Dealing with Clean Cut Moving for this move was such a headache and amplified an already stressful NYC move. If I could give them zero stars I 100% would. If you are deciding whether or not to book them take this review as a sign that you should NEVER work with them and go with another company. I had gone with them for my move because I had used them last year. And even though the move last year was mediocre (late arrival, workers spending time to use my bathroom without asking, slow communication, etc) I still decided to go with them because they gave a really nice return customer discount which was far below all of the other quotes that I saw around. When I first started to communicate with them everything was going pretty well. Communication was quick and I had all my questions answered quickly and efficiently. However, after I paid my deposit and COI charges everything went downhill from there. I had worked it out with David before to have my COIs sent out ASAP due to the request of my buildings since I was told they usually send out the COIs 1-2 days before a move. They were able to send out the COIs early last year during my other move so I knew it was possible albeit they were also very laggy on that last year as well but still got done. David told me to message him a weekend two weeks before my move to make sure my COIs were sent out which I did with no answer. I gave them till the following Monday and still no message after asking again. After some badgering I finally received a message on Wednesday saying he would check in with me by tomorrow and let me know. And still no update or answer. This went on till the next Monday where I never received an answer to a simple "Is my COI sent out like you promised" question. During this whole time I am pretty sure they were fielding my calls as well because I was always sent straight to voicemail. Finally, after no actual response and no idea what was going to happen with a move that was seeming to probably never happen I asked them directly if this move was going to happen and never received a response. So that forced me to find another moving company around 4 days before my move. Which really amplified my anxiety on top of an already stressful situation such as moving. This whole situation just felt like such a scam - they got their money and completely ghosted and did not give any service or just basic communication. They handled this situation so unprofessionally. Heed this warning and NEVER work with Clean Cut Moving. read more

HORRIBLE! I hate that the only way to get in touch with this company is through bad reviews, but our other methods of communication have fallen on deaf ears. Look up their Better business review (link at bottom) From what we can tell this company is two guys in a room outsourcing jobs to outside moving teams. If anything goes wrong they will do their best to disappear. We hired them to do our move and paid for the insurance that our building required. They never provided the insurance information to our building as promised, they showed up hours late and then caused damage to the hallway in our building. The damage was $650 and when we tried contacting them about it they stopped answering our calls. (I have a recording of them saying we paid for the insurance and that they would send it) We have asked for a refund for the insurance that we paid ($60) and for them to cover the damage. We called, we emailed. No response. We sent an official demand letter and are now working our way through the small claims court process. Surprise, surprise none of their addresses are legit. At this point it's not about the money but the principle of a company taking your money and not providing a service. Look them up on the Better Business Bureau and you will see their F rating. We were moving from our apartment in Manhattan to a storage unit in Brooklyn and needed full packing services. David the owner was extremely easy to work with over email booking and leading up to the move. On the day of our move, Josh and the team showed up early and immediately got to work needing very little direction on how/what to pack and move. The movers were polite and friendly, moved our stuff professionally and wrapped the furniture. With COVID they wore masks, which was appreciated. The move was just what i was hoping for - no damage and got my stuff from A to B safely. Hassan and his partner were great! I was due to move at the beginning of covid19. However all moves were put on hold and I didn't move for 3 months. David was patient and checked in from time to time. Profiteering B/C of COVID-- DISHONEST "I wish you the best of luck in finding a moving company during COVID, in the winter, on one of the busiest moving days" -- A little over a week before our move because I said it was not okay for them to raise the cost. This company quoted me a price then wrote back about a week later to tell me that they were raising my quote by 44%. I spent all that time looking and speaking to moving companies and this one took the time to lull me into a sense of false security, and as soon as I was almost too far down the path of no return they jacked up the rate. People are strapped due to the pandemic and needing to move, and companies like this are taking advantage of those people. It's sad and they won't get our money. Where to begin with these clowns? I had a confirmed time for the movers showing up between 12-3. Here's how everything went down: Thursday: 11:30am: text from David in the office telling me an elevator broke on an earlier job, they'd be at my place at 3pm. 11:45am: phone call from the foreman Thiago saying he'd be there in one hour. 3pm: text from David in the office telling me they won't be there until 4pm now but they'll have 4 guys to make up for it. 3:10pm: phone call from Thiago telling me he'd be there in an hour. 4:20pm: I call Thiago to find out what's going on. He tells me he's down the block. I stay on the phone and say I'll meet him outside my building. Phone call ends. There is no truck, no one is there. I call back, no answer. 4:30pm: still no answer from Thiago, I call David trying to get in touch and find out what's going on. No answer there too. Several more calls over the next 10 minutes, no answer from either person. 