I have come to smog dog for years with each of our cars. It's always fast, efficient, and friendly. This morning I pulled up right before opening as I always do. He arrives right on time. Then he proceeds to sit in his car just waiting. He literally waited me out until I left. I sat there for about fifteen minutes thinking he was just fininshing up a call or something but nope, he was just sitting there in his car. When I finally pulled away, he got out of his car to open up. I, in the other hand, headed over to SG Smog Check at 205A Couch Street where I received excellent and efficient service at an excellent price. I left them a five star review on yelp. read more

They should not advertise that they're open on Saturday. Why lie about it? I called on phone on a Thursday and asked the person if they are open on Saturdays and he said yes, we're here at 830 every Saturday. I get there at 815, no one at the smog shop. Their neighbor next door at the mechanic shop asked me if the smog shop was opened today. I told her what they told me Thursday on the phone and she just looked at me and shrugged her shoulders. I waited until 845. No one showed, I went over to SG Smog and they took care of the truck smog and I was in and out of there in 30 minutes. No more Smog Dog for me. read more

After several satisfactory prior experiences, I returned on 11/26/24 to have my smog test done at Smog Dog on Sonoma for my reg renewal. This time the place was a total disaster. I didn't get the Techs name, but he recorded all the car data into the shop system. He asked if the car was stock and I told him it was except for the coolant/expansion tank from Moroso. He asked me for a CARB number. I told him the unit doesn't have or need one. CARB governs everything BUT cooling systems. He wouldn't budge and threatened to fail me to CA DMV if I left the premises. I didn't have what he demanded and I wasn't going to hang around indefinitely. Went down the street to A-1 Smog and got the vehicle inspected, tested, passed and transmitted to CA DMV in under 45 minutes. They even honored Smog Dog's Discount Coupon. read more

We did not have to wait very long at all. He was fast and it was a good value. He even reminded us that we had a brake light out. He removed it for us, told us to go down the street to Napa Auto Parts to buy a new bulb, and return to him to replace it for us. He was very kind and did not charge us for that. Needed a smog check for my DMV Reg renewal. My sister had a good experience here so I went in. The shop is small and clean, no clutter, basic equipment for what they do. Ray is the technician who helped me. Simple process, bring your DMV form and he sets up the car. It was very quick, I definitely appreciated that since I did not make an appointment. Ray was friendly and we got to chatting. I asked if he knew any local shops since I needed some upkeep on my car. He isn't familiar with any near but he offered some solid advice and mentioned a shop he trusts in Vacaville. Based on our conversation I feel good about trying that shop in Vacaville. I recommend Smog Dog in Vallejo to anyone needing a smog check! They currently have a coupon on their website so the price was good in my opinion. I showed up at 8 AM, Tuesday the 24th of September of 2019. Nobody was there. I left and came back at 8:05, they had just opened the doors, but all the bays were clogged with cars from yesterday. I left. There wasn't any way that I could have got my truck smogged within 30 minutes.
