I've used the Elate Moving's services two times. One time when I moved from Jersey City, NJ to Manhattan, NYC in 2017 [Studio apt]. And one more time in November/2019 to move from Manhattan, NYC to downtown Washington, D.C. [1 bdr apt] In both times, they were exceptionally on time, professional, and very helpful. They were so quick at both loading and unloading times and very timely at getting all the required permit(s) beforehand. I feel like I can trust them with all my belongings, and they would not let me down. As soon as I sign the contract, I got a piece of mind. I am now adding pics below. They broke my Dining table got 3 estimates to replace totaling 3500.00 and they reimbursed me 150.00! Saduhi and his colleagues did an excellent job with a difficult job. We are downsizing and had to pack up our belongings from a 3BR apt to move into a 2BR apt in the same neighborhood. The difficult part was that some of our things had to be taken up to our house in Columbia County. This resulted in a very long day for the team. They packed up most of our stuff and then headed up the Hudson Valley. They arrived upstate around 9pm and didn't get home until 1am. They had to come back the next day at 8am and finish packing, load the truck and move us in to our new building. They weren't cheap, but they did what they promised they would, packed out stuff very carefully, and worked their buns off. I worked as a mover briefly when I was 19 years old and in good shape. It's exhausting, back breaking work. They earn every penny they get. I would definitely use them again. read more

Slaven and his team did a great job packing and moving all of the stuff that we had crammed into our 2 bed 2 bath apt. We moved to the apartment building next door. So they decided to not use their truck and use dollies to move everything. The packing took the morning and the move started at noon. They all wore masks. They were finished moving everything around 2:30pm. We didn't pay for unpacking services. I had gotten quotes from 2 other moves- Piece of Cake and Roadway. Elate was by far the cheapest. And also recommended by good friends. They do have a surcharge if you pay by credit card. So be prepared to get a cashier's check if you want to save $$$. We unpacked all of our stuff and nothing was damaged or scratched. Great experience. And don't forget to tip in cash! Tip: make sure to ask how long packing will take so you know when to book your apt building's elevator (if that is your situation) read more

YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!! My mother relocated out of Manhattan and had to move EVERYTHING! I was so impressed with the movers' attention to detail, care and thoughtfulness employed with each and every piece they wrapped. Her furniture is mostly antiques and irreplaceable. Not a scratch could be found on anything after all was said and done. They were able to pack up her entire apartment and get it loaded onto a truck in less than 3 hours and we are talking about an apartment that has heavy solid wood furniture. When we arrived at our destination - a pre war building with an elevator that was never meant to carry an over 7-foot tall solid wood armoire, they CARRIED IT UP THREE FLIGHTS OF STAIRS!!! Again, not a scratch! We were truly amazed and so grateful that they were able to accomplish this herculean task. There are movers but ELATE is above and beyond the rest. I am sorry that this review is a few days late - but I had to create another email address because I have used Elate 2x in the last 4 months. I guess google doesn't understand NYC renters. My items were broken by the movers: My dining table, which because of my confinement to a wheelchair, was carefully selected for ease in going from a small table that I could access in my chair easily and equally easily was equipped with a one-handed operation to extend the leaves. Two of the movers deliberately disassembled the table and mechanism (beyond the shipping configuration of 2 pieces), into 3 pieces as I protested, watching in horror, with the entire leaf extension mechanism - screws, nuts, and bolts - removed with no photos or notes taken to reassemble. Upon delivery to my new residence several states away, the SAME individual movers (Ben and Max)could not reassemble table to perform as purchased - leaves were wildly tilted and inches from center glass. When told it was unacceptable they tried to claim that the table left my origin in that condition - totally untrue and they had not even tried to extend before taking it apart. The two men were trying incompetently to fix the mechanism for hours, only making the table worse and worse. Several washers were found on the floor near where they were working on the table. Their next effort resulted in extended leaves level but with a 1 in gap and tried to pass that off as fine. I found the table online with a video showing how table worked after which they again disassembled it, then fixed the extended leaves so they would no longer retract beneath and table was fixed in extended position which is too large for my wheelchair to clear to pass through the room. They refused to accept a partial payment to cover replacing the nearly new table and called local police. An officer arrived and tried repeatedly to ask them what their policy in situations such as this was and they had no answer. The officer demanded they leave my property and pursue the matter in civil court. A management individual phoned the next day to ask for complete payment promising to have the table professionally repaired. I overnighted a check for the entire balance of the moving cost believing, foolishly the management individual would stand behind his promise. Weeks and countless calls were made by myself with the result ending in Elate sending an individual over a month later who concluded the Elate movers should never have disassembled the table in the first place - of course!. As this individual was also an employee of Elate he assured me that he would make this clear to management - that this was an intentional destruction of my property - but management then finally, weeks after my move, said they were sending me what amounted to less than 12% of the amount I paid for the table, with this comment "I'm sorry that our handyman couldn't repair your damaged item. We tried going an extra mile here but that route doesn't always lead to success..."! DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!!! They also broke the brakes off my pool lift, which cannot be repaired and removed the batteries from my empty safe, which canceled the keypad code, and forced me to go to the manufacturer to obtain an access key. Why? These guys are dumb as stumps, and do not compensate you for their mistakes and damages. I'm still waiting for that check. read more

