Excellent service! Marin Smog was recommended to me back in 2002 and the service was so good I used them for all my smog test needs at the time. Haven't needed a smog test in several years but last month I had to get one for an older Explorer. They've changed locations - just down Sonoma Blvd. a few blocks - but the service continues to be awesome. John, the manager, was kind , courteous and efficient. And access from the street is super easy. Would highly recommend and will be returning when my next smog test is due! read more

He was able to take me immediately and it only took about 15 minutes. I was pleased with the whole process. I was also later able to register my car online. I ended up at Marin Smog after showing up to two other smog places that were not STAR certified. Because I had been referred by the guys at Sonoma Smog up the street, the gentleman immediately gave me a $6 discount. He also acknowledged me right when I walked up (it's often hard to tell where to go with auto garages) and let me know exactly how long I'd need to wait for my car to be smogged (5 min.), as well as how long the smog would take (10-15 min.). This place was terrible! They were letting the car fumes come into the office by leaving the door open and were smoking in the office too. They said I could pay $50 and that they honored competitor coupons but with the $25 off coupon my total was $63. They wound up charging me $40 after failing me and not being able to explain why I failed (they failed everyone there today) and even though I had heard from everyone including reviews and their site and former customers that they retest for free they said they would retest me for $35. Also they couldn't make change for a $5 which is just ridiculous. Do not waste your time here! read more