4:45pm: David in the office says, "calling me is not going to get anyone there quicker." And let's me know he can't get in touch with Thiago either. Informs me he will look for another crew. Over the next 45 min, I look for another moving company and let David know I found another company who could be at my place by 7pm. He stalls. 5:30pm: Thiago tells me he'll be at my place in 20 minutes. 6:20pm: Thiago and team are still not there. 6:40pm: They finally show up and they've only got 3 guys now. 11pm: we finally leave my old apartment. 2am: I finally am in my new apartment. Saturday: I discovered some shelving is missing as well as an expensive pair of headphones. In the container my headphones are stored in, a piece of paper and stamp are also in it. I find only the stamp and paper, the paper has been stamped numerous times. I live alone, this was not done by anyone else. I call Thiago to let him know, he tells me he has no headphones but will check on the shelving. He finds the shelving and will return it that night. Saturday eve: Thiago doesn't show up and tells me he'll drop it off first thing in the morning. Sunday morning: Thiago doesn't show up and tells me he'll drop it off in the evening. Sunday evening: Thiago doesn't show up and tells me he'll drop it off first thing in the morning. Monday morning: Thiago doesn't show up...you get where this is going. David in the office disappeared after Thursday and didn't return any messages I sent regarding missing items. Matthew called me on Monday morning to tell me they're reviewing my move and will get back to me. DON' USE THESE GUYS! It's a nightmare Update: they're now screening my calls when I try to get any sort of update on when my stuff will be returned. read more

Had a move scheduled for today, 12PM. They EMAILED last night, 8PM, saying they under quoted and would not be able to move me for that price. They proceeded to jack up the price by $300 blaming "management". Not even 24 hours notice, which would have been just as tacky and unprofessional. I still had to pay $200 for a guard for my building (it's a yuppy coop), and took a full vacation day from work. So, $500+ later and I'm still in exactly the same apartment, not at all moved. My guess is that they had an opportunity to take a bigger move, so they lied instead of canceling me. Even if that's not the case, that's obviously the case. They still haven't even had the balls to call and apologize. TL;DR - people use Flat Rate Moving for a reason. Don't use Clean Cut Movers, even if Gothamist recommended them. Foiz and his crew were so friendly and kept a good attitude despite the heavy furniture and VERY hot day. We ran into an issue with the building I was moving into where the mgmt company had us share the reserved elevator with another (irate) resident and my movers were really patient and respectful the whole time. This is a great company and Ted and his crew are amazing. The pick up location was in the Financial District which is a difficult area to maneuver with a truck and even more difficult to park and load. The guys were on time picked up the items which the covered with pads and delivered to Riverdale NY. They carried the three 7x5 bookcases up 4 floors and delivered them without any damage. They were very responsive and capable. The office was also very responsive clear about the pricing and very specific as to what was covered. I used Clean Cut Movers on my move on 3/25/19. There was one hiccup. They gave me a quote and the night before told me it would actually be $100 more because of my marble topped tables. I called to resolve this and Nicole picked up the phone. She was familiar with the issue but when I asked her to honor the price that is in writing, she said "but our other price is also in writing". I tried to level with her and negotiate but she said "no thats now how we do business, you can go to another mover if you want." I thought that was a bit odd and asked to speak to Alex. She called me "fucking ridiculous and hung up on me." I needed a couch delivered from Harlem to Brooklyn and my old loveseat brought out the curb. I got a few quotes and Clean Cut Moving gave me the most fair price for the job. The entire job took about 1 hr and a half and that includes the game of "Tetris" that was needed to try to get the couch and loveseat in my weird shaped elevator, but they made it work. Awful experience. I had them move me from a NYC apartment into a storage unit. When I finally was able to get my furniture Out I noticed multiple pieces were damaged. The new movers I hired were appalled by how the storage unit had been organized. The move took 5 hours for what should have been no longer than 3 hours. The movers had no idea what they were doing. Subsequently I contacted the company regarding my damages and have yet to hear back. Would not recommend this company's. To update my review- their idea of a fair settlement was to offer $100 for my thousands of dollars of destroyed furniture. Unfortunately, my furniture was in a storage unit for 7 months so I couldn't properly inspect it. As the new movers I hired were moving furniture out of the unit, and hadn't even yet taken it down the hall, that was when I noticed all the damage. There is no doubt in my mind that the damage was caused by Clean Cut Movers. A west elm dresser, bar cart, and 5 foot wooden dining room table should not have been overly complicated to move. The movers just didn't take the time to wrap any of the furniture, and did an awful job packing the truck. Furthermore, they only responded after I posted this review. The first time I used them was just okay, communication with the moving team could have been better and one of my bookshelves was slightly damaged in the process. Still, they were quick once they got there and the price was good so I decided to trust them again for my latest move. I don't regret it! My second time with them was even better than my first, the team that moved me (Rene & co) was friendly, communicative, very careful with my furniture, quick and efficient and respected Covid guidelines.