I'm in tears , first of all they didn't even move everything I had to pay another months rent so I can finish it myself. I used to move myself But now I have heart disease I can't really do it I get out of breath desperate supposed to be for two days January 30 and the 31st I lived in that apartment for years, can you do cumulate stuff. When you called me they said they can do it in one day I said, are you sure I have a Lotta stuff they said yes I was even taking things off the list and they went back and said I was adding things on when I have pic proof I have my landlord for proof. They completely destroyed some items heirlooms, I packed my own jewelry myself I know I'm not to leave them do it, but they were throwing things all over the place like things that I had like my contacts so I can see on the floor I am disputing everything because they didn't deliver what they were supposed to. They didn't do the job they have the nerve to ask me for more tips money! he even said before I left are you have a lot of stuff well that's what I told you on the phone you should've did the two day one I mean why am I paying all that money it was supposed to be for two days so they were trying to rip me off and there's stuff all behind in my apartment and I had to pay another thousand dollars for that rent when I have mortgage on my brand new house I don't blame the company.. I blame the workers, they should've took 2 days and when I spoke to Nick, they said if they can't fit everything on the truck, they would have to come back and get the rest. No charge!!! didn't do that.. I would think I would knew better than them when I said 2 days I know what I have. I should've just got some people off the street to do it. They probably would've done a great job. My Chanel purse is worth more than the move alone . why did I get charged all that money when they pick one day when I was paying for two days? I was suspicious when I first encountered Elate on yelp and read the reviews. So many movers RELY on fake reviews on their websites and yelp. And I'd never seen movers with this high of a rating. I've been burnt by movers before, so I was doubly suspicious. And I'm here to say that I was (gladly) wrong to be. From start to finish, Elate made the stressful process of moving as much of a joy as it can be. They gave me a quote, and unlike pretty much any other mover out there, did not charge me a cent more than that initial quote. (And it was a great quote/price compared to other movers I contacted who would then tack on long haul fees, and stair fees, and claim you had items they didn't plan for). I moved out of the New York area, but should I ever decide to move back, I would hire Elate again without hesitation, and that's honestly the highest praise I think I could give movers. read more

We have used Elate Moving twice.   Once to move across the country from California to Connecticut.  They were amazing.  Just amazing.  Everything went smoothly and they went above and beyond in many ways.  That was in 2017. We just used them again (in 2021) to move across town and had a different experience.  They wrapped things well and got everything to the new house undamaged.  However, the crew leader was curt, sometimes rude, unprofessional, and not willing to do all that we asked, even though they finished in 5-6 hours (the original estimate was for 8) and charged us the full amount.  We reached out to Elate Customer Service and they explained their point of view regarding the things that transpired.  They offered us a 10% refund. Since there are not a lot of great movers out there, in our experience, they may be worth a shot: just be very clear up front about what you need and expect. read more

