Sold repair and great price (we shopped around first) for our 2019 Honda Insight air conditioner condenser replacement. Honda dealer wanted nearly DOUBLE! Car was done when they said it would be and they were very professional both in helping us prior to the repair, during and after. Would recommend if you need a solid mechanic locally and don't want to be ripped off by the Stealership! read more

Wow! I had a stellar experience with Colby at AJ's. Our Mazda had a mysterious issue with the parking brake not turning off that mechanics had never seen before. Even the Mazda dealership had no idea what was exactly wrong with the car but wanted to charge four figures to attempt to fix it. We were frustrated because the issue came out of nowhere and our car had never had any issue like this. Colby went above and beyond to research what was wrong and actually come up with a clear explanation for the error. You can tell he knows a lot about the mechanics of cars and is very experienced. He kept us updated day by day on what methods he was trying and got our car back up and running! And the price was about 1/10th of what the dealership was trying to charge us! Very happy and will be coming back for future service. read more

I just want to give a shout out to Colby, the new owner of AJ'S Auto Repair. But he has been working there for many years with AJ. These people are first class all the way. I've been going to their shop for several years now. I was just in their yesterday and I had to write a review to say thank you again for your professionalism and honesty everytime I am in there. God bless you Colby and all of your staff. Keep up the good work! Blessings, Robyn Hallman read more

Great service and trusted! This honest group will tell you when service isn't worth it! Pricing is fair too, which means you may have to wait to get an appointment, but it's totally worth it! read more

I can't say enough positive things about AJ's! Their mechanics are trustworthy and offer the best possible service! Thank you for helping with my car's smog issues!!! read more

I cannot say enough about AJ and his crew. The number me times they have gotten me in last minute and gone above and beyond to make sure my vehicles are taken care of is unbelievable. The work is always done efficiently and the prices cannot be more fair. read more

Been going to AJ since he was a mobile mechanic over 10 years ago and over the years as his business has grown he has kept only equally passionate mechanics creating the same quality diagnostics and repairs without unnecessary cost as when it was just AJ. read more

I imagine that, like most people, I only take the time to write reviews for service that is unusually good or unusually bad. Unfortunately, my short experience with this business falls into the latter category. It is not a review of the quality of this shop's work, because it never got that far. It is a narrative of my interactions with two employees, Sabrina and Colby, and it is written for the benefit of the owner and any potential customers. I called AJ' last week to inquire about scheduling an appointment for three issues with my car: an oscillating idle, a battery light that dimly stayed on even though the battery and alternator had been replaced, and to see why the car felt a little rickety over bumps. I talked with Colby, who was helpful, knowledgeable, and was willing to converse with me at length and answer my questions. During the phone call, we talked about the possibility of cleaning the throttle body to address the idling issue, examining the shock absorbers since the struts had already been replaced, and trying to determine why the battery light stayed on (perhaps a faulty replacement alternator? He'd seen it before). He then told me they sometimes offer a complimentary 31-point inspection, and that I could bring my car in to see what he could find. I felt good about Colby and our conversation, so I made an appointment to bring my vehicle in the following week. When I got to the shop, I was helped by Sabrina at the front desk. She took notes as I explained that the idle was already repaired by someone over the weekend. She told me that if they needed to look into anything more deeply, they may have to do a 'diagnostic inspection' for which there is a charge. I agreed and left the shop. Two minutes later, I realized that Sabrina never told me the cost of the diagnostic inspection, so I called back and asked her to please contact me for approval before being assessed any charge. She agreed. She called me a few hours later - the battery light wasn't even on and the suspension was fine, however there was a small leak in my power steering return hose. She then said that I would not be charged the more extensive ($225) diagnostic fee, but only $85 for the initial inspection fee. When I told her that Colby offered me a complimentary inspection, she started to question me, saying 'I don't mean to be rude, but have you ever had an inspection done by another auto shop that DOESN'T charge a fee?' I told her that I did, however Colby offered me a complimentary inspection and I wouldn't have brought the car in otherwise. She then snidely remarked that she would be willing to remove the $85 inspection fee and replace it with the $225 diagnostic fee instead. Colby was in the office when I went to pick up the car, and I explained to him everything I wrote above. He immediately started in on me with the same line of questioning as Sabrina, asking, 'Have you ever been to an automotive shop that doesn't charge an inspection fee?' I told him I have. He asked me the name of the shop then made a disparaging remark about them, accusing me of 'assuming' there was no charge, and pointing to a sign telling me they had a 'legal right' to charge me $85 because the hourly fee was posted on the wall. He also tried to interrogate me by asking if I did or did not agree to a diagnostic inspection before leaving the shop. I told him that I initially agreed but called back two minutes later asking Sabrina to let me know if the diagnostic inspection had to be done before going ahead with it. After a few more attempts at interrogation, Colby told me I should go give my business to the other shop. And so, I must ask... even if it WAS a misunderstanding on my part, who would refuse to extend good will to a potential life-long customer over a charge they often wave anyway, giving up tens of thousands of dollars in future repairs for all my cars, my wife's cars, and my soon-to-drive children's cars, and knowing that Napa is a relatively small town and I would undoubtedly tell others about my experience at their shop? Colby and Sabrina would, and their stupidity speaks for itself. But maybe it's not stupidity. Maybe they just don't care. Maybe they don't need my business, or it's more important for them to believe they are 'right' and try to argue someone down instead of treating a potential life-long customer with dignity and respect over what seemed to be a miscommunication or misunderstanding. Again, I don't know. But it does lead me to ask an even more important question: what justifies the argumentative, disrespectful, dismissive, and wiseass way they spoke to me? Obviously... nothing, and that in itself speaks volumes. ________________________________________________________________________________ Colby, I hope you enjoyed reading my review and it met your expectations. If you see me around Napa, feel free to apologize, buy me a beer, and we can put this unfortunate experience behind us. All the best. read more

