The hubby and I were walking around and we stumbled upon Que Rico and boy were we glad. As soon as we walked in around 5pm on a Thursday night, we were seated and greeted. Then we were given menus. The menu was HUGE with so many items and that made me worried as normally when the menu is huge, they normally do not execute things well. BUT this place surprised me. They executed everything well. The only thing was that it looked like they only had one server working the entire restaurant and it was not a small restaurant. It was a big enough restaurant where I thought that they should have at least had 2 servers. But the one server did a great job in touching every table to ensure that everything was going well. I got the elote and it came out totally loaded BUT the corn was boiled instead of roasted so that it was not as good as it could've been. But then again, it was definitely not corn season when I ordered it so. . .I guess that's my fault for ordering it. But hey what can I say? I LOVE corn! LOL I also got the chilaquiles with green sauce and let me tell ya that was one of the best chilaquiles that I have ever had. The chips were covered in the greed sauce BUT they still had texture and were crunchy as well. So freaking good. The sauce was also so yummilicious with just the right amount of heat to give your taste buds a good kick of heat. I also added in 2 eggs, over easy. The eggs were ok. . .they came out more over hard but hey it was protein so I didn't complain. Just an FYI, it comes with refried beans and since I hate beans, I didn't touch it. The hubby tasted it and he said that it was decent. The hubby got a loaded potato and OMG it was HUGE. If you order this, make sure that you have an appetite to match the size of the potato. Que Rico has had a big journey! Started as a food truck, to malls to now this spot downtown. All their options are amazing. Today I had the breakfast burrito and the flavor was amazing. My girlfriend got the chilaquiles and wasn't even talking to me because of how good it was. They always provide great recommendations as my girlfriend and I weren't sure what to get but we were happy with the outcome we got. Place is casual and a nice get away from the chaos at other restaurants. Will definitely be back to try their brunch menu out as I heard the French toast is to die for. While the food and service was great, what made our experience terrible is how sneaky the cashier: Gu**a** went about in self tipping themselves 30% with the added 3% credit card fee. Here's what went down. Everything was great until I went up with my friend to pay. Cashier G inputted our amount due and I handed her my credit card. She used the handheld credit card scanner to put my credit card in. Rather than hand me the scanner so I can tip her, she instead selected the 30% option herself! Yes, SHE chose and added the 30% tip herself. I had no idea until she handed the receipt back to us and I saw what she had done. She refused to redo the transaction again. Que Rico is an unassuming Mexican restaurant located in Denver. While searching for brunch spots to eat at after getting off of my morning flight, Que Rico stood out to me and it was one of the few Mexican restaurants open and it had been some time since I last had Mexican food. I came in shortly after they opened and was quickly seated by one of the workers. The menu was filled with various options including classic Mexican dishes, sides, drinks and desserts. As I was craving something more on the brunch/breakfast side, I opted to get a Que Rico plate with birria, no beans, and corn tortillas. For a low price of $13 I would definitely consider this meal to be worth it! All of the flavors combined perfectly and I especially enjoyed the guacamole and salsa in the dish. My one complaint is that because of the birria, the bottom of the dish was pretty juicy and so it was the rice slightly mushy and I was looking forward to the rice.
