I went in to get my car smog with a coupon, the place was quick even with multiple people ahead of me and was out within 20 minutes. That was on June 3rd., I'm a woman who really doesn't check my car myself, usually I'll ask my bf, dad, or brother to check it for me so my car is kept in great condition. Today my bf took my car to get us coffee and on his way back the car started smoking, he popped the hood and realized that the oil cap was not screwed in but upside down and just sitting on top. I don't drive my car that much so I'm glad the cap didn't fall off, but I'm upset at the fact that this smog shop did not put the cap back on so my car has been leaking oil and my engine could have blown up if my bf had not popped the hood to see what was going on. We both feel like this shop is shady and did this on purpose. I will not use this shop nor will I recommend it to anyone!! read more

I really like this place... ...even the yappy little dog! [grin] Seriously, though, as smog check places go, this one's about as good as it gets. We stumbled onto it not long after it opened. We had a coupon for another place, but the smog guy at that place was gone for the afternoon when we went there; and this place accepted that other guy's coupon. That, alone, made us fans. But, even better, the service was both terrific, and fast. The guy doing the check was really nice, explained things, liked to talk to people... it was great. And so we've been going there ever since. Wouldn't go anywhere else, in fact. It's very small, and usually not too busy (though as more and more people discover it, and write good reviews in places like this, that'll obviously change). This most recent time we went was the first time, ever, that we had to wait. We had time, in fact, to go eat and still be back when they told us to return. Everyone's really friendly, though. The service remains good. The price is right. Heck, what's not to like. This last time we went, they had obviously changed some things... primarily in the customer/waiting area. It's no longer as easy as it used to be to just sort of mozy into the garage area and stand around and watch (insurance reasons, I'm sure). That said, one is still close enough, and can watch over the lower-half of the closed dutch door (the upper half is usually always opened). It's... I dunno... interesting, I guess, to watch both the owner and his wife checking the car (and how they do it; and the computer screen and stuff),while the dog sits over on the sofa across the room, watching intently and occasionally whining for mommy; and sometimes the son is walking around playing games on his iPhone. The place just has a nice, family sort of feel to it. They're VERY friendly, and... I dunno... one just sorta' feels good going there and giving 'em the business. Heck, the place even has free WIFI. Who woulda' thunk it! And the DMV paperwork capability... NICE. Of course, Napa's DMV is rarely terribly busy, so even if this place didn't handle the DMV part of things for you, it wouldn't be THAT much of a problem to just go to the DMV. Still, though, it's a nice convenience to just do it there... well worth the nominal fee. I dunno... I just really like this place. What can I say. One could not go wrong making this one's normal, routine place to go for smog checks. We should all go out of our way to patronize such businesses (over the ones which clearly couldn't care less)! It's rare to find a smog station that stands out among the others. This place stands out for many reasons. Warm, friendly, helpful and reasonable. What I like most is they have a policy of only charging you once for the smog check. If your car fails, pay the fee and when you bring it back for a retest, it's FREE. You only have to pay the license part. No one I have ever used does this in California. I drive from Calistoga to Napa for these folks. Oh, and Quick? Yes, they are so fast I couldn't even chat up my counter person and the job was done! read more

The name of the place says it all! I walked in with no appointment made with about 2 people ahead of me. I was in and out of the place in about 20-25 minutes. The only complaint is that it can be hard to find. Make sure you get the right directions as there isn't a big sign to see the place. Other than my only complaint, I thought that the staff was friendly, the price was inexpensive (print the coupon from their website to save a little more), and the smog test was really quick. I took my car, Rex, the day before I needed to renew my registration. Had I known the whole process would be so easy and quick (only 20 minutes) I wouldn't have been dreading it so much! Mike, the mechanic, was friendly and informative. The waiting room has wifi and tons of magazines. And it only cost a few cents over $50 after using the coupon on their website. I went in to the Napa Quick Smog for my first time this morning at about 8:30 AM and there was only one customer ahead of me. The smog technician was very nice and said it would take about ten minutes and he was right on point; just when I sat down and starting getting into a magazine article, the technician came back and said I was all set to go and that I passed. I used their website coupon and it came out to about 50 dollars (for cars 1996 and newer, mine is 2001 and not turbo or super charged, I don't know if other cars are more $). They open at 8AM most days so go early if you want to get it done VERY quickly. I will definitely be coming back here when my next smog is due =] read more

Quick Smog is a Star Certified facility, important if your DMV renewal notice specifies that you must use such a facility to get your inspection done. The people at Quick Smog are very nice, know their stuff, and can get you in and out quickly and at a reasonable price. I gave this place two tries because of all the good reviews. Day one, I arrive at 5:15 (they close at 6pm) there is a car in the garage already being smogged. No one else is waiting. Another couple arrive at the same time as I do- the woman behind the counter tells us both they will not accept any other cars and to come back tomorrow. Really? It takes less than 30 minutes to do one car and the truck was already in the process of being smogged so she obviously could have done at least one of us. Fine. Maybe we caught her on a bad day, it happens to the best of us. Next day I came back at 2pm. There are people waiting in the waiting room that has a total of about 4-5 chairs, only one available, this time I had to bring my two children, and they tell me it will be 2-3 HOURS before they can get to my car. I said fine, can I just leave my name and take my kids home and come back at the time when they can work on the car, the guy and woman (same lady from the day before) look at me like I'm crazy and laugh and say "sure but it's a first come first serve so you'll have to wait after whoever else shows up." Seriously??? I have two young kids- you expect us to STAND in your waiting room for 2-3 hours? Although, now that I think about it, it would be a fitting punishment for them. I have a feeling after about 30 minutes they'd manage to find the time to get to my car much faster once my extremely tone deaf daughter started to sing at the top of her lungs and my son started pounding on the window to try and get their dog's attention. I have to assume that from all the good reviews that either they were having just a difficult few days or that all the new customers from yelp have made it difficult for them to keep up. Whatever the reason I will NEVER go back. They need to seriously understand the word: APPOINTMENT it saves time and effort, that way they can write down a person's name and car and they don't fill up a parking lot wasting people's valuable time when they can get around to their cars. I know it's a revolutionary thought but they can take walk ins AND make appointments and the world will not collapse into anarchy. read more