The level of customer service is really high for a mechanic shop. Everyone calls to communicate every step of the way, they fixed both of my cars really fast and for a fair price. read more

Great service! AJ and his Team were wonderful from beginning to end, they really made things easy to understand with their inspection reports as well as clear communication as what the timeline would be and a very good estimate on what the end price would be definitely would recommend will be back for future fixes and tuneups! read more

AJ and his team are absolutely wonderful! AJ truly understands what it means to run an honest and trustworthy business. His entire team is kind, attentive, professional, very knowledgeable, and compassionate. I added the last adjective particularly not just because of my most recent experience here but in addition to it. Due to a recent incident, I have been feeling overwhelmed and intimidated by the insurance's language, the limiting options I was presented with, and just the overall bureaucratic maze. Sabrina, their receptionist & secretary extraordinaire is always supportive and kind, and AJ took his time not only to do an initial check despite a packed schedule but also helped explain what other options I have. I left hopeful and empowered! This shop's team is consistently friendly, encouraging, and goes above and beyond. AJ cares about his clients just as much as he cares about his team - everyone's always in a good mood when I need their services. Thank you for all you do! read more

Best in the Valley. Solid, trustworthy crew from Sabrina On the phones to Colby in the shop. I brought my Subaru Outback in a few times for various reasons including routine oil changes. They diagnose and get me back on the road in no time. Thank You! read more

Cream of the crop. Professional, competent and friendly. They installed a motor in my 1997 Chevy Silverado. The best shop in Napa. Thank you

Everyone here's super awesome and helpful. I thought my head gasket went, had my car towed to their lot at midnight, left my key in their dropbox. Called the next day with details, they said no problem, we'll take a look. I asked if they could ALSO take a look at my AC, which has been busted for years now, they said they would. Just a few days later, turns out it's actually just a coolant line not my head gasket. I dropped off my car expecting to pay $3K+, ended up paying under $700, and my AC, which has stumped multiple mechanics, blows cold for the first time in years. Absolutely A+ service, never tried to take advantage of me, can't recommend highly enough. Next time I find myself needing a mechanic, I'll be sure to bring an extra $20 to buy them a round. read more

This is the only place I will go for work. These guys are confident and go above and beyond. I brought my 2017 roush supercharged mustang GT in that was a mess from a previous owner who put illegal mods and a pretty terrible tune on it. Within a couple days these guys rebuilt my entire exhaust and diagnosed all my problems and the car is running BEYOND what I hoped it Would! Price point was better than any other shopper I compared as well. Thanks you guys for the hard work! read more

Brought my car in last minute during the holidays, super friendly and reliable place. Great service

Paid 175$ for them to look at my car and tell me "we can't find the source of your complaints, all seems fine" You can say it's for diagnosis... But honestly, they are just trying to get their money however they can. And they didn't give me a diagnosis. They didn't help at all. If you're worried about being taken advantage of, then don't go here. Go to Napa Garage ... Nice and honest people who will tell you straight. read more

Wow! I got an online analysis of my car after a simple oil change. That was so cool. No need to talk to anyone and the data is presented very clearly. Smart, efficient and good people. read more

First time at this auto shop. Colby was very professional over the phone and gave the options of what I needed "fuel level sensor" I opted just to replace the whole fuel pump which was probably the right thing to do in the long run. Gave me a great quote on either the sensor or the pump...wayyyy better than the dealership or a couple other spots. I dropped it off a couple days later and boom done in efficient time. The quote was spot on and gave me advice for getting it smogged later that day. DEFINITELY would recommend. If I have any big issues with my Ram 1500 that's where I'm going. Good job guys read more

AJ's was recommended by many people after I had a horrible experience taking my car to Hanlees dealership to fix my Volkswagen last time it needed work. Michael, their front office person, was extremely pleasant to deal with when it came to communication and explaining what was they found with my car. Though my car situation took longer to repair than they wanted because of some faulty codes and information, they made sure to make it right in the end. They are a fair and honest business and I'm glad I took my car to them. Our car runs like a dream and the whole experience was probably the best customer service experience I've ever had with a mechanic! They are our new go to place for repairs. Thanks guys! read more

Exceptional customer service, skilled technicians that you can trust, plus fair and honest pricing. Why go anywhere else? Thanks AJ.

Several years ago, I asked a friend who is in the auto restoration business to refer me to an auto mechanic who I could trust. He suggested AJ. In the beginning, AJ had just his van and came to your place to do the repairs. As his business grew, he got a more traditional brick-and-mortar shop. His service has never wavered. He and his staff are always honest and fair.I recommend AJ's Auto Repair to all Napans! read more