In the past 8 years we have moved 5 times.  For the moves we have done that originated in the NYC metro area, we have used Elate and for anybody moving in the NYC metro area that doesnt use Elate....you may be crazy. In total we have used Elate 3 times and they are consistently head and shoulders above other moving companies in terms of quality of service and ease of transaction. They are the best packers of furniture and large fragile items I have ever seen. Other movers we have used routinely break or damage a small portion of our stuff. Not Elate. Every time everything arrives just as it was packed. They are always early for the job and ready to work! I am never waiting around for a truck to show up or additional guys to make the journey. They are all present and accounted for when they are needed and start the job with urgency. We most recently moved from Princeton, NJ to Westfield, NJ and our Elate foreman was George. Absolutely excellent, highly recommend!!! Moving all of our furniture and disassembling a 120 pound L-shaped desk from our one-bedroom apartment, something that would've taken my girlfriend and I multiple hours, took the Elate Moving team 45 minutes. In under 3 hours, their team of 3 movers had moved all of our furniture from our one-bedroom to our new studio apartment in White Plains - everything in great condition and handled with the utmost care. My girlfriend and I had packed all our belongings in advance, but we were very nervous about moving our furniture, and Elate took all the weight off our shoulders. We had a lamp with three glass enclosures for the bulbs, and the team was so careful with disassembling and securely transporting it (They told us they carried them like dragon eggs!). My keyboard piano which we had wrapped in a tarp, they wrapped even more carefully in blankets, taped securely, and moved without a scratch. A queen-sized mattress that was a struggle for us to originally maneuver into our bedroom - one mover was able to get it seamlessly out of the room in a minute. The team communicated with us the entire time, asking where we'd like things to be placed. One of the movers even noticed I was holding the door open for them and quickly found something to prop the door so I wouldn't have to. Literally the only thing that wasn't absolutely ideal was that they were about half an hour late due to traffic up from the city to Westchester, but they texted us and kept us informed, and we stayed on schedule. I can't really imagine finding a better team of movers - we'll definitely be using them again in the future if we decide to move. We used this company to move our apartment and had a very bad experience with the management! We purchased the packing, moving, and unpacking service and they changed the package on us the day of. They refused to unpack the items that they packed, and they refused to take out the trash from the furniture pieces that they moved and covered with boxes and protection. They brought a small truck and had to make 2 trips to the apartment and missed our time window for the elevator use. the building will be charging us an additional fee. The manager was extremely disrespectful and rude on the phone. beware do now use this company. The price might seem good but it's only because they will scam you during your move. read more

