Being my first time with self storage I was unsure what to expect. Didnt seem like anything glamorous or pleasant given its associated with moving and heavy boxes. I took advantage of their mover deal- super straightforward and seamless. Overall I was hugely impressed and positively surprised. The facilities were impeccably clean, staff friendly and responsive. Warning! Manhattan Mini Storage is not the company it once was. Storage Mart from Missouri bought it in 2021. They over-paid, and now they want to pass that financial burden onto its customers. For many decades I had excellent service at several Downtown locations. After it was sold, the prices spiked, no more pre-pay for a year at a discount, no more yearly leases, and they force you to pay a monthly insurance fee, which is not "insurance," it's a money grab, and they never disclose that information in their ads. I don't think this is legal in NYC, but I left my long association with them before checking into it. There is now plenty of competition for storage in NYC. You don't have to over-pay for Storage Mart. I highly recommend you do not support this company. read more

The place is clean and the staff is very nice. During the one year I've rented a unit the price has jumped over 70%. Feels a little "bait and switch". In that same time they also cut the hours people have access to their units. Can't say I'm totally satisfied. read more

We rented a unit here for a few months. We misplaced the key & when we got there, they said it was $50 to open it with one of their maintenance guys BUT the guy was not scheduled to come for another 2 hours plus they had no certainty on when he was to arrive. We spent money on a cab reaching the place & needed to get back to our location. We requested for a discount in opening the lock. The manager on site was extremely rude & aggressive. On confronting her, she just slammed the door & walked away. The front desk clerk was apologizing on her behalf. read more

These people are downright scammers and thieves. I have dealt with them for years with my real estate brokerage, and they've always been great with me until I became a personal customer. They up sold me over the phone on a larger storage unit which I didn't need that they said would cost only $80 per month because that particular unit was on sale. It wound up actually costing me $120 a month with the insurance that they didn't tell me and then after two or three months they jacked up the price with no notice the price went all the way up to $240 which I refuse to pay so now they're saying they're going to auction off all of my things. read more

Can you believe an employee got RAPED at this facility !!!! Company gave no F***. From Senior director Alain Gingars to regional director Satyam Shah all the to Regional Manager Ylia Saldana. They all tried to cover that event as if it did not happen. At the time entire staff crew was female only, upper management did not inform staff of what happened. The suspect was still on the loose meaning he could came in and RAPED another employee at the facility. Alain respond to his upper management team was that they will get over it and stuff like that happens on the regular. Satyam did not want any part on event. Company did no efforts to help cope with employee. As matter fact she was expected to report to work the next few days as if nothing had happened. Some employees are very rude and rarely anyone is available at the front desk to help. I came at 7:45am on my move out day to pack up a few things before the movers arrive at 8am. My card wasn't working and I couldn't get to my storage, and there wasn't anyone at the front desk. I called and the woman said that the office hours have changed from 7am to 8am yesterday. ​There was no communication about this or an update on Google/website. I waited until someone showed up at 8am, they took my ID for a temporary card and while the movers worked, I checked to see if I can get my ID back, but the front desk was empty for an hour. As I had to go to my new place to meet the movers, I called again and the woman said that I'll just have to wait. After waiting and attempting to knock and call again, I left without my ID. There is apparently no way for the phone operator to get in touch with the manager. Her only solution is: wait. Based on the trouble I had during my move out I will not use Manhattan Mini Storage again. read more

28 2 ave location Saturday around 3 PM I have had one to 4 units here since 2000. Came back from pop up, not feeling well and ready to plop everything in storage, use bathroom and go home......The hallway was blocked w. a xl box and the woman said I have to wait until she unpacks. I went to tell the man at the desk who was bringing a mop to the bathroom. He came and I let him know I didnt feel well and if there was any way he could help her move her box so we could drop our stuff in storage. He said no. I went to use the bathroom and he said, you dont want to go in there, Im cleaning it and then you can use it. I asked if I could use the staff one since I really needed to go. He said no Id have to wait......like really, 15 minutes later I took the wet floor sign down and used bathroom that had no toilet paper. I miss the table and chairs we would sit on after a long days work to wrap up the day and plan new adventures. The staff bathroom used to be the womans room, now we share the urinal room. Price to high to get sour faces at desk (earlier in the week) and really bad customer service. I keep being told its new ownership and this is how it is now. After 22 years and paying over $1800 a month Iv decided to look for alternatives. read more

