Today went and had a 30 min massage for $70, which I already thought was very overpriced for an over the clothes massage. I usually like this style, but this massage was horrible - very painful, it not uniform on both sides of my body and she hardly touched my lower back. Extremely rude staff the last two times I've gone. Story time: This past time, my partner had bought me a massage for my birthday, and when it came time to pay, the woman behind the counter pretended they don't have a gift certificate policy available (even though he bought it in-person a couple of weeks ago and the card says the company's name). She kept demanding I use the gift card next time I came back for a massage (not happening) and to pay with my credit card for this visit. Normally I'd fold, but something seemed inauthentic. I held my ground and finally someone came out from the back and immediately went to work processing the gift card, with no issues or questions asked. Then, the first woman started charging my card a 40% tip without my consent. I said she could charge 20% (even though the service was not good and she straight up lied to my face and was mean about it). She had the nerve to push back and complain. She finally bullied me into a 25% tip for a poor massage and truly upsetting customer service. We both left upset at how we had been treated, especially since we weren't aggressive or disrespectful at all. Please spare yourself the headache and go to Unwind or Wat instead. I live very close to this massage place, and I've been in the neighborhood for a year and a half. But I only walked in a few days ago to request pricing. Given the small number of reviews on Yelp, low ratings, and high prices for what appears to be a Chinese massage place, I was very skeptical. However, after a sick day that included muscle aches and a lot of anxiety, I decided to give them a shot. The price list they have on their website is also posted in the reception area. I really wanted a combination massage of back and feet, but I didn't want to pay $120 for 90 minutes as advertised, so they offered it to me for $85 for an hour. The masseuse asked in the very beginning if I like "light or hard" pressure. Other than that, there were no intake forms and no other questions. I love it! The massage itself was great. These are definitely not massage therapists who are training in different styles of massage, so don't expect a Swedish or deep tissue or lomi lomi massage. Even the reflexology was definitely NOT reflexology but it was an awesome foot massage. I fell asleep for a few minutes. I would go back for sure, and I wish the prices were lower so I can go back more frequently, but these are DC prices right in line with DC rent. read more

Made an appointment for three people at 7 pm. I was told to call an hour before coming to confirm our appointment time. The receptionist wanted to make sure we were going to come and that her therapists were going to be occupied. Totally reasonable. I called ahead and confirmed our appointment. We wanted to have the same room for our foot massages so we could catch up. This was explained when I made the reservation. We arrive 10 minutes before our appointment. Only two therapist were available. One of us had to wait until another therapist arrived. The massage therapist were very pushy about getting us into the room to start even before we were ready and our third person arrived. This was very off putting as we had to keep telling them we will wait for our friend. At one point, we had to be very firm that we are waiting for our friend. Massages were fine. Nothing amazing. Nothing bad. When we go to pay - they were very pushy about the gratuity. Our 45 minute massage was $95 (each). I paid the $95 in credit card, and gave cash for the tip. I provided a $18 tip (which is 19% tip). The massage therapist said this isn't enough and kept pointing to the 25% tip sign. I was bullied into giving more. I then gave a $20 tip which she still complained about. And yelled at me to give more. I just walked away. She then complained about it to the other therapist. My friends paid for the massage and tip on card and were auto charged $125. Which is a 30% tip. Not acceptable. Be weary about the pushy expectation of the 30% tip even when service isn't perfect and they are not kind. read more

The workers are very friendly. But my massage therapist was didn't really massage me she basically just gave me a rub down. There was a lot of hair massage towards the end. Terrible business practices. We were previously repeat customers, but now none of us are going back. Was losing repeat customers worth it? 3 women. 2 of us chose the signature package at $110 (45 min feet reflexology and 15 min neck and shoulders). The 3rd asked for the signature package with an additional 15 min on the neck - they quoted $140 and said that included adding oil to her back (expensive upcharge for an additional 15 min and oil but she went for it). When the first two of us walked to the back we were accidentally led to the private rooms and reminded the lady we were doing the signature package so she took us to the shared room, which is where we've always gone. The massage itself was fine, though inconsistent and not what we expected. My lady kept leaving whenever the main door opened. Did she make up that time? No. I also didn't get the same amount of massage as my friend with the same package. My neck was only massaged while I was laying on my stomach. Then they told me to sit up and prepare for the feet. However, my friend (NOT the one who asked for additional time) was asked to turn over on her back at the end and then they continued massaging her neck and did numerous stretches with her legs. 2 of us never got that. Lastly, our feet reflexology was supposed to last 45 min...there's absolutely NO way they spent longer on the feet than our backs. I would guess it was about 20 min on our feet and 30 on our neck/back. The time they spend transitioning the furniture and filling the water buckets for the feet portion eats into the supposed 45 min. When we came up to the front to pay my friend and I were told that it would be $193 including tip. I kept saying nooo, we specifically asked for the signature package and only the one friend asked for custom. We had even said it when they were leading us to the back! They didn't care. AND even though they originally said $140 for the custom massage, they charged $155 PLUS a MANDATORY 25% tip?? After you treated us like this? We know pre-added tips are becoming more common, but not 25%! We left paying $193 each when we planned on paying around $135 (with tip). Who would pay $200 for an over the clothing 60 min massage? if i could give this place negative stars, i would. i come here once a week and over the last few times i've been curiously annoyed and then offended. i work in the service industry and do my best for all my clients and do not expect a tip but if given i appreciate it. i was told the "minimum tip is 30%" by my service provider yesterday. i was so offended. i gave her a 30% tip but apparently she couldn't add but requested $5 more dollars from me! i gave it to her and told her "i am never coming back." the last few times i paid it was wierd at the front desk because i said 20-25% exra for tip and the number the service provider gave me was always higher. the time previous to this i said "no," but the other times it happened i said "ok" not really thinking what was happening. on another occasion the service charged me $45 more dollars for 15 minutes more massage! these women are crooks and they are taking advantage of their clients. i was a loyal patron and now i will never step foot in there again and will tell everyone to watch out! like read more