I've moved 6 times in the last 15 years and Elate is the only company I would feel easy about using again. So far, nothing missing, one coffee cup chipped. That's it. They listened to my instructions with certain items and carried them out perfectly. I needed an accommodation to use my own truck - no problem. Fees were reasonable no hidden cost. Everything upfront. I used them again for a storage move. Again, fantastic courteous service. I have another storage move in the next few weeks and I will be calling on them again. After much research we used Elate to move from Stamford CT to Northern California. We moved a 4 bedroom house with much valuable art [some of which required 6 men to lift and move]. The reason we chose them over a cheaper consolidated company [i.e. all the others] was that we did not want our pieces mixed with another load and did not want different team of part-time laborers unloading at the other end. Elate did a superb job packing large pieces and their same full-time employees then drove the 2 vans across the US and unloaded 5 days later, under the direction of Dimitri. Not one single thing was broken and not a mark on the houses at either end. 5 years ago we were relocated from CA to CT and used a consolidated mover; they upped the price 3 times and the whole process was terrible experience from disinterested people at both ends and so many broken pieces...we had full insurance and received over $15,000 from our damage claim. The price of the boxes were exorbitant, around 3 times the price you could find on Amazon, for example. This is the moving company for you ... If you want to pay double the amount you were quoted and get condescending responses back from their associates ... The review below is based on my moving experience and personal opinion along with actual excerpts from emails I received from the Elate Moving associates. It's important for me to address the major issue I ran into in regard to the price I was charged. I was sent a quote for ~$1,900 by Elate moving to move a 4 bedroom house (less than 2 miles) and ended up paying more than $3,500. Extremely concerning that a company can be that far off from their original quote. If you're thinking of doing business with them, here's some advice ... (an actual response I received via email from one of their associates) ... "I understand that you are angry at yourself for not being meticulous at the time of signing a contract ..." So to whoever is reading this review, you read it from their associates, be "meticulous" or you may end up paying double the amount quoted. Here are a few additional items to point out, from my experience: - When asking for a quote, be sure to have them come in person for a walk through. They told me their preference was to do a FaceTime walk through, which I did. I believe this is a tactic they use to charge significantly more on the day of the move. - On the day of the move, their Foreman may tell you within 5 minutes of showing up that "this is going to cost a lot more than we quoted you." - If you try and contact anyone at Elate Moving about the the quote/ price during your move (on a weekend), don't expect a call or email back. They may use this as another tactic to charge you obscene amounts, with no word from sales or management until after the transaction has processed. - Beware of tipping ... Their Foreman will not give you the final price of the move until after you tip, (which I found very odd). Once I tipped (hundreds of dollars), the Foreman asked for more money and said he would "take a little off the price for more tip." I declined. - The house we moved out was left with filthy floors and rugs. We had a professional cleaner come in the following day to clean up the mess that was left. - If you email during the move (which I did) or text the Manager (which I did), do not expect a proactive reach out the next day to address any issues. I had to actively call Elate Moving on Monday at to get answers to address the gross overcharging and mis-quoting. When I called, I was certainly upset and requested answers from their management. Instead of a call back from anyone, I received an email. Here are a few direct quotes I received via email from one of their associates: - "Full disclosure: all our conversations are recorded. I've just listened to it." - "Don't trust me? I can send you the conversation." ... - "NO MENTION of packing EVERYTHING in your house." - "Good for you: you saved some time and $$$ yesterday because of being proactive." - "Wishful thinking?" - "I understand that you are angry at yourself for not being meticulous at the time of signing a contract..." My experience working with Elate Moving may be different than one you'll experience, if you decide to do business with them. With that said, I can honestly say, it was and has been the worst customer experience of my life. The 3 movers that were sent on the day of the move were fine but the sales person, foreman and manager who I worked with were 3 of the least cordial or helpful people I've ever spoken to. At the end of the day, I wanted to outline my experience for anyone looking for movers. Certainly moves are stressful for all involved, but having to pay thousands of dollars more for a move 1.2 miles away, seems like it could have been prevented. Hope this review was helpful. The guys at Elate moving are the most hard-working people I've ever seen. Giorgi and his team are worth every penny and so much more. They never stopped moving - for 2 days straight, packed up everything my family owns with great care and unpacked with just as much care,putting all the furniture back together again. Energetic and polite, this team of four helped us with a two-block apart move between two five-story walk ups and got the job done in 4.5 hours (2bd apt). Everything arrived safely and they were transparent about the pricing. Only one complaint -- 20 minutes after they said they were driving the furniture over, we saw them standing around drinking Starbucks. They quickly got moving again when they saw us. Following my review, Elate reimbursed us $249.21 for the night we spent in a hotel due to their late arrival and compensated us for the four hours of labor my fiance had to put in. While the company did follow through with this small attempt to improve the situation, the gesture does not outweigh the negative experience and lack of professionalism we experienced during our move for more than $6,000 out of pocket. read more

At 9.30 Slava and his 4 colleagues arrived when they left 4,5 hours later they had packed everything in my second floor apartment and moved it to my new 5th floor apartment 3 doors down. Great work and meticulously dealing with my stuff. Very attentive to small stains on the wall when moving stuff. The planning was very smooth and no problem to change the date. I am mortified at how unprofessional and reckless Elate Moving was with respect to moving my home furnishings. They sent 4 very young men without a lead to do a job that required 6 men on the job. They ran the clock taking breaks and laughing into the early morning hours. I asked them to leave at 2:15am to no avail. They demanded that I go with them at 2:15am to the property I had moved out of to retrieve their jacket and moving supplies that they left behind. I had to call 911 for protection. The police had to make them leave. This was a huge mistake hiring them and I paid for it dearly. I will not be bullied and threatened by these people. Terrible service. Beware.
