I've had my oil changed here many times, and was always happy with the service. I always do my smog checks here as well. Today I had them do a full tune up on my late model Mustang. I take my older Truck here for Smog Checks/Certificates and sometimes get a coupon in the bulk mail which helps because they are a bit pricey, and older vehicles tend to cost more with everyone. They've been fairly quick and consistant over the years. I plan on continuing with them. read more

Brought my Hyundai in for an oil change. They discovered a leaking oil pan gasket and that the dealership who did the previous service had overfilled the oil. I had to have the car towed as it was a warranty issue but Jabbar was super-cool and didn't even charge an inspection fee. read more

Let's start with my first interaction with this shop. Before coming here I had spoken to someone over the phone about my A/C system getting refilled as it sounded like it may be low on refrigerant. The response was that they could fill it and they gave me a price and that I should bring it in. I needed a smog too, but I was happy to get this done here as well. Upon getting there the next day to drop off the car, I was told that they actually couldn't work on the A/C because they didn't have "the machine". I'm assuming he was referring to a vacuum pump. Okay fine, bullet dodged, I told him I'd just take a referral of another shop and just get the smog done. I dropped the key off, headed out and to my surprise only waited a little over an hour until I received this call. "Hi this is ___ with Redwood Auto, your car is all done, you can pick it up" I went in to the office, she gave me the total, I paid, and THEN, AND ONLY THEN she shares with me that my car failed the test. Unreal. The problem was a technicality that I won't even get in to, but it could have been solved with a 30 second phone call. Instead he just failed my car, collected payment and moved on. I'm not sure how much worse you could be at customer service than this, but this hopefully is a good enough reason for most to stay away from this shop. read more

Made an appointment online to get a STAR smog check - super easy and efficient. The owner was very responsive and friendly. The smog check was quick and I felt like all COVID protocols were observed. Omg!! Jabar saved my life I was in Napa on wine tasting tour and my car wouldn't start I towed it to couple places ,but no one was able to figure out what the problem was , Jabar and his staff fixed the problem for reasonable price and fast and I was able to get back and enjoy my wine tasting . read more

BEWARE! Zero stars should be an option. They failed my 2005 car's smog due to what they claimed was a "Major Oil Leak" because my oil filter had some oil on it. They charged me $52.00 for the failed test and gave me an estimate of $180.00 to find the leak. Ya, I DON'T THINK SO! This is a concern when taking your car to a smog station that also repairs cars. It's tempting for them to misrepresent in order to trick you into paying for repairs that aren't required is too great. On my mechanic's recommendation I subsequently took the car to McGrath's Smog Test Only and it passed in 15 minutes! read more

I was there a little early, but he acknowledge that I was there and he said he would get to me as soon as he could, which I appreciated. I was in and out of there in about 10 to 15 minutes. In August of 2021 I brought my mini van into have a smog test done for the certification to have it registered with the DMV. A Manager named Jabar performed the smog test. It was less than a minute later when the manager Jabar said it failed due to the visual inspection stating that the catalytic converter was tampered with. The manager Jabar never looked at the part number on the catalytic converter and the paperwork indicates the car passed everything except for the visual inspection. The manager Jabar, did not explain what he meant by tampered with. The Manager Jabar was paid for the smog test and said he would perform the smog test again once the issue was fixed. On that day when having the car in for the smog test the manager Jabar had his friends on the side of the shop, he seemed to be more concerned about them than his customer. I went to the Department of Motor Vehicles that following Monday and paid $50 for a 60 day pass to get down to the bottom of the Catalytic Converter. I contacted Universal Automotive in Napa and they said the car should have passed smog. Universal replaced the Catalytic Converter in 2017 in addition to new 02 sensors, spark plugs, oil change etc. The vehicle passed smog after all work was completed. They advised to bring the vehicle back to the Manager Jabar and explain the numbers are correct on the part and the Manager Jabar said the numbers don't match. Now at this point I'm extremely upset dealing with the manager Jabar who is extremely argumentative and a Mr. no it all. I went back to Universal and they wound up replacing the Catalytic Converter to satisfy their customer. My boyfriend dropped the vehicle off at Universal at 9 am and walked home from Soscol Road to Brown Valley Road in Napa which is 4 miles to have the part changed out, which again should have passed smog to begin with. I received a call from Universal at 2:30 pm letting me know the vehicle was ready for pickup. Alex at the shop gave my boyfriend the paperwork and explained to go back to the manager Jabar again and have it retested. I called the Manager Jabar and made an appointment for 5:45 pm. When my boyfriend arrived at 5:20 pm Jabar said he had a 5:30 pm appointment and he would get to him after that appointment. No one ever showed up at 5:30 pm for an appointment. It appeared as though Jabar had no appointment at 5:30 pm he was allowing a friend to work on their car in the shop and disregarded my boyfriends time. Around 5:45 pm, the manager Jabar then said it was still the wrong part and to take it back to Universal and never did anything on the van to even know if it would pass smog. The manager Jabar basically told my boyfriend that Universal did not know what they were doing. Again, the manager Jabar was arguing with the codes and failed the smog again and said they were closing and refused to look at the part numbers. Again, the car on the rack before my boyfriends van was Jabar's friends car UNEXEPTABLE!!!! My boyfriend took the Van back to Universal and paid $70 for a Smog test that passed in a few seconds. Universal called Jabar and he refused to speak with them. I called to speak with the Owner Moe at Redwood Smog. A gentleman Azul or Asul answered the phone and told me Moe was not there he would be in sometime in the morning. A few seconds later I received a phone call from Jabar and he told me I could not speak with Moe and that Owner was his father and I could talk to him. I told him I wanted my money back due to his lack of ability to do his job correctly and had to pay good money after bad money or I was turning the company into the state. Jabar told me to go ahead because he has the paperwork. What paperwork is Jabar referring to I have only received the initial paperwork from the first time he supposedly smog tested the van. I am so upset with Jabar and his lack of respect, ability to communicate with customers, using his fathers (Owner) position for Jabar (Manager) to treat customers anyway he feels fit.