For a low-cost, convenient option, the Wellness Center in Woodley Park serves its purpose. However, my back still hurts and I didn't feel much relief after my hour long acupressure session. For $70 I received a 60 minute "acupressure" session which was a mix between a deep tissue massage and a lymphatic massage. Since I have only had acupressure done at those pop-up centers found in random mall store-fronts, I can't attest to whether this was a good "acupressure" session. However, I can say that most of the knots are still there in my back, and there were points in my massage where it just HURT. In fact, I have certain points on my neck that are still tender to the touch. The staff were friendly, and helpful (there is a language barrier). However, I am not sure if I will go back. read more

Rating WG Wellness Center a 1 because my "massage therapist" (highly doubt she was certified) was an old grandma who PICKED UP HER PHONE during my "massage" and proceeded to talk to whoever was on the phone for 5 minutes DURING the massage. Was actually very uncomfortable throughout the entire massage as this grandma used her index finger to release the building tension in my back. Great massage! Firm yet relaxing. I attended a conference in DC at the Marriott to give a short presentation. Public speaking stresses me out and my upper back was very tense afterwards. I walked into the building and was helped immediately. The masseuse seemed to instinctively know where the tense areas were in my back and spent extra time working them out. I was occasionally asked about pressure preferences. My original plan was for 45 minutes, but I extended it by 15 minutes twice because it was so relaxing and enjoyable! Not only the room was dirty and had a strange odor, Angela the masseuse was inattentive to my concerned and hurried. Customer Service Lacking I had an average 60 minute deep tissue massage tonight. I was a bit frustrated in that the woman masseur did not understand English well so it was difficult to tell her to ease up on the pressure. At the end of my review I paid the $70 for the 60 minute massage and left a tip for $10. The woman at the desk called me "cheap" for not leaving a bigger tip. I was really shocked that she would insult me that way as a customer never should have an obligation to leave a tip. It is discretionary and as it was I was leaving a $10 tip. I never had a massage as good as what I received from Cherry. She is very sensitive to my body and needs. She worked on my back for a long time removing knots and pain from the middle of my back. I opted for the 60 min accupressure and loved it. I sit at a desk 12+ hours a day, have a few neck and back nagging injuries from an accident and desk aches. Typically I am always in a state of ache and discomfort but deal with it. I find it hard to get a good therapist that can take care of those aches, at least one that is able to penetrate the knots. I had Lily (sp) work on me and it was like magic. While I can understand the other comments about a little bit of pain it didnt bother me at all and I left out of there feeling amazing. I've had three massages here, and can confirm the comments about the lady and her cellphone. Maybe she's the boss and trying to pay the bills at the same time, but its not even discrete...just a glowing light beside you. She didn't seem very present in the experience with me, which made me feel like I wasn't very valuable. She worked my back for about 40 mins (not bad), then flipped me over and did some foot scratching for the rest of the 90 minutes WHILE looking at her cellphone. The same way your spouse likely half-ass touches your foot when you ask them to give you a massage. She kept zoning out trying to scratch off dead skin from the same spot on my foot (which doesn't come off)...super annoying. Worse, I called ahead and scheduled a 90 min "deep tissue" (which is $85) but was billed for a 90 minute whole body (I got some back work and feet scratching) for $120. No hands, no arms, no legs, no quads, no neck, no face, nothing else... I have had some great massages before, this was not one of them. This was my last visit. I just had my first massage here and had an excellent experience. I had the 60-min acupressure massage, mostly to target neck and shoulder aches from desk posture and stress. There was some pain with the trigger point massage on my toughest knots, but I've found that to be part of the process and it's always worth the end result to me. The masseuse was careful not to use any more pressure than I wanted. It was possibly the most relaxing overall massage I've ever had, with a great deal of therapeutic relief. I really did leave feeling totally relaxed, with loose muscles and no aches. I will definitely go back! As other reviewers have said, there is a little bit of a language barrier but nothing that interferes with getting a great treatment, and everyone I spoke with was friendly and professional. read more