Manhattan Mini Storage's FREE SHUTTLE VAN SERVICE ENDING DEC 15, 2021. Major bummer. I would've continued giving it 5 stars but have to deduct 2 stars because: It's a great place; clean and well run,,,BUT THE MAIN REASON I CHOSE MMStorage was the free shuttle van service. Now that they plan to get rid of it as of Dec 15, 2021...there's no compelling reason to store stuff there! What separates them from their competition,,, will be gone. Now it's just a question of price, value, and especially the most convenient location. I might move my stuff to a storage facility a few blocks from my building. The time, money and inconvenience of having to rent a van or pay for a taxi/Uber every time I want to move stuff in or out is potentially a game changer. A little foresight by the new owners about what makes their target customer pick MMS (the free van service being the number one reason new customers consider them first) rather than just focusing on cutting costs,,,well, common sense says they'll definitely lose business over time. Getting rid of the main reason so many people like MMS is a very poorly thought out killer move to their biz. I hope the new ownership gets the hint before they find themselves much less full than they have been historically! Cutting out the central reason so many people choose MMS,,,that it was the only storage facility offering a free van service (pick up in front of your building and drop off at MMS) ...is a classic example of how companies who takeover existing businesses, especially a family business like MMS, fail to understand what drives their target customers to do business with them. Anyone agree with me that the free shuttle van service should stay,,,please make your "voices" heard. Perhaps if enough of us make noise, we can change their minds!" read more

I've been a customer for almost two years and I have to say, everyone there is so nice and helpful. I do want to especially point out how amazing Vanessa is. She knows your name makes you feel like family there. She always has the biggest and brightest smile. I'm a constant there and they have helped me in so many ways, but Vanessa is always so pleasant and warm to help out. I love the team there and wish they wouldn't switch people out so often. This place use to accept all my packages (shipped from all over the world) without any issues. This year for some reason they have been refusing packages from Europe and Australia... you can imagine how much it cost me to have my orders sent back to the shipper, paying customs fees, etc... WITHOUT EVEN INFORMING ME!!! This becomes very detrimental to my business. I wish they would use more common sense and understand that shipments from abroad are not always coming from main US carriers like UPS or Fedex and just... sign and accept them like other packages!!! Seemed like a good deal when I looked at the website and from all the advertising they do you'd think they'd be more focused on great customer service. The salespeople we're pretty aggressive and short tempered. If you are willing to follow their rules and do things their way I guess it will work for you. If you need any extra help or want to ask questions then should should probably go elsewhere. What finally did it for me was when I asked that the movers commit to a specific time they told me that I was unreasonable and that either I take what they were offering or take my business elsewhere. We use this location for our office's storage needs. I've had so many experiences with storage facilities- whether personal or for work and this is one of the top experiences I've ever had. Our company typically gets very large shipments sent and more often than not, I don't get a heads up when it gets shipped. So, when I don't get the heads up, I can't give Manhattan Mini Storage a heads up and I can't imagine they're very pleased when they get 20, 60 pound boxes delivered with nowhere to put them. HOWEVER, as I am ready to go in there and get my head bitten off, they've always been SO nice about it- especially Gill and Oswald. So nice! Not only do they always greet me with a smile, BUT, they've even placed the boxes on the little carts for me, to make it easier when I wheel the items into my locker. I've never actually rented storage here, but they have the best prices around for boxes/shipping supplies, and they're open late. Don't even think about going to UPS - $20 for one box - WHA!?!? Be warned, they don't always have every size in stock, so don't leave things till the last second. read more

Manhattan Mini storage is awesome! it can get a little pricey for sure but definitely helpful when you're living in a small NYC apartment. I recently visited this specific mini storage and worked with Lawrence to schedule my move along with a unit... He was truly PHENOMENAL. He helped me find a cheaper deal (since I did not care too much about where the storage unit was). It ended up being around 100 bucks cheaper per month. More importantly he was always so prompt with answering my 1000+ questions and also helped me with a free move from my old apartment to the unit with Moving Ahead. I must say your storage associate Jean-Pierre Duqueroix-Duvalier provided excellent customer service during my visit. I checked out yesterday after six months of storing here and I have to say, I was incredibly impressed with their customer service. Not only did Carmen, the location manager prorate my fee when I fled the city earlier than was originally planned, Gil, their handyman, was incredibly helpful, fast, and efficient. Some fees popped up that I hadn't expected and after speaking with Carmen, they were also removed from my account. The reason they have so many filtered reviews is they HAVE to write their own positive reviews or they wouldn't have many. There have been a few employees over the years who have been helpful. But most of them are busy in the back on their cell phones,. . .resulting in there being only one person at the desk helping customers, meaning you wait forever. The "storage taxi" is a joke. You have to wait for hours and the man who drives the taxi is also on his personal cell phone while driving a large van. You get to hear his personal business. Oy. Finally, as another reviewer pointed out, the sales people are agitated and impatient. There are much better options out there. read more

I stopped by the 2nd Ave location in Manhattan on Saturday and Georgia was very helpful and kind with my moving needs. Everything was fast, efficient and Georgia went out of her way to accomodate me . Then I went home and realized my wallet was gone. I panicked and then went back, hoping it was at the store. It was, thank God. Georgia had put it aside and tried to locate a number for me, but I had an out of town address listed. She was so nice and I insisted she take a tip, which she refused.
