I discovered Saida through one of the daily coupon sites, and when I left a message to schedule my first massage, it was returned promptly. Her office is directly across from the zoo and easy to find, extremely clean, and nicely decorated. And, now, on to the massage: it's fantastic. She has a very gentle touch, but can apply a lot of strength if necessary. This was further demonstrated during my second visit. In the course of unpacking/decorating after a move, I'd had a large picture frame hit me in the head and effectively give me whiplash on one side of my neck. When I woke up in pain the next morning, I called her, and she was able to fit me in for an hour the next day, a Sunday (she also had a half-hour slot the same day, but I decided to wait). She asked me relevant questions and then got to work, spending the entire time on the area in pain. I started to feel some relief immediately, and while the healing process will probably take another couple days, I have no doubt that she sped it up considerably. Oh, and her prices are VERY reasonable. She doesn't accept gratuities, so the price listed ($75 for one hour, for example) really is the price. Just awesome.

We were running about 10 minutes late, but we called them and let them know. When we arrived, the front desk staff barely said anything to us and just whisked us back into the massage room. They barely welcomed us, they didn't ask about any focus areas or preferences, and it seems like they were not the strongest communicators. We got a very basic massage with a mix of back, legs, and arms. It was not at all a deep tissue massage. It was not relaxing. It was not worth it. I didn't feel anything at the end; like, I might as well not have gotten a massage at all. When we were done, they whisked us to the counter to pay. Again, not very friendly or communicative. There is a sign on the counter that says there is a $5 charge for paying with credit card, but thankfully they did not charge us that. The place is very barebones, like the service. They have about 6 massage rooms. We were the only ones there, and I got the impression there was only more than one staff person there because we booked in advance. But things started going downhill in the locker room. First, all of the lockers were broken. Every one. So the guide told me to leave my clothes in the locker (and cross my fingers they'd still be there when I got back, I guess) but to bring my purse and all of my valuable with me to the lounge and treatment room. Huh? Also, the locker room is teeny tiny. One bathroom (which is apparently the only women's bathroom for the whole space). Two sinks. One bench. Ten broken lockers. That's it. Then I was told to wait in the lounge for my treatment. The "lounge" is one couch and two chairs in a maybe 10x9 room. Bright lighting, no music, no ambiance, not relaxing. When I came in there was a small group of women already there, so there was no place to sit. Also not good. The masseuse came and got me. The massage was fine. Not great, but fine. And the treatment room was nice. I was with a couple of friends who I think had better massages, so I'd advise to request specific providers who have gotten good reviews. Then I was sent back to the "lounge" -- where there was now a new group of women. But at least there was a seat. And a lukewarm glass of "champagne." The lounge also has water, fruit, crackers, cheese. Very barebones. Very get in and get out. But I decided to take a sauna because why not? Well, I'll tell you why not. The sauna is also a shower. In fact, it's the only shower in the whole place. So you might be taking a steam while a stranger is washing her whoha. Or maybe she's waiting for you to finish your sauna so she can rinse her pits. When checking out, they added an automatic 20% gratuity to the bill. And it's the first time EVER that nobody asked me how I enjoyed my treatment. I guess they don't care for feedback when they've already gotten a tip. But I love feedback, so I'm giving it anyway. And a warning to anyone reading this. Go somewhere else. This can't be the best that D.C. has to offer.

They also used a scratchy towel to cover me even though it was so hot. Needless to say, I was very uncomfortable and did not enjoy my experience. They accept credit card and had recommended tip on the iPad. As others mentioned, I thought the 30% tip option was rather high.
