Integrity means something, in business as in life. Not only did I get fast, friendly, competent service from the young tech at the counter, but I got generous support from the owner. When I left the shop around 2:30 today I forgot my backpack which had my work laptop, chargers, portable power bank, and keys. By the time I realized my mistake the shop had closed for the rest of the weekend (they close at 3:30p on Saturdays and reopen 8a Mondays). I called and left voicemails, emailed and texted, hoping to get the owner to return to the store and restore my bag to me. She called me within 2 hours, agreed to meet me at the shop at 7p, arrived promptly and retrieved my bag, all with a pleasant demeanor and smile. And the contents of my bag were I disturbed. The service itself was excellent, and the employee who helped me was friendly, professional, and made the process quick and easy. I have no complaints whatsoever about the quality of the service or the staff. Unfortunately, I was surprised to learn that they now charge a higher price simply because my vehicle is European. As far as I'm aware, the California smog inspection process is the same regardless of whether the car is American, Japanese, or European, so charging more based solely on the vehicle's country of origin feels arbitrary and predatory. I don't fault the employee at all, as I'm sure this is a management decision, but it's enough that I'll be taking my business elsewhere in the future. If they returned to a fair, consistent pricing model that doesn't penalize owners of European vehicles, I would gladly consider coming back. read more

Drove over to their old location to get a usual smog. And noticed the sign was gone. With a quick Google search he as able to find that they moved the plaza down the street. Apparently there was a fire at the location last year so they had to move. I'm glad they are still in business and not to far away. Owner tried to charge for diagnostics when it was his doing that caused the car problem. We took our car to have the heater fixed. It took him more than 2 hours to figure out what was wrong and told us that he had to order the parts. He made us sign to have the diagnostics done and upfront he told us that they charge $180 for diagnostics and another $90 for the parts but if they repair it they would charge us only $180. Even if it didn't make sense, we agreed because we wanted the heater fixed. Then he came back and told us he ordered the part and we had to come back the next day to get it fixed. So we took the car back to bring it the next day but when we were on the road suddenly the car has lost its power and even if I step on the gas it won't pick up the speed. The dashboard had several things that popped up. We went on the side of the road and called the owner to ask him what was wrong. He couldn't explain it and told us to tow to car back to his shop. We waited for an hour for the tow truck and when we got to his shop, he was gone and didn't even had the courtesy to let us know that he was not going to be there nor tell his employees to expect us. His employees were surprised that we showed up there. Then an exchange of calls ensued. I asked him what happened and he said that it could have been that the problem was already there. I told him that if that problem was already when he took the car to diagnose the heating problem then he would have seen what lighted up on the dashboard. The next thing he did was have his co owner to have us sign for another diagnostic and he will charging another $180. I said no way will I pay that diagnostic fee. An exchange of calls happened again and I signed the paper but specified in writing I'm not paying his diagnostic fee for the screw up that he made with our. It's either he doesn't know what he's doing or he thought that we're stupid to play along his stupid game of charging customers. So unprofessional and so rude. Never again will we bring our car to this asshole business owner. He's an embarrassment to the Filipino community! read more

I got my car smogged at Vallejo Smog this morning. Usually, smog checks are forgettable at best--sometimes even unpleasant--since many people in the business don't seem especially happy. (Not sure why, but that's been my experience.) Then I met Kurt at Vallejo Smog. What a breath of fresh air. He instantly made me feel welcome, creating an atmosphere that was warm and inviting. We chatted for a few minutes, shared some laughs, and before I knew it, I had my smog certificate in hand. But more than that, I walked away with a genuinely good feeling about both him and his business. So I took my car there the first time and the front desk lady was very polite super nice knowledgeable and was easy to work with. She actually made me feel like I chose a good place. So my car didn't pass smog the first time but they had this amazing coupon deal ..NO PASS NO PAY.. I couldn't believe I was able to walk in and Not have to give them a penny and get my vehicle tested provided the information I needed to have it pass smog. I mean they pretty much tested it for free. Told me what the problem was, I could've just went somewhere else and got it done after. And they would've lost money. If you get what I'm saying. Basically they put their trust in me to come back considering they would provide me the excellent service to wanna come back willingly and give them my business/money because they well earned it and ultimately deserved it. To summarize it, it's a small smog shop, but they provide the biggest of service and trust. They basically looked at my car three times for free until finally the problem was fixed and resolved and I was able to pay them for the smog of roughly 85-90 $. I've been to a lot of shops also I personally worked at a dealership and been in customer service for years. One thing I appreciated was when the mechanic walked into the waiting lounge with the paperwork/information of my vehicle and went over the details on why it would not pass in the beginning and what I had to do in order for it to pass and be 100% completed. I followed the Instructions I was given and as promised my vehicle passed after a few times. To keep in mind other shops literally would walk away from my vehicle because it looked too high performance for them didn't want to listen or answer any questions of mine in regards of what parts I needed to replace or inspect. OK just wanted to say these guys are awesome they actually took care of me. Definitely a business I would recommend to friends and family. And a special thanks to caw & Kurt..
