ended up helping them move our boxes in, our experience didn't quite match up to the five star reviews I see on here. The movers and everyone we dealt with was so nice and pleasant. They were incredibly responsive to all my emails and I wish I had better things to say, but I likely wouldn't use them again, and wouldn't recommend them to anyone with furniture that they'd like to keep long term and would be heartbroken if they were damaged. read more

I thought their rate was good, but then the movers forced me to pay more than 35% per person as a tip after doing a terrible job. They broke a bunch of my things WITHOUT telling me, and deeply scratched my floors. I'm a young woman living on her own, and they aggressively pushed me to give them way more than I was comfortable with paying and way more than they deserved. They told me that they would have to tell the company I had "too much stuff," and then the company would charge me a lot more. I could have understood where they were coming from, but then they said if I gave them a big tip, they wouldn't have to report anything. It was clear I was being scammed, but it's scary having two grown men stare you down, threaten you, and demand a tip. One of the guys left midway through moving, and I had to start moving things myself. They dropped and damaged a bunch of my things, and they lost one of my pack. The worst part is, they didn't even finish their job. I had to Uber back and bring all the stuff they left behind. I brought them coffee to be nice, since it was early in the morning. Then, they pushed me to buy them lunch after yelling at me for all the stuff I had (a lot which I helped move myself and some of which they ended up leaving behind anyways). They are scammers, and I am thoroughly disappointed in the service I received, and the ridiculous amount of money I spent on it. My glass and ceramics were broken upon unpacking. The wooden floors of my new apartment were deeply scratched after they brought everything in with their metal trolley. Months after this horrible experience, I bumped into my shoe cabinet, and it collapsed. It turns out that they had broken one of the legs, and quietly taped it up with packing tape so I wouldn't notice. What truly baffles me is that these movers insisted on a large tip after they knowingly broke my things. This was the most terrible moving experience I have ever had. I reached out to the company, thinking that this could have just been one bad employee, but they have been no help. read more

This was a wild move!!! The cops showed up. Really! Let's dive in... Teddy was recommended by a friend and I'm glad we went with them. Dam was very responsive and we felt taken care of before move day. We moved on Black Friday, so the owners did the move themselves, giving most of their staff the day off. Nice guys. The trouble stemmed from our old landlord, who (understandably) had a strict mask policy in the building's common spaces. As the team worked on the move, their masks were coming down. Could they have been more vigilant? Sure. But we were masked and they were working quickly. It was concerning, but we could understand. Our landlord could not. She was watching them through cameras and opening her door to yell at them. She resorted to insults and would not allow us to intervene. These guys endured ignorant and xenophobic language and I applaud them for not losing their cool. Truly. She followed up on her threats to call the police by calling the police. They came, told the landlord that she would be safe inside her apartment, and then told us to call them if she harassed us any further. It was a really unfortunate series of events, but the Teddy team handled it well. They got us out of that wild situation and into our new apartment quickly, all while managing an irate landlord. These guys were great! I moved from Forest Hills to Sunset Park in about 2 to 3 hours including everything. I only had a full size bed, dresser, desk, and medium size mirror. I paid $395 for all of it (tip not included) and they even ended up taking a target cubicle, large bag, and my ac unit no extra charge. Other places were charging me a bit more, which was weird because one location had an elevator and my new location was on the first floor. The guys were professional and got in and out quickly. I was communicating with Momo before the move for all of the info and he was so nice and explained everything clearly! They did show up 30 min after the delivery window they gave me, but they did call to let me know and ask if it was okay. Momo was definitely the best part of my entire move. I had a stressful move that I was not looking forward to (6 floor walk up, rainy day, August heat) and Teddy really made the whole thing easy for me. I sent him several emails asking to adjust my quantity of items (including adding boxes on the day of my move) and Momo always replied politely and immediately. He was also very efficient at getting me my COI for my building. He even gave me a call after my move to make sure everything went smoothly. I acknowledge that 6 flights of stairs is A LOT but my two movers made it look easy, carrying multiple boxes at once down my stairs on a very rainy morning. My one complaint would be that when they delivered my boxes to my new apartment, they stacked boxes that were clearly labeled "fragile" and "glass" underneath boxes that were quite heavy. Both men who handled the job were so sweet and professional. They were on time and worked efficiently.
